      @@nickkerinklio8239 He was raised by a catholic mother and a buddhist father, but he wasn't following any religion and when asked if he believed in God he said no.
      "Lee felt that anything which substituted the ways or beliefs of others in the place of teaching you how to cultivate your own was a step in the wrong direction. For this reason, Lee was opposed to the doctrines-or rather the dogmas-of organized religion."
      He was however not an materialistic/reductionistic atheists as he was inspired by a wide-range of religions and philosophies, from Taoism to Protestantism.

      Training strenght and power near or above 90% of 1rm does cost speed and explosiviness. So most fighters and sprinters dont lift to heavy to often. They do sport specific strenght workouts and more hiit.
      Thats why i use periodization blocks for each.
      As for Bruce he was more focused on fighting performance, technique, skills and speed.
      I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times. Bruce Lee.

      One’s an actor, and the other is a professional fighter. Kids and video game players don’t understand the difference.
      Fanatical weirdos get overly attached to their fandoms and they can’t handle those of us who look at Bruce Lee as just a human being.
      They just argue and attack instead of thinking objectively. It’s emotional for them, not logical.
      He was incredibly influential in a number of ways. Some deliberately, some by accident.
      For example: It’s not like Bruce set out to create the UFC but Dana White pointed out that without Bruce Lee the UFC probably wouldn’t ever have been conceived.
      The truth is we know very little about what Bruce Lee did.
      Let me ask: Why does it matter? Do you really believe you can copy his moves and become the next Bruce Lee? Are you idiots truly that stupid, insecure and desperate?

    He trained his forearms daily for isolated kinetics in hard and wrist trappings where he'd lock an opponent's wrists mid strike(s) and simultaneously deliver a series of devastating blows between trappings making it impossible for the opponent to realize that they are being hurt very badly until the moment of contact takes a brief recess. These would have been extremely accurate blows by the way. We have not seen this level of fight science even til this day amongst pro fighters.

      Bruce trained 2 hrs a day. Each workout focused on different aspects of what Bruce felt were the attributes most important to being an effective martial artist (speed, strength, endurance, flexibility, agility, and balance). Anyone has the time for that.
      The key is maximizing intensity during those two hrs and being consistent.
      I highly recommend reading The Art of Expressing The Human Body. It details Bruce Lee's training philosophy and shows the unbelievable dedication and commitment he had.

    To put things into perspective Bruce could deadlift 721Ibs, the strongest pound for pound lifter today does 608Ibs. Bruce could hold a 90Ib barbell in front of him for over 30 seconds, he could pierce the old style coke cans with just one finger. He could do 1500 push ups without a rest, 400 one handed push ups and 100 thumb push ups. Having mastered fencing and Chah chah he could jump in and reverse jump out of any situation. Bruce was essentially a street fighter, he used his films to show at times what he had been through on the streets of Hong Kong. Having tested Bruce and Muhammad Ali , both fighters had the same punching strength. Bruce's punching strength actually came from his Lats which were abnormally large. With the use of his trans ab core and hips plus a slightly downward punching motion generated from his lats he could punch as hard as a heavyweight. He refused to fight professionally, and with that sort of twitch speed and strength he did any potential opponents a favour if you ask me.

    If you're trying to train like Bruce Lee, this is the way to go. If you just care about his speed it honestly comes down to two things: 1- Strength training so you're muscles have the power to move at higher speeds (a 5x5 weight routine should be good for this) and 2- Neurological speed. This is the part that makes him so capable of striking quickly. Believe it or not you could get this kind of speed by going on the computer, installing a program such as Aimlab or similar aim trainers and working on your aiming speed in games. This will over time increase the speed your brain reacts and thinks and when your mind thinks faster, it thinks faster overall. Even though you're reacting faster to a video game, you'll find that you walk faster, when you drive at a certain speed, it'll seem slower than it used to etc. All that's left after that is doing some punching and kicking practice just so your body gets used to striking at those faster speeds.

    Commenting six years later (& repeating what I've said on other videos), Lee's isometric program came straight from "Functional Isometric Contraction" written by Bob Hoffman of York Barbell in 1961. (The program was actually created by Dr. John Ziegler for Louis Reicke, a York Barbell lifter; it was one of three methods listed in the book.) Although they could be used for safety when benching or squatting, the power racks York was producing at the time (like the one Lee is using at 8:30) were meant mainly for isometrics. The device Lee is using at 8:41 is a homemade version of one that York produced, as well.

    Shoulders must be trained with care. I warm my shoulders for about 10 minutes with just rotating my arms in many directions. Barbell lifts are fine after this. Heavy bag work gives you good shoulders. A small waist helps a lot, too.

      Benjamin Dumbrell could you tell me which muscles that you mainly need to work out for boxers?

    • @kingnaka5334
      @kingnaka5334 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ben Salinas tha core, legs, shoulders. the core generates power and protection from body shots. the legs to keep footwork active for all rounds and generate power. the shoulders to keep hands up and keep throwing punches

    • @zaccedeno7138
      @zaccedeno7138 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ben Salinas and don't forget the back.. the back is where a lot of your body gathers power from.. best fighters have insanely powerful backs.. I would recommend pull ups.. 10 sets of 15 every day no less or you may develop more bulk. Less reps equals more bulk more reps equals more conditioned muscles... become a conditioned fighter not explosive unless you want to wear out fast

      @@bensalinas8804 Quids and hamstrings. Glutes. Core. Back. Shoulders.
      Quids and Hams can be worked with squats and deadlifts. Glutes with hip thrusts and glute bridges. There are great core exercises. Back with pull ups, rows and rack pulls. Shoulders with overhead press and delt raises.

    I’ve only just found your channel, and now I know why I like you. 🙏🏼 ☯️
    I was so obsessed by Bruce back in the day, I trained at one of only two JKD places in the U.K. (with Sifu Dave Carnell), had over 25 Bruce Lee books and met Linda Lee Cadwell (+husband ‘Bruce’, lol), Shannon Lee and got them to sign their books. 🥰
    Oh, and also met John Little (the only guy to have full access to Bruce’s entire library. (I bought his book and got him to sign it too. 😬)

    Beuce Lee really was a revolutionary in applying new exercises to be shown in the world. Of course he isn’t the founder of such exercises but his research and influence helped to stem a different outlook in fitness and physical therapy for exercises

      Bruce had the time. He was primarily part-time kung fu teacher, part-time TV actor. He got by. It looks like he would train about 2, to 2 and, an half hours a day. He ran every day. Lift weights every other day. Worked his abs every day. Practiced techniques, all the time. He'd have a morning workout. Then an afternoon run. Then he would have some kind of night training session. That's about 45 minutes each workout session. That's doable. if you're not working a regular job. If you have a regular job? 2 hours? No way. Maybe an hour tops... Per day. If you're serious. Bruce had the time and he used it well.
