Delayed startup is quite useful for a lot of services. Keep the ones that you know you want to start immediately on automatic and change the others to delay them which basically throttles them for a minute or two then starts them up automatically. It just smooths over the startup process a slight bit, but is worth doing on a weaker system.
My favorite feature is actually a registry hack: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\ShowSecondsInSystemClock DWORD=1 It makes Windows show the time down to the second in the systray. Not sure why this isn't selectable for normal users without regedit. I mean, I use this on LITERALLY EVERY Windows machine I use. I even used it on the PCs I was issued at the last 2 companies I worked for.

You pointed out how the Disk Management tool can be dangerous, but what's more dangerous is DiskPart because if you issue a clean command within DiskPart, it blows away all the partitions on the selected disk with absolutely no warning. But, you can recover your partitions with your favorite partition recovery software, as long as you haven't written anything to the disk after your "accident". It takes many, many hours, depending on the size of the disk.

The main difference between a background process and a service is that the service runs in its own session, which in practice means it keeps running when you log out and starts before you have logged in. Usually they run under a system account which has full access to all files also but it can be configured. A background process on the other hand starts like your normal program and your normal user and quits when you log out. I know this because I've worked for a software company and we had to package parts of our suite as service for some of our customers for this exact reason.

@7:11 "Group Policy Editor" [gpedit.msc] is not available/disabled in "Home" versions of Windows. It only works in "Pro" versions and higher. The same things can be done in "Home" but must be done through the "Registry" [regedit] and is extremely difficult. [super advanced.] If you mess with the registry and don't know what you are doing, you can screw up the computer in a hurry. My go-to method for opening the startup folder is to simply type "startup" in the address bar of the file explorer and hit enter. You jump right there. Another good tip is the net1 command. It functions identically to net, but was created as a failsafe back during the Y2K scare, and was just never removed from any subsequent version of Windows. In an office environment the administrator might disable the net command for standard users, but they usually forget about net1 so you can use that as a workaround. Lastly, I would suggest that everyone know how to map network folders to a drive letter. This is particularly handy if you maintain a SharePoint site collection or something like that, you can map that server URL to a drive letter and interact with the file system directly.

True, composite devices are often just devices made of several devices that work independently (like webcams with integrated microphones). I guess a drive can pop up as such a device in certain cases, but even composite devices pop up as the individual subdevices in addition to being summed up as composite (settings of the composite device gives a good list usually)
They should be listed under "Disk drives". Be prepared for strange names though, not necessarily matching the brand. More interesting is "View", "Devices by connection" which lets you see the internal organisation of the PC.

You had the startup folder, along the same vein, I like the SendTo folder, you can drop shortcuts in it for the right click menu. For example, a shortcut for notepad. Then you can send any file to notepad from the right click menu without "open with" (i find this great for config files that aren't necessarily 'txt' files)

My work has made me appreciate Windows 10 more and more. Because I work as a QA tester, and sometimes if a few of my company's customers use older systems we have to test our apps for proper legacy support. Sometimes going as far back as Windows 2000, and that sure ain't fun to use nowadays.
Question: Can Window's 10 File Manager be forced to ALWAYS show details unless I specify otherwise? I've lost count of how many times I've tried to convince File Manager I want details, but inevitably it reverts back to large icons, even within the same session (and even after Options > View > Apply to Folders).

Some services do have foreground interfaces. MDaemon a windows based email system some application starts as a service. Launch the app again most of the time hooks into the service and has only one instance of the program running.
One thing that's helped me a number of times ... Command prompt in admin mode, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes. This scans your PC and checks that windows system files are correct and fixes ones that aren't. Don't forget the space after sfc.
In some of the later versions of windows, getting to computer management, device manager, disk manager, and many other features can be accessed through the start menu context menu by right clicking on the start menu. Give it a try and impress your friends.

ThingJing i laughed at that like crazy LOL
Does there need to be a space after “GodMode.” Before the code-thing? Or does it matter if there’s a space?

*Realizes that it actually doesn't make ur Windows PC a god where u can pray and make wishes*
Also me: 😭😭😭 I'm such a fool.
That's because you do not have true faith and haven't accepted your PC as your god and savior
After not watching this channel for years, I really though this was an elaborate prank, but then googled god mode and I was the one who bamboozled my self, I’m sure I’ve heard thiojoe tell me to download ram before years ago lol

16:01 what is the unallocated for? i mean is that useful?
My work has made me appreciate Windows 10 more and more. Because I work as a QA tester, and sometimes if a few of my company's customers use older systems we have to test our apps for proper legacy support. Sometimes going as far back as Windows 2000, and that sure ain't fun to use nowadays.
Group Policy Editor is not available for Windows Home. Only available in Windows Pro/Enterprise editions.
This definitely not Thio Joe
Thing jing didn't do click-bait
Is the Device Manager in the Computer Management window the same as the Device Manager available thru Win+X?
Win+X Brings up Windows Mobility Centre not Device manager

Question: Can Window's 10 File Manager be forced to ALWAYS show details unless I specify otherwise? I've lost count of how many times I've tried to convince File Manager I want details, but inevitably it reverts back to large icons, even within the same session (and even after Options > View > Apply to Folders).

I have a question. To disable the Super administrative account you type in the same command but the "active: yes" is turned to "active: no"?
Does anyone know the ThioJoe video that described how to make tabs in Windows 10 Explorer? Thanks!
Your videos are just mesmerizing to watch. Me knowing that there's more to a computer than meats the eye makes me want to come back for more.
Hey Thio there was a windows feature that I forgot that you mentioned before where it shows you the performance scale of your computer or it would like show when your computer shutdown or something due to a bluescreen. I really don't remember but it showed a line graph and I really forgot its contents.
hmm this sounds like two windows features, event viewer and performance monitor in task manager. uh. 1 year late, well. you tell me, better than nothing?
12:29 do you need to use the control panel to get to that
I'm in window 10 home

Hi, do you have a way for my computer to show a message when the battery is fully charged? Thanks
