thanks for the reply just finding my quad wonders a little find it flys better with stock props more than dji one any thing you can think of trying plus is there a way to see whos Parameter file your using or is there a good one to use thanks
Parameters are pretty generic .. some people spend time with the pids ect.. but really every quad needs there own.. here are my params drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxM0xYckJidFNRWTQ but you need to re-do all your calibrations. I also have arming check disable and return to home set to 424 .. I would suggest backing up yours first.. then you don't have to go through all the calibrations if you want to go back to yours. if the quad is wondering in a direction.. mostikely you just have to spend more time calibrating your accelerometer/gyro .. On your first calibration on a level surface .. If you have a level.. gently place it on top of two motors and repeat all around the quad. if its not level. place coins or something under the legs until the motors are level with each other. then push the first ok for the level steps. Ideally if you get creative you can hold the level under the quad in such a way that you can do the rest of the steps and get it pretty good.
Hi Bangs6996 thanks for the video. I've been contemplating updating the firmware on my cx20 so good to know i can set it back if need be. Was wondering if there was a recommended firmware? I think I'm on 3.1.2 and not sure this will allow me to use mission planner for telemetry or I just haven't figured out how to.
Hi, You can use telemetry with version 3.1.2 , I have a video on telemetry .because you are still stock you just need to do the cable mod and your basically done...you need to have version 3.2 to run fallow me mode ect. personally if your happy with version 3.1.2 you can stick with it. But like you said at least now you can go back.. Here is the release notes read from version 3.2.1 and down for bug fixes .github.com/ArduPilot/ardupilot/blob/master/ArduCopter/ReleaseNotes.txt Keep in mind newer version could of introduced those bugs...It would be nice If people in the release notes could also say how long the bugs lingered for ,or if it was introduced in a last release ect... But I'm going on and 3.2.1 seems to be really ironed out for errors and its your last choice anyways
+bangs6996 nice one, I'll check out your other video. I've resisted the urge to upgrade so far and if I gain nothing or very little I'll probably stay as is especially if I can do telemetry anyway.
Hi Bangs. Still awaiting bec. Have you any tips on improving quad flight and avoiding flyaways?? Saw on youtube aluminium taping gps to cx lid?? What can i get to improve radio contact?? Thanks up front.
you can try doing stuff like aluminum tape ect.. its all pointless though.. .. always do a control return to home before playing with the quad for the remainder of the battery .. ..hmm not pointless but it won't stop or Limit a software glitch fly away Stopping a compass flyaway..I do this before every flight. Bring up the quad 6 feet or so .. go about 10 -20 feet in front of you with the quad..and flip the switch to rtl.. ..if it does not go straight up and come back relatively in a straight path back towards you ..flip it out..Keep in mind it might land behind you thats fine..but if it darts out to the left or right or any other direction ..flip it out... And don't fly it again until you fix the issue. or just turn off the rtl and have it land instead then its not using the compass it should just use the barometer and land.. I just had a fly away last week almost.. and its a horrible feeling.. I manage to snap it out by doing the emergency transmitter rebind trick ..butttt it did crash into a pole and broke an arm.. and honestly not even sure if it was me that snapped it out of it. personally fly anyways. are usually due to a software loop and nothing you can do to stop it ..once it happens its gone. now when the barometer or accel glitches.. its a entire different feel and everything happens pretty fast.. it will just shoot up to the sky as fast as it can..then what seems like minutes later just turns off. I prefer that one to the fly away.at least you don't have to watch it in slow motion just umm fly away...
Cool. Ta. Hopefully have the cable tomorrow and can do a wee test. All being well , i'll screw it all together and do accel and compass cal as you recommended. When you say "flip it out" do you mean flip radio back to manual??
cool.. thanks for taking time to share that info.. I was sent a upair mainboard to start a project on.. I did not know that upair fallowed the cx20 and nova ect.. for the orignal apm with the 2560..
