Good video. My personal view is, never turn a hobby into work/a business. The hobby will suffer. Before my IT career (retired ten years now) I really enjoyed computer gaming. An instructor at my data processing Vo-Tech class said she never gamed, couldn't getting on a computer at home after spending all day working with them. I found she was right. Once I started working as a programmer, the last thing I wanted was to get on a PC at home. I got back into modeling, as well as other hobbies. I developed the rule "never take work home, never take home to work".
I doubt I could be a YT content creator, just too much like work. But I really appreciate y'all that do it. It's helped me expand and improve my model building.

Nice response. I agree with you. When you have a lot of modeling stuff to do it can seem like work, but not in a bad way. Thanks for sharing.

That's a great answer to Paul's question. I'm still thinking of how I'm going to answer this question. You sir, are a super busy guy and I really don't understand how the heck you fit it all into a 24 hour day! Have a great week Jason.

Great response, Jason. I wish that I had a regular 8 hour a day job, but alas, I do not. I have to cram my model building in what little weekend time I have so it will never end up being a job. I wish that I could make more than one or two videos a week, but it's another thing that I do for fun.

Great video Jason, if a hobby starts feeling like a job then you start to resent it, and it becomes easy to push it off. A hobby should relieve your cares from the world.

Great response to a very interesting question! Because I have perfectionist tendencies, when some builds are not developing according to my plan I can lose momentum for that build. Pushing through to complete the build feels like a work effort to me. I can not imagine having a YT channel & club duties in addition to 'simply' building a model.

15yrs ago, my local rc racetrack closed. My wife and I bought it and reopened so i could keep the racing alive. Today- i could care less if i touch an rc controller at all! Hince- i made my hobby a business. Biggest mistake to make. Keep it FUN!!! and NOT work!

I subscribed quite awhile ago, and youtube's algorithm puts you front and center when I sit down at my computer. I've missed very few episodes.
Time management is always an issue, something I was made aware of during my college years. I was fortunate joining a fraternity that emphasized that skill in its programs. When you talked about the Secretary position you have with your club, I can sympathize with you on the workload something like that adds to daily life. Twenty years after graduating, I was nominated and served 10 years on my fraternity's alumni Board of Directors. It's not like attending a meeting and that's all there is to it, there's plenty of work to do before that happens.

Great response to Paul's question, Jason. Being retired the model building and YT channel is my job... 🤣 It is a fun job because I live all aspects of the building, filming, editing, graphics design, but not the uploading... 🤣 Yap, I said I was not going to do as many GB's and I have joined 4 more so I will do the best I can with it all. It is not just one thing that make it work some days it is all of it.. Lol
The best is when the build is done and that makes it all awesome and videos get some likes and that is the best feeling like you said. Folks like to watch and that does feed the drive to go on and just get it all done and be in that happy place of the hobby...
    LLAP 🖖

The only time model building feels like work to me is when my brother buys a kit and wants me to build it. The reason being is because he puts no effort or time. When I build for myself it's my get away from the world

Great talk. You got a lot of irons in the fire! Lots of fans looking foward to your work. I'm sure it must feel like a job. Fortunately for me when I dont get around to modeling the only one I'm letting down is me. I would hope that once in awhile you take care of yourself. Thanks for sharing.

I have a model related website and I write model books so - in that sense the hobby is work. But I do enjoy building models for myself (since I was 8 years old and I'm 62 now). I think the thing is not to get stressed. Once you get stressed it's time to take something off the plate and step back. It sounds like you have a good balance. You know what you want to do and what you DON'T want to do. Always keeping the building of models in view. 🙂

Great response Jason. I agree it can at times. I find myself walking away from it for a few days. Then I get back to enjoying it. I had a question for you. I was wondering if you would be able to share with us what type of stands or mechanisms that you have come up with to hold let say tires that you are going to spray or seats. When I paint those particular parts I find myself not being able to spray certain parts because I am holding them. Hope you are able to share some ideas . Thank you and greatly appreciate the videos.

Walking away is always a good idea, to gain a fresh perspective, or to reset your mind. I also do that from time to time. As far as painting seats I can definitely show my method. Tires in the other hand, I still struggle. I really haven’t found a really good method.

Good video man.. All I can really say is do whatever makes you happy. NEVER do this stuff because you feel you HAVE to. Otherwise you will burn yourself out and it will feel like a dreadful, monotonous thing. And also,... this is where that old saying "Don't bite off more than you can chew" could be applied. There is nothing wrong with getting involved, but don't spread yourself too thin doing it either..!! Because as you said,.. that would make it feel like "work" or something you start hating to do.
I understand what you are saying about keeping the fans happy and yes, a lot of us do look forward to watching the videos and at times look forward to seeing what you may post next or are curious about the next Question or seeing how a particular build is coming along etc. But you need to always go at YOUR pace/schedule, not what others may want or are used too. Because honestly,.. if you started posting half as much and put a video up every other week, the true fans will still be there and every other week they would be checking in ya know. You just have to really do whatever YOU feel comfortable doing. People will still be there with you and for you. I guess that could fall in the category of "quality not quantity."
I am so sorry to blab on.. lol Just giving my opinion and basically letting you know that We (your fans/followers) will still be there whatever you decide. Good Luck either way. You do run a great channel here and you are also involved in a lot of other things. Just make sure it doesn't get overwhelming or everything you created suffers. :)

I’m a casual builder. I don’t have a channel. I’m a retired auto parts manufacturer, aluminum injection molded parts. I rarely finish a kit. I like to experiment with such things as opening doors and trunks. How the hell is the driver supposed to get in the car? If it becomes “work “ I put them back in the box and promise I’ll get back to it later. Or build an airplane 🤭. The few that I have finished I don’t display. I also put them in a box. Today I’m waiting for a 3D printed late delivery on some radiators . The printer probably put it in a little box that’s easily lost.
But, it’s not really “work “.
Pulling a hot mold and taking it apart because the ejector pins were too short or long and left too much of a high or low mark.
    That’s “work “. 😁
