I am an ovarian cancer patient/survivor ... having just celebrated 5 years last month since diagnosis - however life is not easy and now am on a trial drug that has dramatic side affects but at least I am here still and I thank my beautiful family and wonder Lord God for ongoing support ... I know it will always be there with me but like Trudy my goal is to see a test for women to be able to go into their GP and be tested, my dear husband died 13 years ago and I miss him as I walk through this journey. I "somehow" managed to walk 21 klms along the Warburton trail back in February 2017 along with my amazing daughter who is my constant companion throughout this journey - all up $65,000 was raised with both my daughter and I raising $650 - thank you Trudy and I will pray for you and your family as you travel along. God bless all walking this walk and talking the talk!!!
hi rosemary Goulding I hope your doing well, It sounds like you have Jesus is in your life which is great He will get you through all life's struggles God bless
I just want to put this out here. I apologize if it has already came up in comment. ANYTIME, you have blood drawn ask to have your CA 125 tested. You would think that your Gynecologist would run this test but THEY DO NOT! They will say that sometimes it can be higher if you are sick etc. Have it run anyway. Like she said it is so aggressive that it can go from Stage 1 to Stage 4 in a matter of six months. I don't want anyone to go through this disease! It's horrific and I am far from over exaggerating.
WOW Trudy, what an amazing, composed woman you are! So much of what you said in your speech resonated with me. I was diagnosed with OC aged 37 and I too live in a regional area where there was little support on this particular cancer, so I drew strength from OCA. I have made it my mission in life to support and raise money for them to help early diagnosis. Coincidentally, I too have 2 sons and thank my lucky stars everyday that I am still here to watch them grow into the beautiful young men I know they will be. The only difference between you and I is luck and it might sound strange but I am living proof that early diagnosis is the best chance you have of surviving this terrible cancer, I live with that guilt everyday. I say guilt because it wasn't caught early because of my vigilance, it was purely the luck of being pregnant and it getting picked up on a pregnancy ultrasound. I truly wish I could have granted you that kind of luck too. Trudy you are a gorgeous human being and to give up this precious time you have to help others is testament to the kind of person you are x
Trudy, you amaze me with your calm and considered speech given the gut wrenching words you are sharing. Bloody cancer sucks and it can hit anywhere and any part of your body. I admire you for the work you are doing and wish you all the best in your fight to stay with your family as long as you possibly can. Remember though to ensure you take time out from your busy days to rest, rejuvenate and enjoy your loved ones. Much love...
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It has been hard to find people willing to be “Nude” with exact symptoms and the areas they experienced these symptoms. God bless you and all you do
I'm 54yo 4B HGSC. BRCA1 for OC, Breast and Pancreatic. My mother died at 40 with brain cancer, her mom died at 56 breast cancer, her brother 57 from liver cancer. 1st cousin has breast cancer, so I guess I'm screwed. I wish I could find anyone with HGSC that is living past 5yrs :(
Hi Viorel, we are sorry to hear that. We would love to help. Please contact us on 1300 660 334 (9am - 5pm AEDT, Weekdays) or email support@ovariancancer.net.au
Thank you. I have a large cyst on my ovary & I've had nausea & vomiting, bowel & urinary problems, with that full feeling after eating only a few bites, tired all the time... I have a fever like discomfort that I use heat pad for. The cyst was found on cat scan & i was referred for Gyn follow up (f/u). I am supposed to see the gyn tomorrow, but I'm saying i don't think I need it bc cysts dissolve, right.

@@OvarianCancerAustralia bless her, how tragic. I was diagnosed with stage 4 in July 2019 and now considered end-stage. I'm not buying it and still fighting like hell this September 2021.

I’ve been on a regular to heavy period since April 2020 (it’s now end of dec 2020) and my dr says nothing. Should I not be worried?
I hope you've been diagnosed and treated, but if not, you may have uterine fibroids. I had the same symptom and it was fibroids.
Find another doctor.
