The video is very helpful, but I have some questions left: 1. The huge topic about services - there are a lot of them and some of them are just eating up resources. It will be great to have detailed guide on what services could be disabled without unwanted effects; 2. After disabling the telemetry, which is partially done by blacklisting addresses of MS servers, sometimes feels like windows loads noticeably longer due to attempts to reach to servers. On low-end machines it feels very bad. What to do with that? Is it possible to disable some bloat functionality by physically preventing those services/dll's from being loaded and executed? 3. Comparison with LTS version of win 10 may help a lot!
Was randomly browsing the web late at night, and stumbled into this youtube video. Didn't think this kind of miracle work was possible, but followed through and now I'm having my computer go a bit faster. Thanks alot friend :)
I have never tweaked my windows 10 since install. Thanks to your great videos and a few hours I now have a really fast computer. Very easy to follow. Well done and thank you.
Before this video: RAM = 60% usage, CPU = 62% usage, HDD = 40% usage. After this video (with tweaks particular to my setup): RAM = 40% usage, CPU = 8% usage, HDD = 2% usage. I'm normally pretty good with performance tweaks, but I wasn't even aware of how much bloat there is in Win10. "ShutUp" shut down a lot of unnecessary services that I thought I had killed, and so far I have had better-than-fresh-install performance already. I will be recommending this to many of my friends. THANK YOU!

Word of caution: some of this stuff can really ruin your day if you're unlucky like me. I have a new comp (2 months old) for gaming and music production. Doing this screwed up gaming ( later found out it had something to do with removing registry keys dealing with Microsoft Store), but that wasn't the big deal. For some reason, this program decided to erase most of the VST plugins I was using, as well as removing quite a few apps I use in sample splicing, etc. when I went to restore back to the restore point I made just before doing all this, it did nothing to fix it. I ended up having to go back to a restore point a week before. Most of the plugins came back, BUT, all the sounds I had created were gone. So, any songs I had written using the VSTs will never sound the same. NOT Chris Titus' fault by ANY means, just a head's up for those walking along the same path. All in all, I wanted to streamline my computer, and ended up working to get what I could back, and eventually have to live with losing close to 50 hours of work on music.
My Mac Pro boots to: 1) Mac OSX Yosemite - 2) WIN10 - 3) WIN XP - 4) Linux Mint 20. The slowest OS of all 4 is Mint, while the quickest and most stable *by far* is Windows XP.
Got Mint on my secondary PC, but for many work-related programms you need Windows. While I cannot say how much faster my PC got with this, it 1.: still works (wich is nice) 2.: did not lose any important functionality (also nice) 3.: feels snappier, but feelings can lie, so... nice, I guess

Hi Chris, I have been watching your vids on my TV and today decided to try and implement your Windows 10 cleanup / debloat system. I got stuck at first base as I didn't know how to copy the script and before I knew it you had moved on!! I tried 3x but have now given up as you go so fast. Interesting stuff.
i've been cleaning up Windows since W98 days! thanks so much for this post!!!! Outstanding and some stuff i didn't know. Windows 10 isn't a bad OS, but outta the box it is. For those who argue is no faster & lightly after doing these steps...imo i can promise you it is! Thanks again you have a great channel right here
2019 The year Linux became simple to configure compared to endless tutorials to clean Windows bloat. Not the year of the Linux desktop yet, but a milestone.
I have been hearing it is the year of the linux desktop since 1998 LOL.. Linux as an OS is fine, it is all the useless dependencies, the various GUI's, and shitty software on top of it that will forever keep it's desktop market share low. Look what Android did with Linux...if linux as a desktop wants to become mainstream it needs to start over.

