I don't think we've seen the full story yet, nearly every creator trying to test this seems to have Very different results, testing methods and definately think the cause/fix is different.... I too have seen different results than you (7900x W11, 5700x W10/W11, 5950x W10/W11, 3950x W10/11 is what i've been testing with but haven't had a 9xxx to test with yet) :-) Thanks @TYC :-)

I have a R7 7700X with 32GB 6000MT/s(or Mhz as people are used to that) and CL30 what should I use for infinity fabric to get the best experience(fastest, snappiest, best performance what not)? I have a Gigabyte B650 Gaming X motherboard.
@@AndreiB617 Usually it works in steps, you can be lucky and get 2133mhz on infinity and then couple that with 6400, but usually on all my setups 2067 and 6200 is the best.
Went from Win 10 to Win 11 and got bombarded with terrible bugs, ads, bad UI choices and software issues. Now I know how Windows XP users felt switching to Vista.
It's kind of crazy that the best case scenarios for Ryzen 9000 is either going back to Windows 10, or using a Linux Distro. Huge fumble from Microsoft here. They're not making their "latest and greatest" OS look any more attractive...
Who cares. Windows 11 sucks. Edit: News flash to others, you don't need to "upgrade" your OS every time a new one is released. I went from XP to Windows 8. Completely skipped vista, and It's not going to be the last time. By the time I'm ready to leave Windows 10, Windows 11 will be fixed or a new OS will be released.

Am happy on Nobara 40 KDE. Most games run well with Steam or Steam Compatibility (Bottles/Lutris also are options). Proton has a database of game compatibility and how well it should run etc. I still have one pc on 10 LTSC, that still is good while it lasts. Anticheat games at the kernel level is the last hurdle though.
Been saying this for a while now, then all these windows 11 articles and videos pop up when I came back to aus... surprised people are maining this to benchmark...

Lets get gaming on Linux trending. Ride windows 10 until they discontinue support, then drop Windows entirely. Microsoft claimed Windows 10 would be the last version lets make them correct.
We're almost there thanks to many of Valve's improvements specific to the Steam Deck, that translate over flawlessly to using Proton as your primary gaming distro on desktop. There are just a few holdout features I'm waiting for to make it a reality.
I also find it hard to believe, but after trying it I realized that it does improve a lot and you have fewer operating problems. Now I managed to activate my Windows 10 thanks to BNH Software.
It is better to leave Core Isolation on. Else you leave a door open for hackers to take over your whole entire system. Most games, esp at 1440p, are GPU-bound anyway.
@@PREDATEURLT I know you haven't tried linux in a while because none of this has been remotely true for years. Steam has their compatibility software that works flawless on every game I've tested so far. Most distro's have the ability to automatically execute .exe under wine and performance hasn't regressed a single time with the caveat of CPU bugs.

Well, in fairness, just how much money is MS even making on windows? It's not like Azure is all windows machines anymore, and that seems to be where the money is.
I'm blown away by how poor of a user experience Win11 is offering. Not only is it stealing 10-20% performance but it's using it to wad things in that we don't want like AI spying on us and more ads. They've lost the plot.
They really have, they are using react for core OS components, you know the web 'framework' that powers Facebook, who thought that was a good idea to use web stuff to power our OS 😂
I've been using LTSB/LTSC since 2016 and I'm currently on Windows 10 IoT LTSC 21H2. No bloatware and end of life is 2032. Best decision I made OS wise ...
I just installed yesterday. Its great. My motherboard died, new mobo asked for new activation on windows 11. Just fresh installed win 10 ltsc.dont know if windows killed my previous mobo.
I used to be a IOT LTSC 21H2 until January 2024, I really enjoyed tweaking and debloating that windows version even more and got very good results with it Now I am using Linux (Nobara) not because I hated windows 11 (I was a W10 LTSC user...) but because emulation and gaming performance were better there
I actually just switched back to windows 10 after the most recent update. Windows 11 eliminated a bunch of the old registry entries that allowed you to mod it to have windows 10 home and start menu options. With those options gone I was annoyed enough to switch back. I don't think windows 11 looks better and I don't think it works better, and I hate the arbitrary security standard that made some CPU's and platforms as new as like 5 years old at the time of it's launch to not work with it. Here's to hoping they figure things out and the next kick as the can isn't so restrictive that a large portion of modern machines simply cannot run it.
I hope they make it more restrictive and require an online ID to log in so no one adopts it and Microsoft finally can leave the desktop software space.
"Clicking bad links and going to dodgy websites" is not where the malware comes from. It comes from the advertisements on what people would otherwise presume was a safe website like TH-cam, Facebook, Reddit, and the like. An adblocker is the most effective anti-malware tool for most people.
And the great thing is that google made chromium manifest v3 specifically so it is not as effective at intercepting. That when the governments task force for cybersecurity recommends adblockers.
Easy to think that. But then you remember how Microsoft worked in secret with AMD to port XP to AMD64, turning Itanium into a dead end, and forcing Intel to abandon their grand plans, and license AMD64. Is also easy to forget what CPUs and GPUs are in the Xbox. Microsoft may assign more engineers to work with Intel in the PC space, but you'd have to recognise the fact that Intel has 80% market share, and they've made the biggest architectural changes lately in the form of big.LITTLE. AMD has to wear some of the blame for apparently failing to perform regression testing internally to catch issues like this. The fact they were blindsided by meh at best reviews of r7 demonstrates that whatever team they have internally was asleep at the wheel. They know who the big tech tubers are, their benchmark selection, and settings are public. It's trivial to reproduce their results (with some caveats) and thus forecast their response fairly accurately. They didn't. They were asleep.
@@myne00 That's kind of a lame comparison. AMD64 extensions were actually a lot less work to add because AMD went out of their way to make them very similar to x86, and even then they did it half-assed for XP. Intel made Itanium completely different and it was a bear to optimize for. Microsoft still hasn't got down optimization for non x86 derived architectures. Windows 11 was specifically released to put in the new Intel scheduler.

@@Maitreya3001 Ancient Gameplays doesn't really do apples to apples with the 5800x3d. Certainly doesn't do it with the level of methodology shown in this video. I'd ask HUB to do it with the 5800x3d, but this coverage found things that HUB hadn't addressed completely.
😂 Heard of Windows 10? Why do you even need Windows 11? I've never needed the newest operating system. I've taken every OS I've used to EOL since windows 2000. Even skipped multiple OS releases, like Vista and Win 7. Edit: Btw, they will eventually fix all the bugs in Windows 11, just like they did in Windows 10.
I can’t believe that they’d load the Intel scheduler when it’s an AMD CPU. Are you sure about this? There doesn’t need to be only one scheduler that comes with the OS.
@@bdhale34 i understand that, but that's not the scheduler. Schedulers are, I believe (though I've never written one) much easier to replace than optimizing code paths. The former should be drop-in replacements; the latter requires studying bytecode and doing instruction-level performance analysis before you make any changes, and that's all on the burden of one developer. AMD surely has their own scheduler already ready because they have one job, and one job only: to support their parts.
@@STONE69_That is only on copilot+ PCs which as of right now only are only enabled on snapdragon arm laptops. The feature should come to amds zen 5 laptop chips though since their npu meets the requirements. You can also disable it for good with registry edits.
The intel scheduler is build into the CPU not windows. With intels 12, 13, 14gen and the laptop core ultra things. windows 11 just lets in do its thing. Thats what i belive and what i have learned. Could be wrong. If so i would like prof of the other think cause nobody benefits from a he said she said think in the comments.
I've been using it daily for a few years now. Only problem is some online games where the anti-cheat refuses to support linux otherwise, everything is far superior on linux.
@@J-Kimble I watched the other day thaty EASY-CHEAT, one of the many anti-cheat softwares, was enabled in The Finals, the Devs enabled it, and its been working on the SteamDeck if you run it with Proton HotFix. In time this will also change, Valve changed gaming with the SteamDeck, with SteamOS, soon to be SteamOS4.0 and its ProtonDB layer. The Gaming industry will adopt. They can see the Stats of people playing and what there playing and on what. Windows aims to become a Subscription Service just like Adobe. Where you don't install software but simply run apps. It's great and really come a long way in the past 3 years I am maining Nobara KDE. Steam is invaluable and I'm so grateful to Valve. I've been Windows free (from dual boot/distro hopping) for months now, feels good to be clean.
I think the main reason is that more people use Intel, so why wouldn't Microsoft spend more time optimizing for it or using an Intel scheduler? Given that 71% of laptop CPUs and 64% of all desktop computers are Intel-based, it makes sense for Microsoft to prioritize optimization for Intel. here is no evidence or transactional records of Intel being involved in this. So this is all microsfot. It is also possible that Windows 11 is using an Intel scheduler, given that there are both AMD and Intel schedulers

You are still vulnerable to adware, trojans and other stuff which is executed on your machine because they designed to bypass win-defender and actually does not require advanced technics (like spectre and meltdown). Been running Win 11 since it came out and have had no problems with running it. Turning off CI was common knowledge way back then and you made sure to turn it off.
But aren't game developers doing the same thing, and been doing it for a long time? Looks like most games are optimized for Intel and Nvidia and not really optimized for AMD.
Something to think on. These TPM security features are what cripple performance, which is why they aren't on in Win 10 and they can be changed to be REQUIRED just like TPM 2.0 at any time by MS. The hardware manufacturers would want this because they can optimize "security" features to give better performance which would be an artificial need to upgrade over a real one and much cheaper that real gains due to cache or die shrinks. TPM is a cancer and this was tried with Win 8, abandoned and Win 11 tried to force it back in. BIOS revisions have also made it harder for normies to even find the TPM setting. I smell collusion with Microsoft and the CPU manufacturers and people should universally reject TPM.

Are AM4 CPU’s also affected by the performance issues in Win11? Cause I‘m using a 5700x3D and Win11. If I can have better performance with win10, I‘ll probably switch back.
I need to get back to studying up on linux and trying out distros in VMs. I'm a 100% Windows user, but I don't like the current trend of more and more elements of the control of the personal computer shifting to the cloud and external services and companies. I've been feeling that if I can somehow get myself to use it, linux will be a lot more sustainable to use than Windows where "end of support" is constantly pushing me towards stranger and stranger landscapes, losing more and more control. I like things simple and reliable and I want to assert robust local control over my own hardware and software.
I swear I am thinking about restoring my PC back to windows 10.. Thats what it came with and thats how I should have left it.. I'm on Zen 3 but I am sure those chips are taking a hit too because of the Window's schedulers too. thats was Zen 1's main issues to if everyone remembers?? And That's always been intel's best advantage over AMD.. Their ability to make Windows and all the games run slower on AMD!! That's their real super power, their chips aren't really any better.. It's all their partner's making them look that way!!!!

seems as though Temps increase when turning CI off on windows 11 by almost 5 degrees according to your videos. I am already sometimes hovering in some games at high 70's so not sure if I would feel comfortable using this. Of course, maybe I will try out myself Just to see. I have a 7800x3d. I don't see the problem? Intel made a mistake AMD has also made a mistake and had an exploding CPU. Also, Intel is trying to turn the company around with Arrow Lake and that is almost around the corner and is a project that Intel has been planning since 2021, which coincided with the appointment of its new CEO. The company has invested over $30 billion in efforts to catch up with TSMC, and much of this new technology will be used in its upcoming 15th and 16th-generation processors. The Arrow Lake architecture employs a 20A process node that is being manufactured by TSMC, which utilizes a 2.0nm process technology. Meanwhile, Intel's own 18A process node is being fabricated using a 1.8nm process. Intel even came out saying "Intel announced that it will be taking back the crown from TSMC in 2025 with its 18A process node.'

Based on some popular benchmarked games it seems to be fixed but with microsoft always f*ing up the OS you can never really know when they will strike again.
I did some tests with my 9800x3d and Memory Integrity still comes on by default on win 11 but when turning it off I get the same performance now as I would on win 10.
I find that strange because recently, with the lates experimental 24H2 releases I have been getting the best fps benches I've ever had from windows 10 or 11. (Disabling Memory integrity didn't make a difference) in between 10% and 30% gains even in 4k. In fact. pushing several of the games to the point of matching my 120hz monitor. (7900X3d/4090) Taking some games from a little over 90-100 fps to 110-130+fps. Maybe its because I'm using 12 core instead of 8 or 16?
XP should have been called, "oops, sorry about ME" Win 7 should have been called "oops sorry about Vista" Win 10 was "oops, sorry about 8" Now we are on 11, the next version will be an apology for this mess.
But 24H2 works good, it's worth noticing tho that some CPU's with 3D and most recent ones from 9th gen work better in many games when you pick "balanced power plan" in windows instead of "high performance" one

I might be the only person that has installed Windows 11 when they were testing it, and since then, not had a single problem ever. There is no reason for me to go back to Windows 10 (for now). Since performance etc. was never an issue. So many friends complained. I just never had any issues. So lets see what this video is about!
Just tried turning off the feature, and it actually ran a few fps slower without it. This is a new build of windows 11 pro with an MSI Pro B650-P, Ryzen 7 8600g, and 32 Gb's of 7200mhz DDR 5 7200mhz , Nvidia RTX 4070. I am going to try another boot dev of some sort for windows 10 and try it. As with every new version of windows, it becomes more memory intensive and inefficient with every rev. As has been my experience since windows 3.11. I'm kind of excited to see the differences. Also, if anyone out there has not updated your bios to the latest version within a few months, you might be clocked down, as there was a problem with the newer chips. I will switch to Linux when Nvidia is supported by the core. Umbutu 26 is reported that it will support this.
Yup, tried win11 had a pretty big drop in performance compounded with bugs. Went back to win10 and will stay on win10 till EoL than going full time linux. (been loving steam os on the deck)
Been running Linux Mint Cinnamon for two years and love it! Feels more like Windows XP, Vista, 7 days with modern hardware support. Haven't been back to Windows since. I really only play pre 2020 games and some going back to the early 2000s and for the large majority, they work out of the box. Very few require tweaks. Some need the same tweaks that Windows does for wide-screen support.

Had issues with 11 as well, performance was less, bsods, file explorer breaks. 10 LTSC is still going strong on one of my benchmarking/spare pcs. My main is Nobara 40 KDE 4090 everything runs great under Steam with Steam Compatibility GE Proton. New WoW expansion is running great. I've distro hopped in the past, Mint, Manjaro, ArcoLinux. Usually having Steam helps but I've also had luck in the past running bottles/lutris. I've been from dual boot to Windows free for months. I don't play games that have kernel level anticheat, maybe those can be run less effectively in a VM though most people dual boot for that reason. Anticheat does feel like that last hurdle.
I know the old “try Linux” is old but as someone who uses Linux exclusively and games on it, I urge tech oriented gamers to try it out. Gaming has gotten much better thanks to Valve. Yes, even on Nvidia cards.
I agree. Am on Nobara and use Steam (& Steam Compatibility) for almost everything gaming wise, on a 4090. On my AMD GPUs there's also experimental HDR, that's interesting.
Linux gaming is great till it breaks then you'll have to spend the next 24 hours patching up whatever issues that have arisen after a kernel update... also good luck trying to get that usb adapter running. No, Linux desktop for gaming is simply not ready yet.
I made a new build a couple days ago and who'd say - Gigabyte x870e Pro doesn't have Win 10 wifi and bt drivers. Nowhere on the box did it say that. Surprisingly, Intel variant has Win 10 drivers. So now I'm forced to go with Win 11 although I can't record music properly (buffer size won't go below 512), BT drivers uninstall themselves every couple of hours, a huge number of random glitches...
Windows 11 is version 10. Just run "Command Prompt" and the first line on my Windows 11 is "Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22631.4602]". 10 is the Major revision number of both Windows 10 and Windows 11
Makes me wonder if this applies to other generations like 1st gen Ryzen as well. There was a power plan AMD bundled with the chipset drivers for windows 10 at the time…maybe this is something they should do for Ryzen 9000 as well?
To be fair to Vista, computers that came out during the time of Windows 7 were so much better that we didn't notice any problems. Vista with all the latest updates available doesn't suck completely and is closer to 7. I actually like some stuff Vista has to offer. If we could get some of those Vista features in 7, we'd have a truly perfect Microsoft OS. Newer OSes past 7 tried to focus too much on blending tablet and desktop functionality and also started to exhibit ads/data collection. They should've forked it to focus on touchscreens instead of forcing it on desktop take me back to win 7
Well while this is good and all, Hardware Unboxed already did testing on the Windows 10 vs Windows 11 and surely enough, Windows 10 got much better performance. But the margin with which the Ryzen 7000 CPUs and Ryzen 9000 CPUs got the performance remained similar, which means their performance remained similar. Ryzen 9000 is getting bashed not for being a performance regression over its competitors or anything like that, it's getting bashed because it's not much better than the last-gen 7000 series in gaming specifically.

Core isolation helps defend against physics attacks (things like spectre and meltdown). Admin account runs faster too. HOWEVER you are more vulnerable to malware. So if you need to game create a game admin account thats locked down.
Windows 11 24H2 has been released to general public/out of testing. Please do take a look at it whether anything changed. I will be waiting for your video and remaining on Windows 10 for however long I can if the issues are not resolved.
I went Linux at home several months ago and it's been great. I've tried to switch several times over the past 15-20 years and I know this time I'm finally not going back to Windows. Every Steam game I own has worked with the click of a button.

We're almost there thanks to many of Valve's improvements specific to the Steam Deck, that translate over flawlessly to using Proton as your primary gaming distro on desktop. There are just a few holdout features I'm waiting for to make it a reality.

Steam has their compatibility software that works flawless on every game I've tested so far. Most distro's have the ability to automatically execute .exe under wine and performance hasn't regressed a single time with the caveat of CPU bugs.

I just installed yesterday. Its great. My motherboard died, new mobo asked for new activation on windows 11. Just fresh installed win 10 ltsc.dont know if windows killed my previous mobo.
I used to be a IOT LTSC 21H2 until January 2024, I really enjoyed tweaking and debloating that windows version even more and got very good results with it
Now I am using Linux (Nobara) not because I hated windows 11 (I was a W10 LTSC user...) but because emulation and gaming performance were better there
I actually just switched back to windows 10 after the most recent update. Windows 11 eliminated a bunch of the old registry entries that allowed you to mod it to have windows 10 home and start menu options. With those options gone I was annoyed enough to switch back. I don't think windows 11 looks better and I don't think it works better, and I hate the arbitrary security standard that made some CPU's and platforms as new as like 5 years old at the time of it's launch to not work with it.
Here's to hoping they figure things out and the next kick as the can isn't so restrictive that a large portion of modern machines simply cannot run it.

Microsoft always supported Intel while AMD was its stepchild... ;-) PS Win XP >7>10 user nothing in-between.

Is also easy to forget what CPUs and GPUs are in the Xbox.
Microsoft may assign more engineers to work with Intel in the PC space, but you'd have to recognise the fact that Intel has 80% market share, and they've made the biggest architectural changes lately in the form of big.LITTLE.
AMD has to wear some of the blame for apparently failing to perform regression testing internally to catch issues like this.
The fact they were blindsided by meh at best reviews of r7 demonstrates that whatever team they have internally was asleep at the wheel.
They know who the big tech tubers are, their benchmark selection, and settings are public. It's trivial to reproduce their results (with some caveats) and thus forecast their response fairly accurately.

AMD64 extensions were actually a lot less work to add because AMD went out of their way to make them very similar to x86, and even then they did it half-assed for XP. Intel made Itanium completely different and it was a bear to optimize for. Microsoft still hasn't got down optimization for non x86 derived architectures. Windows 11 was specifically released to put in the new Intel scheduler.

I can’t believe that they’d load the Intel scheduler when it’s an AMD CPU. Are you sure about this? There doesn’t need to be only one scheduler that comes with the OS.
Intel used to pay devs to use the intel assembler because it purposefully used slower code paths on non Intel CPUS for about a decade.
@@bdhale34 i understand that, but that's not the scheduler. Schedulers are, I believe (though I've never written one) much easier to replace than optimizing code paths. The former should be drop-in replacements; the latter requires studying bytecode and doing instruction-level performance analysis before you make any changes, and that's all on the burden of one developer. AMD surely has their own scheduler already ready because they have one job, and one job only: to support their parts.

@@STONE69_That is only on copilot+ PCs which as of right now only are only enabled on snapdragon arm laptops. The feature should come to amds zen 5 laptop chips though since their npu meets the requirements. You can also disable it for good with registry edits.
The intel scheduler is build into the CPU not windows. With intels 12, 13, 14gen and the laptop core ultra things. windows 11 just lets in do its thing.

I've been using it daily for a few years now. Only problem is some online games where the anti-cheat refuses to support linux otherwise, everything is far superior on linux.

I think the main reason is that more people use Intel, so why wouldn't Microsoft spend more time optimizing for it or using an Intel scheduler? Given that 71% of laptop CPUs and 64% of all desktop computers are Intel-based, it makes sense for Microsoft to prioritize optimization for Intel. here is no evidence or transactional records of Intel being involved in this. So this is all microsfot. It is also possible that Windows 11 is using an Intel scheduler, given that there are both AMD and Intel schedulers

Been running Win 11 since it came out and have had no problems with running it. Turning off CI was common knowledge way back then and you made sure to turn it off.

Something to think on. These TPM security features are what cripple performance, which is why they aren't on in Win 10 and they can be changed to be REQUIRED just like TPM 2.0 at any time by MS. The hardware manufacturers would want this because they can optimize "security" features to give better performance which would be an artificial need to upgrade over a real one and much cheaper that real gains due to cache or die shrinks. TPM is a cancer and this was tried with Win 8, abandoned and Win 11 tried to force it back in.
BIOS revisions have also made it harder for normies to even find the TPM setting. I smell collusion with Microsoft and the CPU manufacturers and people should universally reject TPM.

When Windows 11 dropped, I recall it getting like 10% better gaming performance vs. Windows 10. Something has happened.
I need to get back to studying up on linux and trying out distros in VMs. I'm a 100% Windows user, but I don't like the current trend of more and more elements of the control of the personal computer shifting to the cloud and external services and companies. I've been feeling that if I can somehow get myself to use it, linux will be a lot more sustainable to use than Windows where "end of support" is constantly pushing me towards stranger and stranger landscapes, losing more and more control. I like things simple and reliable and I want to assert robust local control over my own hardware and software.

Also, Intel is trying to turn the company around with Arrow Lake and that is almost around the corner and is a project that Intel has been planning since 2021, which coincided with the appointment of its new CEO. The company has invested over $30 billion in efforts to catch up with TSMC, and much of this new technology will be used in its upcoming 15th and 16th-generation processors.
The Arrow Lake architecture employs a 20A process node that is being manufactured by TSMC, which utilizes a 2.0nm process technology. Meanwhile, Intel's own 18A process node is being fabricated using a 1.8nm process. Intel even came out saying "Intel announced that it will be taking back the crown from TSMC in 2025 with its 18A process node.'
And this is why I still don't want to get rid of W10 even if Microsoft says it will be end of support. W11 is just purely dogcrap.

Based on some popular benchmarked games it seems to be fixed but with microsoft always f*ing up the OS you can never really know when they will strike again.
I did some tests with my 9800x3d and Memory Integrity still comes on by default on win 11 but when turning it off I get the same performance now as I would on win 10.

I find that strange because recently, with the lates experimental 24H2 releases I have been getting the best fps benches I've ever had from windows 10 or 11. (Disabling Memory integrity didn't make a difference) in between 10% and 30% gains even in 4k. In fact. pushing several of the games to the point of matching my 120hz monitor. (7900X3d/4090) Taking some games from a little over 90-100 fps to 110-130+fps. Maybe its because I'm using 12 core instead of 8 or 16?

There is no reason for me to go back to Windows 10 (for now). Since performance etc. was never an issue. So many friends complained. I just never had any issues. So lets see what this video is about!

Just tried turning off the feature, and it actually ran a few fps slower without it. This is a new build of windows 11 pro with an MSI Pro B650-P, Ryzen 7 8600g, and 32 Gb's of 7200mhz DDR 5 7200mhz , Nvidia RTX 4070. I am going to try another boot dev of some sort for windows 10 and try it. As with every new version of windows, it becomes more memory intensive and inefficient with every rev. As has been my experience since windows 3.11. I'm kind of excited to see the differences. Also, if anyone out there has not updated your bios to the latest version within a few months, you might be clocked down, as there was a problem with the newer chips. I will switch to Linux when Nvidia is supported by the core. Umbutu 26 is reported that it will support this.
Yup, tried win11 had a pretty big drop in performance compounded with bugs. Went back to win10 and will stay on win10 till EoL than going full time linux. (been loving steam os on the deck)
Been running Linux Mint Cinnamon for two years and love it! Feels more like Windows XP, Vista, 7 days with modern hardware support. Haven't been back to Windows since.
I really only play pre 2020 games and some going back to the early 2000s and for the large majority, they work out of the box. Very few require tweaks. Some need the same tweaks that Windows does for wide-screen support.

Had issues with 11 as well, performance was less, bsods, file explorer breaks. 10 LTSC is still going strong on one of my benchmarking/spare pcs. My main is Nobara 40 KDE 4090 everything runs great under Steam with Steam Compatibility GE Proton. New WoW expansion is running great. I've distro hopped in the past, Mint, Manjaro, ArcoLinux. Usually having Steam helps but I've also had luck in the past running bottles/lutris. I've been from dual boot to Windows free for months. I don't play games that have kernel level anticheat, maybe those can be run less effectively in a VM though most people dual boot for that reason. Anticheat does feel like that last hurdle.
You can safely overclock and undervolt the 14700kf if you're worried about any problems, no point underclocking and locking cores away.

I agree. Am on Nobara and use Steam (& Steam Compatibility) for almost everything gaming wise, on a 4090. On my AMD GPUs there's also experimental HDR, that's interesting.
Without anti-cheat support, you're limited to single-player games on Linux.

Linux gaming is great till it breaks then you'll have to spend the next 24 hours patching up whatever issues that have arisen after a kernel update... also good luck trying to get that usb adapter running. No, Linux desktop for gaming is simply not ready yet.
I made a new build a couple days ago and who'd say - Gigabyte x870e Pro doesn't have Win 10 wifi and bt drivers. Nowhere on the box did it say that. Surprisingly, Intel variant has Win 10 drivers. So now I'm forced to go with Win 11 although I can't record music properly (buffer size won't go below 512), BT drivers uninstall themselves every couple of hours, a huge number of random glitches...

Windows 11 is version 10. Just run "Command Prompt" and the first line on my Windows 11 is "Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.22631.4602]". 10 is the Major revision number of both Windows 10 and Windows 11
Makes me wonder if this applies to other generations like 1st gen Ryzen as well. There was a power plan AMD bundled with the chipset drivers for windows 10 at the time…maybe this is something they should do for Ryzen 9000 as well?

To be fair to Vista, computers that came out during the time of Windows 7 were so much better that we didn't notice any problems. Vista with all the latest updates available doesn't suck completely and is closer to 7. I actually like some stuff Vista has to offer. If we could get some of those Vista features in 7, we'd have a truly perfect Microsoft OS. Newer OSes past 7 tried to focus too much on blending tablet and desktop functionality and also started to exhibit ads/data collection. They should've forked it to focus on touchscreens instead of forcing it on desktop take me back to win 7
I loved Vista, because I had hardware that could run it. Plus it is still one of the best looking OSs they have done.

Well while this is good and all, Hardware Unboxed already did testing on the Windows 10 vs Windows 11 and surely enough, Windows 10 got much better performance. But the margin with which the Ryzen 7000 CPUs and Ryzen 9000 CPUs got the performance remained similar, which means their performance remained similar. Ryzen 9000 is getting bashed not for being a performance regression over its competitors or anything like that, it's getting bashed because it's not much better than the last-gen 7000 series in gaming specifically.

Core isolation helps defend against physics attacks (things like spectre and meltdown). Admin account runs faster too. HOWEVER you are more vulnerable to malware. So if you need to game create a game admin account thats locked down.
Upgrading windows is never good
Windows 11 24H2 has been released to general public/out of testing. Please do take a look at it whether anything changed. I will be waiting for your video and remaining on Windows 10 for however long I can if the issues are not resolved.

The reason I am staying with 11 is Auto HDR gaming, recently played God of war on HDR and the experience was out of this world

I went Linux at home several months ago and it's been great. I've tried to switch several times over the past 15-20 years and I know this time I'm finally not going back to Windows. Every Steam game I own has worked with the click of a button.
