    nope, nothing wrong, reading the manual is how it is actually done with most aircrafts, great tutorial

    Thanks for the video. I can't seem to get the autopilot panel to read F/D GA for Flight Director/Go Around mode on approach. Do you know if this is modeled and if so how to get this to show up? Do you know the conditions as to when fuel heat is supposed to be used?

    Hi Matteo
    Awesome tutorial Matteo. I have just purchased the Rotate MD 80 sim. And by far this is the best tutorial :)
    I am a experienced simmer and this is in-depth :)
    A couple of questions:
    What aircraft are you using for the Simbrief OPF? My ZFW was way off.
    You mentioned the Reflected Reality Simulations TH-cam channel with images (or some interactive page) showing the V speeds for different configurations.
    I have trouble finding this on the internet, help me out?
    Keep doing more of these :)
    Regards
    Morten

      Hi Morten,
      I am very happy to hear you have enjoyed the tutorial.
      In regards to Simbrief I took the default MD-80 profile and then updated it with the weights of the Rotate one.
      The speed cards can be found here:
      forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/41990-md-80-speed-cards/
      I hope this helps.
      All the best
      Matteo

    Nice video 👍! I'm not really sure about your speed selection in the speed window of the ATS. It's not a boeing to select V2 and as far as I remember when I was on the jump seat with my MD friends they selected ,same as us on the DC10, 250kt!

    • @matteochewie4373
      @matteochewie4373  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. You are right, in reality they select 250kts, but as I explained in the video the Rotate MD80 tends to pitch down way too aggressively to accelerate if you set the speed straight away to 250, and your V/S can reduce to zero or less, which is not ideal, that's why I slowly and progressively increase from V2 to 250.

    Hi Matteo, I struggled (and still do so) with this plane which is sad because its payware. Some tutorials I found just do not work the same on my MD 80 v1.43, mostly with delimiter and autothrottle. With your video here I will give it a try again. Very good explanations, slow enough to follow with some nice personal background. Absolutely perfectly made tutorial.
    What I am missing so far are links to the documents (mainly the checklists of course) you used. Or are that the one from Rotate?
    I truly would like to see more of the MD 80, these days most people online use Airbus and Boing but this plane is something special I think.

      Hi Jehuda, thank you very much for your kind comment, I am delighted to hear you liked the tutorial.
      The MD-80 definitely deserves a lot more love and attention than it gets.
      In terms of checklist I have created my own from an original Delta's FCOM and FCTM, but I haven't published it. I did create a great version for X-checklist which is available online but that would work exclusively with the MD-88 from Rotate for XP11. Am I right to think that's not what you use?

    • @jehude4409
      @jehude4409 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matteochewie4373 Yes, that's the one I use. I first tried the Laminar MD80 - I got satisfied with the plane itself somehow but it is buggy with the autothrottle . The I bought the Rotate MD 80, which is done so well. But I failed all times mostly with throttle and the delimiters settings. Some guys start autothrottle on their tutorial while on taxiway and I don't get it why their plane does not accellerate - mine is running mad with stabilizer warnings when I do exact the same. That's when I left the plane on disc not using it because of frustration. Your videos change it completely so I will give it a try again.
      Any checklist or docs you can share (which you used in the video) is much appreciated, also to follow your videos even more exact.

    before I watch the video, does your tutorial include the first flight of the day items and the flight deck inspection items like logbooks and manual and emergency equipment etc?
    and i read the manual from delta and is the correct order of events?
    1. supplementary procedure - electrical power up
    BEOFRE START PROCEDURE
    walk around/interior preflight
    2. walk around
    3. interior pre flight
    ( flight deck - check like logbooks and manuals)
    then the interior preflight flows)
    4.pushback procedure
    5. engien start procedure
    and when i skimmed thought the interior prflight it had no mention of the fmc untill the end of the interior preflight where it only said to enter like the preformance info.
    does this video show when the proper time to fill in the fmc route and ect is?

    • @matteochewie4373
      @matteochewie4373  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there.
      To be honest no, I don't do walkaround and checking manuals and emergency equipment because they are not simulated. Personally I don't see the point of pretending to check something that doesn't exist.
      The way I go about it is that I read the FCOM step by step, if the item is simulated in the plane I do it, otherwise I don't.

    It’s actually “brakes, slats, and stabilizer”. If it was telling you flaps, it would pronounce it as “falaps” to prevent confusion.

    • @rynovoski
      @rynovoski 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been told on the real aircraft that it can warn on 7 things: auto brakes, auto spoilers, brakes, slats, f-flaps, spoilers, and stabilizer. I know that at least the first two are not modeled by Rotate (maybe it was a carrier option?).

      @@matteochewie4373 I absolutely loved the checklist, as it felt like you were doing things in a flow, unlike other checklist's on other planes, I was able to follow it. And I read through it as I watched your video, and it works well. So I think you've done a great job. Though this does come from a virtual pilots perspective only haha.

      The aircraft can also do this by itself if you have takeoff flaps set, but I'm told most carriers do flaps later than the FMS stuff, so it's not realistic to have them set by then.
