If you are a parent such as myself, trust me this device is godsend.
If your concern is battery life, you probably won't have even an hour to play anyway so you're all good.

lol thats true, its a rare day you can burn through a whole battery in a sitting

In the typical situations where I can play, I'm usually within arms reach of a power outlet anyway. Also a thing detractors usually fail to mention is that the 1.5 hour battery life is an absolute worse case scenario where you're running a highly demanding game and pushing the Deck as hard as you can. Most of what I play gives me between 4 - 6 hours. (Like I have time to play for that long though.)

@@The8bitbeard Indeed! You do have to set your expectations going in to steam deck. 90 minutes game time is indeed an exaggeration. I've had mine for a month now and I'm yet to burn through the steam deck's battery life all the way to 0.
I think most of those are people aiming for 60 fps and high graphics settings. Of course you'd barely get 2 hours on that. I, however, have had mine set to 30fps at 60hz or 40fps at 40hz. Didn't notice quite a big difference in power consumption except, 40/40 is a tad more demanding on the CPU.

    • @Alex-nk8bw
      @Alex-nk8bw ปีที่แล้ว +5

True. Nice little 30 min bites, whenever you get a little breather. 😉 And if you know how to tweak the Deck properly, you can play Cyberpunk or Horizon Zero Dawn, and still get 2,5-3 hours of battery life if you want to.

They're shutting down the Wii U and 3ds eshops today. Before that they shut down the Wii and DSi eshops. If you buy a decent library on the Switch (At a higher price than PC.) you can expect Nintendo to shut down the shop and bar you from your purchases in the future. Meanwhile, I've had my Steam account for 19 years and I can play every game I've ever bought on it no problem. PC and Steam Deck is an investment in the future. Ever since the motherboard on my gaming laptop fried, rendering it not much more than a $1000 paperweight, I've been looking at a Steam Deck. For me it's the portability and also being able to mod games like you would on PC, as well as having a device that can emulate pretty much any console(since Nintendo refuses to put Gamecube games on the Switch). This video definitely helps with my internal debate.

It's crazy how so many Steam deck owners are Switch owners who were just tired of not being able to get more out it lol.
While I love Nintendo and their exclusives, their catalog just isn't great enough/large enough to justify it being my only console. I used to lie to myself and say "I've been playing nintendo since a kid; this console is all I need!"
Then go weeks; maybe even months without touching my OLED. Got super tired of the watered-down ports, fucking endless amount of rpgs and 16-bit games, and the biggest culprit: Little to no first person shooters. or just shooters in general.
And unfortunately a ps5 or xbox just wouldn't cut it for me. I got waaay too used to portable gaming and don't ever wanna look back lol.
The Steam Deck is my dream device. Never thought I'd see the day I'd be playing AAA games like Elden Ring, MW2, Destiny 2, FFVII:Remake, or Cyberpunk 2077 portably while there's down time at work. Shit is crazy.

Subscription scams is what made me give up on console gaming, and it was the best decision I made. I was always concerned with PC gaming, since I didn't know anything about it and it seemed so complicated... Well, I still don't know much about PC gaming, but I can manage to play my games on Linux which run games ridiculously better than on Windows. I still had to buy another PC running Windows for MW2019 and MW2. I also have my 64GB Deck upgraded to 1TB storage, at first I did replace the NVMe storage to 256GB which was pretty good, but a deal on Amazon for the 1TB made me reconsider.
Now I haven't even bothered with the new gen consoles, I got tired of subscription scams, and pretty much all of my favorite games, I already repurchase on Steam, which have games on sell every week.
So, I'd suggest anyone to get at least a Steam Deck, you buy a dock and you have a desktop PC as well

I have two 20 somethings in the house, middle-aged me and the wife, so I guessed that it would be a good way for everyone to get out of the house, go to a coffee shop together and sit around with two switches, one steam deck and one mobile phone. Me and the kids playing games outside and my wife reading the news while we are all out for coffee. The good thing about games and that you can pause and have a conversation about a game or just sit together watching each other play.

I have a friend who doesn't game but is always really interested in the games I play. She has a Macbook and doesn't see the point of switching to PC just to play games (or simply, why buy a new computer). The Deck is perfect for her because she can play it handheld and be comfortable, it has access to Steam which basically has access to every major release, and things like specs don't matter as long as it runs. For $400, it's what the Switch was meant to do but without being locked into Nintendo and with more processing power. The Switch is more like a required accessory to access those special Nintendo and indie games, but the Deck is just one of the many ways to access major titles. I'd always recommend getting a Switch, but maybe not as a primary console.

