I am not sure if it is because I pay more attention to it since the MBT video but since then I really like how the content on this channel is actually helping with getting good at competetive yugioh. Understanding why certain things are correct etc or like in the deckbuilding video why the cards are played make so much of a difference.
Don't normally comment on videos but I wanna show my support for videos like this, I'd love to see more specific matchup stuff like this
I really like this a lot. I much prefer "here's the thought process" than "here's the answer" in videos.
Thanks to Rollback it basically comes down to hitting the first card and pray eh?
Exactly...
What edition of Transaction Rollback do you own that is a countertrap? I need to make sure I don't buy that version@@aaronfromlv1552
@@aaronfromlv1552 Rollback is a NORMAL trap, if it copies B-Welcome (or any trap with removal) it TRIGGERS the furnitures since they work with "trap EFFECT" also Lab uses at least 1-2 other traps that remove. The most easily accessible is "Escape of the Unchained" while the new Terrors is also popular because you can get 2 uses out of it.
@babrad my bad g i remembered the card wrong af deleting now
@@aaronfromlv1552 don't worry we are YGO players, how the f* can we remember 10.000+ cards when we can't even read?
The existence of rollback force your opponent to be optimistic with their ash and use it almost on the first thing you do if I understand what you said
Very informative video! Thank you Josh, this is appreciated. Technical play concepts being explained like this is very good for up and coming players who want to improve at the game.
This is very good, I'd like more content like this
I love this kind of content. Would love to see this each format for more meta decks
you should try kashtira engine in that runick earthbound deck. Fenrir + level 1 = baronne, shenshen, and that earthbound fusion. squiddy made a good vid on it
he talked about that, the problem with fenrir is that it dont "play around" droll, since u cant hugin on DP if u want to bring fenrir down. Then we have the Fountain draw, if u draw Fenrir of that u just basically -1 less in your hand.
oh true forgot about the dp hugin to play around droll
It's a classic "ygoPro replay" thing where it looks cool on paper (or rather in the simulator) but doesn't actually work in practise
I've tried the deck intensively.
Making Baronne is your last concern since you can make it even through multiple interactions.
The main issues, imo, are:
-Best case scenario you'll end on Fountain Omega Baronne. Which is good if you can live a turn (lots of follow up). Yet, it is hard to achieve especially post side.
-Handtraps are horrible. Droll is so bad, same goes for Ash and Belle.
Sure, you can end up on Baronne, but how good is it if you can't resolve fountain and restore your card advantage?
Now this is a good in depth video. Thank you!
First time commenting.
I learned more as a Lab player than someone looking to counter Lab.
As a Labrynth player, I hate that you made this video... Cuz now I cant look at Extravagance the same 😂 well done, good content
😂, anyother youtuber wolud have talked about it
Maybe D.D. Crow will see an even bigger uptick in play since it kind of allows you to check Rollback as well as Lovely in GY, I dunno
If they furniture discard Rollback set Welcome/Big Welcome. Do you ash the welcome/big welcome? I know they have rollback in GY but I am thinking if you hold the ash/belle where can you possibly use it
You have a good point. If you Ash the Welcome/Big Welcome, you stop them from getting Lovely on board, but they are likely to do it anyway with Rollback. So Ash makes them need 2 cards to get to Lovely, you kill a little of their follow-up by making them use Rollback. If you don't use it and Lovely gets on board, you can't Ash any of the Normal Traps. So maybe you hold Ash if you have a way to deal with the backrow, play through it, or get rid of Lovely and you do Ash if you don't.
A cool snapshot in the mind of a pro, appreciate that
This is great more of these for the best decks would be cool
A bit surprised that this video is 17 minutes long.
need more mid-roll ads to offset January low rpm
i learn new things everyday.
We are being blessed by competitive joshua content.
Yep, this helps you actually understand the game vs following cookie cutter advice.
Why?
If there is a clip there is a full video about lab stuff and I want to see it now
Will you test purrely post phantom nightmare? Vs fireking or chimera.
Could you make more content on the runick earthbound I really am interested in that deck
I appreciate this clip, I was thinking about rollback in Labrynth but had no idea it made it so resilient to ash... I wonder if siding belle is correct vs labrynth at this point? Probably not since it's kind of a worse ash that can only hit big welcome, for which they already have too much "insurance" for its resolution. I was considering d.d. crow as a replacement (I'm aware it doesn't fizzle rollback's GY effect but at least it removes big welcome and other stuff)
it's still correct. They're not going to always have access to Rollback plus Furniture, and eating Ash/Belle on Big Welcome can still be game ending.
"I'm aware it doesn't fizzle rollback's GY"
This is incorrect, since you lose the target you can't copy the effect. It's doesn't work like Verte.
Good to know! Thanks!
@@David-hw9siincorrect. They Are Like invoked players or Branded players. They always gonna draw rollback.
