This film was recorded and produced by Michael Fortune in October 2011 with a group of people from the Travelling Community in Bunclody, Co. Wexford. This is one of twenty songs Michael recorded with singers as part of project he undertook in the town in 2010/2011 which explored Traveller folklore, customs, beliefs and language. Most of the singers in this collection are from Bunclody and Enniscorthy and were recorded one evening at an informal singing session which Michael organised in the FDYS building in Bunclody. The project was supported as part of Wexford County Council’s ‘Arts Departments, CWCAN Programme.
The project was officially launched in the Mill Race Hotel in Bunclody in December 2011 and a website was designed by Michael which housed all of these recordings plus the complete folklore collection. The website was entitled www.wexfordtravellerculture.com - however it is not live anymore. Local press covered the launch which featured more stories and songs.
