The thorough concept of Versailles embodies the Gothic atmosphere of medieval Europe that resides in the imagination of the Japanese. While not authentic, it certainly represents a kind of fantastical Europe that permeates Japanese culture. It undeniably possesses a consistent element, and this band beautifully embodies that aspect.
Some people don't like Kamijo's voice (Alucard) the first time they hear this band. I was one of them back in 2015, but I really loved the work of Hizaki and Teru. "Sadly" the only other way I could listen to them where by listening to their other band called Jupiter. But they do not have the discography of Versailles, so I got back to Versailles a few times and all of a sudden I started to love Kamijo's voice. And now Versailles is my favorite band. As you already done one of their masterpieces (this song, and it was written to preserve the memory of their first bassist that passed away after their first album was recorded, R. I. P Yasmine You). I think I will recommend you to checkout Versailles - Masquerade, high quality live versions are always the best way to experience this band.
Versailles is a Japanese "visual kei" symphonic power metal band -these guys are all amazing with each dressing in character - I kind of think of them somewhat of being like a Kiss, Twisted Sister or Alice Cooper with the visuals
Yes. Mind blown, amazed, disoriented, unable to find the words awe was the correct response. Especially if you dive deeper to find out the meaning and story that inspired the song. It's a tribute dedicated to their original bass player that passed away from a sudden illness. They've been known to break down sobbing on stage in the middle of playing it.
