To be fair spite weighs as much as 2 yammies. Also, yammie got much more experience hooning around on the powerful sportbikes. The reason it seems to be closer than it should is because of the rider difference.
Indian pulls okay but reality is that MT-09 is actually not that fast at all. You only feel fast due to its weak frame/suspension and lighter front end.
@@rusipathan MT09 accelerating is actually insane up to 100mph. The engine is very overpowered for what it is. MT09 can easily make superbikes to run for their money on the drag strip. But yes on the highway it's not that fast.

I prefer the comfort and looks of cruisers (and practicality,if you put the saddlebags on),and while speed isn't what I'm looking for I do also appreciate what sports bikes offer. Since I can barely afford one bike,I have a cruiser, but if I had a lot of money,I'd also buy an old CBR400RR in mint condition and occassionally take it on the track, maybe some dual sport for riding in the local woods too.
I’ve always owned Harley’s. I still have one. I just got a 2021 MT09 today. Even with the wheelie control set to full. I’m not sure how you can launch it without riding the clutch like crazy. I did a light roll on and the front still came up immediately. I’m 280lbs and even me leaning forward was not stopping that front wheel from leaving the ground
Same upright for comfort, I dont want leaned back, weight on my ass like a cruiser. I like to put the weight on the foot pegs sometimes while riding or give my ass a break. Dirt bike posture is best imo.
I spent decades on cruisers and avoiding Sport bikes. Now I’m on a Sport bike and I never want to go back. Having said that, if you’re the other way around, I’m just glad you’re riding 😉
I had always heard about how comfortable cruisers were but personally I don't find that to be the case. Everyone goes on about how the upright feet forward stance is comfortable but for me it just translates every bump right into my spine. The result is a long day on a cruiser is a painful one for me. A sportier riding position keeps my weight on my legs and impacts off my spine. Even most naked bikes are too upright for me.
Indian Scout was my first cruiser "second bike". Was great but ended up feeing small on the highway so I traded up to a Harley Softail Slim. One year later, that went away for my Scrambler Desert Sled. What can I say, I prefer sporty/playful bikes over cruisers. They do look badass in the garage though.
There is no better.. Your comparing Apples and oranges. They have different intended purpose. I wouldn't show up for track day's on a cruiser just like i wouldn't go cross country on a sport bike... Room for both....... P.S. rent a Vmax... Love you guys. Do it!
I think cruiser are better for an all day vehicle while sport bikes are just there to speed around and do races. Im about to buy a cruiser because I dont want to race I just want to enjoy the ride
My advice is to simply sit on both. Go to a dealership and see which one feels better to you. I went to a Honda powersports dealership and sat on a Rebel 300 and a CBR300R and I knew the Rebel was more of my style.
But Yam...you were spinning...and winning! I would love to hear your opinion on how the MT09 compares to the Indian FTR1200. Those are two bikes I am interested in owning, but it doesn't make sense to own both in my mind.
Mt09 wheelie MONSTER. Like for real. Until you ride one, you don't even know. If you live in a city, pass on the 09 unless you love doing 1st gear wheelies red light to red light.
I've ridden both and both do have their merits. One thing I have noticed however, you don't see cruisers wrapped around lamp posts like sports bikes so may live a bit longer on one.
After owning the scout I test rode the BMW RNINE T and I wasn’t impressed with the power. Damn scout made me jaded and now I’m looking at 145+ hp bikes as my second bike
i ride a cruiser, because it suits my lifestyle , comfortable, lots of torque for 2 up and lugging the weeks shop and more aftermarket parts than you can shake a stick at.

The HD Street Bob and Low Rider S, the Vulcan S, Bolt, Sportsters, etc.. There are a lot of "cruisers" that aren't big baggers that you can still very readily do some spirited riding on.