@@babradSo this would mean you can chain Crow to the Rollback GY effect? Idk if my understanding is correct, but I imagine it goes like this: Opponent activates Rollback, banishes + targets for cost, and if you chain Crow effect on the target, Rollback resolves without effect since it does not have a valid target anymore? Otherwise we'd have to Crow Rollback or a potential target as soon as they hit the GY.
My question is...
Post-PHNI is maining Ash even a good idea anymore? Snake-Eye/Fire King/RAce can all just make Heetah and revive your Ash to link climb into w/e they want or need.
Is siding Ash and maining Belle the better choice post-PHNI?
Belle has limited impact against FK and hits the fire decks way too late into their combo to be meaningful. Despite Hiita into Promethean Princess making Ash a huge risk, you should probably still main it.
IMO D.D Crow solves all the issues you both mentioned. Can't be chainblocked, hits very important one-offs, isn't OPT, doesn't offer a free Wolf using Hiita, forces them to run a 2nd Promethean.
The end board apart from the occasional Apollo isn't that strong, it's the GY and follow-up that make it the best deck. That's why i'm experimenting with the "unconventional" handtraps, Nibiru Phantazmay Crow Droll instead of Ash Belle Veiler and Imperm (i find them not doing enough despite imperm being my favourite handtrap, while Thrust isn't played that much for Phantazmay to be punished)
belle > ash. this is just wrong bro
Skull meister ☠️💀☠️
@@davecatss6652 Do you mean that Belle > Ash is a wrong situation to have in the game?
liebe für das video ♥
Ofttopic guys, but how do you approach Wanted Poster that searches daibellester? Would you ever ash that one? and another question, if Diabellestar comes to field, do you ever impermanence it, or you always wait for main engine.
You can Ash Wanted and Pray, but Fire decks have a lot of extenders that it is really risky.
Imperming Diabellstar is good since you are also preventing a draw, and since it's a Dark it cannot be dodged using Kirin.
@@David-hw9si great advice, thank you sir. I kinda always keep ash for fireking island, idk if its correct
@@JessperTV If you don't have another handtrap along with Ash, i would wait for "Sinful Spoils - Snake-Eye" since it trades with 2 cards + it's always a guaranteed hit that will hurt the combo (or extension for a big play if they already have combo)
Imperm on Diabellstar that was searched by WANTED is good for the value of not getting the +1, but if they used Kirin i would hold it for Promethean especially if they also linked away Flamberge + IP because this typically trades with 3/4 bodies (Flamberge + IP + 2 revives generating their followup + potential Apollo/SP on your turn)
The thing is you dont ash lab in a fire king snake eye format because we dont wanna risk the hita so no one want to play ash maybe droll instead
Big welcome . gets them every time
*normal welcome and Rollback laughing*
You don’t ash big welcome….yubel big welcome

Yubel sounds like saying "you belle"

TCG have maximum access of pot while MD have limited access to pot. For me negate arriana in MD Is sometime is right choice and become make sense once both important furniture is semi-limited. I believe the advice is suitable for TCG environment but still applicable for MD.
So what do you do when they play in your draw phase when they’re going second? Just scoop if no ash? Lol love this game
Lab literally one of easiest deck in the meta to break their board if you know what you are doing.
How do you break their board when they discard your hand. If you make it to the main phase yes it’s not hard. But I’ve been playing online and it’s just turbo Epidemic virus and even if you have the right stuff you just get Draw phase epidemic virus. After getting paired up against lab 4 or 5 times in a row, and getting epidemic virused 4 or 5 times in a row plus lady popping your hand, by the time it’s main phase there are no cards in your hand and there’s very little skill expression by that point
If your deck dead by virus (which is hard in current format) it's not your skill that are bad, it's just your deck of choice that are bad
Most deck that are rely on spell are have quick play starter (you can use quick play in draw phase)
Same with backrow removal, there's many option of them, so it's all depend on you
and last thing to say is, your experience of just playing online, they are not representing the format, so your argument kinda baseless
Pretty long video just to say if it lights up click activate...
Yeah pretty much, but the video has to be long to explain WHY.
IIRC cards in real life don't actually glow up
@@mrsquadbot literally lying
As someone who has done considerable lab testing why would you not run Ariane? it is literally a way to 100% guarantee they use either ash, imperm or veiler and then depending on what you pitch could potentially dodge 2 of those cards.
I agree! Mainly because I bought a bunch of CR Ariane for virtually nothing a while back and it's such a beautiful card I couldn't wait to play it😂
people are running ariane
@@lovelaxo Schmidt isn't that's the reason I made this comment.

