This video, even more than the pdf, gives me confidence in learning to take pulses. We were just learning, the Covid disrupted school. Now we are back and have to report on 3 pulses a week. I felt overwhelmed and intimidated. Your joyful teaching encourages me t go out and build my knowledge base, starting with fast or slow. I remember in January of 2020 only being able to feel the pulse of one person in class. I tried on five people, but was too nervous! This man had a pulse I called "disco." Now I see it is better described as superficial and forceful. Merci infiniment!

@@vijaybhaskar1968 this is the way Chinese Medicine pulse diagnosis is done, with 3 fingers and each pulse represents the organ and reflects what’s happening internally with it. 🙏 there is no single pulse diagnosis in my knowledge ☺️

Pulse is tricky because it’s all in the touch which is hard on a video without practicing. There are 27 kind of pulses but in clinic we see mostly about 8 to 10 only 🌷

Are all organs superficial? Or, for example, is the heart located at the superficial level in the cun position, and is the small intestine located at the middle level in the cun position?
All organs pulses are considered normal in the middle postions and abnormal at the superficial and deep levels. They are abnormal on their quality even at the middle level (ie: wiry or choppy)
Did you get the PDF? It has the slides and explanation 🥰 the herbalist puts the large & small intestine at the rear position. And the acupuncturist puts them in the front positions 👍

Unfortunately TCM doesn't work that way, we treat the person as a whole, not the disorder. We look at the tongue, take the pulse, look for the root cause and then form a treatment plan. Go see a qualified practitioner in your area to guide you 🌷

Hey Clara, I was wondering what is your take on a client who has tachycardia which is an increase in the pulse rate?? How does the rate conflict with constitutional levels and symptoms of the tachycardia
Great question! That’s why the pulse is very relative...with tachycardia, it comes from a disorder usually, like high blood pressure. That’s often an excess Heat in TCM. Then you can always look at the quality of the pulse to get your full information. 🙏🥰

Qi sitting on top of blood? Where? I’m not sure I understand your question. In acupuncture Qi moves blood…it’s not on top 🙏

What is the definition of full-big pulse? What is a full pulse and a large pulse?
All the same, under the finger it feels full and large (the whole width of the practitioner’s finger).
