That neighbor is so sweet to bring you water and fruit, and give you permission to hunt his property as well. What a nice guy - please give him hugs and thank you's from us!!
A ton of targets! That red fence, is a gate piece off a stake bed truck. Looks like Tonka by the casting. I would say it's off the 1958 Ford one ton duel wheel farm pick up truck in Ford blue with a black bed and red stake bed gates. Nope I'm not an expert on toy trucks but I had one of those. And I know every piece of it because I played with mine until the paint wore off. What a great place to detect! Such a variety of items in one yard. Thanks for sharing your videos with all of us! Beeps.
That was fun! FYI What you thought was a brooch is actually a hair barrette. It's probably from the 1970's to 1990's. That paticular design made clipping back hair easier than some other designs.
FANTASTIC vids . I just started hunting a few weeks ago cause of this channel ! I aint getting rich but sure is fun and a great way to forget about life for a while .
love the intro JD ...I been enjoying your videos for awhile now and have to let you know, I recently purchased a detector for my 9year old grandson and we have already been out a few times looking for treasures. Thanks for the incentive to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors! Keep the videos coming.
Hi JD The pendant with the sailing ship at 9:50 looks to me to be a late 1940's to early 50's Plymouth key chain. Plymouth always used a 3 masted sailing ship as their trademark, Great video, thanks.
I started watching metal detecting videos several years ago and learned a lot from them. I've never made a video but I know they must take a lot of time. My criticism is not directed just to you but almost all who post videos. No one shows the actual detecting any more. Just a dug hole in the ground with an object in it. From the older videos, I learned people's method of swinging the detector, sounds and VDI numbers for the finds, pin pointing methods, and how to dig a proper pug. Almost no one show these things in their videos now. You have a lot of nice finds.
Great video JD! You killed the coins today! at 25:44 that is either a pump organ reed, or an accordion reed. They are brass. There should be a musical note (like G#) on it somewhere.
J.D., that's a reed for a wind instrument. not sure which kind. I've found a dozen or so and they usually have that valve broken off like the one you found. Most likely parents couldn't stand the noise and made them play outside.
Really interesting video. I really enjoyed it. I think that red fence looking thing was part of a toy truck from maybe the ' 50's? Loved the sound of church bells in the background.Haven't heard that for many years
Gees, JD ~ Where have you been ? I followed your site for years; always getting inspired from your many great finds. Then I would get my gear together and would go detecting too. I started detecting here in Fla. in 1999. I'm now working my 4th detector. When I think back , my favorite show that kept me on the edge of my seat was when you detected a large old home and property where you dug the most profound collection of silver items and coins. There was a silver baby spoon with a carving of a bird on the handle that was quite valuable. Then the trade off with the home owner where you showed her the Morgan $1 coin find that you really wanted to keep. Then you gave her money for it. Somehow, I think she ended up with the coin and the money. But your genius negotiating that allowed you more time detecting that property in exchange was brilliantly calculated ! Got a kick out of the basketball maneuvers that you would fit into a few of your outings. Are you officially retired from detecting ? Miss you, buddy ~
Never found a wheat detecting. Hope to do a year's wrap up of most of my finds. 1978 is about 20 yrs away from when that car was made. Dates are usually when the design was 1st used. Wheels are the clue.
JD what do you do with the stuff you collect from these places? I'm just curious. A lot of you guys are metal detecting these days. If like to see someone do lake Ontario on our side in Canada. I couldn't because driving my power wheelchair into sand not a good idea. Lol
another good video JD, when you get your permissions does the owner ask what you found and ask to keep anything you find.I never tried metal detecting but watching your videos makes me want to start metal detecting.Do you have any videos for a person like me that is thinking about getting into this hobby something about how you go to a owner and ask for a permission and just what tools you need.
That was a first. Many people tell me I sound like Morty from Rick & Morty. And in the past when I had mega hair a few people told me I looked like JD from scrubs (how ironic) And many people within the last year started saying I sound like Tyler Joseph.
I think this kid found some 6 year olds Lemonade stand spot from the 60's. She's probably in her 60's now with no IRA maybe ya wanna try to find her she might need that money
Are you asking the owners of the property for permission? I feel like most people would be sketched out about someone digging around their property. Do most people tell you yes?
On TH-cam some people watch metal detecting videos just to try and find good sites where other people are successful. If I find a hot spot that I plan on going back to, I don't like to reveal my location until after I'm done. :)
I guess I am sort of disappointed not knowing the dates of the coins you found on this hunt, and many others you record. It's not to say I don't enjoy your videos, but maybe you could carry a spray bottle like the Hoover Boys to expose your finds. When I start hunting I will bring like a windex bottle.....it will shorten the time it takes to clean the find off. Keep up the hunting, you're good at what you do.
Now that was a metal detecting video! High impact plenty of diversity and one target after another. Well presented well narrated on the fly....this is why I am subbed to you and why I watch your channel ,,, well done.:¦:-applause-:¦:-applause-:¦:-applause-:¦:-applause-:¦:-applause-:¦:-°¤.¸.¤°´¯`¸
Hey jd im intrested in getting in to detecting an have a few places id like to detect with you if it is possible if you could get back with me thst would be gereat one place is very old a promising
That neighbor is so sweet to bring you water and fruit, and give you permission to hunt his property as well. What a nice guy - please give him hugs and thank you's from us!!
Wow that's really kind. Neighbors here in Ontario Canada would never do that. Y'all are more friendly in the U.S. 🇨🇦👊

I enjoy your detecting very much 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Awesome, as usual JD.
Looks promising for more. Thanks for sharing.
Thumbs up!!! Great Job.
Great video..Thanks..
Yep, Thomas is right! I recognized that find right away: back end of a toy truck.
Yep yep. I identified it when I do that wrap up for the trip. :)
Better than TV!

