Thanks for the reaction :) Since you asked what the song is about: it's a tribute to their previous bass player, who suddenly died in 2009. When they formed the band, it was their dream to one day play in the Nippon Budokan, which they finally archived with this performance.
I didn’t see anyone write, but this performance took place in an arena where artists are invited, and they must prove that they are “worthy of performing there.” Therefore, at the very beginning, everyone took turns demonstrating their abilities in solo. And only then does the composition itself begin with singer. And so - Versailles is one huge love of mine. ❤ You need to feel them, imagine yourself as a sad old vampire in one of the anime, and waste your days listening to music) maybe their faces are emotionless, masked, but they all speak through their instruments. And this is enough to understand, love and share their feelings with them.🤟
Thanks for checking out Versailles (it's Ver-sigh, as in the old French royal palace). I came across these guys about 12 years ago, they were instantly my favorite band ever. Everyone talkes about Midori/Miyako, but Hizaki and Teru are every bit a top guitar duo as you'll find. Their goal is "aesthetically beautiful metal music," If you get into the neo-classical metal genre, this band is for you. "Faith and Decision" os a bit hard to digest and get a sense of their overall musical style if it's your first listen to them. I highly recommend, "Ascendead Master," "Aristocrat's Symphony," "The Red-Carpet Day," "Rose" "Suzerain."
It's pronnounced Ver-sigh, as in the place in France. Lead singer is Kamijo. His character is a vampire. And yes, his voice is spell-binding. Check out their song The Aristocrats' Symphony.
Look my friend, please don't take this first impressions of Versailles as the whole Versailles experience....I say this because people usually recommend Holly Grail songs, I have listened to all their albums, so I'm going to recommend other perspectives: -Love from a dead orchestra [Lyrical Sympathy] -God Palace [Jubilee] -Zombie [Noble] -Rose [Versailles] -Lineage [Lineage] -Wrath of Thunder [Vogue] •New release 2023•
Versailles has been one of my favourite bands for over a decade and it makes me so happy to see new people loving their music. They just released a new single a few months ago that you should also check out!
i also really love your reaction, because you’re not just hearing, you’re listening. i was really excited when you caught onto the feeling of longing when kamijo started singing!! this was a great video!
This is why i wtach all your videos. All that you bring us have value. Its nice to listen and see diferent metal stuff. I wish we could understand what he was singing. I agree with you, his voice is very calming- Keep it up bro.
Well this was very grand. It's not necessarily something I would listen to on a normal basis, but these musicians are very good at what they do. I'm excited about my reaction this month,I can't wait til it's my turn. I hope your weekend is going good brother.
I am not sure if you translated the lyrics and realised the fact, that this is practically a mourning song. However, the reaction clearly confirmed another fact that songs like this are literally magical - it means, even we do not understand the lyrics, but the music sends a subconscious message, and we receive it. It wakes up something we cannot define but it is there... this is the greatest achievement of masterpieces like this. I wrote it was a mourning song - indeed, it is, but a kind which tells you do not be devastated by the loss, but celebrate the life of the loved one. Greetings, I.
when i first heard this song it made me feel so sad on the inside. when i discovered the meaning of the song it made so much more sense. truly one of versailles most beautiful tunes!!!
I liked it! I was getting Castlevania or Captain Harlock vibes, very cool! I'm not going to suggest them on Patreon, but if you've never heard Dir En Grey they are pretty badass. Songs I like (with videos) Lotus, The Final, and Uroko (really shows singer Kyo's sick range!). Just a warning though, I've got a pretty ironclad stomach, but some of their other videos made me feel like throwing up a lil. lol 🤘🤘
Yeah you got to give them a chance! I know it could feel uncomfortable at first but they have good stuff to offer. Maybe masquerade live next? Hope you do at least a couple of songs of them!
This was awesome! Gave me a Unlucky Morpheus x Storm Seeker vibe. Sucks for me that I haven't been able to keep up with the channel lately because of being exhausted by my heart failure. The nasty is that my ICD (implanted cardiac defibrillator) fired twice last night, so I had to be hospitalized yet again.
Great reaction. :) If you like it maybe you will liie another symphonic metal band 摩天楼オペラ (Matenrou Opera), there is amazing live performance of their song "喝采と激情のグロリア" (Kassai to Gekijou no Gloria) from their 16th anniversary live from this year, amazing performance. I hope you will react to it. :) And also to Girugämesh which I recommended some time ago. ;)
Oh, I missed your reation to these guys. Visual Kei is very strange to a westerner and Versailles can be a tad too much over the top, but it really is great hooks and melodies performed with expert musicianship. Please check out some of their other stuff, it is great symphonic metal. 😀
Wow, that was a lot to digest. Technically superb but a little much, perhaps tho that is what they were going for. The vocals however kicked it up a notch. I have no idea what they were saying, but it sounded like longing and sadness. Not something that would go on my playlist, but good to see once. ❤ and ✌️
Versailles is another amazing Japanese metal band but it could be that westerners don’t appreciate this kind of performance because, in my honest opinion, the majority of them are so closed minded. East Europe, Asia and Latinamerica people are more open minded.
The musicality was awesome. Everyone knew their job. Almost too well, as a matter of fact. There was a kind of mechanical aura to the actual performance. I found myself wishing that they would just feel the music a bit more. I did like the vocalist, and felt that the performance improved when he began to sing. I dithered around looking them up and it says that they are a visual kei band. I didn't know what that was, so I look it up, and I still don't understand it. All in all, I don't feel like listening to them was a waste of my time, but I won't be listening on a regular basis.
I think Visual Kei really started out as Glam Rock like New York Dolls or early Poison, Cinderella etc , but over the years artists have really pushed the boundaries of what the genre can be. Going really heavy like Deviloof for example or epic like this song. 😊
Well, I'd have to respectfully disagree--massively. I've been playing guitar and writing music (well trying at least) for 30 years and I've never heard as much emotion go into guitar playing as much as I've heard with Hizaki, at least not with Neo-Classical shredders, and especially with his solo albums. Visual kei is just "visual style" which is adding a theatrical visual element to the performance. Versailles' theme is 'aristocratic vampires at the court of Versailles'--think Le Chevalier D'Eon, if you've seen that anime, and the music/theme will make more sense. Seriously, I highly recommend Versailles if you like Neo-classical metal or similar--they are at the top of the pack and highly influential in Japan and Latin America. "Ascendead Master," "Aristocrat's Symphony," "Rose." Hizaki solo: "Race Wish," "Rosary Sonata," "Grace and Dignity." He's done some live shows with Jill from Unlucky Morpheus.
I agree, sometimes less is more. I mean awesome solos don't get me wrong, but i feel it's packing in as many notes as they can in a solo.. i marvel at the talent but my ears can't take it. When the vocals started tho, i think it lifted the song up tremendously.
Thanks for the reaction :)

That makes so much sense. I felt so moved and sad by his singing.
How is even the Backstory to this song gonna be so good 😭
@@TheWolffAndTheMelodyAt the end of the song around minute 14:00 when it gets more emotional you can notice Kamijo and Hizaki crying.

It is a farewell song for his former bassist who passed away. Versailles is epic in every way. I recommend Masquerade live version. greetings Tommy
Hell yea! Thanks for the info and helping me understand. This song felt sad. I could tell.

Awesome band ! Great to meet them here ❤
This was amazing dude!
when i first heard this song it made me feel so sad on the inside. when i discovered the meaning of the song it made so much more sense. truly one of versailles most beautiful tunes!!!
Yea, I didn't learn about the meaning till afterwards. We are on the same page.
their name is pronounced like verse eye. Great reaction the thing about music is that it's a language all it's own.
great band, underrated maybe for the visual kei.
I liked it! I was getting Castlevania or Captain Harlock vibes, very cool!

The costumes were a bit over-the-top, but maybe that is the point. You have to admire the Japanese culture of constantly pursuing perfection.
Well said on the pursuit! This was a great song.

Dude so I found out this song is a homage to their bass player who passed away. Bro we were in tune.
there is another great song called angel of salvation i hope you could do a reaction to that one too
Except that Angel of Salvation is by Galneryus featuring the amazing Syu.
@@nightwishlover8913 yes sir your correct
Haven't seen your reaction to the end from now, but wondering if you realise that all of the members of the band are male? Many of westerners aren't😅
OH! lol did not know that.
