Love the ' shake the crap" thing. We haven't gotten any snow down here in Erie, Pa yet and I am not looking forward to it. Sucks that the sand is freezing onto the box of the truck. The calf room extension looks great. Great video, thanks.
Also much easier (warmer) to feed & attend to the calves compared to outside in hutches. They get more attention and have other calves nearby to keep them company.
Another job well done. The only downfall of all the bales this year, it pushed your other must do tasks a little later than you would have probably liked.
Brrrrr! I find it hard to work in the cold. Worst problem is going back in when it feels like a bazillion degrees indoors. All that sand frozen to the truck bed was so depressing. Am sure you’ll find a solution. Really enjoy the videos!
I hope you got the message on the last video. About cleaning out your feed bunks. Ouclyde, you can get a string trimmer and put a wire broom attachment. Is used to clean sidewalks and gutters. And so forth. I believe it would do a good job. Cleaning out those bumps instead of using the shovel.
Great to see you raced Mother Nature successfully to get manure pit emptied, sand room half filled and calf barn expansion closed in. Seems you were racing those last couple days before snow/low temps clamped down on your farm.
Jan , just a thought what about having a hay conveyor set up and unload on to conveyor . By making a hole in roof if possible and make a door to seal hole. Just a thought never got to see the whole barn where you store sand . Wow it’s so nice seeing the parlor for baby calves almost all done need the inside to complete it cool.
If you can get some liquid calcium chloride and put it in a weed sprayer and coat the box it will keep material from sticking. Our supplier that delivers rock and sand to a ready mix company uses it all the time when it's cold. Try it
Seems to me that the bobcat could keep up moving sand with just 1 truck running. Then the loader could come up every 6 or 8 loads to stack it higher but I’m an armchair/retired farmer. 😊. Keep up the good work and Thanks for the videos. You guys have a great operation !!
A vibrator in those boxes is a wast in those conditions. Speaking from years of being in the business of excavating up in the Dakotas. It’s still going to freeze up with that wet sand.
SO GLAD to see that the calf rooms are enclosed and sealed. How many were you expanding in total, two ? You have more than two calf rooms. Just curious. I was going to ask about the progress on them with your video yesterday but it slipped my mind. So glad to see them done to this point.
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream Make him the cutest that I've ever seen Give him the word that I'm not a rover Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over
I heard some contractors are using salt mix to prevent dirt from freezing to the box. Also some trucks run exhaust fumes through the box frame to heat it but it rusts out the box.
Enjoy your videos and happy holidays just out of curiosity why do you not use the manure spreader and take the beaters off so you can back in the sand room instead of putting it outside the door seems like that would be a lot less hard on a truck but I'm just asking a question as always keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep watching liking I'm asking questions
hi, to remedy the froze in box problem you need a bag of calcium chloride, its the same stuff they use to keep the dust down on dirt roads once upon a time, anyway, get a bag of it, not hard to find, take 2 or 3 large tims cups and mix with 5 gallons of water, then fill 2 window washer jugs with the concoction cut a few squirt holes in the jug lids and spray the box, and walls you don't need to leave puddles just make sure to soak all the steel. loader bucket also when moving manure and such, manure spreader too, no more problem. you are welcome. but not when moving food. You can also use it in the summer to prevent build up cuz it is supremely slippery.
Question for Yun , you said the sand is not good for growing crops, but when y'all take the liquid manure and put it in the fields for growing crops , the liquid manure is loaded with sand. Are y'all concerned that the sand might cause issues long term for growing crops?
The liquid manure isn’t loaded with sand, it’s less than 1% of the volume. If it was higher then absolutely but since it’s such a little amount it’s inconsequential
Try a mix of used antifreeze and diesel fuel in the bed of the truck. We tried it here in western New York when it got near freezing. It worked until we had to much build up
See how much time it takes to scrape the sand off every trip with a shovel. Never let it build up... Might be a push in slowing down the process but maybe not...
Someone should make a seperator/cleaner for manure with sand just like they have for manure with straw, that way the sand can be recycled into bedding and just the nutritious manure be spread out on the fields. A sinking tub with somesort of moving device that scrapes sand out from the bottom and put it thru some sort of steam steriliser🤨🤷 I'm pretty sure the leftovers from straw/sawdust manure gets heated enough thru the seperating prosess that it can be used as bedding without any more processing
Why don't you use separated manure as bedding material? There is enough liquid manure to run a separator. Advantage: No extra wear and tear on your manure pumps, machines, etc. due to the sand, you don't have to haul sand from the pit to the barn as often, separated manure is as comfortable for the cows as sand and much more. In my opinion the investment in a separator speaks for itselves. 😅
Yan, could you use a small snow blower to clean the feed bunks out?? Just a thought from Kansas, we don't get that much snow down here. 😁🇺🇲
Good morning! Everything is looking great on the farm!
Crazy how much sand is in that box. Calf rooms look great.
Keep making videos. I used to work on a dairy. Don't miss it a bit. Especially in the winter. You have a really nice dairy there.

Did enjoy. That calf barn is looking real good. For sure going to come in handy.
11:00 Jan’s Fan Club! The groupies have been watching all day 😂
I really like the calf barn. Beats the hell out of calf hutches
You can say that again!!!
Also much easier (warmer) to feed & attend to the calves compared to outside in hutches. They get more attention and have other calves nearby to keep them company.
Great video. thank you and hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving
Another job well done. The only downfall of all the bales this year, it pushed your other must do tasks a little later than you would have probably liked.
Love the everyday video's.
Ok Jan ask Santa for a mini excavator to help clear the dump body. Must have other work for one. 😄👍👍
Love the videos..keep them coming!
Keep warm as you can. ❤❤❤❤❤
Good video.
The calf barn is coming along nicely Jan
Thanks Jan for the update👍
You guys have the nicest calve rooms I’ve ever seen. Great for the little ones.
Brrrrr! I find it hard to work in the cold. Worst problem is going back in when it feels like a bazillion degrees indoors. All that sand frozen to the truck bed was so depressing. Am sure you’ll find a solution. Really enjoy the videos!
Calves room is coming along fast now. Stay warm ❤️🙏🏼☕️
Great video , working hard , stay safe , do enjoy ! Memories!
Thanks for the update on the calf barn. I was wondering how much work had been completed.
Great videos 😊😊

Love seeing the calf barn

Great progress in the calf rooms. And yes, that build up is hard to battle.
Good show. They say snow is coming to us this week. My daughter got about 8" last week in the mountains.

Thanks for the video
Essa abertura estava fazendo falta! Parabéns! Um abraço desde a Picetti’s farm no sul do Brasil

good job!
❤❤❤❤❤
Great video brother from the imperial county ca 🇺🇲🇺🇲🥶🥶🥶🥶
nice vid, as always
A vibrator in those boxes is a wast in those conditions. Speaking from years of being in the business of excavating up in the Dakotas. It’s still going to freeze up with that wet sand.
Great new intro!
It's not new. He just hasn't been including it for a long time.

It should be a rule of thumb to ck all fluids be for starting any piece of equipment regardless if it's working one hr or all day running !!
Get an old magnum or deere FWA for the mixer. Or even a white or Ford, lots of cheap HP around
A nice box blade on that loader would make snow moving a lot more fun
good intro and perfect length
Nice to see your intro again👍🏻
You should take an ice chipper to the sides of it to make it easier for the heat to get to the sand.
Good morning
Mornin
Great video demonstrating why Florida is so popular for Canadians! 20°c here today! Love the videos as always Jan.
Love the new intro.
The new old intro! Perfect
You are forever hauling! Your job description is a book!
Mooi filmpje weer💪👍
Stay excellent!
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make him the cutest that I've ever seen
Give him the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over
Buh, buh, buh 😉
Yes, the old intro🤟🏻
One of the best video content and personality on the whole internet!! And, ha ha, that watching a whole lot of manure!!
Hey Jan, het gaat beter als je de zwaartekracht gebruikt om het zand van bovenaf los te maken. 👍
would you consider putting a snow fence on the north side of your sand pit?
I heard some contractors are using salt mix to prevent dirt from freezing to the box. Also some trucks run exhaust fumes through the box frame to heat it but it rusts out the box.
plastic on the bottom and sides. we do that on tip trailers in Denmark and it works great.
Hiya 😊
Hi
@@saskdutchkid nice good reliable case 👍

Glad see calf room how the cheese room coming along
Why do you not use your new holland wheel load to push the sand in to your sand room instead you drive your case loader to the sand room
Because it's being used for feeding.
Jan, someday you will have autonomous robots take care of this job.
Hello 👋
Hello 👋
I liked the 1k..❤🎉 it was 999

you can line the bed with poly
Wouldn’t the sand just rip that apart right away?
No, it just lines the bed and helps the materials to slide out@@TangoDelta8111
How much fuel do you guys usually use in a month??
Question for Yun , you said the sand is not good for growing crops, but when y'all take the liquid manure and put it in the fields for growing crops , the liquid manure is loaded with sand. Are y'all concerned that the sand might cause issues long term for growing crops?

Try a mix of used antifreeze and diesel fuel in the bed of the truck. We tried it here in western New York when it got near freezing. It worked until we had to much build up
Not sure that would be good stuff to have on the sand bedding for the cows.
🤟🏻🇨🇦👍🏻

Either a heated box or pneumatic vibrators is what you need on that truck box
🇨🇦👍
You need to install some heavy duty vibration motors to the dump boxes
Send them the money
How does the sand affect yogrowing conditions? When you put sand on every year with the maneuver
Their land is mostly sand already.
There already are separators for sand. However, they're very expensive and not in the farm's budget.
for the frozen sand in the back of the truck: could you use the front end loader to scrape out the frozen sand?
Or the bobcat?
Scrape the box with the bobcat
I told you before, you need an excavator 😊
Send them the money
How many calves will you be able to accommodate after the new part is finished?
They can currently accommodate 96 calves. (24 per room) They're adding 16 pens each to 2 of their rooms. For a total capacity of 128.
We have exhaust heated dump boxes in northeast
playing in a sand pit, life is a short trip, music's for the sad man
Hello
will you need more coral space given you have more calves now?
They have more than enough
Is there a way to put vibraters on your silage trucks ik dump trucks have them so the material doesn't stick to bed of boxes
👍👌❤️🇨🇦, yes vibrator boxes can be added to most truck boxes, we have them on ours to prevent snow w and dirt from sticking
❤ from Norway
Route the truck exhaust system through the dumper floor it works on mining trucks
Took the words right out of my mouth
you need to spray a brine solution on the surfaces then the sand wont get stuck......

Spray the box with windshield washer
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hi Jan🇵🇱🏅
Take diesel fuel and mope it on the truck floor and it won’t stick
How is the cheese plant coming?
Mix a calcium water mix, you can spray on the bed. Every load keeper from freezing.
Back up to a bank and drive the skid steer in the box and clean it out
How’s the cheese building coming along
Good job shaking the cr@p out of it!
To fast
in our native village we only use cows for their dung for fuel, never milk them
Look into buying an electric vibrator for the bed of the truck
How come you don’t have a machine that separates the sand and liquid so you can reuse it?
Because it costs 100 of thousands of dollars if not a million
