- Totalling over 60+ hours of playtime (CBT, Preorder and post-launch combined), here's the results! Judge the quality of it in comparison to Vermintide as you wish, imo it's still pretty good.

This is one of the only 40k games I can think of where the Imperium is properly portrayed as an utterly psychotic organization, but with the right level of dark humor to keep it from feeling stupid. Usually 40k games make them seem too heroic, or are up their own butts being gRiMdArK.
It was a good call to make the protagonists prison conscripts for the Inquisition. They’re still the grunts of 40k but their position lets them comment on everything that’s going on without getting turned into a servitor.

1. Zealot going on his monologue about abhumans having soul, my ogryn told him to shut his snivelling mouth and the second ogryn did the same
2. 2 non-cadian veterans talking about Cadia and some ogryn saying that they should build new Cadia
The judge thinks the Ogryns have souls and will argue in their defense

My personal favorite so far is when explicator Zola tells that team that special ammo is not ours to use and psyker goes "Oh yeah? However will I kill heretics now?? WITH MY MIND."

The best one I've had so far upon deploying a servo skull is the tech priest going "BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE SERVO SKULL" and then apologizing for her outburst
I think it was ''release'' the power of the servo skull. Wich is even more concerning
I love how the tech priest is so damn condescending towards the squad, explaining her orders like they're a bunch of mentally-challenged toddlers... And the Ogryn actually *like* it because she's putting it into words they can easily understand.
Every time the veteran praises the Ogryn makes me happy. I think my favorite line is when an Ogryn is helping a vet up, that vet’ll say “Come here often, big man?”
My favorite one I’ve heard was between an Ogryn and my Veteran.
Ogryn: “The Emprah is a god yes? What’s he look like?”
Veteran: “Well he’s a corpse, so probably not good.”
It's best that the Ogryn don't know that the Emperor looks like beef jerky, otherwise they'd try to eat Him.
I feel like the Medicae Servitor needs some comforting hugs
What he really wants is to see the rabbits one last time and for all the pain to go away
It's Warhammer 40K. Who *doesn't* need comforting hugs in that setting ?
I mean... Besides the Orks, that is. They're just out there living their best life and having all the fun. If every species in the Grim Darkness Of The Future was as happy as the Orks, this setting wouldn't be so bleak.

Sienna’s va actually voices the female head of grendyl’s servitor, the one that gives us that “I am a warrior” speech in the intro, as well as saltzspyre’s va and bardin’s va.

The one at 9:36 got wild with how he was maniacally laughing and getting more and more echoy
This game has good dialgoue but it is hidden behind the million "what do you think of Morrow, pysker, pilot, zola, Rannick, Grendyl" voice lines.

Also I was hoping for both of the Zealots to break into song @ 8:36 I know that Zealot does sing the actual hymn and it sounds awful and hilarious at the same time.

Some of the medicae voicelines are utterly heartbreaking. To think they are still somewhat aware of their own situation...
I love the dialogue in this game, my only real complaint is that they don't use it in cutscenes. They give us these wonderful monologues in the character customizer, and wonderful in game dialogue, but our characters just grunt and say yes or no in the cut scenes. They could have added so much damned character to our creations by having them properly talk in the cutscenes.
The only reason I can think that they don't is from a technical perspective, the large amount of facial variation means that a joint based face rig isn't feasible. But a blendshape/shapekey based facial rig can still be very good, and would work across all the heads with one animation file as all the blendshapes/shapekeys would have uniform naming.
If they ever hire or commission you I hope they get you to help out on the cutscenes or something, because it does feel like a weakness of this game when the gameplay, art, ost etc is godlike.
They are most likely using a shape key based system for their characters (Ogryn doing the eyebrow raise), it's just that they chose not to give player characters any agency in cutscenes. They are all the same for each class, with the same time window for a voice line. The cinematics don't appear to look rushed, so it's not like it wasn't intentional. It sucks, but what can you do. This is where I would step in
9:18 I absolutely love the Seer. While he seems insane and acts like an idiot most of the time, he can actually be pretty mean and he has some pretty cool voice lines.
PS: 9:35 Yeah hes probably the most insane character out of all of them lol.

The loner definitely sounds more… German so to speak, than the seer. Makes me wonder what his maniacal laughter would be, if he were to have any that is.
Really, really enjoying the dialogue between all the characters. It might not be as personal as Vermintide's but it's still really good.

People are talking about the banter being better if these were actual *characters* buy I like it like this, especially the little bit about the cards in the latter half of the video.
Guardsman#1 has heard so many people bitching and moaning about the Pilot's card skills that he's not even surprised that Guardsman#2 is the latest in the line. He's just here with figurative popcorn watching the Mourningstar's reject population collectively lose their shit over a cheater so blatant in her cheats yet always ever untouchable because of her role. He's here for the drama.

About 150 hours in-game and I still hadn't heard over half these voice lines, the depth and variety is astounding.
My favorite was one my veteran says when you mark a mutant:

Ok we need to give these character voices names, don't get me wrong I like the whole 'your dudes/dudettes' make up your own character but... come on just listen to them talk
Definitely an interesting experiment in character creation, but it has its downsides
They technically get around this by giving them all titles instead. You have the obvious ones like Ogryn, Veteran, Psyker, and Zealot. Certain personalities will give them different names however. The Judge Zealot will call his teammates Pilgrims, Templars, Slab and Witch I believe, not sure about the other ones since I only play with my Judge Zealot. Veterans will all call any Psyker witch and any Ogryn Big-Man. One of the Psyker personalities refers to themselves and the group as Enforcers a lot, I think its the French lady and the Carribean sounding dude. Ogryn's Bully personality just calls everyone runts, while his other ones will have nicknames like Spark'ead for the Psyker, Sah or Boss for the Veteran and Shouty for the Zealot. If you really want to give them names I think sticking with the ones their personalities are named after is best. I can name my Zealot character all I want but he's still "The Judge" in my head, same for my Veteran character just being "The Professional".
Or you can just name them Joe, John, Jack and Jug, if that's your fancy.

You know, that little “ah, fuck…” actually makes me realize, I don’t think I’ve actually heard much actual swearing in 40k. Just an interesting observation
I feel like the banter would be so much more worthwhile if these were specific characters. Whenever they say something that implies a history between them I'm just like "What? Who? This rando that just joined the lobby?"
Thats why i loved vermintide, there was the personal banter between the characters that felt great.
There are certain voice lines that are unlocked once you get high-enough levels with certain characters, or at least that's what I've been told. Originally I believed that the first voice line you hear with the Zealot and Ogryn in the video was tied to if you were in a strike-team with someone or not since that would imply some sort of familiarity with the people you're playing as, however I am still not sure.
Ah yes because everyone wants to play one specific character with their own background. Yeaaahh no bud, you forget what darktide is about.

To be frank you don't need to be, you'll have it better by waiting a portion of time for more hotfixes and patches to roll out. Game's good, but feels a little unfocused and needs some balance changes, reworks etc.
I wish they would swap out the Mechanicus lady's voice with Bonzi Buddy.
I must admit, I really don't like the Psyker voices, they grate on me.
I do, however, love the loose cannon Vet, his line about using Melk's arrogance to win the war in 3 days got a chuckle out of me

Be it VT1,2 or DT I literally hate when any of the characters open their mouth to talk. Doesn't matter if it's a named character like Krueger, or if it's a random 40K sharpshooter, it is all equally terrible.
