I think this version of High Hopes is the best I've heard so far, the way he changes the song just a little bit makes the whole solo much more valuable!
That acoustic at the emd is something out of this world so beautiful. PF always makes me feel emotions that nakes me cry... its more than music, just a deeper level of spirituality
The most magical band I've ever known, I've listened to it since I was young at the age of 13 and I'm 52 years old, still as many emotions penetrate me
For me 14 and now 71. This version is the best. At my "ceremony " after my cremation, as part of the celebration of my life, I am going to have played on several large screen TVs, three David Gilmour songs from this concert in this order: The Blue, Comfortably Numb and High Hopes. While I have too many PF favorites, these three are my favorites in video format. Live in Gdansk is simply phenomenal! I have been blessed to have seen them many times over my lifetime. What incredible talents they ALL have!!! Bless all....
Every chord Gilmour plays, and every note he sings is just freaking amazing. He does everything perfectly. No other musician can tap into my emotions like David Gilmour’s guitar and his voice. He always has my emotions all over the place when I listen to him, from way back in Pink Floyd early days, all the way to Gilmour’s solo career. Theeeee best!
Wait, you participated in the concert? That's absolutely an amazing story to forever tell. Id love to know what instrument you were involved with at the time?
When an artist makes a person who is listening to him crying, well... I think that this is the only way in which a soul can be touched from its bottom. Thank you Mr. Gilmour, my soul and my heart will always belong to you and to your music.
What David Gilmour does with space in this song is what makes him so amazing. I just can't describe it. I'll take this over a guy who can shred any day. So tasteful.
Amazing. What a musician Dave Gilmour is. Richard Wright giving it the legs it needs too without overshadowing the guitar playing and Orchestra. What Richard Wright was the best at - Giving the song some vigour without interrupting. Never stole the limelight but was more pivotal in these songs than anyone could imagine. RIP RW.
I just have to comment once more! This gets more and moeamazing everytime I watch this. I always take beautiful music very emotionally, but this is just stuninng. The ending is a masterpiece in every note he plays. I can't help but smile in delight when he play his final notes :D :)
the amazing fact is that David originally composed and played the song in 1994(Division Bell) when he was 48. Now after 15 years (he is 62)is playing this song live even better and more emotional. Only the very recent versions he's been performing since 2005, have that acoustic solo. In previous performances he only did the Slider solo. He has always been in "Top 50 Guitarist of All Time" list. my most favourite guitarist after SLASH
I don't think David ever played it like that again, with that final piece of guitar. In my opinion this version is the best of all. Thank you Pink Floyd, thank you Mr Gilmour..., may God bless you forever
This song is a fucking masterpiece. It seriously gives me goosebumps. The most amazing thing is how his music is still living on the way it is today. I'm in love with this song. Amazing.
Lyrics Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young In a world of magnets and miracles Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary The ringing of the division bell had begun Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway Do they still meet there by the Cut There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps Running before time took our dreams away Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground To a life consumed by slow decay The grass was greener The light was brighter With friends surrounded The nights of wonder Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again Dragged by the force of some inner tide At a higher altitude with flag unfurled We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world Encumbered forever by desire and ambition There's a hunger still unsatisfied Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon Though down this road we've been so many times The grass was greener The light was brighter The taste was sweeter The nights of wonder With friends surrounded The dawn mist glowing The water flowing The endless river Forever and ever
There is music and then there is Pink Cloyd... there are great guitarists, and then there is David Gilnour! Wow... that outro has me. Crying like a baby og its absolute beauty
Have you ever been in Gdansk? Fans world wide are invited to organize Summer camps in Poland and sing along such EPIC tracks... yeah, what a wonderful world this could be if only music could rule the world...we are working in progress...you keep on spreading good vibes guys, that's what fans are for ❤🎉❤
close your eyes..... and just listen to the music. That guitar plays just the right notes in the right moment, with an amazing feeling. Wonderful David Gilmour.
Pink Floyd (David Gilmour especially) is like wine, they only get better with age! every live rendition being better than the last with more and more emotion!
I can listen again and again and I will never get tired I hope you will stay with us for a long time to come you have made me dream, cry, and laugh what emotions you will remain forever engraved in my heart
what an incredible display of guitar marksmanship by David G. Also Rick's keyboard,Roger's bass and as importantly Nick's drums. A PLEASURE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When David shuffles off this mortal coil (and I hope that's a long time away), he will be remembered as one of the greatest guitarists in the world during the 20th and 21st centuries. Unbelievable performance! Two thumbs up!
I have two things to add... Rush does not have the same emotional pull with me that Pink Floyd does. I actually tear up at the end of this song by the powerful beauty of it all. johnex3303, I know I'm 3 months late, but I'm 21 years old and am such a fan of this song. Incredible. I will not be lumped into that category!
Have not been a PF fan..never really was. I just heard this song for the 1st time ever the other night when I watched the Gdansk concert TV show. I LOVE THIS SONG!! This vid is on my faves at home and at work and I bought the song on iTunes. Cannot get enough of it. This guy is too much. (the band ain't too shabby either)
A great emotion!! in the last part I close my eyes and I cry. an artist that creates this art he is in the history. This song will cross the time and when the children of our children will listen to him, they will still cry. When I listen to these notes I don't want anything anymore. I live a dream !
I'm in the UK. I'm a vocalist and used a backing track of this song in about 2010 but put on alternative vocals. Was done for a theatre production. It should be on my channel but I shall try post here in the comments.
Une des plus belles musique de pink floyd, merci David pour ce solo, chanson pour ma belle, nostalgie d'une nuit sous les étoiles, un soir d'été, un baiser sur la bouche, pour toujours et à jamais
I get the same goose bumps every time i hear High Hopes. I feel just as Gragon 147, it pisses me of at an extend i just don't can put in words. But let's hope there is a great gig in the sky!
Mr.David Gilmour, you are simply the best!I love this song so much that I could play it for ever and ever ...and every time it make me weep Elisabetta Italy NE
there is nothing more you can add to this particular performance of this song. IT IS AWESOME. I planned a trip to Europe in the near future to see them play but I have my doubts whether David can do it again.
Im not going to lie, the ending of this song is so meaningful and beautiful I almost cried. This is truly amazing and I really hope before either him or myself dies I get to see him live, I might be a drummer but this guy is my hero, his music is soulful, has so much love and character to it, It really does make you think, and I feel changed just by listening to it, David Gilmour, you are an amazing musician and you Influence and inspire me to become a better musician. Im sure lots will agree :)
when it comes down to it, Gilmour, 65 still can sing, still can play, is a humble amazing performer/musician, and like a fine wine is pure taste and style, waters is an amazing conceptualizer, who didnt give into the music industry and followed his artistic vision, no matter what. we can learn and admire both of them for doing what both are good at. and personally, I am thankful and inspired by both. High hopes is the full stop at the end of the pink floyd story.
Magical song and concert exceptional. The legend of a real talent in Dave Gilmour will live on forever. Orchestration is beautiful as well.Respect to them!!
Truly spectacular...This performance once again verifies that Floyd and Springsteen are the twin peaks of live rock. This is an absolute gem of cosmic spirituality. Richard Wright RIP and thank you David G. for this final document.
well......, wine and dave .., both get, more and more, precious with time, the more older ,the more fond we are ,some things have no age limit ,Dave ,u rocked in pompei ,and ,u sound even better in gdansk, keep on rocking us
As i have already said on many posts, this is music!a genius guitar player who will never be surpassed, what beautiful lyrics, what a masterpiece, words cannot describe the feeling i get when i watch or listen to the floyd at there best.stunning.
Wow. And that slide during the second half. This is one of prog's best, along with close to the edge and the live version of ashes are burning, tarkus, and a few other brilliant odds and ends.
I think this version of High Hopes is the best I've heard so far, the way he changes the song just a little bit makes the whole solo much more valuable!
Agree
🔥
Yes. The acoustic at the end is beyond anything
That acoustic at the emd is something out of this world so beautiful. PF always makes me feel emotions that nakes me cry... its more than music, just a deeper level of spirituality
Yes
The most magical band I've ever known, I've listened to it since I was young at the age of 13 and I'm 52 years old, still as many emotions penetrate me
This is so beautiful. Start listening to Pink Floyd at 12 and now I’m 60 and they still give me chills every single time.
For me 15 and now 64
For me 14 and now 71. This version is the best. My favorite song that I have ever heard David Gilmour play ❤ i cry evertime I listen ❤ this is true perfection.
He's a gift from god.
This is the best guitar solo of all time in the entire universe 🙏🏼🌌
I would say Hotel California Eagles
Still say Comfortably Numb is his best, but this is a close second.
The slides he does in this solo is really good. Especially that last one at the end
The energy with this version and the accompanying orchestra makes this better than the studio version. It takes the composition to the heavens above.
Every version they do of this song pushes it’s value into eternity. I suspect as long as people listen to music people will love this song.
Every chord Gilmour plays, and every note he sings is just freaking amazing. He does everything perfectly. No other musician can tap into my emotions like David Gilmour’s guitar and his voice. Greatest guitarist of all time easily...... makes me cry like a baby often and therapy for my soul everytime... thats the sign of a musician to me!!!
Couldn't agree more 👏
I couldn't agree more. Goose bumps every time.
Well said
My soul came out of my body listening to that solo
This version is the best. The outro feels like the path to your deepest need.
OMG I was on this concert... I can remember I cried like a baby twice: on 'High hopes' and 'Comfortably numb'.... David, it was a masterpiece.
Saw a Pink Floyd cover band with my friends Brit Floyd to be exact and cried as soon as they started the slide guitar solo imo his best solo
Totally agreed with you brother
Pure magic, I never tire of listening to this, so beautiful.

That classic guitar always moves me. I return to this video after certain time to remember how glorious this song is.

@@theoutdoorlivingpros_ the endless river, forever and ever!
If you like all the comment but the last sentence like my comment
I believe that his wife wrote the lyrics… can anyone verify for me? Thanks
This is probably my favourite solo ever. Such emotion. As someone else said below, the right notes at the right moment. Thank you for this.
Easily the most monumental song ever. The endind of this performance causes tears everytime.
Guitar solo at the end 🥰
I don't think David ever played it like that again, with that final piece of guitar. In my opinion this version is the best of all. Thank you Pink Floyd, thank you Mr Gilmour..., may God bless you forever

Lyrics
Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut
There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world
Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There's a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we've been so many times
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river
Forever and ever
This is not a song. It’s a movie
One of the greatest songs of all time. And also one of the most underrated.
The joy this song brings me is incredible.
There is music and then there is Pink Cloyd... there are great guitarists, and then there is David Gilnour! Wow... that outro has me. Crying like a baby og its absolute beauty

Stunning performance from david gilmour, it's simply fantastic ... no words needed really. Pink Floyd forever.

DON'T EVER FUCKING MENTION "RUSH" IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS "PINK FLOYD" FOR AS LONG AS YOU LIVE..!
Excellent performance as ever by David Gilmour. This is one of the best live albums that I own, and I would even put it on a par with Pulse.
The ending of this never fails to bring me to tears.
La mia canzone preferita in assoluto.
Penso che se dovessi sentire qualcuno che la suona dal vivo (specie se fosse David Gilmour) potrei morire felice subito dopo. Piango ogni volta che la sento.

Just speechless. I just relax and the music flow. Why isn't this stuff on the radio?
Gilmour is the best guitar solo player there is. No need for tapping or sweep picking which is just noise to me. Just beautiful melody and feeling.
I get the same goose bumps every time i hear High Hopes. I feel just as Gragon 147, it pisses me of at an extend i just don't can put in words. But let's hope there is a great gig in the sky!
