Jan I love your wonderful positive outlook. Thank you for being a brite star . No snow here in the South of Minnesota but its coming soon I think. Going to California for Thanksgiving. Will continue watching you vlogs while I'm gone. Sending you a warm hug for good measure. Tom in Minneapolis.
Hi Jan. So glad the snow waited till after you finished the liquid manure. What a spectacular summer you had with great crops and putting up over 5000 bales. You deserved a break this you’re after all the dry ones. Happy to see a family farm doing well. 😊I’m always amazed by how hard you and your family work.
Jan I love how you guys can not seem to let a little snow bother you here in Ohio a 1inch snow fall sends the tv weather people into a total melt down its like get milk get bread make sure you have batteries stay safe my friend
A bit of history (from 100 years ago or more) (I am 80 years old) My mom used to describe why there was an outside door in second story of their home in Windthorst Sask. the snow got that deep. She also explained why there was a rope strung between the house and the barn. That is so you did not lose your way in a blizzard. After all, the cows still needed to be milked and fed. No Kidding. By the way, the Glover Brothers Hardware store still exists in Windthorst.
I am so sorry you have to endure that cold, I just came in from the backyard with a fire pit going about 72°. Clear skies, beautiful moon. Flip-flops, etc. Love y’all from Florida.
When you spin out on the ice do you ever try using the individual brakes to try to transfer some of the power to the wheel that is getting traction? Brake on the wheel that is spinning.
Hi there Jan, great video once again keep the videos coming. And in one of the near future (this winter) showing emptying your boots full of snow if they are full.
My wife loves the snow. We live in the Carolinas, which is where she was raised. I'm from Missouri and lived on a beef and dairy farm. I tell her the only people who love snow never had to feed cows in the snow.
We had just had snow here in the UK. It then froze so I had to chip the solid ice off the car. However, yesterday back up to 14C with rain, so now we have flooding instead. Why don't you have a snow plough attachment?
Snow in winter becomes melt water in the spring - when you need it the most. Also provides an insulating blanket to fall sown crops, winter wheat, etc.
As you release this today, a new & even bigger snowstorm has just hit your farm. I guess we will see the results of this new storm in a couple days. Winter came in sudden & hard. Watching from Calgary. It was +9C last Sunday, with zero snow. Since Monday snow almost everyday, with 20+cm in the past 48 hours. And -10C max ever since last Monday, with much colder this coming week ahead- down to -20C. Canadian praire winter. Won't see the ground now until April or May.
Yes, the storm that hit on Nov 23-24 was between 30-40 cm ( 11-16 inches) in Saskatoon (about 33 min from where Jan lives). Everyone is just hunkering down until streets are plowed. The joys of living in Saskatchewan.
I often wondered why you don’t have more 4 wheel drive tractors for the feed wagon and bale buster since you have lots of snow and mud to deal with, also did you ever think about getting plow for the front of the wheel loader maybe you could plow twice as much and be done in half the time
Hello Jan, here in Indiana 🇺🇸 we did have snow but all gone within two days after it snowed. Wow that is a lot of snow wow. I’m really not fond of snow either.
Great video Jan I hope you have a safe ❄️, I am not looking forward to seeing snow on the ground here western Idaho USA. Had over an inch of rain in the last four days.
Hi Jan. Yup, you got SLAMMED out there. We will see "some" snow this week in Montreal, but not gang busters snow just yet. It's a good thing you do your own snow clearing operations, here, there is always a possibility that the snow plow drivers will go on strike as the first snow storm hits to demand more money and put Montreal in a bind !!! That's what happens when you have to hire out for snow plows !!
Doesn’t winter make everything a little more fun? Snow is one thing but the wind just takes it to a whole new level. You just everything cleaned up in time to start all over again.
Just keep telling yourself that this is good moisture for the fields and water wells. If you say it 100’s of times you might actually believe that dealing with it is worth it!!
All that snow is just un-relatable for me. The coldest temperature I ever experienced, living in Australia for 63 years, was -6C. In the 45 years I lived in Melbourne it snowed once. I was in a windowless computer room all day that day, and missed it. Now I live in Indonesia. The coldest temperature I have experienced here is 19.5C. It normally ranges between 24C and 34C. But the humidity sucks. The average for this month has been 95%. That pushes the "Feels like" temperature into the low 50s. Standard dress year round is shorts and T shirt. When going out, I put on my formal sandals. You get snow. We get rain. My gauge has measured over 3700mm so far this year. So I am fascinated by all the snow, and how you handle it. I am sure I wouldn't survive more than a few days there, as there are things you do to cope, and take for granted, that would get me killed through ignorance.
Not bad when they only have to push through it a few yards to get to the feed bunks. Much easier than in free-roaming cattle, where they have to push through snowdrifts like that to try to find feed.
I'm so sorry that you got some snow but really that isn't that much and complaining about doesn't help. Why don't you park your feeder in the barn, keeps snow out and also no ice to try to get started!
Love the clip of you not even bothering to pretend to stop at that stop sign.
Right 😂😂😂😂oh I didn't see it lol 😂😂

