Very interesting your comments on sphagnum. Years ago I bought mounted Masdevallias from Australia which used sphagnum. They struggled like are others since. Must try some local moss next time.
Thanks Waren for the great video. I mounted a couple of dockrillias yesterday with bush moss. I omitted using the bug killer unfortunately. Do you think it’s worth mr taking it apart because bugs are often an issue? Only used a couple of small pieces after soaking and picking most of the clay out of it. Cheers

Yes Sphagnum moss is great in a pot but fails on a mount unless you are able to never let it dry out.
nice mounting..wish i had supply of that moss around my yard.
Yes it would be handy but I don't have to travel too far to get some.

Should be fine. I use the bug killer once a year. I just lay the mounts on the floor overnight with a sprinkle on them.
