Seriously - has there a ever been an incident where a band closed off their body of work better than this? ( Well, disregarding The Endless River, which was just a nice belated add-on, not an actual album IMO)
This song has got to have one of the best Slide solos I've EVER heard!!! Since 1994 when this came out,I shed a tear evertime I hear that "SAD" guitar, Beautiful!
I feel comfortbly numb when I listen to the guitar solo just like a warm bath in cold winter. A deep consolation without a word....The magical moment contains life itself, a graceful loneliness, and inner beauty. God bless the band.
One very powerful but ultimately a very sad piece of music. it says so much about the hidden dreams we all have that are perhaps put aside throughout our lives. it captures the evenesance of life wonderfully (and by that I mean the conciousness of time passing, and things fading away in life).
I have had the honor of seeing pink floyd pre breakup and post break up,(Without Waters) and the thing I love about this group is what you hear on the album is what you hear in concert. The band is so tight musically that they actually sound better live than in the studio. I'll still pray for a Gilmour,Waters,Mason tour for 09. We can all have High hopes! RIP Rick! Thank you for your contributions to the greatest band in music history! Pink Floyd! There will never be another like them.
I was on a trip with my youth group to Nashville Tennessee this summer to help a family whos home was destroyed by the flood of May 1st 2010. My pastor pics a song to wake the kids up every year. This year it was this song.
man this song takes me back! theres only one band that takes me where the horizons touch the skies...i love floyd always have and always will! thank you
I was privileged to be at this concert and there were people around me crying with the emotion of the whole thing. It was surreal, almost spiritual. I've seen all the great bands live but Pink Floyd are on another level.
Brings tears into my eyes , I love Pink Floyd ... I will never compare them with others .. never , I like some other bands , I like other music types , but this is not what I like this is what represents me , I listen this with my soul . Forever love Pink Floyd .
Saw Australian Pink Floyd recently, and this was one of the most emotional songs they played. Fascinating. Do not miss that band if they around your city.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It feels magical yet makes me kind of sad. Kind of reminds me of my childhood and the past, kind of makes you think. anyone agrees?
This is song speaks to me so profoundly- the sound, message, and fabric of the musicianship of david gilmour and his brothers in music simply overwhelms me.. The greatest experience of my life was hearing for the first time gimour's passion shine in coming back to life. Something about this man is deeper than just the notes he plays
i remember when i heard this song for the 1st time, it was on the radio (aww great & right mainstream music times..), i was a teen, & from the 1st sounds i experienced some kind of v strong emotional & aesthetical shock of music, even started crying- couldn't believe how good it was, just too beautiful, too perfect... never had experienced such kind of feelings before & after with any other song, ever. later i was looking for that haunting song sooo long time (didn't knew Pink Floyd yet then)..... v weird, some kind of musical mystery till this day to me :) & 1 of the most perfect songs ever written i believe. (sorry for my english :) )
iv listened to pinkf floyds since i was in my moms belly man, when i was in kinder garden i would sing this song and the teachers were like wtf, and i was the only old kid. and when i first started to play guitar i was in kider. my first song was breath and the older i got i play the entire albums from pink floyd. on guitar and keys. PIK FLOYD is the greatest band in the world, of all time, god doesnt even remember making these angels, pinkfloyd shall never die
I'd say it's his #3 all-time solo, right behind Comfortably Numb and Time. It never fails to bring a tear to my eyes when I listen to it, it's that powerful. The whole song makes me very emotional, but that solo just takes it to the next level. We're very blessed as fans to have this man and his music in our lives.
Iv just had a deep spiritual experience during this song.... its like i reexperienced my childhood feelings again and everything felt innocent and easy........ pink floyd touches my soul so much i so love this band
one of the best songs of all time I just adore the fact that they, rather than just sample the damn thing, actually have a guy ringing the bell all the way through the song :D
I didn't think anything could be more perfect that the original but Christ almighty, this just was. I just can't put my feelings for this song into words.
"Encumbered forever by desire and ambition" It's just so much meaningful that you can listen to it for years and still finding new aspects everyday...the whole picture reminds of what we did to ourselves, when did exactly "the ringing of the division bell had begun"? when did we start to fight because of our differences?
What I am thinking, while I am listening this, can not be told through words, I am full of good emotions. This is great. And that is impression while watching this on youtube on computer while sitting on chair.... I would probably be out of my skin, if I were listening this (but this concert) in live, and to be part of something like this is.
I saw them at Earl's Court, London in '94. In fact this looks like it might have been that very performance. Watching Pink Floyd wasn't so much going to a concert as experiencing a religious conversion. They were truly awe inspiring to behold.
I remember about 10 or 11 years ago my Dad told me to watch a video he had recorded. It was this concert that was shown on BBC. I was about 12 at the time and listening to shit music like most people that age and was of the opinion that my Dad's music was crap. I remember watching that video and feeling like I wanted to cry, this stuff was that good. It just blew me away and felt me feeling numb. Even now, 15 years on from when this was first made, it still can tear through you. Fantastic.
Saw them live at Giants Stadium...NJ...june 1994...last day of the american tour...last time they were here...last time they ever toured i think...amazing!!!!
I couldn't agree more. There is something about that solo that is unexplainable. It's so beautiful, so emotional, almost too much too take in. As if, for the first time, all your senses are awake, your mind is freed, and for a brief moment everything makes sense. The whole song is perfect: the lyrics, the video, the stage... no one has ever come close to this, and I'm afraid no one ever will.