I disagree. At our shop we have seen a huge uptick in sales of computers with Linux Mint because people are just soooo fed up with Microsoft and how Windows Updates breaks something just about every week.
I have been using puppy Linux for years now. Basically, there is no need to "configure" because it asks you about 3 questions at the first boot and from then on it just works. It is a compact one that can boot from CD or memory stick. It saves all your work in a compressed file so Windows doesn't even know about it (other than one file)
I would want to see that Powershell code to see what it is doing before I click any buttons, especially Delete All buttons. You should distinguish between uninstall actions and safer actions such as disabling unnecessary scheduled tasks or removing unnecessary programs from Startup. But you should also tell people how you’re determining what to remove.
Not being a computer geek, I was a bit afraid to try any of this, but I said, "what the heck, give it try". I'm glad I did ! My computer is definitely faster. apps load faster. Not sure if you'll check this, but if you can help me with where I should start.. I put my HP laptop in 2012 and my only issue that it freezes a lot and very slow and camera not working I guess.. Any help? Or should I send it to repair?
I just bought a new pc with Windows 10 on it... I brought it home, and cleaned it by installing LinuxMint 19.3 on it... haven't looked back... XFCE has some tricks up its sleeve that no other DE has... My favorite is to hold down the Alt key and scroll wheel... it magnifies the screen for my tired old Boomer eyes...
I just installed Linux Mint 19.3 on a Virtual Machine. I've played around with Ubuntu a lot but wow Mint is nice and has a windows feel. Seriously considering installing it on one of my machines as the main OS.

thanks this has finally brought new life into an old windows installation that was unusable my boot up times are a third and my cpu usage is nearly halfed!
I noticed that the debloat script removed the hevc extension needed to play back h.265 content in windows applications. this is probably not wanted. it also gets rid of the miracast stuff (which may or may not be wanted depending on if you use that functionality.
I followed these steps but used the updated link for his tool (which didn't have a clearcut "debloat" button like the one in this vid but I digress). My system processes went from 151 to 75 upon restart- and I had some corrupted files I didn't even know about but are now fixed! Thanks Chris, really appreciate it
Beware about what the "debloater" does: for example it removes video codecs you need for many websites. Codecs do not cause your PC to be slow, they are only active in softwares needing them to play audio/videos encode with them (and if you remove them, you will not hear/see the audio/video at all that you intended to play, there will be no replacement in many places with alternative streams encoded differently, or you'll endup using some other less efficient MPEG codecs that have poorer quality and require more bandwidth on the network, and less abilities to use fast forward/backward in them. The codecs in Windows are not necessarily bad, even if there are a few better implementations (but most high-performing implementation are not free). If you install any mediaplayer app, they will ask you to reinstall the missing codecs they need to play yourt medias. Be aware that there are "free" codecs on the web that are in fact malicious or could cause instabilities in your hardware because of unsafe optimizations. This should not occur with the codecs provided by Windows, and at least they will be updated regularly as necessary (this won't happen with many "free codec packages", that also come with additional bloatwares including apps making recurrent internet accesses to report your usage, send profiling data, and download newer unstable versions).
Thank you for doing this Chris. Its a shame that big companies dont even consider Linux as a viable platform. As long they dont do this, Liunx will never catch up with Windows. On the other side, when people stick with Windows, nothing will change at all.
Have done my first debloat with a customized Blacklist and want to kanow some things: 1- Will disabling "Microsoft remote desktop" prevent me from Teamviewering or Zooming ? 2- Will disabling "Microsoft ExperienceLanguagePackmylanguage" revert my Windows OS to English ? or will it remain in 'my language' ? 3- The W10debloater offers us to uninstall .NET 3.5 that is, I presume, .Net Framework 3.5. Isn't there a contradiction for the Blacklist proposes to get rid of all .Net Framework version in the OS ? I unchecked all .Net Framework checkboxes for I know that some programs requires (at least when I was on XP) Framework of specific versions and if you didn't have it, it was a PITA (pain in where you think) to install the suite because there is a specific order to install them and you can't just install a specific version without having installed all the previous versions *in order*. Last observation : O&O is a... "Bold Microsoft Partner" !!!??? You know what this implies ? That the program is created (or vetted) with the help of Microsoft !!! This seems to defeat its purpose isn't it ? If Microsoft have a hand in the O&O making, how can we be sure that the spy telemetry is really disabled and not simply hidden from the OS scrutiny and still work under a cloak of invisibility ?
Clean up 10 Windows in 3 steps: 1. For crystal-clear glass, sponge on then squeegee off soapy water. Use horizontal strokes on one side of the pane and vertical strokes on the other to make streaks easier to spot. 2. Buff out small scratches with toothpaste. 3. To remove paint specks or sticky labels, dampen and scrape off with a plastic razor blade.
Sir, your facetious recommendations are worthy of trying, which makes much more sense than the ill-fated advice of Mr Titus. I was initially tempted to try to clean my Windows installation but when I saw the manner in which he went about it without further explanation of what was eventually going to be permanently removed as well as meddling with the Registry, I immediately re-evaluated my decision and left well enough alone. I was quite disappointed by Mr Titus in not warning his viewers of the potential risks of meddling with the software innards. I will never trust any future video whose content will be hosted by Mr Titus.🙄
PROBLEM!!! PLEASE HELP ME Hey I got a huge problem after watching this video can somebody help me please? I cant open task manager and many other options, i cant reset my computer and cannot deinstall or install windows. It could be because I deleted everything under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion (at 9:40 in this video) and now I cannot even open this file either. Also by accident I did klick on weird settings on the reccomended programm O&O SHUTUP10 ,but i cannot open this program anymore either. I am ready to reinstall everything and re-setup my laptop. I just want task manager and coding window to work again. ik its totally my fault but is there anything I could do.Thank you in advance.

