So glad you & Maggie ok. The bruising looks nasty!! Really interesting vlog, Evie. Red did so well outside, especially with the wind. Your join-up is amazing. He is so trusting of you, focusing on you & respecting your space. Looking forward to following your 'Red journey'. Well done to your Mum too, for her excellent camera work🎉
Loved watching his brain ticking over. When I introduce a roller/girth I always hold it and the straps and as for a backstep or side step gradually holding it tighter as I go but allows me to add the pressure without a full-on explosion and found it to work quite well and usually nothing when it's girthed up properly as they've had the chance to take it in with the pressure on . :)
That’s a good suggestion. It’s such a fine line between having it secure so if they explode it doesn’t fall off and scare them further and trying to avoid an explosion in the first place isn’t it! ❤️
Red is such a beautiful boy ❤ He will thrive under your kind care and education. Thank you for sharing a kind uplifting video to ease the sadness of the CdJ news.
So glad you and Maggie are fine after your fall. Am loving Red and how he is taking to learning all these new experiences. He has lovely paces and such a kind eye. Am looking forward to his next video. Hugs to you and Maggie ❤🤗
I love his curiosity about things, he seems engaged and interested in what's going on and not getting overwhelmed by the new stuff. Agree with the other comment that watching this video today has been uplifting with all that is going on in horse sport just now.
He shows so much promise. You have a very good method for working him through this learning process. You’re going to end up with one heck of a n event horse.
I think the same. It's reassuring to know that there are equestrians who train the right way. I am still stunned & shocked, I suppose, like everyone else. Evie, you are such a joy to watch❤
Hi both, I addmeryou for doing WHAT YOU do, as when I used to help train young horses. It would take about month's or so , Good luck with all you do. Take care and all the best with your eventing season. 😊😊👍👍👍👍💟💖
You are so very good with your horses! Love these training videos! I used to event and now I drive miniature horses in combined driving but the same concepts, love your training videos!! Red looks like he is going to be a fun athletic partner! Not sure it is called flapping, but desensitizing for sure!
Hi Evie Reds coming on nicely he’s smart. Sorry about your fall I only use utube not into all the other stuff it’s too many plus hacks etc so I guess I’ll never know how you fell with Maggie. Anyway your doing a great job teaching Red his manners .tfs🤗🏇🤗
Thank you very much. We had a fall on the flat, 3 fences from home which wasn’t our fault. Both skidded into a tree which ripped Maggie’s saddle off. I was knocked out and had broken my big toe in 3 places and dislocated another toe and badly sprained the ankle. Maggie was ok other than some grazes and looking at the video of the accident we were very lucky to come away with just those injuries. Maggie is absolutely fine now. She’s had 2 vet checks and a physio appointment and is very happy in herself. I am improving and able to ride but I can’t really walk at the moment due to the sprained ankle but getting better every day. X
@@ELSEventing Yikes! That sounds pretty horrible and horryfing and so I'm all the more glad that Maggie is fine and you're getting there. Red is certainly doing super well. Such a clever, inquisitive boy with ALL the moves!
I love these! So much admiring Red also: great brain, temperament, and lush paces ❤
(That series title idea message on Insta was me btw 🥰)
Ah your clever, title!! I’ll pin your comment. Thank you for the suggestion 🤩
@@ELSEventingnice hindquarters 😊

@@ELSEventing Got to say he is a stunner. He will go far.

A terrible few days for the sport but it’s also important to remember that not everyone is the same ❤️

Very interesting.

Glad you like them! 💚
The cowboy term for desensitization is "sacking out". I'm assuming in the old days, they'd use an empty burlap feed sack.
Ah yes I think this is the phrase I was thinking of!! ❤️
Came here to say this 😁!
It is very useful so thank you
Great job!
Thank you! ❤️
Us Americans usually call it Bomb proofing. 😊
I'm in America and I've heard the desensitization of a horse called "Bombproofing"..
That sounds like a very logical term for it! X
They do use the term “unflappable” in regards to a bombproof horse but I’ve never heard of flapping
I think that the word that you’re looking for is “sacking out,” as another commenter mentioned. That’s what the Cowboys call it.
In America we call it De-sensitizing
