AMBATU BUST
I'm also not a big gambler, but I feel that removing the 3 would have made sense in that situation. 13 is both pretty common and pretty bad as cards worth 10 are common in your deck. Standing on 13 is also much worse than standing on 18. If you didn't have the Ace in the Hole I'd say remove the 2, but with it, getting to 22 is only bad if you do so before you've drawn the Ace in the Hole.
The big assumption in this reasoning is of course that cards worth 10 are so common. So if it holds for late game in this game very much depends on that's still true after you've added a bunch of cards to the deck. But as your deck looked at that time I think removing the 3 was the way to go.
But if you're on 13 you can draw a 1-8 without going bust, but if you have 18 you an draw 1-3, or you have to stand. Taking out the high cards gives you more flexibility in future draws to get closer to 21. And with some of the other cards in the game, like the halves, the flexibility means you're more likely to win.
Therefore taking out the 6-8 are the best ones to remove first (the 9 can be upgraded easier to a 10).
Yeah my thought was removing a 6
Quite frankly, whilst in a 10/11s build, 3s are...well, mediocre at best, if you only had 3s, it'd ensure the player a blackjack almost every time.
at 10:45 since in a deck there are more face cards, your first two cards are more likely to be a 10 + something. You should avoid a 16 since you are very likely to bust if you hit, but lose if you stand. Same with a 15, 14 and so on.. so the best order to remove, applying normal blackjack logic is 6,5,4,3,2. Why start from 6 and lower but not 7? because in normal blackajck, dealer stand on 17, meaning you have a chance to tie. That may vary here depending where enemies stand
Profesional gambler advice right here
Round Up cards are very powerful, since they can vary between two values like an ace. for example, the Pi of [suit]s can be either a 3 or a 4, depending on if it would make you bust or not. having several rounding cards can let you flex within quite a range of blackjack, without having to hit more.
"If I win we go walkies" - Tyler 2024
Great video. Hopefully it'll be the rare confluence where promo vid turns into a series.
Getting rid of your eight was probably the best choice as it is the most likely card to put you in a bad spot.
Super happy to see some full release content of this game, been playing the demo like crazy and since it's still a full day from release this is so exciting.
I'm literally shaking I can't wait to gamble today
The sister game to Balatro, the way I understand it. Funny thing is, this is great, and I don't even like Blackjack normally.
Everyone analyzing the best card in terms of just win vs lose like normal black jack. Stakes are different in this game since losses are based on the delta.
To minimize your chance of busting in random situations you want to minimize the variance in your deck. While keeping a mean that is a factor of a good hand. Ideal scenario would be to have low variance & low mean (i.e. removing all high cards). But since you start with so many high cards there's some validity to going for low variance & high mean (i.e. removing all low cards - except Ace)
This game seems very much about risk mitigation more than normal blackjack. Excited to try it out tomorrow, thanks!
So the reason why the receptionist is so scary and has lots of 0s. Is because every single one of those cards she played she's aiming for a blackjack. The instant she hits a blackjack all those cards buff her next attack whether it's shields, health, damage, it's a terrifying combo if played right xD
Saw the title, immediately went to buy it... got upset... had to wait until 30 seconds of the video until I realized HERE meant your computer, and not mine :P. Oh well. Another day!

Haha the comeback against Floorperson was sooo good!
The tarot cards predicting your future was so funny. (19:10)

Carduus acanthoides is the scientific name for the Spiny Plumeless Thistle. It has "card" in the name, that is all.
Ahhhhh I’m so excited for this! I loved the original demo of it!
I love rougelikes.
I love blackjack.
Guess this is my new favorite game.
my guess is a 6 is the best card to remove as 16 is the worst starting hand imo.
the thumbnail didnt load before the title so when i saw the loyalty card in the thumbnail i actively pogged
Nice vid, keep em coming!
Thanks for the never ending Roguelikes!❤
Damn, the flash card at 18:55 was actually kinda sick, but I don’t think you read the whole thing.
It’s not like the AI generated card where it just chooses a value and is that value no matter what. The flashcard chooses a number between 1-10 but it only becomes that value if you exploit it. Otherwise, it remains a 0.
I think your brain was referring back to the AI generated card, saw “random number” and you went, “Nah. I like control over what I’m playing thank you.” I feel the same way. I don’t want a card randomly deciding to kill me, but a card randomly deciding what number it can become should I click on it is kinda nice.
