Nice to see Bumblebee’s nemesis Barricade has been added to the G1 universe. The Michael Bay films may have been not perfect but I think Barricade was one of the better characters introduced in the series.

Counterpunch/Punch: He looks great. I never own the Power of the Prime Trilogy version, so I'm glad to get this version. Cool lighter shade of blue/yellow. He's actually smaller in person. Barricade: I wish they kept the Siege head sculpt to differentiate him from the original datsun car brothers. But besides that, he's cool. He has a nice shading of light purple to his black color.
I'll definitely be getting this set because I've specifically been waiting on getting any form of that Prowl/Smokescreen/Bluestreak mold because I wanted to get it as Barricade. I also missed out on Punch-Counterpunch so I'm really looking forward to this release!

Then in Transformers: Energon, the Barricade name was used for a renamed Onslaught as part of Bruticus Maximus. Then in 2007, we got the most famous Barricade, the police car Decepticon. A Barricade based on the movie one then appeared a year later in a TF Animated activity book of all places. Then with the WFC video game by High Moon Studios, there was a Barricade who was a combination of his G1 and movie incarnations who would later receive a TF Prime toy as a redeco of Prowl in his police car mode. Finally, there was the IDW Barricade who was once again a police car but had some elements of his original G1 self mixed in; that is the incarnation of the character that this and the Siege toy are based off of.
I hesitated ordering this set, as.I already had the PoTP version of Punch/Counterpunch and had read some negetive reviews of Earthrise Bluestreak that left me unsure about the mold. I really liked the Siege versions of Barricade, Prowl, Bluestreak and Smokescreen, and wasn't sure that I needed this, but after getting the Prowl and Ironhide 2-pack I decided to go for it and have it pre-ordered. I'll agree that I miss the purple on the Siege version and that the head on that version was better, but you do realize that even then, Barricade's head was not new, but a repaint of Siege Smokescreen's. Just like Bluestreak's head is a repaint of Prowl's. Good review. Thank you!
On a positive note, we didn't get the worthless combiner hand for Punch/Counterpunch in this set. Giving it to someone that doesn't turn into a limb was pretty pointless but we did get a nicely colored Solus Prime.
I really like the Punch/Counterpunch mold. The leg transformation and parts compression really get me. As a fan of Gundam as well as transformers, I feel the need to repaint him like the Ribbons/Reversible Gundam.
This is a great figure (speaking of Punch) any way you slice it. I personally prefer the first release as the colors are proper to the G1 version of the toy, but you can't go wrong with either version really.
I'd like to think like the decepticons captured counter punch, and because of that he's a valuable agent, they would decide to convert him into a decepticon, which to me I would like it
In regards to Punch/Counterpunch. I have the original version and it has no issues transforming into vehicle mode with the Decepticon insignia flipped up. It really doesn't make any difference what so ever which position that panel is in. Also the front section does actually all tab together and the reason you can't get yours to sit flush and why you have clearance issues is because you don't have the front of the vehicle mode aligned and pegged together properly. You really have to peg all that stuff together first otherwise it screws up the alignment for everything else in vehicle mode. Side note... the yellow around the bottom of the vehicle mode does make it look more like the original toy and you're not really missing anything with the Prime armor not being included with this release. Though it would of been nice if this would of included a second gun and repainted the original gun black cause that is actually meant to be Counterpunch's gun but it's painted in Punch's color and he never included the double barreled gun that Punch was meant to come with.
If I am not mistaken, there is a way to plug the gun in under the hood of the car of punch/counter punch. There should be a slot in the blaster, on the hilt or near that area. If you fiddle around a little bit, you can plug it in.
Thank you for posting this, Prime vs Prime! I have already preordered this particular Earthrise/Galactic Odyssey 2-pack of Punch/Counterpunch and Barricade off of Amazon.com a few days ago! I already bought the Siege version of Barricade this past Summer of 2020!
The original Punch/Counterpunch had his shoulder joints wrongly assemble that was the reason you couldn't get him correctly transform in vehicle mode hopefully they fix that on the new version. For some reason I like the new shade of blue more than the original one and since I don't have the siege Barricade this one would do I can't wait to get them
The purple used here is the exact same, but the issue is that the vibrant purple windows of Siege were not used here on top of the blatantly Smokescreen head sculpt. It is really a shame.
I originally ordered this set but then cancelled it. I have so many figures coming in and this set was really meh to me. I already have the previous Punch and I don't really care about Barricade. This review confirms that decision was good for me.
I already have the POTP P/CP, and I agree. He’s fun but fiddly. I love siege Barricade, but without that fantastic translucent purple, it’s a miss from me.
Barricade looks nice, while I like the Punch/CounterPunch love from Hasbro I feel the repaint ruins his look. The dark blue of the originally real helped CounterPunch look like a Decepticon as their theme is darker colors. The orange being for the Autobots really helped differentiate the modes. With the change of color to light blue it makes CounterPunch look like an Autobot in both modes. If you were to show me a picture of CounterPunch I wouldn't guess it's a Decepticon. The Barricade has amazing coloration, as other stated head being his own would have been nice but not as much of an issue as I'm just happy to get a ER Barricade mode. I have an affinity for Earth modes as the Seige Cybertron modes seemed lacking and noncreative. This has been my TED talk thank you. Have an amazing day!

I feel your complaints about barricade are unjustified, as he is going for a realistic deco. As this is an earth based vehicle mode. When it comes to the head, it’s just like the Siege head, it was a Smokescreen head and then the Barricade redeco used that head. It would look really odd if he had clear purple for his legs.

Punch/Counterpunch had some issue on 1 of the shoulder connections in the original mold. It was put in backwards & I think that fixed the tabbing issue in car mode. I forget which shoulder though. I do want the set since I don't have either 1

I believe it’s still mis assembled. The hinge joints go up instead of down

On the original, there was no yellow stripe along the bottom of the vehicle. Punch was just straight up blue (with red wheels).

Punch/Counterpunch had some issue on 1 of the shoulder connections in the original mold. It was put in backwards & I think that fixed the tabbing issue in car mode. I forget which shoulder though. I do want the set since I don't have either 1
Yeah I heard there is some misassembly. I’ll have to try and figure out a fix
