Those young lads do their families proud! Not one was sat sniggering, laughing, on their phones, looking out the window...they were listening to the Grandmother and Grandfather with full attention and respect. Fantastic boys. Very rare in this day and age. God bless the boys and their families.

This is brilliant... This isn't just Traveller history, this is all out history and shared culture. This is how we help to breakdown prejudice and discrimination, by learning to see 'others' as people. Please do more. Thank you for making this.

I could listen to grandma all day.£30 a day that was a lot of money back then.it was a lot easier on the men, ladies had to care for the children, wash the clothes, make food.all this in horse cart, hard hard times no doubt.remember my late mother, about a family of gypsy ,that was staying on the side of road,my father was a child,he had some muscular problems,he had fallen into a pond,he could not get back up,the gypsy family had heard him shouting, they managed to save him.from there on they were allowed to park their cart in their small field at the back of the cottage, they would come round every year or two, they became good friends.any gypsy would be welcomed to stay in our paddock any time, they get hounded no matter where they go.I live in small village in west wales.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

When the son started singing near the end, I thought it was his Father's voice! I loved the model wagons, with the photos of Mum and Dad as young people. I hope the boys have a chance to get on, it's not easy being young lads when it's hard to get work. I could listen to Grandma for hours, I'm glad she has a warm home in her old age and the family around. I used to do farm work in the 70's, some Traveller women used to work there too, as well as local women and teenagers. Picking fruit and spuds. That sort of work is gone now, it's people brought in by agencies, often from Eastern Europe - can't just turn up . I've always lived near Travellers, as a kid, then later next to a permanent site in London and now back in Essex. It's not an easy life, and it's sad the old ways have had to go for many. Keep your history and stories from the older ones, it's your roots. Great film, they're a nice bunch of lads, remind me of my nephews. Good luck.

Old generation traveller's would put some of the new generation to shame. All they do is spend their time making stupid WhatsApp videos arguing and fighting with each other... Loyalty has turned into jealousy unfortunately sad times.

      Yes it is fine.
But no child should be rared by the side of the road. Once travellers have children they should provide the stability and security of a warm house.

Very heavy accent they say faddur for father hard to understand, must be because they don’t attend many years of school ? I wonder if more of the young couples would be able to have good paying jobs with a high school or college diploma ? Or would racism still happen if they were educated ?As we see with Dr.s who come from other countries to work in England or Ireland ? The Drs from India are have much better English sadly if only the mother’s & grandmothers would understand how important education is, for self esteem as well.

Travellers and British and Irish gypsies have been on these islands for hundreds and hundreds of years yet they receive more racial abuse than any Muslims blacks and obviously natives but the things the Muslims say about them saying their invaders but when I tell them they have been here longer than Muslims and it's other cultures doing the invading. My dad's family are Cornish gypsies and a lot of amazing Irish travellers I work with a lot. They'll tell you to your face any issues none of this soft political correctness crap.i do have issues with Romanian gypsies and slavakian as everyone I know has had something stolen and we've all had a huge influx of eastern European gypsies who are constantly beating 7p younger English white kids the job centre is 90% them to their awful yet gypsies and travellers get tared with the same brush sadly