Also train journeys fly by when gaming on iPad but I feel most iPad games are aimed at younger people. Going for the top model as not a practical person . As a primarily PC gamer that uses a modded PSVita and 2DSXL for portable gaming, the Steam Deck is definitely right up my alley.
Don't have to re-purchace any of my games, just download them from my library, so it'll save me money there. As soon as I'm getting steady pay from my new job I'm 100% getting one, it'll be perfect, especially with the cloud saves from Steam, I can play Spider-Man Remastered on my breaks at work, around the house, visiting a friend or something and just keep playing at home on my PC. Plus the versatility of the Steam Deck, you can play almost any game on it, even Minecraft Java or Bedrock with a bit of tinkering can run perfectly, hell I could even emulate any of my current portables. I could continue my Animal Crossing New Leaf save on the Steam Deck, I could even play Mario Kart on the same console I play high end PC/console games on.
Can't wait to get one, honestly this video sold me completely. There's only ONE game I regularly play that isn't on the Deck (Rainbow Six Siege) but that doesn't bother me at all. One game out of the hundreds I have/want being unplayable isn't a downside whatsoever, if anything keeping me off of Siege is a good thing 😂😂

I got 4.5 out of 5 of those myself. While i dont care to tinker too much, I want the ability to be able to mess with things if i need to. So i think my search will conclude with a steam deck for a handheld, plus already having almost 200 steam games that i havent touched in over a decade maybe, helps the decision too. But now do i spend the money on the oled, or cheap out and probably still be happy with the lcd.
Vampire survivors is the game that promted me to realize i could really benefit from a handheld device. Ive been playing it on my phone through game pass cloud gaming. I used to have a psp years and years ago and i loved it but it didnt catch on enough back then like the switch has. I dont really care much for most of the Nintendo games and there isnt anything exclusive to them that I would miss playing so I fell off the gameboy wagon after the micro.
The playing when you have 10 minutes is basically my life. I tend to read a lot of ebooks and will open kindle when i have more than a minute or two to wait. I miss playing video games though and i cant responsibly hide away in my room on the xbox while my younger kids around destroying rooms unsupervised. Being able to engage with my younger kids, while playing a match of something with the oldest through crossplay, and chilling on the couch seems like a pretty great deal.

My personal situation is that i already have my gaming setup: decent PC, my consoles (PS2, PS3 Slim, WiiU, Switch, PSVita, 3DS, PSP), but the issue is that i live offgrid, i'm not connected to the electric grid, i have solar panels, batteries and i'm completely independant, this is good because i don't get a heart attack with each bill, because there are none (except for the internet), but the thing is that there are days in which there isn't much sun, so i have to keep track on power consumption, i originally build my PC the consume as few watts as possible (managed a really good balance between price/performance/consumption with a Ryzen 3700X and a RX 6700 non XT), but even with that there are days which i can't use it due to it's consumption, or many of the other consoles (except for the portables), my solution to this has been the steam deck, it's incredible performance at such low power consumption has honestly surprised me, being able to run through an entire day of playing every now and then without sucking power like a madman, and even capable of letting me keep going on my studies and blender projects.
If you want or need a low power device because you live offgrid the steam deck along with other portable solutions like the Aya neo Pro 2 might be good contenders in front of more traditional laptops that tend to go above 100W in consumption if you're looking at gaming or professional devices.

Number one reason why I'd buy it ,, but I'm still on the fence , If I should do it ...I live out of my vehicle how many of the games can I actually play without Internet access? my Internet... Like McDonald's or public library parking lot.. All of which I'm using right now .. I use the Internet on my switch.. everything works no problem with the online gaming .. also sitting too much is extremely bad for you , u are right. about moving around , i Never realized how important it is.. until I started living out of my vehicle.. I'm never able to lay down Going on five years.. I sit in my car driver seat and fall asleep.. I actually raise my feet for at least an hour a day because otherwise your legs will get filled with water because I don't lay down... your feet will end up hurting... My iPad Pro doesn't cut it I have a switch but it's nothing great I would like to be able to burn onto SD cards so I can play songs in my library ,, In my car .. Or even pirate movies.. i've been on the fence for a little while I'm just confused to which exact model I should get I know the hard drives upgradable but is there a difference between the cheaper models SD card reader and the higher end models? Is it really noticeable

I always like adding one of my fav parts about the steam deck is its 45 watt total system tdp i can run that baby off a modest portable solar panel all day long and game anywhere anytime regardless in tough times thats awseome!!!!!

They will for the next few years , they’re approaching it with a console generation like approach. I think Valve will bridge the pc and console gap with this device.

You can play fucking Final Fantasy VII Remake on it without any major issues, with minor issues being minimal to none. That’s a huge accomplishment for today, it’s one of the more graphically intense games on the market. Steam Deck is the best purchase I’ve ever made in my gaming life so far.

Hello, it seems i don’t share the same feeling than everyone concerning steam deck : i got one with the 10% birthday offer, and i asked a refund :
A bit too heavy, with handling a bit off.
Some old games were not running , i didn’t took time to see if there were solutions i must admit.
Resolution is a bit better than switch, but not so much.
Many Playstation games are interesting me, but they are expensive on steam plateform, i can find them for half or a third of the price on PS, and play them remotemy on a tablet (with really less lag if i m at home, cause dual sense is connected directly to PS5).
Well, it didn t fit my needs (but i totally understand people who liking it)

ive had a PC gaming setup for years. and Ive had steam for over a decade now and Im thinking of getting a steam deck. because I want portability. I played my daughters nintendo switch and the only game I really liked was Super Mario Odyssey. I have already so many games on steam so it just makes sense to get one.

You forgot a key feature! It's a full-blown PC, meaning that you can even work with it! I do Office work, 3D printing modeling, slicing and managing, video editing, or simply web browsing and youtube viewing in bed flawlessly! either under Linux or Windows 11, so it becomes basically the tiniest most powerful PC there is!