Winter driving rules mean that STOP signs mean slow down at most.
@@peggyt1243 When it dark turn headlights off and if you don't see lights coming hammer down.
Stop signs. The first one and the second by the plow.

Yes putting that Versatile tractor on the feed wagon is the way to go.
Nice … to see you’re uploading videos frequently… always enjoy your videos… Cheers
Imagine Jan keeping you warm in the winter.

Winter wonderland in western Canada! Another great video!!

My friend, Wonderful landscape for those of us who have summer 365 days a year✌🎄
Another great video! Keep them coming please they always make my day
It's amazing their winter coats are so thick the snow accumulates on their backs rather than melts.
Yep, that's how you know just by looking that the cow is staying warm enough and the "insulation" is doing it's job.

I grew up in Wisconsin winters. To me snow is a dirty four letter word.
I have lived 77 of my 78 years in Ontario. Try feeding horses in the snow. Our horses were outside year round EXCEPT for freezing rain storms.
Hey Jan, just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos - great work, appreciated - have a nice day :)
You really need bucket clip on snow ears for that case loader. Love the videos
Right through a four way stop, don't want to get stuck there 🤣. Also being dark, easy to see other vehicle lights coming 👍👍

Happy intro to winter snow. Our is coming on Thanksgiving Day here in NW Pennsylvania.

we had to feed in 4 ft of snow last week, brought out the drafts and the sled, we put chains on the front loader good times
Nice "Stop" at the sign. Mr. Safety
good job!...We heard you guys got tons of snow!
It is why AZ looks so good in November.
Such an awesome site to see your new cab bar and closed prior to the snow😊
I can't wait for the snow to come to me I got my 1982 four-wheel drive F F-250 Bring It On
The sound of the loader door at 10.02
same as an old cat !
thank for another good video !
I saw someone use the manure spreader to do bedding. Worked good.
Great video brother from the imperial county ca 🇺🇲
Hi Jan, does the difflock not work on feeder tractor? It would help in slippery situations
Hello Jan, here in Indiana 🇺🇸 we did have snow but all gone within two days after it snowed.
Wow that is a lot of snow wow.
I’m really not fond of snow either.
Nice stop at the stop sign 😮😮
In snow, always stoptional.
It had a white boarder....those are optional
Good thing you finished manure
Love how u talk about -5 is nice my old bones could not handle it . got to give it to people up north
+5 no snow in central Ontario. It works for us.
Can you add snow chains to the tractor tires? We add them to help improve traction in the mountains near me.
Great video Jan I hope you have a safe ❄️, I am not looking forward to seeing snow on the ground here western Idaho USA. Had over an inch of rain in the last four days.
Sure must be a nice feeling to have the field work done.😊
Nice it isn’t too cold yet. Still I don’t miss the Midwest USA where I grew up as far as snow and winter weather.
No snow here in Ontario-yet. Hope we have a beautiful white Christmas…then it can go
Jan, how do you avoid hoof problems with the animals in the corrals standing in mud constantly?
I was gonna say get some tires chains for the magnum but that would be hard on the cement in the barns
You can get chains that don’t have spikes on them
I would guess tire chains for the feed tractor is bad idea on indoor cement?
“Pretty much tropical “. Beautiful 😅
0:58 That Stop 🛑 Sign is just a suggestion.
🤣
many stop signs are ignored in some remote locations,if your vehicle is moving you dont get stuck.
Right? Forget the content, we need to collectively yell at him!
5 am small town....just blows through the stop sign 😅
Was that a " Farmers Stop " ??? 😊😊😅😮
+6c with rain and high winds in Nova Scotia.
Is there no diff lock on the feed wagon tractor? If so it wasn't working. Cheers from New Brunswick
Not stopping at stop signs, I guess it works until it doesn’t. But then it’s too late.
Hey Jan just wondering you guys get a new tandem with that Mack sitting there next to the scale

Me thinking at the 2 minute mark "oh poor guy he's doing it all by hand...." and then the loader showed up 🤣
Missed a couple stops signs there bud...hahaha
Good video.
Nice milktruck!

Stop = slight tap on pedal. Well Done. 🙃
Do you have tire chains? No traction with that tractor happens every year!
Your sisters are so beautiful.
Blowing through stop signs savage 😂
You know that you can send it to the US for Christmas I would love to have a white Christmas this year
How does this affect the manure pond?
thought i heard a cow yelling shut the door your letting the heat out
So funny
I'm reminded of an old Christmas card depicting Mary saying, "Jesus Christ, shut that door. Where were you born? In a barn?"
@@kevinwalsh1619 omg so funny

LOL 🤣 of course it's worth it, why else would we do it? 🤦

Hey you just blew right threw that stop sign……😮
Isn't snow the moisture yoju need for the crops?
It sure is! It can wait till march to fall thought 😂
I wish i had ur loader to clear out my parking lot. 1-2 feet around every car with several blocking the lane, stuck!
Way to blow the Stop sign.
Jan did you just smoke that stop sign.
Stop sign. What stop sign?
snow man time jan
How long does it take you to get to work in the morning?
Under normal conditions, about 5 minutes. He's only around 5 km away.
We got it all yesterday moved on to sask lol
Hmmmm, never realized that stop signs were meant merely as suggestions in Canada! :)
In a small village at 5:00 am with a foot of snow, definitely! 😁
FYI- stop sign there by your house, buddy😅
When the driver pick up the milk and they come from different farms does the milk get mixed or do they keep it separated?
Yep. A sample is taken from every farm. If their milk is found to contaminate other milk, they will be fined for it.
Does that white ring make stopping optional? It seems like it is like around me.

My dad says to put chains on your tractors so they don't get stuck. My dad has chains for his tractors, and he never got stuck with them on.
Chains are great outdoors but I think they'd be a little hard on the cement in the barns as they take the feed in.
A set of chains would be great for the feed tractor
Good think he stopped at that stop sign
Wow
Blessings
Why don't you use the bueller versatile tractor with 4x4 in the winter?
Must be difficult with the animals while there is heavy snow!
Not bad when they only have to push through it a few yards to get to the feed bunks. Much easier than in free-roaming cattle, where they have to push through snowdrifts like that to try to find feed.
Um, I'm in Alabama..... that's cold....😂
Um, I’m jealous right now 😂
November was awfully short this year eh
Great Video!
You blow the stop sign luckie no police.
👍
You passed a stop sign
Samma väder som här i Serige 🌨🌧🌬🌧🌨
I'm so sorry that you got some snow but really that isn't that much and complaining about doesn't help. Why don't you park your feeder in the barn, keeps snow out and also no ice to try to get started!
Farmers bin complainin bout the weather since the beginin of farmin, haha it just what we do 😂 I understand though
Yaeh we had snow in Ireland