Pink Floyd is a genius group, all in this song is soberty and mankind. i'm a metal fan, but i think this song is a masterpiece, really. David gilmour is more than a guitarist,he is a magician... his end solo is so spatial, so beautiful and awesome.
I have never heared something better..
This is a very powerful pice of music
best pink Floyd song of all time. amazing live, beautiful fantastic!
Best song ever made
DoomExter _ I agree with your opinion and i can add Shine on you crazy diamond and Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
The last great song in human history.
Verissimo! :-)
Seriously - has there a ever been an incident where a band closed off their body of work better than this?
( Well, disregarding The Endless River, which was just a nice belated add-on, not an actual album IMO)
This the best song i have ever heard. A true masterpiece.
This song has got to have one of the best Slide solos I've EVER heard!!! Since 1994 when this came out,I shed a tear evertime I hear that "SAD" guitar, Beautiful!
From 5:20 to the end = paradise.
I feel comfortbly numb when I listen to the guitar solo just like a warm bath in cold winter. A deep consolation without a word....The magical moment contains life itself, a graceful loneliness, and inner beauty. God bless the band.
One of Gilmore's finest pieces of work u gotta love the Floyd R.I.P Sid
One of the finest Pink Floyd songs ever. From the lyrics to the music, everything is damn good.
Legendary Pink Floyd pure emotion
You know it is really cool to see someone else of the younger generation liking Pink Floyd.
Rock On!
THIS IS ART. THE WORD ARTIST SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR THOSE WHO MAKE ART.
This is magic. This song is so beautiful and has the ability to conjur up so many memories.
One very powerful but ultimately a very sad piece of music. it says so much about the hidden dreams we all have that are perhaps put aside throughout our lives. it captures the evenesance of life wonderfully (and by that I mean the conciousness of time passing, and things fading away in life).
Truely an amasing band. They are among the best that ever existed.
You can feel it pulling at your soul, it is TRUTH and it is good.
RIP Rick! This song is one of the most beautiful piece of art ever created, I love it!
I was privileged to be at this concert and there were people around me crying with the emotion of the whole thing. It was surreal, almost spiritual. I've seen all the great bands live but Pink Floyd are on another level.
One of my favorite pink floyd songs. Beautiful lyrics and awesome guitar solo.
I saw Floyd live in Germany in 94 in their world tour. Still puts shivers down my spine when I hear this. Long life to Floyd. Brilliant track.
Brings tears into my eyes , I love Pink Floyd ... I will never compare them with others .. never , I like some other bands , I like other music types , but this is not what I like this is what represents me , I listen this with my soul . Forever love Pink Floyd .
Perfect, lyrically, instrumentally absolutely immense. I listen to this everyday.
Saw Australian Pink Floyd recently, and this was one of the most emotional songs they played. Fascinating. Do not miss that band if they around your city.
Why does this song make my heart ache so much? And I keep on hearing it over an over...
This song is one I will love forever. I am only 14 and I want this song to be played at my funeral.
This song is absolutely brilliant.undoubtedly one of the best of all the times
the first time i heard this song i got chills, Ive heard it 100s of times and still get chills, i love this song
A simple prayer: ( May PINK FLOYD Reign forever!) Amen.
This song is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It feels magical yet makes me kind of sad. Kind of reminds me of my childhood and the past, kind of makes you think. anyone agrees?
Shivers are sent down my spine every time I listen to this. Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time.
This is song speaks to me so profoundly- the sound, message, and fabric of the musicianship of david gilmour and his brothers in music simply overwhelms me.. How much I love this song...I could not describe it. The last essence of the great band forever. I just admire the grand effort.
Ti entra nell'anima e non ti lascia più... semplicemente magia...semplicemente Pink Floyd!!!
I bet the number of times I would have been heard Pink Floyd , till I die would pass by the number of starts in this whole universe .
"Sometimes there is so much beauty in the world, I feel my heart cant take it" So beauty song
iv listened to pinkf floyds since i was in my moms belly man, when i was in kinder garden i would sing this song and the teachers were like wtf, and i was the only old kid. and when i first started to play guitar i was in kider. my first song was breath and the older i got i play the entire albums from pink floyd. on guitar and keys. Epic song. Super deep and emotional. Best solo ever. Pink Floyd... then, now and forever the best band of all time.
pink floyd is more than music. it gets to your soul.
This is one of the best performances I've heard from Gilmore. The whole band was feeling it that night.
einfach nur geil. schade das es die band nicht mehr gibt. Super geile Band.
I'd say it's his #3 all-time solo, right behind Comfortably Numb and Time. It never fails to bring a tear to my eyes when I listen to it, it's that powerful. The whole song makes me very emotional, but that solo just takes it to the next level.
We're very blessed as fans to have this man and his music in our lives.
steps taken foward...

my god my god my god...one of the best songs performed by pink flyd!
Overwhelmingly powerful music is what this is. Beautiful and sad, just like life.
And that solo.....wow. Impossible to put into words, eh?
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded...
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever...

The last melody part of the keyboard is heavenly and shy yet emotionl just like Richard himself. We miss you already.
the first time I heard this song was live during the Division Bell Concert. LOVE this song. It my college years put to music.
one of the best songs of all time
I just adore the fact that they, rather than just sample the damn thing, actually have a guy ringing the bell all the way through the song :D

Amazing, perfect, incredible, fantastic.... I have this DVD and I love that song.

This really proves how talented pink floyd is, imo best band, with led zeppelin, and best live band ever...forever and ever..
What I am thinking, while I am listening this, can not be told through words, I am full of good emotions. This is great.

Beautifull !!! Love the sound of the bell, in the music !!!

Great song, great band! This band lives forever.
Qué pedazo de solo, una obra maestra que emociona todo mi ser......sólo Pink Floyd puede hacerlo, sólo la guitarra de David lo puede hacer.....
So much chills in my back while listening to that.. :)