That crypto gamble was CHOICE
Uniswap figuring out Tyler's password (2020, colourized)
having many 10s means higher chances to get 18. removing the 5-7 would probably be better
Agreed if you are thinking of every scenario then have a high enough number to be happy to stand or a low enough card to hit again safely is the goal. So the middle most values are what you want to remove first along with getting more 11s and 10s
RT is gonna LOOOVEEE this game I can tell
10:12 Pirate olexa 🦜
23:38 really no JJBA reference?🥲
The best card to remove, typically, is a 5. However that assumes normal play where the dealer hits 16 or below. It considerably reduces the risk of being at 15 which is the highest score the dealer will always be above (or bust). There is an argument towards removing the 4 as it's almost as good and many opponents will stand below 16, but the counterargument is that those opponents are likely worse so you might not need the help. In any case you removed the 9 which is the most valuable card behind the aces and the 10s - you made the game substantially harder against every opponent. Worst to best in order starting from the worst, 5, 4, 3, 6, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, A.
34:20 BLACK MAGICIAN, BLACK MAGIC!
On the topic of the best card to remove.
First, what to keep. Ace. Face Cards. There are 4 Aces, and there are 4 K, 4 Q, 4 J and 4 10. That's 20 Cards.
Now you want to be as close to 21 as you can be. So the obvious answer is "Remove 2 through 9", but that's a lot of card. You're going to have 20/21 every time, but can you get ride of 32 Cards? Probably not.
So, in the meantime, you kill the centers. Because the Centers are the ones that will put you right under 17, forcing you to hit, maybe forcing you to Bust.
So 5 and 6 are your first Targets. And you want to take them BOTH out. Because as you see, 5+6=11 (and does each group, 4+7, 3+8 and 9+2)... and you want the chance to hit 11 on 2 Cards, to pair with one of those 20 Face Cards.
So the REAL Strategy is not removing ONE Card, but TWO... and those TWO need to equal 11, without being the A or Face Cards. With a Face Card, 9, 8 and 7 all get you to 17... so it's only the 6/5 that keeps you short. So you start with those so you have less 15/16 Starts.

HOL UP TAROT IS COOKING
One of best Demos I ever played.
Pls more of this thank you
From 3:45, you had a guaranteed Blackjack. What you had in your deck was 2+1+3+5+10=21.
dang i been waiting for this for so long
And that's why you don't flush all the advantage into loyalty card
Also wheel of fortune actually works (unlike balatro being a nope card)
Pi of hearts or pi of anything is good since it's only round's up when you're not going to bust same with Half's
Huh, I played one of the demos and I was really excited. But, then I just wasn’t that into it. Might be worth another look.
Aww, I miss the old art. It had this great early 2000s feel.
19:08 I call it the Ink Blot card, cause that's what a Rorschach test is. Seeing what you see in a random puddle of ink.
In a Rorschach test what you see is a projection of yourself … hence the function of the card being to make the opponent do what you do
23:00 let me help you with the pronunciation. It's "rawr shut (but without the t) ch (like the sound you make when you have some mucus in your throat. Or how Stewie from family guy pronounces the wh in whip). And if you want it to not sound so english just use a rolling r instead of the soft English r.
let's go gambling!!!!!!!
aw dang it
Olexa the breadwinner
~18:43 = Roar-shack
Eliminate 7 thru deuce for sure. Best possible scenarios from that.
We bustin this one! 12:18
Removing the 8 wasn’t the best move because 18 is a pretty good starting draw
I would have removed a two because it's a card that makes you want to hit again when you get it
I would have also removed the 8, and for the same reasons.
I'd remive the 9 is you didn't have ace in the hole.
This is far from a solved game, but general blackjack strategy is not gonna apply here due to the special cards.
Most of the comments are trying to build around 2 card strategies, but from what I've seen in the beta, you actually want to remove your higher cards first. Lower cards mean more draws (which means more chance for your gimmick cards to trigger) and less chance to bust (which makes you generally take a LOT more damage). Lower cards are gonna let you build deck gimmicks better and be better defensively.
Even if you COULD build a deck of just 10's and A's, that's not gonna be as good of a deck as it sounds. Despite having a high incidence of 20's and 21's, you have an equal chance of getting stuck at 12, which is gonna make you take an average of 5-6 damage when it comes up.