Thanks Jerry. I hope you guys can find some cool stuff! :)
LOVE YOU SHOW... WATCH EVER DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the content. I am doing some research before buying my first detector. Love watching the history come out of the ground! thanks

that is a great hunting site...nice finds JD
Great video JD! You killed the coins today!
at 25:44 that is either a pump organ reed, or an accordion reed. They are brass. There should be a musical note (like G#) on it somewhere.
Nick Haas Thank you. I have dug several of those and never knew what they were.
the ornate piece might be the handle of an old stove or other heating devise.
J.D., that's a reed for a wind instrument. not sure which kind. I've found a dozen or so and they usually have that valve broken off like the one you found. Most likely parents couldn't stand the noise and made them play outside.
Do you put back the dirt after you dig?
killin the wheaties!!!!
That wedge looking item if it was solid
May be a musket barrel wedge.....to hold the barrel in place on the stock
great hunt!
Good hunt Jon...
You stumbled upon a wheat field! Nice finds.
The wheat harvest is upon us and plentiful!
Really interesting video. I really enjoyed it. I think that red fence looking thing was part of a toy truck from maybe the ' 50's? Loved the sound of church bells in the background.Haven't heard that for many years

In the back that is a Barrett, not a broach
Seems like your analysis is more accurate. :)
Good job
That metal piece you found before the toy car is a reed for a accordion.
The carriage house you are referencing appears to be a carriage house that has had a upper floor added.
Nice hunt man, I was beginning to wonder if it was going to be all wheats, nice silver.
Nice road trip hunt. James Luke and myself have been thinking of heading up in your neck of the woods sometimes and do some door knocking. GL&HH.
the brooch is a hair clasp or barrette
JD your my cat....killin those targets bro keep swingin the silver will be ringin!! hope to start hunting here soon in NE OHIO!! GL & HH
I love the intro to this video. That is a nice permission you got there. GL&HH
me too!
ok John I have a question for ya what do you think about the 200 dollor range metal detectors
That fence looking thing. Is the back end of a toy steak bed truck. I use to have one when I was a kid. Are you getting rich yet?
Awesome video!
JD what do you do with the stuff you collect from these places? I'm just curious. A lot of you guys are metal detecting these days. If like to see someone do lake Ontario on our side in Canada. I couldn't because driving my power wheelchair into sand not a good idea. Lol
JD I'm looking to get a new detector. How is that T2 you've been swinging?
you should do a collection video of your favorite finds. then post one or two at end of videos
I wantthat little car! It was made the year I was born.😂👍😇 Yes I am old.
The Plymouth emblem is 40s 50s
Great hunt J.D.!! I'd love to hunt with you someday.
red metal fence from train set
another good video JD, when you get your permissions does the owner ask what you found and ask to keep anything you find.I never tried metal detecting but watching your videos makes me want to start metal detecting.Do you have any videos for a person like me that is thinking about getting into this hobby something about how you go to a owner and ask for a permission and just what tools you need.
Do you keep all the finds or sell some? I noticed you find a lot of wheat pennies.. do you keep them all? Curiosity 😜
That was a barrette
That fence could be from an Tonka Stake Truck. I have an extensive Tonka collection with 5 of those trucks. I have the rails for some but missed some.
it is a hair piece u would put in your hair i had one at one time when i was little in the 50's or so
The relic goes to a bedpost
What detector are you running today in this video?
Teknetics T2. :-)
Quick question. What's that small ground cutter your using called?
It's a Lesche hand digger. :)
pump organ reed??
@ 25:20 It looks like maybe part of a gun sight possibly. Just a hunch...I'm not sure.
Not sure but that one item in the back looks like a pump organ reed.
What pin pointer do u use and looking to buy a Garrett at pro worth the money
My favorite is the Nokta RS.
What detector does he use?
metal :D :D :D
@ 1:00 Looks like the tail-gate or side panel off a toy truck.
You look like reese from malcom in the middle.
That was a first. Many people tell me I sound like Morty from Rick & Morty. And in the past when I had mega hair a few people told me I looked like JD from scrubs (how ironic) And many people within the last year started saying I sound like Tyler Joseph.
when the valve broke, they just threw them in the grass.
i live in a 1900 flat built house you think i might have some good targets
Yes. ;-)
i dont have a metal detector though but maby i can find someone that does
Jon. You need to carry some foo foo juice to wash off your good targets.
It's a barrett
more plz
It is a hair clasp
That's a hair band
How are you feeling?
medal
I think this kid found some 6 year olds Lemonade stand spot from the 60's. She's probably in her 60's now with no IRA maybe ya wanna try to find her she might need that money
Hey, 1960's not old! ;^)
Lol ikr.
Are you asking the owners of the property for permission? I feel like most people would be sketched out about someone digging around their property. Do most people tell you yes?
I always ask first. If I had to throw out an estimate I get a yes about 60-65% of the time.
fukc ya. this is the vid i love seeing. 20+ min. reality of most digs. keep these up
why do you care if people know where you are? just curious! love your videos!

Thanks. I like when I hunt larger properties where I can take my time and put more effort into the filming. :)
hair clip
Hey jd im intrested in getting in to detecting an have a few places id like to detect with you if it is possible if you could get back with me thst would be gereat one place is very old a promising
I don't think thats a broach. I think it's just an old hair clip.
It is. I still use them.😎