It was the funniest joke I've ever heard lol😂😮
I just ash big lab tbh. Best thing if You don’t know their back row
Now do ash/imperm versus fire king
I dont need the pro, Joshua Schmidt, telling everybody how to beat me at locals😅. Ive been playing Lab since before the Big Welcome and Lady Lab even came into the game. Basically just Ari, Lovely, blow out traps and Lord of the Heavenly Prison with Extrav and Pot of Duality.
The background music is so annoying, as it was in one of the other videos I saw. The track is practically silent, so I can only hear little snippets of it whenever its volume raises, and it's always that twinkling chime effect. Every 30 seconds or so I hear *tling tling tling tling* *tling tling tling tling*. Please please please replace it with something that has less dynamic range; I want to hear what Josh says without being intermittently distracted by tlinging.
Sounds like it’s your ocd
@@Fr3d0-1 Bullshit.
I love Yoshi's Island but I think you're right.
It doesn’t work thanks to rollback.
I swear branded lost has never stopped my branded fusion from getting ashed in master duel, is there a different ruling in tcg?
Ash negates the effect, Lost only prevents negating the activation
Josh was talking about using Imperm on Aluber or waiting to use it on Lubellion. Lost prevents you from using Imperm on summon of Lubellion, which is why you Imperm on Aluber.
@@TheCardTrooper ah OK
He was talking about how imperm vs aluber is very similar to ash vs any welcome lab trap... He didn't mean that branded lost could stop ash !
Nice explanation, but OMG do I hate Labrynth 🥴
As someone who made lab on Master Duel but rarely plays it because I just don't enjoy it very much, this helped me learn stuff for when I'm playing lab, not just against it.
I am the opposite, even in that fairy/fiend event where it was only lab against decks made to win against lab it was the most fun I had in this game, even with evenly, duster, so many blow outs and so many lab mirrors I liked it a lot
I play so many bad lab players bro 😂
I feel so attacked rn.
Big Welcome. Still
watch the video against good lab players on big welcome will get you a dead ash
@@yy5173do you know what the odds are of Lab not opening engine when they go first and open Extrav? It's next to zero. So Ash Blossom on Extrav is more likely to get punished, even after PHNM
@@metaggritzZzZ, watch the video josh will know better than us two idiots
@@metaggrit with maxed out Furnitures, Arias, Arianna, both Welcomes I was struggling 3 weeks straight to open any engine getting hands of Nibiru Imperm Ash in multiples, so this comment hurts me on a personal level.
IMO while Ash on Big-W feels like the best trade, if you allow them to see 6 cards instead of 4 (due to extrav) you are increasing your chances of gettting a double-welcome play. I would keep Ash for the Big Welcome only if i had Imperm/Veiler as well.
@@yy5173 I watched the video. He said to choose which one. All he said was that hitting Extrav is a little better than last format. So think about it. After running the numbers on a hypergeometric calculator, hitting Big Welcome is objectively better
this deck being functionally droll proof is horrific
I'd say it makes it look like a good meta call in that case😅
I would say deck that lose to droll generally more toxic than deck that can survive droll
@@absentmindedshirokuma8539 oh I don't think it's toxic, its just insane that ash/ghost belle is pretty much all you can do
@@melleen629 imperm on the level 8s, crow/bystials on the furniture, crow on rollback's target and cosmic cyclone all do decently.
@@doublereel-real u don't wanna imperm Lady 💀
I am a bit confused about something. The argument at 6:25 is that if they already have engine to get to one of the traps, then you should ash exrravagance to prevent them from getting access to the second one. But they can already get to one of the traps anyway so in the end what did the ash do? On the other hand, if I don't ash extravagance, yes they might draw more engine, but they may also just whiff the draw so the ash can stop the engine they already have. So is it still worth ashing the extravagance?
Onest
I hate Labrynth so much. Runick is BS, but Lab is even more BS than Runick. I wouldn't have an issue with these decks if Konami would JUST BAN THE DAMN FLOODGATES!!!
I'm so unbelievably over it at this point and would rather see all the floodgates banned in exchange for allowing annoying trap decks to exist. My blood pressure will rise like no tomorrow but at least the main issue with these decks is finally stamped out for game balance reasons.
What floodgates are you worried about? 😂
This Deck isn't even playing floodgates anymore (with a Skill Drain or D Barrier in some exceptions, but it's not the rule) so what are you on about?
@@Andy4995 it's due it being a decent deck, that's why
Were people genuinely questioning whether they should be Ashing a raw +1?
Its mainly a tough call because extrav is always the first action and you just dont know if its to bait ash or not
Because drawing unlike searching isn’t a guarantee they get what they want.
. Even excavating from Prosp gives you the better chance of getting what you need. Ashing Extrav feels like crap if you waste it and then I open a maid or welcomes, etc.
I would only ash Extrav if I drew double Ash.
As someone that plays Lab I use Extrav/Prosp as opening play for Ash bait because chances are high other cards in hand can set up my board anyway if I can get Big + little welcome to resolve
