Not only Mulcharmy's are pricing you out. It's also the whole Azamina Archetype thing. I feel like it's all just becoming one huge archetype. Which is cool, but not if it limits your budget options in addition to the new mulcharmys... This game really becomes unplayable if you don't want to spend hundreds..
To be honest, if you put aside the fact it introduce a Maxx C like in a format that didn't wanted to see that kind of card again (Which is already enough), the fact it's a close mandatory x3 that cost most than 100 euro per copy when we are more and more vocal about the price problem (and after an overall bad year when it come to product) is what make that card problematic
Pretty much every single hobby has things that are "too expensive." And you know what people do? They simply play within their means. I don't agree with Konami's approach here, but it certainly isn't a unique one. Sure, this card may help you a lot competitively, but you absolutely don't NEED it to be successful.
@@klarkgoros2343 Other games and hobbies with pieces that are too expensive usually have alternatives or a casual environment where those expensive items aren't so necessary. Yugioh only has Advanced format. And it's so hostile to casual play that competitive is all that's really worth playing due to a disconnect in design. There needs to be leeway for alternatives to exist.
@@klarkgoros2343 Oh my god here come the "Why are complaining about SP price just use Unicorn" bullshit argument. In an absolute you don't need it since it's just a staple, but the thing is, there is too much advantage between someone who have Fuwaross and someone who can't have it. Like every competitive list that top have SP and not Unicorn instead, every list will have Fuwaross now, you "but you don't need it" argument will fell off. Competitve card game that are regulated by pricing out people isn't healthy, it's just toxic gatekeeping made by scummy practice.
@geek593 there are always players that get it done competitively on a budget. My premise is that rather than wasting time complaining about it, most players would be better off practicing or strategizing. Both of which are far more influential to success than simply having the latest and greatest staple. We got the Rarity Collections after all. Even though they screwed up with Fuwalos, it doesn't mean the game's dead, and it doesn't mean they won't eventually make changes.
As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter if these Mulcharmy cards were literally Maxx "C" straight up; if I have to pay $40+ each on a secret rare that I need x3 of for any competitively viable deck then I will just not play a competitively viable deck. This kind of predatory nonsense from Konami is absolutely disgusting at best.
@@user-cm4rv5ko3j yeah well saying your iq is lower than 150 or saying that it's exactly 40 is the same thing but one is a bit more precise don't you think?
@@JuneTV03 This hurt to read honestly. OP was saying 40 usd is their limit. So now I want you to do some thinking, and all you'll need is the mental capacity of a 5 year old to understand - what can we infer about how they feel about the 150 usd price point based on their limit of 40 usd (usd stands for US dollars btw)
The thing about the "minigame" in the TCG about main decking 3 ash, 1 called by and 3 crossout is that for crossout to work, you still need at least 1 copy of the card in the main deck. This would be fine if the card wasn't priced at 100+$ for a singular copy. So it creates this "borrow from a friend syndrome" just like we had with trident dragion for tenpai. Only difference is that that was an old card that didn't get reprinted, and this is a new card that won't get reprinted any time soon. So your choices are either to not play a deck that plays into this card (like centurion) or to play a deck that does play into the card (like yubel) and play the "minigame". And not only that, but in the future, deck building will also get constricted, since now you have to play 4/7 cards in every deck before adding any further cards. So overall: 1) Limits deck building creativity; 2) Has an insane price point which will discourage a lot of players from playing; 3) Creates a minigame before the duel even starts; 4) Limits deck choices just by existing; Not looking forward to playing in this format at all.
Crossout isn't even a particularly good counter to this, you have to run 1 dead card for it to work going first and you still have to deal with purulia post side, so if your deck can't ignore that you'd want to put in another brick for it and on top of that they could still just sack a double chummy hand. The card as a whole is a lot less good than people give it credit for, and if yubel didn't exist in the format it'd be a strong consideration for me to not even run fuwalos. Its def a good card, but droll works going first and going second, is a lot better into something like centurion. Other one for one hand traps don't necessarily lose to the turn skips running around, because not every deck can play if they get stopped turn 1 like that. Dom impulse is probably the more stifling card for decks to deal with.
Why you all so negative? It's not the best card ever and ppl still lose with it. Play 3 ash and a cb and hope for the best. And if it resolves look em in the eyes. Most feel guilty lmao. If you win from there you feel like gogigachad

Like everyone, the pricepoint is a dealbreaker for me, but I generally don’t like cards that can single-handedly win a game if the top meta deck draws it and I didn’t open some interruptions I can just set. If I have to abandon course and make a 1-2 interruption endboard and they open a board breaker and a starter, then it is just going to feel miserable. If every card was a common and I could pivot decks for nothing, then I would be more willing to give it a chance, but I don’t want to find out that my deck I thought could work under fowalos just doesn’t. I know I am catastrophizing a little but the principle of how this card was released and works just upsets me.
this card is rare in ocg but still expensive, and I still believes that the best way to do this is to change maxx c's effect to Fuwalos'. Konami just don't admit they printed maxx c wrongly.
The price is just another bad part. The card could be $5 and the gameplay loop it provides would still suck ass. The card is fundamentally broken from a design standpoint since hand traps that draw you cards functionally act like Vanity’s Emptiness from hand since your options are either pass or drown against your opponent’s card advantage. I don’t think “just make a lower impact board” is reasonable either. Fuwalos is, at worst, an Upstart that forces your opponent into a subpar board. And at best it just ends the turn. I don’t think the idea of it only killing certain decks is a valid reason why it’s a fine card. D Barrier doesn’t do anything against decks like Floo or Cyberse piles, but that card has had calls for it to be banned literally since release.
Making a card so good it gets played in pretty much every deck, and people also include all the outs, and it's also very expensive, yes that kind of ruins the game.
@@domimomi3954 Ash was the answer to advantage spells that were previously unable to be interacted with due to hand traps previously being in a monster only and usually only on the field design space. She also wasn't $150 on release day as a rebalanced version of a banned card players in the region famously don't want in the format.
What infuriates me is that they keep making mandatory cards (if you play competitive) secret rare and obviously they get very expensive. It's fine if I can't play a deck because I cannot afford, say, Diabellstar, but I really hate it when I cannot play ANY deck because I cannot afford Droplet, or SP, or Lightning Storm, or Purulia, or Fuwalos, or whatever the next overly expensive staple will be. Konami as a company really needs a wake-up call and they absolutely need to adopt better practices that are more favorable to the consumer.

Let’s be honest here Josh. The card exist so whether or not people like it at this point don’t matter. I appreciate in this video that you are trying to make the card seem less as bad(and I agree) but it’s not the real problem. The real problem(which you mentioned) is the price & accessibility. Because of this card, the gap between the best decks, & other rogue deck stretches further. People who had a chance before will struggle more. If konami made this card accessible right away let’s say… in multiple rarity EVERYONE would pick up the card(let’s not lie about it). I think that it would be better this way then to only have a certain few who can afford it. Yeah, I understand Konami has to print it later on to make more $$$, but I’m sure everyone can also agree. THIS card will never lose its value in early reprints. Maybe later on, if the card keeps getting reprinted, but I still don’t see it. It’ll drop then, rise back up.
A month or two later Konami introduces a new “Mulcharmy” card called “Mulcharmy Magnolia” that, once per turn, lets you draw a card each time your opponent adds an additional card to their hand. I'm proud of all the people who're simply not going to play over this. Not supporting the TCG's bullshit is the only way they are ever going to change thm. I seriously urge all players to walk away until these abusive practices die.
It’ll never happen. There is always someone buying an obscene volume of product that doesn’t even play so I’m not sure how effective a player boycott would be
I mean, I'm one of those people but not by choice. I'm forced to go to locals and other events without fuwaloss, meaning the moment I step through the door I'm already at a severe disadvantage. All I can do is bitch about it or give up on all the time, effort and money I already put into this stupid game.
As a VS player Maxx C didn't bother me since I could do full combo while only give them 2 draws. I'm actually more scared of the charmmie since I summon from the hand way more than the extra.
@ DrAiPatch I also play VS and you can definitely give a lot more than just 2 draws. I play a small Spright package to give access to negation or a Mannequin Cat line and a small Horus package to get rank 8 access and draw to find Raizen. Both maintain attribute synergy and don’t run into the issue of certain cards like Belle being awful this format. “Full combo” in VS isn’t just make Rock and special Mad Love, especially with cards like Stake Your Soul and Jialong if you don’t feel like considering other supplemental engines.
Whether it’s good or bad, I think the implication that if maxx gets banned in ocg/md and the multicharmy cards brings the 3 formats closer to each other, that would be interesting. Rn the 3 formats feels like different games.
I think the clear ideal/hope with this card is that it might eventually lead to combining both OCG and TCG together into a fully international TCG. Maxx C is the most divisive card between the two so “just release shittier Maxx C and get rid of C” seems to be the simplest solution.

Fuwalos really hurts the *current* best decks like Yubel and Snake-Eyes, but why is that a good thing? A banlist also hurts them. We don't need a meta warping card to change the meta and all future metas to fix Snake-Eyes and Yubel. Sure, right now it doesn't hurt the likes of Memento, Centur-Ion, Rescue-Ace, Voiceless Voice, Labrynth, Tenpai. But at the same time it hurts a LOT of other decks. Salamangreat, Marincess, Raidraptor, Blackwing, Virtual World, HERO, Mermail Atlantean, Blue-Eyes, Insects, Generaider, Plant Link. It's just as bad in some ways as Maxx C, in that it warps the meta around itself. Killing some decks if they have no good way to play around it and killing future decks that can't. Which nevitably leads to Konami printing decks that play around it better, more power creep, cycle repeats etc... It's overall poor design, that narrows the pool of viable decks. Forcing people to play certain types of decks, which is the antithesis to what makes Yugioh great. I suspect it'll get banned at some point in the TCG. Staples that warp the meta and card design around themselves are always bad for the health of any card game.
Except it doesn’t do that. People said for ages that “Maxx C keeps combo in check” yet you look at the OCG and their top decks are pretty much the same. Fuwalos won’t prevent anything. You’ll just have 1/3 games where you get hit with it and you either have to have the Ash/CBTG/Crossout or you pass turn. There’s no shot in hell this card doesn’t get banned in the TCG.
@@dariuspenner2528 Yubel has been practically dead since July in the OCG, before even being hit on the banlist because that's the month Fuwalos released. The current best decks in the OCG play under Maxx C, Shifter and Fuwalos better than every other viable deck. Voiceless Voice did much better in the OCG meta than the TCG because it played under Maxx C really well. Maxx C and Fuwalos warp the meta and force certain types of decks into meta contention and force others out. That doesn't mean the best decks will always be different between the TCG and OCG because of Maxx C, or that combo decks can never be the best. It just means they have to be EXTRA POWERFUL, compared to everything else. Which is its own problem.
@ monkfishy6348 That’s verifiably wrong. Yubel was the 2nd best deck in July, behind Fiendsmith SE and even after that it was up there with Tenpai. Yubel is also inarguably the best deck in Master Duel prior to Tenpai coming out even though Maxx C exists.
@@dariuspenner2528 Yubel was a top 3 deck in July and prior, but SINCE July (the 27th to be exact, hint hint the day Fuwalos released), it dropped to 5% representation and never recovered. It went from arguably the best or 2nd best deck, to Tier 2 over night, without even a banlist. Fuwalos and Maxx C gatekeep decks. There is mountains of evidence for it. They are horrible for the health of the game. Master Duel is a completely different game, there's no use even comparing them. Different banlist, different card availability, different match format entirely...
@ monkfishy6348 Yeah Yubel is currently a tier 2 deck because it’s been powercrept by Azamina and Raizeol. No shit the deck has fallen out of favour following the release of better archetypes. Looking at the game historically, anti combo tools have never kept combo in check. Maxx C is an empirically better card than Fuwalos and when you look at the history of top decks in the OCG vs TCG, our formats are virtually the same. Maxx C did nothing to keep decks like Spyral, Tear, Pendulum Magician, Snake Eye, etc. from dominating their respective formats. Fuwalos isn’t gatekeeping anything. It just now introduces the Maxx C mini game in the TCG where we now have to play Ash, CBTG, and Crossout in everything and deal with the 1/3 games where Fuwalos gets dropped and hope you have the answer. The strongest hand trap of all time and arguably one of the strongest cards period has failed at gatekeeping against combo. Fuwalos is a worse card and won’t do any better at gatekeeping combo. All it does is introduce a frustrating gameplay loop where sometimes you’re forced to pass because of functionally a floodgate from hand. Trying to say Fuwalos is why Yubel dropped in popularity when it was the second best deck behind Fiendsmith SE pre-ROTA is laughable. It got worse because it got powercrept by other archetypes.
I agree with your points. I think the card WOULD be very healthy for the game if everyone could get their hands on it. But knowing Konami the next reprint will not be until the next maze set or even the next tins at a high rarity.
@@gamermulti5883 Eh, I don't think it's as toxic as people think. You can still play around it and give your opponent maybe 2 draws like stated in the video. I much prefer real games rather than me or my opponent just having to watch solitaire and then have no way to actually play.
Yeah, Josh thinking what I used to think. What he unfortunately forgets is that you can also just Main more Floodgates, so that you still win if you go first and have to pass. Tract can search Majesty’s Fiend after all. It’s gonna be a weird situation, but you probably don’t change your deck just because of Fuwalos. You will get hit by it every 6th game (every 3rd going first), and then you will draw the out more than 50% of the time. The actual amount of games in which you need to go for a supoptimal combo, or in which you wish you had picked a Midrange deck, is way too small to make up the difference in power between those types of decks. It simply means that it is safe down to that age and that at that age they might be able to understand it enough to play it. The game in the ocg is actually rated for 12+ and the original manga was essentially pg13. This is an adult game. It is very complex, and expensive. Komoney knows exactly who 90% of their market is and what type of game it is.
TCG environemment was better than OCG because we didn't have Maxx C. Now is no longer the case. I am considering quitting ygo because of Fuwaross (and the future multcharmies: konami will surely print 1 for each attribute...). Let's see how this format evolves
I get the idea that Fuwalos might insentivise a lower ceiling on decks, but that is the exact argument that has been made for Maxx C. Unfortunately I see the minigame as inevidable for most decks, just like in master duel. Also the problem is again, just like with Maxx C, that this targets combo heavy decks in total, not just the top perfoming ones. That, along with the pricing makes me believe that many players will skip this format, hoping for a quick ban. I'm taking Centur-Ion to locals tomorrow; curious to see other peoples opinions
This card will be komoneys cash cow for at least the next 1-1 1/2 years it will get 2 short printed reprints to sell otherwise mediocre sets before it gets a third somewhat affordable reprint just to get banned a few weeks later
It won't keep combo decks from doing well but it does give a good answer to them when you play against them in a tournament. I wouldn't say its without its own annoyance, but fuwa and dom impulse are probably net gains for the game and not negatives. It gives people an individual card they can draw to not lose to engraver throne, or ash/bonfire witch openings, which otherwise took 2 somewhat specific or 3 less specific hand traps to deal with, often being put in a position where they can have a single extender to play through that as well. Both se and yubel do probably need to be banned into the ground, but its a band aid fix to a problem that won't go away long term. Its going to be over centralizing but its probably not going to be unbearable to deal with either.
@@cuttlefish6839this isn't a fair comparison. Fuwaross for the most part, can only be played going 2nd. Pot of greed also helps going first decks, I could see an argument for printing one with the idea that if your opponent controls a card and you don't, then you can activate the draw 2. But like, pot of greed doesn't even try to address problems with the game, whereas fuwalos does.
I don't have a problem with having to readjust your strategy or deck to play around this card. It's just the price, the fact that you have to own it to compete, despite not being hurt by the card yourself.
@@easyygo3008Ok but OCG is basically the same game, by the same business and doesn't have to deal with this. Masterduel's way cheaper to. Why should TCG players have to put up with the prices?
What I find a little interesting is, that you can drop Fuwaloss on your own turn. So if you play against Centur-Ion and by some stroke of luck open double Fuwaloss, you can use one on your opponents turn to draw 1 and then again in your draw phase, because Centur-Ion monsters in the S/T zone can only use their stuff in the main phase, so to summon Blazar or something like that, they would give you 2 other draws. This dynamic is a little weird I feel like, because you basically opt to play on your opponents turn with the setup you chose, but still get punished for it. Maybe that's still a good thing, because some decks play a lot on your turn, like OG Tearlament. No idea; I don't know what to think of this whole thing
I don’t think it’s so easy to separate the effect the card has on the game from the price as two different issues. Most yugioh players especially at locals play their rogue or pet decks which get absolutely slaughtered by this card. The dynamic this card creates is going to be more centered around who can afford it as opposed to how it would theoretically affect the wider meta game. Sure at top tables everyone will have copies and the game will be interesting, but it’s hard to care about that when probably the bottom 50-75% of tables have players who just don’t have the card at all. More Yugioh is going to be played where the dynamic is one player has the card and one player doesn’t than there will be of both players having access, and I think that’s a really crappy move on Konami’s part
If Konami doesn’t want yugioh to die, they should start printing every core staple in low rarity so more casual/rogue deck players can get their hands on it for cheap and still play the game and have the courage to attend more events thanks to having a solid backbone in form of good staples

The problem isn’t the price, the problem is the gameplay that it causes. It is functionally just Maxx C against a lot of decks and can be used twice to get 2 draws per relevant summon. Getting draws from a hand trap just shouldn’t ever happen because they functionally become a Vanity’s Emptiness from hand since you either pass turn or give your opponent a massive amount of draws and lose. Price is only an issue in so far as it prices people out of the game. But the card could be $5 and the gameplay issues would still be present and completely game warping. Given the TCG’s stance on Maxx C I’m fully expecting this bullshit card to get banned

Price issue aside, I think Fuwalos is konami's "fix" for the tcg. it's pretty commonly speculated that card design is based around Maxx C which the tcg doesn't have, hence the wildly different banlist. I think Fuwalos is getting sent to the tcg with a sticky note saying "you are not allowed to ban this under any circumstances" and then the banlists are slowly going to converge. You'll see see stuff like baronne and savage dragon make a return until we have OCG and OCG 2. We could eventually even end up with one unified format, with simultaneous world wide releases (and card rarities,). Wouldn't that be nice? *copium
I think Tenpai is just a big problem; passing on I:P or Rabbit is probably not enough to stop a Tenpai combo, so I think it'll just push more people towards Thrust set floodgate, which isn't great YGO imo.
I think another issue here is that Centurion is almost a perfect example of a decent rogue strategy that does not die to Fuwalos; almost everything else out there does.
Thrust does not have any meaningful floodgates: DBarrier is mid, only good vs Tenpai/Branded. Different Dimension Ground is good but they can still kill you
The tcg mind cannot comprehend structuring their deck to counter one hand trap. How will 1st turn feel crossing out mullchummy(?) to have their turn ended by inperm?
7:00 In theory they could just hold Fuwaros until after Poplar resolves. That would at least force you to chose between Sinful Spoils and Temple... but honestly I don't mind that, getting punished for trying to resolve OSS lines
If it was a 20$ - $30 super rare, boxes would fly off the shelf and it would make players much happier. The thought of slapping $450 into my deck for just 3 cards thst are lowest rarity just doest sit well.
ROTA might be the bane of the TCG, no cap. If they had managed set rarities in a more mindful way it would have been a really good set. Its just a joke to have such a game warping staple being kept under an unreasonable price lock. The game itself won't die. There are tons of cards thus ppl will find good deck which can play optimally under it. We can cope all we want on it not being Maxx C, that doesnt change the fact that at least for 80% of strategies it is Shifter on crack.
Chimera is very effective in this situation. You just need to make the most basic combo that results in a Chimera Fusion monster with one card ripped from your opponent's hand, plus Swordknight on the field and the Chimera Fusion. Although your opponent draws two cards, by the end phase, their hand will be back to five cards, as if they hadn't drawn.
I'm taking a break from Yugioh anyway because my local scene died because of Snake-Eyes format and it's not really looking like it's getting better any time soon, but if Fuwaloss is still legal next time I am playing the game, that doesn't exactly make me optimistic about the experience. I feel like cards like this that particularly hate out decks doing a particular kind of thing have the potential to make playing rogue decks an even more miserable experience than they already were. That's how I felt during the format where everyone was playing Droll. I had, like, 3 rogue decks built from before then that lost to Droll even harder than the meta decks that were supposedly being kept in check by it and I was just kind of forced to switch to meta decks, or just hope they didn't open it
Putting the price point aside, because the TCG needs to die at this point. I want the OCG product and not the kick in the teeth they have been selling in the TCG. Fuwaross is far too powerful/generic and should have been split into two cards; One Mulcharmy giving draws for summoning from deck and another Mulcharmy for summoning from extra deck. Those card wouldn't have been just straight up broken in the manner that Fuwaross is, because the risk increases that my opponent can play around either mechanic (even with a lot of rogue decks) and at least set up. Those two cards would have still been powerful, but far more situational and easier to dodge. You are pretty much guaranteed to either stop the opponent or at least break even with Fuwaross. Would have been different with the split Mulcharmys.
I just don't like how it completely invalidates some rouge decks, because I'm not a fan of the design of giving the opponent more stuff to do to deal with your board, while you set it up. Because some decks can spin their weels for solid 5 minutes and you can still play through it with your opening hand and dropping a fuwaross on them idk just doesn't feel good
Seeing people point out the card is like 2 bucks in japan really makes me curious about one thing : why DOES the OCG sell those cards so cheap ? I'm glad it makes the game more affordable for OCG players and I obviously wish the TCG would follow suit, but from a corporate business trying to make money sense, i'm kind of surprised the OCG isn't price gouging cards the same way the TCG does. Is there a historical context behind that ? Did they run the numbers and figure out they simply make more money by making the game affordable to more people ? Or maybe some of law that regulates the price of trading cards ?
Because they simple cant do that in the ocg. There are so many other card games that actually compete with ygo that if they did do it like in the tcg people would just go play other games
actual competition in Japan. not that there isn't other games in the TCG territories, like MTG, Digimon, Pokemon, and so on, The TCG scene just doesn't have the same level of open competition. This is how one copy of this card can buy an entire pokemon TCG tourney winning deck.
Because gacha or cardpacks in japan is about the experience of opening a pack and getting something random. They do not want to screw the customer. People buy packs to open packs and then grab the remaining cards as singles. If customers felt screwed over on the regular they would jump ship to any of the over thriving TCGs that exist in japan.
@@DarkCT Ah, I see. Thank you and the others for the response. Guess it might be a good thing that other card games seems to be rising up on the tcg side of things then.
I think it will wind up being fine, but it should have been two cards not 1. 1 of them draws from Extra Deck only and one draws from deck only. I think purulia (and the eventual gy/banish mulcharmy) are fine. Hitting deck AND Extra decks summons with 1 card does feel kind of crazy though. I guess we will see since we don't have maxx C here to make this card even better, and it has to stand on it's own.
The Extra Deck part can't really be played around since Extra Deck monsters have to come from the Extra Deck. You can potentially avoid summoning from hand, deck or GY (not all at the same time), but not avoid Extra Deck.
One thing that not alot of people are considering are plays to draw alot of cards and then clear your own board so you can not only play around fuwaross but also draw into your own fuwaross to stop your opponent.
A. How are you proposing to clear your own board reliably? Cause I legit don't know any. And B doesn't that mean you now need to have the ability to stop your opponent from winning their turn? The only deck I can think of that even has the ability to have the chance in unchained. And you have to go for a smaller end board to set it up if it's even possible based on the starting hand?
You know id love to see a series where josh and a bunch of other professional players just talked about yugioh for a while. And I don’t just mean talking about the different cards and how they’ll effect the game (though they is still important) but also how prices will be impacted because of this cards release, an example is how Josh was just talking about how the mulcharmy purulia dropped in price because of fulwaross. Just a thought
love how konami cosmetically hit maxx c in ocg, putting it to semi-limited, and then gave everyone the mulcharmys like they aren't just a lite maxx c. they made maxx c go from 3 to 8, and basically readded maxx c to tcg...
A playset is more expensive than a meta deck in Pokémon tcg. You could probably build tenpai in Master Duel for that much and have craft points + more if you’re lucky
Didn’t Konami had a shareholder meeting last year or something and trying to find out why more people are not picking up paper Yu-Gi-Oh with the popularity of master duel? Stuff like this doesn’t entice me at all to play the physical game when I can just play virtually
In my opinion, I think it is a decently designed card. It’s good for decks who go second, and situationally, can punish decks that play through turn 0, but not really good for decks going first. Right now, going second seems to be the biggest disadvantage in this game and this archtype in general I think is crafted carefully enough to help. But I also agree with everyone that the price of the card is stupid because it’s basically saying “we’ll balance our game for a price”
One of the other parts of Fuwalos that makes it a bit more difficult than Purulia and kinda like Maxx C is that you don’t have to shotgun it in most instances. When you play Purulia, usually the first play someone does is summon from hand so you need to use it on their draw. If you wanted to you can hold Fuwa for when they commit to a play and then drop it. Sure it makes Talents live but so do the other 20 hand traps you’re playing.
Just putting it out there that my rogue deck already was severely affected by Purulia, and Fuwalos is going to be just as terrible for me. TCG used to be a safe space from lingering draw effects like this lol. Between the lack of accessibility and rogue killer status of the Mulcharmy cards I'm not at all looking forward to playing in a format with them. Rather have gamma back at 2 to help me fight it. Even with 3x Crossout that I don't want to run, id have to shell out $140 bucks just to have it as a target. Called By the Grave at more than 1 is toxic. Hell I wish they'd just set the precedent that we don't do lingering draw effects here in TCG and ban it but that'll never happen at this point.
I disagree with the mulcharmies and Maxx “C” on a conceptual level. There is absolutely zero chance in hell anyone can convince me that my opponent drawing cards for me playing the game is a remotely good idea in any capacity. Conceptually I cannot agree that a card like Fuwaloss is anything other than a toxically wrong answer. We don’t need cards like Fuwalos. What we need is a 100% GOOD fucking ban list for once. If Konami doesn’t want Yubel for example to be the top deck, they need to grow some balls and kill the deck. The damn thing being a 150 dollar secret is just salt in the wound. Fuwalos and cards like it cannot exist in a game where Tenpai exists in any capacity. Tenpai already competed with full power Snake-Eyes and Yubel competently while also being only current top deck that doesn’t auto lose to the card. I already hate Tenpai, I would like to continue playing this game in a competitive capacity even if it’s just at a locals level due to scheduling. But Fuwaloss infuriates me enough to seriously consider just NOT playing the game.
Tbh Mulcharmies could have been fine if they had a limit for how many cards you can draw, instead of that random shuffle effect that never comes up. 2 cards per Charmy would have been OK. But instead we got this
agreed, drawing when my opponent just plays the game and sets up their board just in concept sounds bad. Think of all the decks that spin their weehls for like 7 minutes to end on a board you could play into with a normal starting hand, that now just get ANNIHILATED
I would prefer a card that Says if your opponent special summons 2 or more times from the deck or extra deck discard this card add any Spell/Trap during the end phase and then put a bunch of restrictions on it like hard once per turn.
Purrely and floo are good cheap decks that can play very well around this card. Floo is self-explanatory, but Purrely has the potential to chain a quick play to a fuwa activation, and you're very likely to draw 2 quick plays or at least a My Friend Purrely. The only draw they'll get is one from baby noir, or two if you manage to get a big noir that turn.
The issue is the feeling this card generates when it’s activated against you. And I think the feeling is even worse because most players can’t afford it. It feels like your opponent can pay to win.
I think the mechanic of Mulcharmies is healthy for balancing going second. In that way Purulia is a good card. The issue with Fuwaros is that it combines the most common way to summon (From extra deck) with another one that is also very common (From deck) This makes harder to find answers to avoid it. Draws from extra deck summons was way enough. I really think there should have been 4 mulcharmies : - WATER Mulch : Draw when normal and special summon from hand - WIND Mulch : Draw when summon from extra deck (and only this which is strong enough) - EARTH Mulch : Draw when summon from deck and trap/spell zone - FIRE Mulch : Draw when summon from Graveyard and banishment. Like Joshua said Fuwaros is considered better than Purulia. Which means Fuwaros is gonna be played always and decks will need to adapt to it. It should have been the opposite, if no Mulcharmy was having a greater impact, you'd play your deck anyway but then you'd choose which Mulch to take depending on the format. And never choising your deck depending on Fuwaros only ...
Besides the unforgivable pricing, a big concern I have with the mulcharmies is that I really would hate for them to basically kill "side decking" by taking up 9 spots of every side decks just because they offer insta wins against specific decks. In that regard they would be no different to floodgates in the side deck.
okay but then they KILL you, that's a big part of its charm to make you "play around it" and then kill you...they had a solid chance to kill you without you nerfing your board but now you are very probably dead
Centur-Ion can play around 1-2 handtraps and has lines that don't give into Fuwalos. They're really underappreciated; I believe with a build that has more options going 2nd (like with Bystials and Imperm/Ogre), they can do very well in this format.
I think in addition to cross out, ash, and called by the grave, triple tactics thrust is also going to be crucial and you set a powerful turn skip card like d barrier depending on the deck.
Making cards that'll be this integral to competitive play such high rarity is predatory and will price out a lot of players.

Pretty much every single hobby has things that are "too expensive." And you know what people do? They simply play within their means. I don't agree with Konami's approach here, but it certainly isn't a unique one.

@geek593 there are always players that get it done competitively on a budget. My premise is that rather than wasting time complaining about it, most players would be better off practicing or strategizing. Both of which are far more influential to success than simply having the latest and greatest staple.

So overall:
1) Limits deck building creativity;
2) Has an insane price point which will discourage a lot of players from playing;
3) Creates a minigame before the duel even starts;
4) Limits deck choices just by existing;
Not looking forward to playing in this format at all.
Ash and cross out banned no more problem 😂

Like everyone, the pricepoint is a dealbreaker for me, but I generally don’t like cards that can single-handedly win a game if the top meta deck draws it and I didn’t open some interruptions I can just set. If I have to abandon course and make a 1-2 interruption endboard and they open a board breaker and a starter, then it is just going to feel miserable.

@@spyro2002 Heading for a cliff doesn’t equate to the game already being a dumpster fire. Why are we changing the language for sake of arguing?
Otherwise I agree with your comment. I’m all for criticism.
@@Gokuvsnaruto22 Yes, I am. Do you not know that Time Wizard Formats, casual play, extended media, nostalgia and curiosity are things? To name a few reasons why people like myself are interested in the state of yugioh.
Even people who don't play yugioh at all sometimes come to videos like these to see how other TCGs are doing.
I'm able to watch videos and find topics of Yugioh interesting even though I haven't played the past few formats for a while now.
@@Gokuvsnaruto22it kinda does, no one said the game was dead, dumbster fire just implies something sucks the same way that heading off a cliff implies the same thing.
A month or two later Konami introduces a new “Mulcharmy” card called “Mulcharmy Magnolia” that, once per turn, lets you draw a card each time your opponent adds an additional card to their hand. The effect could be combined with the effect of another Mulcharmy monster once per turn. Idk, broken af cards.
But knowing Konami the next reprint will not be until the next maze set or even the next tins at a high rarity.
even then, look at thrust: it got reprinted twice but it was so short printed its still 30 bucks a copy, and its not as mandatory as fuwalos
the next reprint is probably gonna be ots ultimate 😂
Everyone having it doesent mean everyone will draw it. Its still a very toxic card
@@gamermulti5883 Eh, I don't think it's as toxic as people think. You can still play around it and give your opponent maybe 2 draws like stated in the video. I much prefer real games rather than me or my opponent just having to watch solitaire and then have no way to actually play.
I'm not sure, but I think 2024 may go down as one of the most expensive years for Yugioh, at least as far as modern goes.
But Tenpai gets a boost, so decide for yourself if that’s a good thing…
This is the correct approach tbh
Ash being a hard counter + called being super easy to splash gets it countered half the time.
Well said yeah
it would be fine if the card was 5 bucks, but 130???? this is disgusting
Actually 150 lol
Why? Ygo is not a charity
Yeah but it’s also a children’s game and shouldn’t cost 450 dollars for 3 pieces of cardboard
@@easyygo3008Because the game is not fun when people can't compete at the same level at locals, both from the perspective of the players who spend and the ones that cannot
@@Ty-wz2dq WHY do yugioh players always fall back on this argument. It is NOT a children's game. It is RATED for ages 6+. That doesn't mean it's a children's game.
I'm effectively priced out of any events above locals until a reasonable reprint drops.
So in summary: we gotta make proxies 🎉
I get the idea that Fuwalos might insentivise a lower ceiling on decks, but that is the exact argument that has been made for Maxx C. Unfortunately I see the minigame as inevidable for most decks, just like in master duel.
Also the problem is again, just like with Maxx C, that this targets combo heavy decks in total, not just the top perfoming ones.
That, along with the pricing makes me believe that many players will skip this format, hoping for a quick ban.
I'm taking Centur-Ion to locals tomorrow; curious to see other peoples opinions
There is 0% chance of a quick ban.
@@shawnjaverymight as well put pot of greed to 3 since we don't care about drawing cards anymore
The power of this card is that it gets drawn by maxx c so that you can find the second copy of it faster
wtf if powercreep is a problem KONAMI HAS JUST TO USE THE FUCKING BANLIST not an overprized version of maxx c
I don't have a problem with having to readjust your strategy or deck to play around this card. It's just the price, the fact that you have to own it to compete, despite not being hurt by the card yourself.
Game is a business. No one wants to feel left out, but is what it is.
@@easyygo3008true but its really questionable if it wouldn’t have been smarter, business wise to just print this as an ultra or even super
Fantastic analysis, practically got every point going through my head dead on.
I like how people are just realizing Konami has been up shifting rarities of meta cards. Something they have been doing for 10+ years
I don’t think it’s so easy to separate the effect the card has on the game from the price as two different issues.
Lol no
Those are your needs. We already had OCG rarities before TAEV and the first list: game was on comma.
Everything was cheap. Then TAEV hit and game revived with PTDN.
People have argued this for years. It has never really changed. People keep buying product they will keep doing it.
@@easyygo3008 your comment just reads like: " oh no not my expensive cards if i am not the only one who can aford them then i wont ever win again because i otherwise suck at the game"
Add a "staple slot" in boosters that is always a reprint of a handtrap/board breaker. That could help selling sealed products.

I Love this Idea, but why not Release a Duel Devestator Volume 2, with all the new staples and actuall playsets + extra deck cards voted in by the community?
We need easily accesable staples and core cards for beginners and pros alike.
I wasn't playing paper anyways so my position of "continuing to not play the game" may be less impactful, but the disadvantage for not picking this card up _really_ cements me not coming back to the game.
I do think the card is cool though, the absolute worst part of Maxx C that it's advocates seem to not understand is that you can use it going first after you set up a full board in meta decks, which the Mulcharmy's don't have. Even the random put back is at least something, though I feel like it could've been slightly more strict.
So I'm not a Yu-gi-oh player, not since like 2006.
I went on a TCG website to buy product for another game. This card popped up. It was £126ish.
An entire BOOSTER BOX on what I brought was ~£88. After shipping and tax.

If you are someone who didn’t have to suffer one of these natural disasters and have the money and access for cards consider yourself super fortunate and be grateful for your situation. ❤
Short answer is yes. No other answer other than yes.
Given the TCG’s stance on Maxx C I’m fully expecting this bullshit card to get banned
price also big problem though
Cool card right now is Charizard EX.
Yes, a Pokemon card. Because modern PTCG is giving you once again the experience of an affordable, super diverse metagame.
I really enjoy the PTCG and if you are looking for a great cheap TCG, definitely check it out.
Honestly I just want to go back to playing b&w sets I miss plasma cards and gen 5 meta
Other than not wanting to be Konami's paypig, I think anything that makes combo players flip tables, prolly ain't a bad thing.
I think Fuwalos as a secret is the actual start of the end of the TCG
Tenpai will 100% be the main benefitiary. It's already easy enough to otk through an established board, so imagine doing your otk through less than half the interruptions.
It will also force a lot of deck to play more HTs and non engine to play around it, like it happens with the roach in masterduel and OCG.
I think it’s going to be miserable for rogue / budget decks, which I hate is something people are just okay with because it might help against some meta decks. We know from master duel with maxx c that people will still play the huge combo decks
@@brasil2907most of rogue and budget already miserable anyway, unless shifter decks to some extent.

Oh, so that's why there's Samurai Destroyer in Tenpai
So about €390 just for 3x Fuwalos. Insane. I’ve already maxed my deck rarity and added lots of staples like 2x Thrust, Accesscode, Garura, Ultimate Slayer etc. I’ve spent about €680 so far. I can’t see myself spending another €400 just for three cards. I may get 2x Fuwalos and 2x Forbidden Droplet. That would be worth it. The rest of my cards (besides some Secret/Ultra or Super Rare Floowandereeze engine cards) are on Platinum Secret Rare.
The OCG does the right thing - prints the cards in different rarities. The OCG doesn’t gate keep those high power cards in limited rarities (such as QCR or Secret Rare). What the TCG does is disgusting.
You are the reason Konami prints cards at secret
12:30 WE GOING FOR THE DECKOUT WITH THIS ONE 🗣🗣🗣
PRICE ASIDE. I like Fuwaross (Please dont crucify me) Its somewhat like maxx c but... actually only helps decks go second... and its even easier to play around. I think this card is fair and does not have to be banned whatsoever. Its nowhere close to the power of Maxx c, and helps decks go second. I like it.
Mulcharmy Fuwaross = Pay-to-win
*copium
We can have a similar format/banlist, but I doubt we would ever get the quality of products that the ocg gets :(
I think Tenpai is just a big problem; passing on I:P or Rabbit is probably not enough to stop a Tenpai combo, so I think it'll just push more people towards Thrust set floodgate, which isn't great YGO imo.
I think another issue here is that Centurion is almost a perfect example of a decent rogue strategy that does not die to Fuwalos; almost everything else out there does.
game 3 thrust set heavy slump 😂
Thrust does not have any meaningful floodgates: DBarrier is mid, only good vs Tenpai/Branded. Different Dimension Ground is good but they can still kill you
Actually rabbit is FTK against tenpai
@anhkienhoang3212 this man said Barrier is mid 💀
The tcg mind cannot comprehend structuring their deck to counter one hand trap. How will 1st turn feel crossing out mullchummy(?) to have their turn ended by inperm?
The TCG rarity distribution is the game's #1 issue.
7:00 In theory they could just hold Fuwaros until after Poplar resolves. That would at least force you to chose between Sinful Spoils and Temple... but honestly I don't mind that, getting punished for trying to resolve OSS lines
great discussion, keep them coming!
3 WEEKS WORTH OF RENT FOR 3 JELLY FISH
also decks that can play into droll, you can droll yourself after the first draw and stop the bleeding, then combo.
I had, like, 3 rogue decks built from before then that lost to Droll even harder than the meta decks that were supposedly being kept in check by it and I was just kind of forced to switch to meta decks, or just hope they didn't open it
€120 for cardboard is just insane, what are people smoking to justify this
Putting the price point aside, because the TCG needs to die at this point.
There is a lot more competition in between card games in Japan I think
Guys, how long was mystic mine legal?
I think this will be a similar situation
Me running Mikanko: that's only 1 draw for my opponent at most.
Dragon Link, makes Seals and pray unironically not terrible into it
Especially with the new metalmorph engine
Stuff like this doesn’t entice me at all to play the physical game when I can just play virtually
horus stun looking good into fuwalos meta
Damn, guess that it's time to cook a line for White Forest under Fuwalos
5:20 never thought about it it like that but that’s so true
My proxied Dominus Pulse playset in the Lab deck i bring to locals:
In my opinion, I think it is a decently designed card. It’s good for decks who go second, and situationally, can punish decks that play through turn 0, but not really good for decks going first. Right now, going second seems to be the biggest disadvantage in this game and this archtype in general I think is crafted carefully enough to help. But I also agree with everyone that the price of the card is stupid because it’s basically saying “we’ll balance our game for a price”
To play around this card and not have to buy a playset, I'm gonna continue playing one piece o7
I wouldn't hate it that much if it wasn't so expensive.
At least Marincess can end on Toad pass once we get Aqua Angel.
But Fuwaloss infuriates me enough to seriously consider just NOT playing the game.
i feel ya man, the decision makers at konami are crazy i swear
get shiftered and charmy'd scrub 😂
The card especially illustrates how sick Maxx C is. A broken card that is super stable and at the same time is not even close to the power of Maxx C.
I really think there should have been 4 mulcharmies :
- WATER Mulch : Draw when normal and special summon from hand
- WIND Mulch : Draw when summon from extra deck (and only this which is strong enough)
- EARTH Mulch : Draw when summon from deck and trap/spell zone
- FIRE Mulch : Draw when summon from Graveyard and banishment.
There ARE decks, Josh. Plural. The word IS, is singular.
Branded is another mid-range deck can also play through it well, just make one fusion like sanctifire and set up to play on their turn
okay but then they KILL you, that's a big part of its charm to make you "play around it" and then kill you...they had a solid chance to kill you without you nerfing your board but now you are very probably dead
I wonder how dogmatika shaddoll invoked will do under this card. It’s been my pet deck but it can’t keep up
Centur-Ion can play around 1-2 handtraps and has lines that don't give into Fuwalos.