@@ModItBetter Bumped into your video tutorial by accident when I was searching for help to repair my upair, one of the motors wasn't spinning when armed. Of course, found nothing on that topic. The esc atmega8a mcu was corrupted. Bought a usbasp programmer, copied the contents from one of the other working escs and reflashed. All is good now.
just a little update connected telemetry to side and you can connect with mission planner on older firmware but thats it cannot do much more , still not working at side on usb, cannot do a full setup
Did you redo a Radio calibration in mission planner? ...Usually a esc calibration only has to be done once. But if you do it the safe way it does not hurt doing another one.
thank you kelly for sending me The factory firmware .. also thanks to thibbea for posting his files as well..... I will make them mission planner friendly soon.
+bangs6996 drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxQ3ByNVJudDZlTXM I converted the hex so its mission planner friendly =) and again huge thanks to cjkcizur for getting the ball moving..
+bangs6996 This is awesome! I just used the Mission Planner Hex and uploaded to my CX-20 and works perfectly!! I can confirm the compass calibration via the TX is working just like out of the box. Great hacking skills and thanks to Kelly for providing the files. That being said, I immediately went back to the custom FW for telemetry and sonar :)
Hello bangs6996. I,like a fool, let mission planner wizard change the firmware on my cx-20. It has really bricked the copter. Planner will sometimes not even connect to the machine. Shows a "not enough heartbeat packages" window. Very ominous!! Can you advise on the way forward. Is there a way to erase the software and wipe the slate clean, so to speak?? I have nothing backed up. Is it possible for you to send me an unzipped link for the factory firmware? There is a link on here for erasing but it is in Spanish. I could probably follow it and back up with the firmware if i had it saved. Do you think that would do?? I know its a big ask but i would really appreciate any help. I had just put a new shell on cx after a crash and it was working perfectly until i decided to recalibrate and let the wizard update the firmware. I have tried downloading your link but it gets corrupted for some reason. I'm not too computer saavie but would follow any instruction. Hope you can help. Thanks.
hi the file is in the description drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxYkJmUjY3S2VuZm8 oh ..you might have to download 7zip from 7-zip.org to extract the file?
only usb ..never connect the battery and usb at the same time .unless you remove the red positive wire from your usb cable..i have a short video showing how to do that.... If you connect the battery and usb you can easily fry a esc...
th-cam.com/video/e6Xgn1gf4YA/w-d-xo.html keep in mind if you don't have telemetry and your quad is stock ..you can plug in just the usb cable and update firmware... however if you do this cable mod ..you will need the battery the bonus the low voltage alarm will stop as well. just be careful in remote calibration as you can arm it by accident ..
this is so great you asked twice.. i jsut found you on another video and the guy told you to put the battery in.... I was going to post on his video to you..but found you in my subs =)
I know that my CX20 connects to com port 5, but unfortunately I hosed my firmware before ever saving it. I came across this video in my attempt to find a clean copy of the Cheerson CX-20 firmware and parameters so I can try to flash it to my quadcopter and get it to fly again. I've found SOME places that appear to have firmware for the CX-20, but I've tried everything to get it loaded correctly using Mission Planner and, long story short, my quad STILL won't arm, nor go into calibration mode. Does anyone have the needed files I'll need to restore my quad (open source version) back to factory default?
youtube never notified me of your comment.. so basically just set it to 5 volts depending which bec you got.. on one side you should have 2 separate wires red and black not in a harness .. and a tad bigger then the other side.. those 2 wires (input) gets soldered onto the main board 12 volt pads.. then simply plug the other end into b spot on your receiver..
Done that Bangs and all working good! You're a genius man!! And one with patience. Gonna wait for the aluminium foil tape before i put the lid back on. Would you recommend the geo fence in mission planner for the time being. Had so many flyaways !! Will keep you updated if you like?? Thankyou so much.
you could put up the fence but as before. if its gong to fly away its just going to fly away because its stuck in a software loop of some type. If your worried about gps / compass fly away .. .you might just want to set it to always land instead .. (but it will land on top of tree's buildings ect..) buttttttttt if your in a field/park and you set the fence around the field type thing for the fence and its in line of sight . Nothing wrong with playing around with it. about the aluminum tape, you do know you can pick up at hardware stores for 12bucks..at least homedepot has it at that price here.
