  • Join me for my RPG scenario review of KULT: Divinity Lost 4th edition, Island of the Dead. The illusion is weak in this adventure, and the player's stability is at risk. It is highly customizable and in this video I walkthrough my top GM tips for playing this premade scenario.

I like your advice of making sure the players’ characters have Enhanced Awareness and connections to some of the dead 💀 NPCs. Perfect combination for any horror 👻 story.

I thought the idea of pirates selling a missile able to reach an air liner stretch believability. Golan wants meat, just take the plane down with no explanation.

Once overheard in my FLGS: "Kult is like Call of Cthulhu, but without that sense of hope." 🤣

Great review. I always love the setting but the system never convinced me (I'm really a fan of the d100 system). I hope you make more reviews of kult.

I am still getting used to the system and finding my GMing groove with it but have been really enjoying it. There will be more scenario reviews coming out and once I have more experience, I plan on doing a system overview/review.

This was a great review, I like this short scenario alot. The handouts really make you feel that every item count in this survival horror.
Although I'm very familiar with the older editions of kult, and have the divinity lost rules and have been listening to countless hours of actual plays, ( I guess you heard "red moons" playthrough of this scenario? ) I simply cannot grasp how the divinity lost rules really work.
If I would ever run Kult again I would do some kind of easier home brew rules like scaled down CoC or some kind of basic Year zero rules or even the original Kult rules.
I think horror games really benefit from easy rules.

Yes! I want to make sure I get more experience with the system before I make my review but there will definitely be one coming out in the future!

It wouldn't be too hard to convert that adventure to CoC. One idea is when the adventurers destroy the statue, tell the players "Quick, everyone, roll a die!" Make a show of finding out what each person rolled. Then, with the players' stress at its peek, tell them, "That's how much sanity you got restored."

    • @XPLovecat

Oh totally, you could convert to CoC with ease.

Very much enjoyed the review. I'm actually due to run this scenario next week for my group, so very timely.
Glad to see you covering Kult, and am wondering if you had any opinion on how it compares to Call of Cthulhu. Personally I'm preferring Kult these days due to the simpler rules.
Modiphius offer quite a range of free adventures to download on their site. So far I've run Gallery of Souls, and Oakwood Heights, and can recommend both.
The Summit and La Cena could also be interesting to get your perspective on. La Cena in particular has a very interesting setup.

I love how much free content Modiphius has for KULT. What I really love about the system is character creation, it's so smooth and fun. It's definitely more rules light and I am still getting used to GMing it. Stay tuned for more scenario reviews and once I've gotten more experience I plan to release a rulebook walkthrough and review!

Do you have a discord server you might share to play games with your teammates?

I don't currently have a discord server, but definitely something to consider for the future.

Sounds like this scenario were inspired by a certain TV show.
But this one probably have a better ending.

You checked out the cyberpunk anime on netflix yet?

Yes! The show is incredible. I love the art and colors in it. It does a great job of showing what the world of Cyberpunk Red is like.