Super true
Id go by card counting rules and take a lower card out like a 2 or 3
i felt pain when you didn't play the wheel of fortune near end of floorperson. they have no downside of filling your deck with
imo the dream build i can see SOMEONE getting (if there becomes an endless mode) is a 21 and all wheel of fortune
It was your own deck that killed you a sting of bad forced stands and single 5s when you need pairs of 5s.
4:07 you had it either way you had soft 16 so a 10 would still make it 16 then you get the 5 after
Rorschach : It’s pronounced “Roar-Shack”
Let's gooooooooooooo
19:09 You pronounce it as Roar-Shack.
Is this going to be a series?
nice
27:33 Let's be real there are no JIRA fans.
Remove your "bust cards" first. (6, 5, 4, 3,)
Roar-shack
WOOHOO
Roar-a-Shack
Is the A and 10 not a backjack a mistake? Or am i missing a game mechanic ?
My cap was raised to 22 that round
Apparently 5 has the worst chances of getting to 21 - obligatory "Olexa you're a friggin' idiot" 😉 just kidding!
My guess was 6 but same reason.
Not sure how only starting with 14 cards effects the math but definitely has to be a 5 or 6.
I've watched a few of these so far, and while the concept looks like fun, some of the fights are just gruelling. If a single one is taking 10 minutes, and 40 rounds, it's just to long.
Depends on the deck you make.
You are acting like your aces have a defined value of 11 as soon as they hit your hand.
Tamarak Trail??
why did they change the amazing music :
im pretty sure the original music was from olexa and the game originally had no music at all
but i could just be thinking of 14 variants
why did they change HJT
Wow, advertising gambling huh?
Didn't think you'd drop so low 🤧
This has to be a joke

olexa watched nl before this one /pos
I’ve been playing this game for two years, I didn’t watch a different person play it before playing.
@@OlexaYT oh! i didn’t mean it in that way. just some of the things you said reminded me of the way nl speaks. but it may just have been cause you had some good zingers in this one
Just waiting for a aliens rock and Olexa collab. (Tyler x Tyler)
Balatro is the best one sorry tyler
I said what I said
The best card to remove would have probably been the Ace in the hole. Otherwise theres a solid case for 9.
23:15 it’s pronounced Roar-shock. But if you wanna keep pronouncing it wrong, that’s fine too
Know what? I’m gonna one-up your „um actually“-ing. Hermann Rorschach was a Swiss psychoanalyst and because the word originated from the name of a person it would be custom to pronounce it like it is pronounced in the native language of said person. The IPA for. Rorschach is „ʁoːɐ̯ʃax“, where the first „R“ is hard, the „O“ is (like you said) pronounced like the English „OA“, the second „R“ is silent, „SCH“ is pronounced „SH“, and „CH“ is a sound that doesn’t really exist in English but a „K“ is probably closest. You can’t out-Reddit me!
@@Shooshpa-z2e I’m honored to be schooled in in pronunciation. I only know the “American” way of saying it as he is a popular figure to talk about in Psychology. It’s funny how much of psych history stems from the pseudoscience of people like Rorschach and Freud
The best card to remove would be the 6 since the dealer has to stand on 17. Meaning, if you had a 16 and they have a 17, you HAVE to hit on 16 which can be spicy
standing on 16 isn't that big of a deal tho since if the dealer has a 17 you only take 1 damage
Do you really not know an ace is one or eleven🤔
Olenky gets spontaneous amnesia when stressed 😂
I actively used the As as ones and 11s in this video
Uhh balatro tho?
I said what I said
man why you stay on soft 16s?
Quick calculations of probability in my deck of busting. That’s all. If I have a 50% chance to not bust, I send it
@@OlexaYT but it's a soft 16 so even if you go over the ace will save you
it's a 0% chance of busting
Why games like these rarely hit mobile, you guys lose so much value of them (-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩___-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩)
Because the reality is, it’s a LOT of work. Mobile code is worse, screens are much smaller so the UI oftentimes doesn’t fit, and the amount of work and money to do it isn’t profitable.
can see enemy deck is kinda very easy rules, why dev make that rules. 👎
Nice content, but the game has to go long way to be fun.
It’s… really fun lol. Not sure what you’re talking about
Maybe you just don’t like blackjack.