Hi. Can you tell me if it's possible to set up Battery Failsafe on my quad. Apparently it needs a "power module" which it might not have?? Also, is it possible to do Radio Failsafe if it loses signal?? Confused.com!! (As always) lol.
Hi I am one of those guys that thought it was a good idea to update the cx20 bfirmware when Mission Planner suggested it. Now I an running V3.1.5 but have to use MP to set up GPS and stuff. Wonder if you have have anyone send you an original firmware for cx20 because I would sure like a copy please. I see from the comments it appears to be available. Great video by the way.
Hi.... its in the description.. ...or here is a link drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxYkJmUjY3S2VuZm8 ..update it through missionplanner custom firmware option..
In reality you don't really need to back up your params.. just redo all the calibrations .. however here are a couple. if you have issues with the first one ..try the april one.. With both of the files bellow you have to redo all the calibrations as well. Here is a default one...This is not mine got it from the net awhile ago. drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxWWVHRFB1Z09GZTg Here is one of mine working as of April.. RTL_ALT is set to 424 (13 feet) and arming check is disabled. also mot spin is off as well. drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxM0xYckJidFNRWTQ
HI .. my upgrade video will be up in about 20 mins.. .. for the cx20 firmware.. use the initial setup .. for the params use full param list or tree.. load the file ..then write the file .. then reboot the apm or push refresh
hi iv had a frends cx-20 given me to try and help him out its not connecting to pc even if you connect the cable to the amp direct just get green light in one corner then red and blue flashing in other corner ..iv tryed different drivers all mission planners just do not know what to try next any help or any thing you can help with this ... just so you know iv got 3 others here all connect 1st time ..so know its not pc and it does not show up in device manager no com no. or go bing bong ;)
Piotr Borowski had posted in this video th-cam.com/video/gKMFenjNrLE/w-d-xo.html He replaced the mux chip I have a link for it but..he did not have success with it anyways.. if its apm2.6 you can try to attach tx and rx to your telemetry port and connect at 57600 baud.. but if the atmega32 chip is messed up then you won't get pwm to ppm = the receiver won't work. Is this the apm2.6 or original apm? if its apm 2.6 you can try this th-cam.com/video/U6axABOd_Dk/w-d-xo.html I have not pinned it out on the apm 2.5.2 Might be some hard soldering . Its very possible that he attached the usb cable and battery at the same time..and ended up frying something.
Boas Tenho uma dúvida se me puder ajudar. O cx20 no modo voo onde seria suposto ser o head lock está definido como auto. Para voltar a ter headlock, qual será a escolha que devo usar? Cumprimentos
th-cam.com/video/mrBWEATUbus/w-d-xo.html 23:03 if thats what you mean.. if you mean the direction the quadcopter faces during a rtl look for WP_YAW_BEHAVIOR
Thanks for reply. But it isn't in rtl, I was looking for orientation mode "headlock". Because when I bought the drone was working, and after one crash, I send it to a repair shop and probably they changed flight modes, in Missionplan is selected "auto" once is not correct, I'd like to know which one is supposed to choose. Regards Nuno
If you plug in usb into cx20 connect to it with mission planner go to flight modes. Turn on cx20 remote. Then flip the swb 1 and sba 1 it should move to flightmode 5 .. set it to stabilize with simple checked.....watch other video to confirm the rest are right at 23:03 of other video ..don't forget to click on the "save modes" If you want I can send you my params. but you will have to redo the compass accelerator and remote calibration
no not at all.. Only reason why all the other vids said not to upgrade is because they did not know you could simply dump your firmware. so instead they just told everybody not to do it.. I got sick of reading it so I just posted this vid up to fix that small issue heh.... the version your on is the best one to be on . however each to our own on that . some people might say version 3.1.5..
ok good.. so lets try esc calibration one last time. just make sure it still works how you have it now. then do the steps. .. plug in usb to computer.. arm the quad go full throttle plug in battery .. wait for 2 beeps . put throttle down. musical tone should happen then unplug quad
could you send me the factory firmware for cx20 i did not back up and i would like to go back to the way it flew when i first got the quadcopter thanks
Have not managed to sort corrupted firmware in me cx-20. Would replacing the flight controller fix all my problems?? If so, what is the original fc called?? Thanks.
its been awhile so not sure what all your problems were.. however I would switch the apm to a apm2.8 i have a video on the switch over.. th-cam.com/video/mrBWEATUbus/w-d-xo.html the apm2.8 is totally the same hardware its just more convenient on the pin layout ..
ok I found your old messages.. yeah personally I would just switch over to the newer apm.. if you really want to get the same apm here is one like it goo.gl/edphyy
Thankyou bangs for your help. I'm gonna give sorting it another go!? How difficult can it be?? Ha ha. Would really appreciate it if you could "walk" me through the process. I had to put it away there for a couple of months to chill! So soul destroying going round in circles. Would love to see it back to factory normal (or just normal!) and get that rewarding feeling. Got this as a pressie from my gf and was really getting the hang until i let the dreaded wizard brick it. I have tried getting help from various forums but the problem is that a lot of people assume that because they understand what they are trying to explain, i do too. I need help from someone who can put themselves in my learner shoes, so to speak. Could you help with this. Thanks again for your quick reply, always appreciated.
ok .. so from your last message you said it stays solid.. but in the mean time I had a idea..to see what can be blown. but confused as well as this should worked during esc programming. ..remove the b cable and plug in the usb cable into your computer try to arm it.. does it arm still?
Hi Bangs, I have good news and bad news and would really appreciate your thoughts... Good news: I followed your videos to the letter, downloaded your 3.1.2 back up, saved a copy of my factory params etc Then downloaded Funtastix 3.2.1 hex as advised by the many RC forums I then turned on the drone, opened mission planner, plugged the drone in and selected the correct COM port (but made sure not to press connect) Then went to Initial Setup and loaded custom firmware by selecting the 3.2.1 hex as above This successfully loaded and verified to the drone Then I calibrated the drone and transmitter via MPlanner perfectly Disconnected, removed USB cable, unplugged drone battery Bad news: Plugged the drone battery in to turn it on as if to do a normal flight, she beeped and turned on seemingly as normal (green light flash then steady - red light flash for motor lock) Turned on transmitter within 5 seconds as I always had done previously However.. upon moving the throttle stick to the lower right position - the drone wont arm. Almost seems to completely ignore the tranmitter... (Interesting plot twist.. my android phone CAN connect telemetry to the drone and CAN arm it.........) I tried connecting the drone back up to MPlanner and then tried to arm it with the transmitter to see if MP would show an arming error. But no error comes up.. again, its like the transmitter just doesnt exist I have tried changing the parameter for ARM check to 0 (to skip the arming checks) but this didnt make a difference I have also done a transmitter calibration.. no difference And furthermore to this issue.. when I now plug the drone battery in to try different solutions the front starboard ESC beeps constantly! :( This never happened before.... So all in all.... the firmware update seemed to go well, but has a few residual issues left over... i am confident they can be fixed but I am not sure on the solutions.. Many apologies for writing so many questions but if you have any thoughts, or have encountered this behaviour before and have any tricks up your sleeves I would really really be most appreciative to hear them Thankyou :) :)
back your parameters.. and load these ones drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxM0xYckJidFNRWTQ you need to re do all the calibrations in mission planner.. but you can try to arm it for kicks right after you load it just to see... ..just make sure to push write after you load them. and unplug the quad and plug it back in
and if that does not work. I would suggest trying 4 step calibration in order. also for step 2.. make sure the throttle stick is center after your done..
err.. also in mission planner when you do a Radio calibration.. confirm your throttle moves up and your yaw moves to the button right..should not be a issue but who knows maybe you moved a cable..
Hi again... more good news and slightly less bad news... I went into MP and re calibrated just the transmitter, upon exiting the transmitter calibration I left the throttle stick in the middle X & Y axis I CAN now arm the drone and control the motors just fine! Remaining bad news... The beeping ESC is still beeping and its respective motor (front right) will not rotate I am unsure how this ESC issue could be caused by the firmware update..? I have not moved the drone during this process, not dropped it, opened it, soldered anything, changed anything etc so I can only imagine its been caused by the software change... I will open the shell up any way to check for physical wiring issues, then will follow your video above to check and calibrate the ESCs Nearly there!! Thankyou again for your help and knowledge! Hopefully these comments will help anyone else going through the same issues as well :) Right... time to iron out this ESC issue :) ill keep you posted :)
thank s again for your reply i will try and look in to this see if i can set a place here that is perfect level and re do them will try your s just to see thanks again
Ok. the quad works perfectly when plugged in with uncut usb and battery. When this is done with cut usb cable and battery all i get is beeping and no lights and not arming.
Ok don't worry about the cut cable..I've had lots of time to ponder.. .. I some how think your main board is messed up.. specially because you remember me keep saying .."thats weird you can spin the motors" so for a test.. .. plug in b cable back into the receiver. plug in the usb cable.. now on the main board front facing forward. left side.. you will see 4 wires ..two reds a big one and a small one then a big black and a small one.. put your meter and tell me what voltage you get from the black and red wire don't put the battery in.
IT'S NOT WORKING!!! I'm trying to get it working more than 2 hours! First there is libusb0.dll missing error and then after solving it there is error in avrdude: "avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout". Tried on two different computers (running Win7 and Win10). MP is working on both. So it's definitely problem with your program.
michalk09 hi will be back later to help....but for now you can just use mission planner to load the firmware in the description.. or check out my other restore video
bangs6996 Yes I know this video, it's about downgrading, so it's not the case. I just want to make backup. You made video about firmware backup, thanks I appreciate it, but unfortunately it's not working.
Hi .. re download the package.. and try again.. timing is not everything now.. you should be able to simply plug in the apm take your time put in your com port number and push any key.. drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxVUJtOU81SE1uWm8 I also included the lib in my package as well.. let me know how it goes.. I tested in a virgin virtual machine and it works no problem.. on my end..
ok the man just gotback to me this is what he says went off ....... This is all that happened it's started bleeping and went loud when I turned the prop back left so I got a ESC and changed it then I tried to set the motors with a video on TH-cam and I could not unlock the motors so I tried to connect to the PC and laptop with no luck.
Yeah ..depending which video he watched.. I think all of them accept mine warn people about hooking up usb and battery at the same time without removing the b cable or power module.. so he might of just fried it fallowing the esc calibration ... I could trace out the isp connections for the atmega32 chip but it probably won't help. Prob the best thing to do is just order another apm2.8 .. i think you can find them on ebay now for like 27 bucks.. Besides that until I run across the same issue, I can't figure a workaround .. My best guess would be to by pass the mux chip and just connect rx and tx right to the 2560 chip at baud rate 57600.. this will tell you if the atmel 2560 pins are fried.. ..then if it does work .. its just tracing the components back to the at32chip .. but with that all said ..if you do order the cable and you can solder. I can help you out finding the isp connections for the atmega32 chip to see if that fixes it.....
Thanks bangs6996 for a good video. I have tried to unlock CX-20 for 2 days, and until you stressed the point that Throttle stick must be centred "Or You Will Never Unlock", I could not unlock. D'oh. I had trouble understanding the instruction book, now I can see what I overlooked. i.e. Return throttle to "neutral" position (50%), SWB to "0", then in book we should add the words THEN TURN OFF Tx.
lol,,, I had Done the same thing and this is even after knowing how to do it properly , I even re did the firmware, esc calibrations and everything else I could think of ..until i re did the remote .. then confirmed my f'up by purposefully leaving it down at the end.. I also went D'ohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
your welcome.. Not sure what apm you are using .. so not sure how difficult it would be on the original apm for the atemga32 chip... I really don't think your apm is bricked .... Even if its bricked you would still get the ding dong sound and a com port..leads me to believe you have to start looking at the atmega32 chip( that has your usb drivers so to say) and anything else within the path to the 2560 chip. ..because you get lights .. I don't think it would be a bad voltage regulator ..
you're welcome .if you downloaded the params minutes after I uploaded ..make sure it says "cx20 default 2014.param" the first one I linked was wrong.. I'm just going to upload a new video like a step by step for this .you are not the first person to request or ask questions about the firmware..so a new video will hopefully be more helpful ....