This does work. I did have to reinstall my Book Baazar ebook reader and a Solitare software. But that was no sweat. Personally I used Glary Utilities to see what tasks are scheduled. I have been into regedit a time or 2 and a single mistake there can cause you days of grief and frustration. But overall, very good stuff. Agree his intro should not say we are not going to download anything when that is the first thing he did. But it does work, and it certainly cleans out the start area. So 15 min of time spent putting the stuff you want there is time well spent. Just find an app, right click, pin to start. If you use it a lot once in start you can right click again, more, pin to taskbar. Two thumbs up for me, have one more slow puter to do today, my wifes. We will see how bad the damage is.
@4JbKCenTLQjZscbFiZWwkg PiiVgDue7DF2eu4BLqtuhhP Yup it's pretty good. Also if you want to update drivers w/o any telemetry you can use Tiny Nvidia Update Checker. It download and installs them easily w/o any bloat.

Turning off hibernation also disables fastboot, which means now a shutdown does the same as a restart as far as bootup is concerned which is good. A lot of people when stuff doesn't work right, turn their computer off and back on and it still doesn't work. That's because windows wasn't restarting but just doing a hibernation hybrid shutdown. I really wish they would make it clear to the user, because the boot up as far as turning the computer off and back on or restarting look identical.
Did this 3 years ago and then finally dumped Windows for Ubuntu. Never looked back since, saving piles of memory and having free security. Thanks, Buddy.
If your desktop was attached to OneDrive and you disabled it then your desktop files will disappear from the desktop, but they will still exist in your x:\OneDrive\desktop folder The bloatware script won’t really do much other than potentially cause you issues.

