I spent only 3 days at Shaolin and I didn't want to record every single moment. I tried my best to create a somewhat coherent & interesting video with the footage I had. Hopefully this gave you some small insights into what life/nature is like there.

This is my dream life as well. As a girl I was having problems in schools and dropped out when I was 14. Luckily my parents asked me to stay in a temple for three months (but not training for Kungfu), it opened my eyes for so many things and I felt unprecedented peaceful in my mind. I went back to school sense then. Now I'm 20 and trapped in daily trifles just like everyone does, but I cannot forget that sense of peaceful and wish to go back there again.

Beautiful. I've spent about 5 years periodically doing training under the guidance of Shi Yan Fan, who happens to be one of the incredibly rare westerners who complete the entire process and become ordained shaolin warrior monks (he also was one of the first in a LONG time to receive the Jieba, which is also impressive), and the experience I've had is NOTHING compared to what you have gone through. I feel that one of these days I will go to the temple and train there eventually, but until then, I will just have to keep working hard to reach that point. Huge props to you for going through with it.

I did nowhere near as much time in China as you, but when I spent the entirety of two summer breaks in dengfeng this video just brings me back, man. I trained at xiao long wu yuan, which about 30 mins away from where you were, the videos you took of the sanda fighters, the synchronized jogging stories, (we would wake up at 5, and the entire school would slowly walk out of the school and jog about a kilometer down the road in the street with the cars with our thumbs tucked in and lines of 4x8 while matching everybody's pace in a chain of students 3 kilometers long), and just the beauty of the foggy days on song shan really takes me back. Thank you for making these videos, they really bring me back, man

    Goosebumps man...and some manly tears...

As a shaolin kung fu practitioner myself, I have to ask... why did you leave at all? I know the western way of life is hard to let go, but was there a reason in particular? I'm currently stuck in my country, but I have considered many times to just let go of everything and dedicate my life whole-fully to kung fu.
