I love the methodology of ido portal. Just play. You never see animals "training". They play. They play fight, they run around for fun, they climb trees to get food, and obviously use their physicality to actually do things for survival. The idea is just to move, try things, workout for fun, to use your body.
Very true, Most athlete's would have never been athletes and be training if they didnt enjoy what they did. I see to many people trying to force them self to workout even when they hate it. Usually after a while, most people who continue to force them self will eventually quit and become a Couch potato all over again.
At 67, soon to be 68, with absolutely minimal athletic training, this should have been in my curriculum decades ago. It wasn't, but I can still learn now. I have paired up with much a younger man, hundreds of miles away, to be accountable to each other as we train following your program. We are, in a sense training like Batman and Alfred, he is Batman, I am Alfred. We study your videos carefully, look for ways to apply them to our lives, and look forward to seeing how we grow, how we change, how we discover more of ourselves than we have ever known before. That 6th one is the hardest to train imo. The harder you 'try' the more forced you come across and it puts people off. But if you don't try at all then nothing seems to change. Need to be Zen about it, the art of effortless effort... not figured that one out yet 😕 Perhaps I'm around the wrong people. Perhaps I am the wrong kind of people... not being dark with that, well, maybe a little. Just musing.
The most important one. If everyone was emotionally in tune with themselves there would be no mental/physical conflict but that's never gonna happen lol.

I love this. When I really started taking fitness seriously last year, it dawned on me how most people were just concerned with one kind of fitness. Either endurance or strength. I'd like to be fit in as many ways a possible. It's more useful and it's way more fun. Nice video!

In my training routine, I have taken aspects of freerunning, bouldering, MMA and calisthenics. These are all sports I like doing and (in my opinion) complement each other really well. I also include some dumbbell work.
Wow, I am blown away! You inspired me to take my fitness and health to new levels! As a woman, I want to grow more muscle and be able to be strong, mobile and have endurance. I was in martial arts and lifting weights as a teenager and loved it . Now in my 40s and regaining my passion for health/fitness, I am healing my gut and food sensitivities through carnivore diet and weight training. I feel blessed to have found your channel. @@ilove2loveu still training, switched from boxing to grappling; I've competed in three JJWL tournaments in the last year, and helped raised money for the charity competition, Tap Cancer Out, Bringing me to four competitions so far (I recently signed up for an invitational competition known as Arte Suave, I'm hoping I get invited. That will be a submission only competition, a format that really excites me.); I'm steadily winning more of my competition rounds too. So either I'm either sucking less (getting better) or my opponents are getting worse. I've gone from an average of 165 - 175lbs to 145 - 150 depending on how much I let myself eat. I feel good about my weight for once in my life XD. I drink less than I did two years ago and the appeal has only gone down. I've cut my mile time by half from fourteen - thirteen minutes to six to seven minutes. I still regularly train with weights, mostly Clubs, Kettlebells, and Gada; I should honestly work more on the common big three because I've been slacking on my Bench, Squats and Dead lift. I can also now do a full hand stand without the help of the wall, and am on my way to handstand pushups. ( I can do like one and a half before losing balance, but I don't feel like it's a strength issue, just a control issue.) I've completed three bucket list items relating to physically challenging myself; I can planch for a good while, I've competed in competition, and I've successfully thrown someone who weighed a hundred pounds more than me. I think it's going well, thanks for asking, and for giving me a reason to review myself. (always good to do a self review)
Well, you are the best fitness TH-camr I know. I was always frustrated that most people teach you how to train for mass. Strength seemed more like what I was going for but I didn't quite feel like that was it. Finding your TH-cam channel made me realize that it's the all round fitness including mental fitness that I really want to go for.
I used to work on squats and deadlifts, i been watching you for few weeks and have completely changed my workout routine, believe me ,what this guy says is absolutely true, i kept my ego away and been focusing on this,this works folks
People were laughing at me when I started dancing to supplement my hypertrophy, calisthenics, mobility and grip training. But I can definitely see the improvements in my endurance, balance and general control of my body. I love this video. And I'll see to implement more of cardio and speed training. Also primal movement patterns look cool as fuck.
Also, I would love to see you discuss Modern-Day Strongman training (super heavy farmers walks, sandbag carries/throws, Yoke Walk, etc...) It’s really hard on the body, but it’s amazingly powerful for developing crazy amounts strength and strength endurance.
Every time I watch this channel, I'm overwhelmed by how many different things in the human body there are to train and how many different ways there are to train them. But that's really the highest compliment I can possibly give any fitness channel.
I was wondering when you were going to record a "The Pillars of Fitness" video, since you laid this stuff out in the book and have mentioned it in other videos over time. I'm ecstatic that you have taken the opportunity to address what today's online fitness YTer's consider fitness. I think along the way, too many people found themselves being in good shape and, having listened to some friends urging them to start a channel, found the topic to be a cash cow of sorts. It seems like there's a lot of people that really don't know what they are talking about and do little to no research, just copy other people's content and claim it as their own. Here, is the complete opposite. You have a college degree, more than 10K hours of study and practice, and are open-minded and constantly learning and improving. This alone should've given you millions of viewers, and yet, it hasn't. I am very proud of where we (Bioneers) have grown, don't get me wrong, and it's probably a good thing, in a way, that we haven't expanded exponentially and all too rapidly, because it may have lost it's way. Then again, maybe not. Instead, I see a lot of tricky, gimmicky garbage and it seems people love it. If I had to make a comparison from this channel to theirs, I would make the analogy of this being the real Batman to the other's as weekend imitators. Here is where the real work, intelligence, dedication to self and community happens.Digressing to the point of the definition of "fitness" and what it really means. This is the best way I've heard it articulated. I've read many fitness books, of many types, and it would seem they spell out what you put easily into an introductory paragraph. Thank you for this video, and thank you for the channel. Most of all, thanks for all of the work you put into this art and sharing it with the community. I think we have the best community of any channel I've visited. (Plus, we embrace cool stuff like comics and legends of their strength or intelligence field. That just makes us awesome.) Concluding this essay, I will say, congratulations on the milestone, just one of many more to come! I look forward to seeing more amazing videos and reading their even more detailed companion blogs, and a future update of sequel book. I also look forward to newcomers to the channel and community. I’m in the middle of expanding my horizons of fitness. I’ve been a bodybuilder/strongman for about a decade now and hit lots of the strength numbers I wanted 5 years ago. Could you possibly do a series of videos essentially making a workout routine that focuses on each pillar. Almost like how to Greeks would have specific tetrades for whatever the practitioner was training for.

So getting his book. One more year after my senior year to get it and adapt to it. Bruce Lee once said "Always be yoursel, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not into the world and look for a successful personality and duplicate it." He completely fulfills that quote. Number one inspiration.
Just popped up on my feed today. Excellent vid. This is exactly what I have been preaching to people, but in the era of instagram it’s difficult to get people off the “just look good for the camera (and then maybe even do a little fixing with photoshop)” mentality. At 50 I’m not nearly as much of any of these things you describe as I once was, and I can’t do certain things due to a myriad of injuries over the years, but I still train with this same philosophy and do as much as I can. It makes a huge difference when I get out there on my mountain bike, or on the pitch, or in an obstacle/dirt run with people who are young enough to be my kids and I can still stack up well. And in the day to day, when I can just do what I want physically without worry. The “fitness” industry has been selling a lie for decades to people. I see it starting to change, with people like you leading the charge. But so many still buy into the old nonsense. Keep up the good work and preach on!!! 🤙
Something to add here: learning breath control through singing makes you a better speaker. Music, visual arts, writing, and other creative pursuits can also be learned just as any other field. However, you only have 16 waking hours a day and 8 of them are taken by your job and 3 are taken by meal prep and eating. If you have friendships to maintain and/or a family you have maybe 2 hours a day on average to focus on something. It takes thousands of hours to get even moderately competent in any field, physical or mental. At some point you must pick and choose what you spend time getting better at, if you spread yourself too thin you will not improve at all
Another great video. Loved the shoutout to juggling, on the surface it seems like a relatively useless skill, but I found my overall hand eye coordination improved immensely after I started practicing it.
This speaks to me on a deeper level! Growing up I did all types of sports: Snowboard, bmx, football, motorcross etc, which have given me a high coordination of movement and general body awareness etc. One thing I always feel I lack is the focus or maybe discipline to build strength to supplement my hobbies. I am slim build and in many movements I can see a benefit of added strength. Thanks for sharing. Your perspective on fitness have awakened some interest for me to keep building my body and my mind further:)

What Ilike most about this channel is the approach. Instead of supplying us with constant 7 minute abs, JUST DO THIS kind of videos, we get an intelligent approach. Concepts of fitness as a whole and what it means to really be fit is a lot more important and interesting than the five best tricep exercises. I'm so glad I found this channel.i've always swithced between different types of work out either weight lifting, body weight, mma and etc. I had the mentality that I had to choose one or the other because rather then being jack of all trades I should Master one type of work out. The thought that if I get too big I'd be sacrificing speed and explosive power. but after watching your video it's definitely made me rethink my training.
I use to and still do wrestle with this concept but when I look at people like khabib and John Jones even a Daniel Cormier or Mighty Mouse I think to myself well John Jones is muscular and doesn’t looks like a bodybuilder nor Daniel Cormier Mighty Mouse is short as ever but could definitely beat up a lot of guys same wit khabib I think to myself bro ok so either I’m thinking bigness or being jacked is translated to actual strength or I’m secretly If I’m being real wit my self without fear of judgment just want to be aesthetic in which case I’m playing myself and all I really want is to be aesthetic I don’t know just my thoughts bro but I feel you

Shawn Baker breaks world records on the carnivore diet, other athletes swear by veganism for optimal performance, people note enhanced cognitive function and mental clarity on keto. Maybe we can see a video on that
This would be interesting to see a video on. One thing that I have noticed over time, is that it really is the individual and how his/her body reacts to certain foods. The amazing thing is, what we are used to, in our geographical area, are probably going to be the types of foods we need to thrive on. I'm not talking of the fast food or processed types here, yet, those pertaining to regional home cooking. One can supplement the diet with more vegetables or meat and find his/her body responds more positively to it. So the good news is, you can trial and error with this, play with the change ups, and keep a nutrition journal to hone in on exactly what works for you. Maybe this or type diet works, or maybe it doesn't. Maybe none of them really works or any number of them. It just takes playing around with the combinations to find it. This can be done quickly and efficiently. I'm not going to leave you on a cliff hanger like that, I'll go one step further and lay it out for you 9and whomever may find this helpful) the nutrition journal doesn't have to be it's own, bulky notebook, nor does it have to be overly detailed (if you don't want to, or if you do, that's cool too and totally up to what you feel comfortable with, just as long as you are consistent). Just log a sentence or two describing how you feel just after dinner and what you ate. Come back in an hour and write/type another sentence or so, when it's had a little more time to process. Whenever you train, write how you believe you performed. Do this for each meal, for each week of trying each diet. If one doesn't feel good on day three or so, stop it, reset, wait until the next week to start the next. This way may seem like a long time, but trust me, it is far more quicker than trying to find "the perfect diet", then getting disappointed in it not working for you, if it doesn't. This would surely lead to being upset and having a negative mental input that may put you off from working on finding your optimal fuel. Then again, it may not. The key takeaway here is trialing is actually faster and pays off huge, and consistently, in your future! You may find neither veganism makes you wanna puke or carnivore diet makes you feel sluggish, or you may find a great balance of simply eating more home cooked meals that you already eat, just adding a little more or less of something. The only problem with the regional theory would be that different geographical groups have constantly migrated/ or were nomadic during the time period were natural selection through food types would have been most prevelant. Definitely an interesting idea.
All three diets have a common denominator: elimination of processed foods. Nobody knows what the ideal human diet is, if any such diet exists, but we know for sure that the typical processed garbage most modern western people eat is making us sick and fat.
@@ienjoyapples Sick, and fat, and depressed, and anxious, and lethargic, and shorter attention spans, and reduced EQ, the younger golden years end sooner, and overall life expectancy also goes down. Sugars and fake foods like seed oils and high fructose corn syrup are a disease on our species. We are the weakest, sickest, most uncompassionate we have ever been.
Yeah bro, spot on. Flexibility, endurance, strength, speed, tendon strength, cardio, finger strength, gut cleanliness, reaction time, recovery time, knuckle condition, appearance, hair/nail growth, eyesight... It's pretty limitless, can all be trained and improved & everything effects everything else in ways well beyond people realise
I love it. That being said, if you are a complete newby or your responsibilities enable you only up to 5hours of workout a week - focusing on one thing only is most definitely the best approach. Improving cognitive skills isn’t fitness, and working on them isn’t something you need to view as training or you simply won’t get better; it’s about interest and curiosity.
The best. 100% the best. I went from sprinting, to breakdancing, to calisthenics strength training...and now I do a mix of all 3, but I'm looking at martial arts and exercises that require exerting strength for long periods of time. The goal is to be strong and agile in both body and mind, able to protect my loved ones and easily maneuver out of tricky scenarios. It is insanely refreshing to hear someone else share a somewhat similar perspective. Keep on keeping on bruv~~
I'm not that much of a expert, but trainning for strength is best cause it can give a feel for body usage and promote stamina for further new excercises.
@@tatapramod277 But, training strength solely doesn't really give you that built look. You'll feel strong, yes. But, not look strong. if you catch my drift.
Depends. If you’re a decently active person you should be ok going into lifting and focusing on strength, I would recommend Strongman training for that. If you’re sedentary (sit in a chair all day) or if you can’t do 50 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, and 30 dips than I would say you should focus on building a base before you start purely focusing on the compound lifts. If you don’t put in the time before and strengthen up your tendons, you’re just gonna get injured. The Bioneers ebook actually has a really good training program to start out on to build that tendon strength.
The earlier you are in your lifting "career" the more strength training will trigger hypertrophy. Just because 8-12 reps is the "hypertrophy" range and 1-6 is the strength range doesn't mean you won't trigger muscle growth with lower reps, just less so if hypertrophy is your primary goal.
Really enjoying your channel. As for Pillars of fitness, I believe as a father now that fitness has changed from being fit to play rugby and go hiking or SUP. To have the ability/fitness to bend, stretch, run, teach, play. As my child grows I find myself doing more demos of climbing, crawling, swimming, bike riding, and trying to anticipate what is next. Having the energy to do this with my child, while working 2 jobs and the calm that comes from being fitter. I am also a do more in bare feet type of person, been wearing five fingers shoes since the early 2000's and find the added balance and movement excellent. Thanks again for your content. Could you look in to pre danger/fight adrenaline rush, and how to deal or use it? I always get shaky legs before confrontation. Im working in environment where are a lot of people locked in and there are plenty of bars also.
Your breathing patterns help a lot but nothing beats competency and trust in your ability to defend yourself. Learn about the fight or flight response and how breathing patterns relate to certain states and enjoy your training my man

First of all: Your videos are absolutely awesome || My only question: How do you get all of these 5 aspects into your training? (one aspect every day 5 days a week? How do you personally manage it?)
Training with a plan of what one wants to accomplish that day/week. Being efficient in the session by knowing what is needed to be completed. If training with external weights, having the area staged or all objects within a reasonable distance form one another (like in a gym). Having the types of training planned and a timer to work on quality reps. (Note: quality, perfect form reps = strength and power gains, however, it also means that ones previous rep count goes much lower. This is more than okay! It gives the practitioner all of the same benefits but cuts down on the time taken to complete. ) These types of reps frees up valuable time to practice other aspects of fitness, for a more balanced approach. He has a few training breakdowns in the Superfunctional Training book that takes one from beginner to master and it's very much worth the small price (especially while it's still on discount) for the huge gains one makes with it. Very informative. I’ve done it the wrong way since I started out as a kid. The fittest I’ve been was in the army and later on as a BJJ practioner. With age I’ve accumulated many injuries so now on a quest to get the balance right. This video has been a good start
I am 15 yrs old can run 2.5 km, do kickboxing pretty well and also know parkour. that's my style of training. combine it with an hour of meditation and you're good to go. all the best for your further videos. love your vids.

Bioneer ever since I've been watching you're videos I have made a workout schedule that combines 6 catigories of training forexample mine is Monday: calisthenics, yoga, cardio Tuesday: balance, coordination meditation Wednesday: calisthenics, yoga, cardio Thursday: balance, coordination, meditation Friday: calisthenics, yoga, cardio Saturday: balance, coordination, meditation Sunday: rest just so you know for anyone who wants to replicate this you can modify it any way shape or form
It took me awhile to come to this same conclusion on my own, BUT by watching various types of Olympic athletes I finally realized that I don’t need to stay stuck in this “fitness” box. I want to equally develop speed, strength and power, flexibility and mobility. None of these characteristics need to be mutually exclusive or compete with each other. Having a diverse training regiment that includes low and high impact exercises (AND rest days) is really the best way to holistically develop the body (and mind). Thanks for such great educational content!

I love the methodology of ido portal. Just play. You never see animals "training". They play. They play fight, they run around for fun, they climb trees to get food, and obviously use their physicality to actually do things for survival. The idea is just to move, try things, workout for fun, to use your body.
Very true, Most athlete's would have never been athletes and be training if they didnt enjoy what they did. I see to many people trying to force them self to workout even when they hate it. Usually after a while, most people who continue to force them self will eventually quit and become a Couch potato all over again.

At 67, soon to be 68, with absolutely minimal athletic training, this should have been in my curriculum decades ago. It wasn't, but I can still learn now. I have paired up with much a younger man, hundreds of miles away, to be accountable to each other as we train following your program. We are, in a sense training like Batman and Alfred, he is Batman, I am Alfred. We study your videos carefully, look for ways to apply them to our lives, and look forward to seeing how we grow, how we change, how we discover more of ourselves than we have ever known before. I love this. When I really started taking fitness seriously last year, it dawned on me how most people were just concerned with one kind of fitness. Either endurance or strength. I'd like to be fit in as many ways a possible. It's more useful and it's way more fun. Nice video!

In my training routine, I have taken aspects of freerunning, bouldering, MMA and calisthenics. These are all sports I like doing and (in my opinion) complement each other really well. I also include some dumbbell work.

@@ilove2loveu still training, switched from boxing to grappling; I've competed in three JJWL tournaments in the last year, and helped raised money for the charity competition, Tap Cancer Out, Bringing me to four competitions so far (I recently signed up for an invitational competition known as Arte Suave, I'm hoping I get invited. That will be a submission only competition, a format that really excites me.); I'm steadily winning more of my competition rounds too. So either I'm either sucking less (getting better) or my opponents are getting worse.
I've gone from an average of 165 - 175lbs to 145 - 150 depending on how much I let myself eat. I feel good about my weight for once in my life XD.
I drink less than I did two years ago and the appeal has only gone down.
I've cut my mile time by half from fourteen - thirteen minutes to six to seven minutes.
I still regularly train with weights, mostly Clubs, Kettlebells, and Gada; I should honestly work more on the common big three because I've been slacking on my Bench, Squats and Dead lift.
I can also now do a full hand stand without the help of the wall, and am on my way to handstand pushups. ( I can do like one and a half before losing balance, but I don't feel like it's a strength issue, just a control issue.)
I've completed three bucket list items relating to physically challenging myself; I can planch for a good while, I've competed in competition, and I've successfully thrown someone who weighed a hundred pounds more than me.

Well, you are the best fitness TH-camr I know. I was always frustrated that most people teach you how to train for mass. Strength seemed more like what I was going for but I didn't quite feel like that was it. Finding your TH-cam channel made me realize that it's the all round fitness including mental fitness that I really want to go for.
I'm so glad that you have a psychology degree, it helps to make your videos different from anybody else's.
I used to work on squats and deadlifts, i been watching you for few weeks and have completely changed my workout routine, believe me ,what this guy says is absolutely true, i kept my ego away and been focusing on this,this works folks

People were laughing at me when I started dancing to supplement my hypertrophy, calisthenics, mobility and grip training.
But I can definitely see the improvements in my endurance, balance and general control of my body.

Also, I would love to see you discuss Modern-Day Strongman training (super heavy farmers walks, sandbag carries/throws, Yoke Walk, etc...) It’s really hard on the body, but it’s amazingly powerful for developing crazy amounts strength and strength endurance.

Every time I watch this channel, I'm overwhelmed by how many different things in the human body there are to train and how many different ways there are to train them. But that's really the highest compliment I can possibly give any fitness channel.
I was wondering when you were going to record a "The Pillars of Fitness" video, since you laid this stuff out in the book and have mentioned it in other videos over time. I'm ecstatic that you have taken the opportunity to address what today's online fitness YTer's consider fitness. I think along the way, too many people found themselves being in good shape and, having listened to some friends urging them to start a channel, found the topic to be a cash cow of sorts. It seems like there's a lot of people that really don't know what they are talking about and do little to no research, just copy other people's content and claim it as their own. Here, is the complete opposite. You have a college degree, more than 10K hours of study and practice, and are open-minded and constantly learning and improving. This alone should've given you millions of viewers, and yet, it hasn't. I am very proud of where we (Bioneers) have grown, don't get me wrong, and it's probably a good thing, in a way, that we haven't expanded exponentially and all too rapidly, because it may have lost it's way. Then again, maybe not.
Instead, I see a lot of tricky, gimmicky garbage and it seems people love it. If I had to make a comparison from this channel to theirs, I would make the analogy of this being the real Batman to the other's as weekend imitators. Here is where the real work, intelligence, dedication to self and community happens.Digressing to the point of the definition of "fitness" and what it really means. This is the best way I've heard it articulated. I've read many fitness books, of many types, and it would seem they spell out what you put easily into an introductory paragraph. Thank you for this video, and thank you for the channel. Most of all, thanks for all of the work you put into this art and sharing it with the community. I think we have the best community of any channel I've visited. (Plus, we embrace cool stuff like comics and legends of their strength or intelligence field. That just makes us awesome.)

0:15 clubs and kettlebells are probably the most hidden in plain sight secret in fitness, they are pretty good tbh severely underrated

So getting his book. One more year after my senior year to get it and adapt to it. Bruce Lee once said "Always be yoursel, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not into the world and look for a successful personality and duplicate it." He completely fulfills that quote. Just popped up on my feed today. Excellent vid. This is exactly what I have been preaching to people, but in the era of instagram it’s difficult to get people off the “just look good for the camera (and then maybe even do a little fixing with photoshop)” mentality. At 50 I’m not nearly as much of any of these things you describe as I once was, and I can’t do certain things due to a myriad of injuries over the years, but I still train with this same philosophy and do as much as I can. It makes a huge difference when I get out there on my mountain bike, or on the pitch, or in an obstacle/dirt run with people who are young enough to be my kids and I can still stack up well. And in the day to day, when I can just do what I want physically without worry. The “fitness” industry has been selling a lie for decades to people. I see it starting to change, with people like you leading the charge. But so many still buy into the old nonsense. Keep up the good work and preach on!!! 🤙
Something to add here: learning breath control through singing makes you a better speaker. Music, visual arts, writing, and other creative pursuits can also be learned just as any other field.
However, you only have 16 waking hours a day and 8 of them are taken by your job and 3 are taken by meal prep and eating. If you have friendships to maintain and/or a family you have maybe 2 hours a day on average to focus on something.
It takes thousands of hours to get even moderately competent in any field, physical or mental. At some point you must pick and choose what you spend time getting better at, if you spread yourself too thin you will not improve at all
Finally there are people like you. I thought i was doing it wrong. I try to workout in awkward(safe position) yet muscle stimulating exercise.

Another great video. Loved the shoutout to juggling, on the surface it seems like a relatively useless skill, but I found my overall hand eye coordination improved immensely after I started practicing it.
This speaks to me on a deeper level! Growing up I did all types of sports: Snowboard, bmx, football, motorcross etc, which have given me a high coordination of movement and general body awareness etc. One thing I always feel I lack is the focus or maybe discipline to build strength to supplement my hobbies. I am slim build and in many movements I can see a benefit of added strength. Thanks for sharing. Your perspective on fitness have awakened some interest for me to keep building my body and my mind further:)

What Ilike most about this channel is the approach. Instead of supplying us with constant 7 minute abs, JUST DO THIS kind of videos, we get an intelligent approach. I'm so glad I found this channel.i've always swithced between different types of work out either weight lifting, body weight, mma and etc. I had the mentality that I had to choose one or the other because rather then being jack of all trades I should Master one type of work out. The thought that if I get too big I'd be sacrificing speed and explosive power. but after watching your video it's definitely made me rethink my training.
I use to and still do wrestle with this concept but when I look at people like khabib and John Jones even a Daniel Cormier or Mighty Mouse I think to myself well John Jones is muscular and doesn’t looks like a bodybuilder nor Daniel Cormier Mighty Mouse is short as ever but could definitely beat up a lot of guys same wit khabib I think to myself bro ok so either I’m thinking bigness or being jacked is translated to actual strength or I’m secretly If I’m being real wit my self without fear of judgment just want to be aesthetic in which case I’m playing myself and all I really want is to be aesthetic I don’t know just my thoughts bro but I feel you
Would love to hear your opinion on certain diets or super foods that you think potentially affect our functionality. Shawn Baker breaks world records on the carnivore diet, other athletes swear by veganism for optimal performance, people note enhanced cognitive function and mental clarity on keto. Maybe we can see a video on that
This would be interesting to see a video on. One thing that I have noticed over time, is that it really is the individual and how his/her body reacts to certain foods. The amazing thing is, what we are used to, in our geographical area, are probably going to be the types of foods we need to thrive on. I'm not talking of the fast food or processed types here, yet, those pertaining to regional home cooking. One can supplement the diet with more vegetables or meat and find his/her body responds more positively to it. So the good news is, you can trial and error with this, play with the change ups, and keep a nutrition journal to hone in on exactly what works for you. Maybe this or type diet works, or maybe it doesn't. Maybe none of them really works or any number of them. It just takes playing around with the combinations to find it. This can be done quickly and efficiently.
I'm not going to leave you on a cliff hanger like that, I'll go one step further and lay it out for you 9and whomever may find this helpful) the nutrition journal doesn't have to be it's own, bulky notebook, nor does it have to be overly detailed (if you don't want to, or if you do, that's cool too and totally up to what you feel comfortable with, just as long as you are consistent). Just log a sentence or two describing how you feel just after dinner and what you ate. Come back in an hour and write/type another sentence or so, when it's had a little more time to process. Whenever you train, write how you believe you performed. Do this for each meal, for each week of trying each diet. If one doesn't feel good on day three or so, stop it, reset, wait until the next week to start the next. This way may seem like a long time, but trust me, it is far more quicker than trying to find "the perfect diet", then getting disappointed in it not working for you, if it doesn't. This would surely lead to being upset and having a negative mental input that may put you off from working on finding your optimal fuel. Then again, it may not. The key takeaway here is trialing is actually faster and pays off huge, and consistently, in your future! You may find neither veganism makes you wanna puke or carnivore diet makes you feel sluggish, or you may find a great balance of simply eating more home cooked meals that you already eat, just adding a little more or less of something.

The only problem with the regional theory would be that different geographical groups have constantly migrated/ or were nomadic during the time period were natural selection through food types would have been most prevelant. Definitely an interesting idea.
All three diets have a common denominator: elimination of processed foods. Nobody knows what the ideal human diet is, if any such diet exists, but we know for sure that the typical processed garbage most modern western people eat is making us sick and fat.
@@ienjoyapples Sick, and fat, and depressed, and anxious, and lethargic, and shorter attention spans, and reduced EQ, the younger golden years end sooner, and overall life expectancy also goes down. Sugars and fake foods like seed oils and high fructose corn syrup are a disease on our species. We are the weakest, sickest, most uncompassionate we have ever been.
In the morning you can eat like a vegan, then the afternoon a vegetarian then in the evening like a Carnivore?

Flexibility, endurance, strength, speed, tendon strength, cardio, finger strength, gut cleanliness, reaction time, recovery time, knuckle condition, appearance, hair/nail growth, eyesight... It's pretty limitless, can all be trained and improved & everything effects everything else in ways well beyond people realise

I love it. That being said, if you are a complete newby or your responsibilities enable you only up to 5hours of workout a week - focusing on one thing only is most definitely the best approach.
Improving cognitive skills isn’t fitness, and working on them isn’t something you need to view as training or you simply won’t get better; it’s about interest and curiosity.

I went from sprinting, to breakdancing, to calisthenics strength training...and now I do a mix of all 3, but I'm looking at martial arts and exercises that require exerting strength for long periods of time. The goal is to be strong and agile in both body and mind, able to protect my loved ones and easily maneuver out of tricky scenarios. It is insanely refreshing to hear someone else share a somewhat similar perspective. Keep on keeping on bruv~~
Beginner Question: Train Strength first, Hypertrophy second or do both at the same time focusing on Strength or Hypertrophy?
I'm not that much of a expert, but trainning for strength is best cause it can give a feel for body usage and promote stamina for further new excercises.

Depends. If you’re a decently active person you should be ok going into lifting and focusing on strength, I would recommend Strongman training for that. If you’re sedentary (sit in a chair all day) or if you can’t do 50 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, and 30 dips than I would say you should focus on building a base before you start purely focusing on the compound lifts. If you don’t put in the time before and strengthen up your tendons, you’re just gonna get injured. The Bioneers ebook actually has a really good training program to start out on to build that tendon strength.

The earlier you are in your lifting "career" the more strength training will trigger hypertrophy. Just because 8-12 reps is the "hypertrophy" range and 1-6 is the strength range doesn't mean you won't trigger muscle growth with lower reps, just less so if hypertrophy is your primary goal.
Really enjoying your channel. As for Pillars of fitness, I believe as a father now that fitness has changed from being fit to play rugby and go hiking or SUP. To have the ability/fitness to bend, stretch, run, teach, play. As my child grows I find myself doing more demos of climbing, crawling, swimming, bike riding, and trying to anticipate what is next. Having the energy to do this with my child, while working 2 jobs and the calm that comes from being fitter. I am also a do more in bare feet type of person, been wearing five fingers shoes since the early 2000's and find the added balance and movement excellent. Thanks again for your content. Could you look in to pre danger/fight adrenaline rush, and how to deal or use it? I always get shaky legs before confrontation. Im working in environment where are a lot of people locked in and there are plenty of bars also.
Your breathing patterns help a lot but nothing beats competency and trust in your ability to defend yourself. Learn about the fight or flight response and how breathing patterns relate to certain states and enjoy your training my man
I got shaky legs from presenting in front of my class but when I'm on a fight, I'm kinda calm and control the situation well, weird.

Training with a plan of what one wants to accomplish that day/week. Being efficient in the session by knowing what is needed to be completed. If training with external weights, having the area staged or all objects within a reasonable distance form one another (like in a gym). Having the types of training planned and a timer to work on quality reps. (Note: quality, perfect form reps = strength and power gains, however, it also means that ones previous rep count goes much lower. This is more than okay! It gives the practitioner all of the same benefits but cuts down on the time taken to complete. ) These types of reps frees up valuable time to practice other aspects of fitness, for a more balanced approach. He has a few training breakdowns in the Superfunctional Training book that takes one from beginner to master and it's very much worth the small price (especially while it's still on discount) for the huge gains one makes with it. I hope this helps.

Very informative. I’ve done it the wrong way since I started out as a kid. The fittest I’ve been was in the army and later on as a BJJ practioner. With age I’ve accumulated many injuries so now on a quest to get the balance right. This video has been a good start

Monday: calisthenics, yoga, cardio
Tuesday: balance, coordination meditation
Wednesday: calisthenics, yoga, cardio
Thursday: balance, coordination, meditation
Friday: calisthenics, yoga, cardio
Saturday: balance, coordination, meditation
Sunday: rest
just so you know for anyone who wants to replicate this you can modify it any way shape or form

It took me awhile to come to this same conclusion on my own, BUT by watching various types of Olympic athletes I finally realized that I don’t need to stay stuck in this “fitness” box. I want to equally develop speed, strength and power, flexibility and mobility. None of these characteristics need to be mutually exclusive or compete with each other. Having a diverse training regiment that includes low and high impact exercises (AND rest days) is really the best way to holistically develop the body (and mind). Thanks for such great educational content!