I will watch your other videos to improve the computing quality of my PC's when I get time! 👍🏻👍🏻 ( one suggestion: you may show the pre- and post- bloatware removal screens in your video to let the viewers know what happens after they perform your routine because I was surprised after I saw most of the app's were blank in the Windows Startup menu were gone.)
I like your attention detail. The link to the commands on your site are in the same order as in the video making them easy to locate. Nice job, I like a clean fast computer, thanks.
I dual booted for years and finally scrapped windows just before their recent update fiasco. Their updates took way too long anyway. I wonder if their updates took over an hour only to fail 😬 Glad I did it.
Thank you for this tutorial, I'll add one more thing for people that has an unresponsive or sluggish windows 10: I've found out that firefox was eating all my memory for some reason, and after using it for about 30 minutes the windows start menu and user interface would get laggy and unresponsive. So I stopped using Firefox and switched to "Slimjet". After that I've noticed a huge improvement in the overall perfomance.
Thank you for your tutorial, your work had helped me a lot, all the CPU, memory and disk percentage in Task manager has reduced significantly, from 80~99% to 22~60%, my laptop's turn on speed has increased so much that I thought I have put it to sleep yesterday, I knew there're viewers who threaten you for their mistake in the process, but for real, thank you for your work 👍👍👍
I really want to thank you for this video. I did what you suggested to my 2017 Surface Pro, which has been almost unusable in the past year or so. Now, it feels snappy like the day I purchased it.
Thanks chris! These are some good tips to keep your windows 10 operating smoothly. Most of what's on here I've already done on my system periodically, but those bloatware keys in the registry I'd honestly overlooked. Cheer mate.
Wow, that was great to find. Got rid of Win10 shortly after launch as all i read was that it was Bloatware/Spyware, and moved to Ubuntu....boy, what that a mistake. Back to Windows 10 now and hoping it's more stable and secure/Privacy friendly than it was at launch. Great vid. Thanks.
Check out Linux Mint if you don't want to get too deep into Arch based stuff. All the machines I have installed it on have worked flawlessly. With the exception of a Mac Book that i had to install something for WiFi. If it wasn't for a few games and programs that are Windows specific, I would go back to Linux in a heartbeat.
You are awesome. I put windows 10 on an old Toshiba laptop I have at work. It is all it can do to run windows 10. This really helps a lot. Thank you so much!!!!
The amount of "Erase Windows, Install Linux" comments is so ridiculous. Some people cannot make that switch! I dual boot Win 10 and Mint. Yea I have a copy of Windows running under VBox for Photoshop, etc. but you still cannot run many apps or games like Far Cry, Battlefield, etc. Sadly for now Windows is a necessary evil for some people. Dual booting is still not a guaranteed easy feat for total non-techies.
Agree. I've been wanting to switch my HP Omen laptop to a Linux distro, but it seems that laptops with hybrid graphics ( It has a GTX 1050 Ti and Intel HD Graphics 620) are a massive nightmare to get to work correctly. I tried Kali Linux and Parrot OS on it (I know they're security-oriented systems), but it was a massive pain to even get the discreet card working correctly. And even then, it wasn't as seamless as on Windows.
After following all the steps, i now get adverts poping up on my screen! Yes it fast but not safe- my experience. Doing a clean fresh installation of Windows is my next option.
Just before minute 4, its talk about using that one liner in PowerShell to set Richard's debloat script off. You say it downloads and runs the script??. Is that actually true. Does it download and run the script or somehow run it over the internet? Alan

Avoid using AIO programs like Debloater. I’ve seen so many reports saying they cannot revert the changes such as removing Windows components and are unable to install Windows applications that require these like Windows Store unless they do a full reinstall.

hey man, great videos. since you work in IT I would like to know why all IT shops are pushing cloud solution. And if you can make a video on that. what cloud and virtualization environment IT professionals are using with their clients.
Kind of surprised when I looked into using this approach. The video said I didnt need to download anything and then the first step tells me to download a script that runs in a powerful system utility as admin. not sure what it does but it can do anything with those credentials assigned.
Captain here: The amount of sheep following this without thinking is astonishing. The remove all button removes important programs as well that are necessary for the system to function properly. Incredible that the video has so many upvotes. It's a big problem that the buttons don't specify what each one is doing, that's a giant no-go as well. It also lacks a rollback function... unbelieveable.

Haha very nice
My Mac Pro boots to: 1) Mac OSX Yosemite - 2) WIN10 - 3) WIN XP - 4) Linux Mint 20. The slowest OS of all 4 is Mint, while the quickest and most stable *by far* is Windows XP.
Got Mint on my secondary PC, but for many work-related programms you need Windows. While I cannot say how much faster my PC got with this, it
1.: still works (wich is nice)
2.: did not lose any important functionality (also nice)
3.: feels snappier, but feelings can lie, so... nice, I guess

Simply: thank you, Chris!

For those who argue is no faster & lightly after doing these steps...imo i can promise you it is! Thanks again you have a great channel right here
True.

This would have been a good solution if Linux wasn't dog shit.
Will TH-cam still work?

Thank you for doing this Chris. Its a shame that big companies dont even consider Linux as a viable platform. As long they dont do this, Liunx will never catch up with Windows. On the other side, when people stick with Windows, nothing will change at all.
Have done my first debloat with a customized Blacklist and want to kanow some things:
1- Will disabling "Microsoft remote desktop" prevent me from Teamviewering or Zooming ?
Clean up 10 Windows in 3 steps:
