Pinata really hooked me instantely! It looks beautiful, it has clear Knizia vibes and seems to offer clever twists. Ordered - and thanks a lot (as I was a little undecided with this game🙂
Love Jambo! I just got a hold of King & Assassins (from Part 1 of this series) & have yet to play it. I really enjoy the type of games you seem to feature on your channel :)
Jambo is great! My wife doesn’t like the “take that” but I think it’s a great game. Thanks for continuing to watch my videos. I appreciate it. Hope you get to try K&A soon!!
Another very interesting video, thanks! We play quite a few 2 player games. Pinata looks like a fun one, but makes me want to pull out Air, Land and Sea for that lane battle feel. We played a ton when I first got it, and need to get it out again. I remember seeing some buzz about Robin of Locksley and Chartae back in 2019, but I was just getting into the hobby back then and they just left my consciousness. They both seem really good and would like to try them. Maybe if they pop back up in the 2nd hand market, I will try to grab them. I just recently got District Noir, a small card game for 2, and It's a Wonderful Kingdom, the 2 player version of Its a Wonderful World. I highly recommend both. We've been playing them a bunch. They way exceeded my expectations. DN is one of those card games that really rewards playing against the same person often because of it's meta aspect. It's a W.K., is so much juicier than its original version, in regards to replacing the initial draft for an " I split , you choose" mechanic. I definitely prefer when a 2 player game has some teeth. It also plays great solo, with a ton of built-in variety it's predecessor doesn't have. Also, I really recommend looking at Naga Raja. Another really great 2 player experience that offers a lot of good decision making, highly interactive game play w/o getting too mean. And, talk about a stellar production value. Thanks again! 😁
Thanks for watching, and as always thanks for the tips on DN and WK. I love getting new recommendations from viewers! I haven’t played them but I’m definitely adding them to my research list right now. There are soooo many of those back and forth types of card games like Lost Cities, and most of them are great! Air Land & Sea is a wonderful game! I think it was (maybe) you who mentioned that one on my Hector & Achilles video? I’d say H&A definitely feels more like Air Land & Sea than Piñata. Piñata has its own flavor, a bit more streamlined but extremely tense nonetheless. Now you’re making me want to play Air Land & Sea! 😅 Since you mentioned games with teeth, I’d say of all those featured on this episode, Revolution of 1828 or Robin of Locksley have the deepest decisions, even though they are still fairly simple games. R1828 is reallllly a cool game that doesn’t reveal itself until you play. It is fairly new to me still, and we’ve been having a ton of fun with it over the past couple months. I’ll be sure to let you know if/when I get to try your recommendations! Cheers!
Awesome! Piñata is a great pick! We used to have Land v Sea, but I had the same problem: my wife alllllways won (she usually wins anyway but still…). Piñata is a game I at least feel like I have a _chance_ to win against her. 😅 Have fun and thanks for watching!
Awesome! I've always wanted a copy of Balloon Cup, as I prefer the art in that verison over the cartoony look of Pinata. Great game regardless. Chartae is such a cool little game. I'll never get rid of that one! Soooo portable! Thanks for watching & commenting!
Thank you soooo much for this video! My hubby and I play Rumpelstiltskin which we learned about from your first 2p episode. Now I realllllly wanna play Robin of Locksley and he thinks Revolution 1828 looks fun (he’s a history teacher so that makes sense). Also, I loovvvvvve those little piñata candies!! Adorbs omg!! Thanks for all your hard work making these videos, we love your channel!!!
Can’t go wrong with either of those picks! Those are probably the deepest 2 games I featured in this episode as far as the decision space is concerned (still very simple to learn). I hope you get to try them soon! That’s so cool you found Rumpelstiltskin from my channel! Such a fun light deduction game for 2!
Haha that's so interesting because I was actually the reverse!! I originally had Land Vs. Sea, and _then_ I discovered Chartae. After playing Chartae, I said, "This is what I wish Land Vs. Sea would've been." Both are great games, but I do prefer Chartae personally. It just depends on what you want out of the game ultimately. For me, I like the quick and portable nature of it. Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate it!
Jambo is a fave of mine for 2 players. I do have everything of it, base game both expansions and Asante. With this much of it all combined together let me tell yuou there is just about no way to grow tired of this little masterpiece. I don't use all the modules from the 2 expansions but I do highly suggest he carpets even if you never get your hands on an actual copy of the expansion you can mock those up. Read those rules they really add a nice touch to the game.
Thank you for the detailed info! Very cool! I have always been interested in checking out the expansions, but I don't often seek out expansions for games in general, so I haven't gotten around to it. But from what I've learned so far, the expansions really do improve this game. I've had a lot of positive comments and recommendations for the expansions, so I will definitely be looking further into this!! I really appreciate your comment!!
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. I've had it in my collection for a long time, but I re-discovered my love for the game after making this video. Enjoy!! :)
I have Jambo, Jambo Expansion 1 and Asante. You are able to switch around cards and make your own deck. You can take out the cards your wife doesn't like and make it less mean or not mean at all.
Very cool! I've never played Voltage! I just checked it out on BGG, and I see it's designed by Brian Yu, who designed Kronen fur den Konig, which I featured a long time ago on my channel. Interesting! Thanks for the comment!
This is by far my favorite board game channel on youtube. I actually was going to recommend Balloon cup and Jambo but you already knew. Have you tried the Kosmos 2 Player series game Elk Fest? It's a funny 2 player only dexterity game. Side question: what mic and camera do you use? I really enjoy the quality and I'm thinking of upgrading my current setup.
Thanks so much for your kind comments. I’m so glad you enjoy the channel so much! I do this for fun and it really makes my day to read comments like this. Elk Fest sounds like great fun. Adding to my research list! I haven’t heard of it, but those Kosmos games are all great! Re: my audio/video setup. I formerly worked in radio & music production many years ago. I still have my recording gear, so I am using my home studio setup from like 2008. It’s just an MXL condenser mic with a 4-channel Korg mixing console and some free recording software from 2004😅. For video, I’m just using my iPhone so far, but I would love to upgrade sometime soon. I am fortunate enough to have some decent lighting over my game table, which helps me capture better video quality.
@@coalitionofseekers9572 haha thanks! I appreciate that. I kinda like the challenge of shooting & editing on my phone, but man it would be WAY easier with a better camera and an editing setup haha. Maybe one day!
As I mentioned in the video, my wife finds Jambo to be a bit too mean, but sometimes she agrees to play it because I really like it. I love how you can pace yourself accordingly, press your luck for better cards, and play offense and defense. It’s a great game! I haven’t tried the expansion yet but it’s on my want list!
Another great list! Really enjoyed this after part 1
Thanks! Part 3 is coming soon! :)
Pinata really hooked me instantely! It looks beautiful, it has clear Knizia vibes and seems to offer clever twists. Ordered - and thanks a lot (as I was a little undecided with this game🙂
Awesome! Yeah it’s a blast of color, and a blast to play! Definite Knizia vibes for sure. Hope you enjoy it! Thx for watching!

Charte is right up my ally. Great video as always!
Great choice! Chartae gets sooooo many plays here. It’s fantastic! Thx for the comment!

Charte looks fun.
We have logged soooo many plays of it. Much preferable to tic tac toe 😂😅
Thanks for some great ideas! I just ordered Pinata! I think my husband may like it better than land vs sea which I usually win😊

Great picks, I managed to get Balloon Cup and Jambo through thrifting and math trades. Need to check out Chartae, love me some micro games.

Revolution 1928 reminds me of "Voltage" and I agree with you the theme works well with this game play.

Well, I've HEARD of all these. Played none! I've always been interested in Jambo (and/or Asante) but never come across it!

Robin of Locksley is great.
It’s sooooo good! I just wish there was an expansion with more of those requirements. It’s one of the rare cases I actually want an expansion!
I have ordered Nine Knights by the previous Go champion Lee Sedol. In the same vein as Stealth Chess. I got Chartae, its nice.
Thanks for the comment! I'll definitely check out Nine Knights, haven't heard of it!