Not strange its the same chip as I said that controls the usb and your pwm/ppm for your receiver.. ... so as far as I can see tracing it out .. if you are getting power to your 2560.. then the atmega32 is alao getting volts... I have traced out couple of things and it seems pretty easy to program the at32 chip once you get a programmer ... you can try to connect rx tx directly to the 2560 chip ..if you have a usb to serial adapter. ttl.. or you can just try using the rx and tx from your telemetry ..
I'm just finishing up a very long annoying build video .. so once I'm done with the editing .. i'll make a step by step on that.. you might have to solder though. not sure yet..and no idea if this will fix your friends problem.
ok so I spent a tad tracing it out today ..and will post a step by step for you tomorrow... you will have to solder just one wire to be able to program with isp.... Again not sure if this will help with it,, as a component might be fried ..but its a step to rule it out anyways.
just been out to night after redone all you sead wow flys mint now thanks did not use your prams there was a lot of settings not like mine so was not shore
Hi. To much beeping to make a video. Still no cable, hopefully tomorrow. Motors do turn while attached to the laptop. Throttle to the right and fully up for one pair (black) and to the left for the other pair (silver).????? Weird. Detached from computer and plugged battery in, makes all the right sounds. Switch trans on and throttle down to right corner. After a few seconds red light flashes quickly (as if it's receiving arming signal) then back to slow beat. Throttle up then but no reaction whatsoever. Hope you're ok today.
yeah stop trying to spin while connected to usb.. i find it odd they are spinning .. maybe because I have never really tried it..but again weird .. i have been assuming this entire time you have done no mods to this quads..the only thing you have done is accidentally upgraded it in the past? anyways the last step of the process is the esc calibration. you will have to take off the lid for this step.. let me know if you want to continue
yup let me know when your done.. just carefully lift the lid and place side ways on the quad some how without pulling to hard on the red cable..that goes to your compass..
Got music tone when put throttle down. More than just 2 beeps of course cos of other motor beeping. Seemed to be a slight delay in one of the motors kicking in.
ok.. we will jump around a tad.. lets fix motor 3 first.. if you can solder remove the wire i show in the picture off the main board ..and tape it up..or just clip it at the solder joint and tape it up..this is the last connection .. connecting your apm to your your mainboard.. so even if the main board is screwed up ... drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxb1VGVmdOX1ZRVzg after you clip that.. re attach motor 3 to your apm ..and do a calibration one more time.
If this video confuses you and you want or need to go back to oem factory .check out my new video. th-cam.com/video/wKEC6rUW5Ow/w-d-xo.html

cx-20 amp v252 -v5.0 yes get lights buzzer if you connect batt to it both front light flash but can do any thing with it
Thanks a lot. The backup method also works for the older upair one which is based on apm flight controller.
cool.. thanks for taking time to share that info..
All is good now.
just a little update connected telemetry to side and you can connect with mission planner on older firmware but thats it cannot do much more , still not working at side on usb, cannot do a full setup
what happens when you try to do a radio calibration ? the atmega32 / usb chip controls that as well
Thanks. After installing the original firmware I got more initialization beeps than before. How can I fix it? May be esc calibration?
+cjkcizur .. yup went back to my firmware as well .. it was a fun project that at least had a successful ending..
Thanks.
hi the file is in the description drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxYkJmUjY3S2VuZm8 oh ..you might have to download 7zip from 7-zip.org to extract the file?
hello with a question, before connecting the USB to the drone must be connected first battery or usb only to the firmware 3.1.5 download
only usb ..never connect the battery and usb at the same time .unless you remove the red positive wire from your usb cable..i have a short video showing how to do that.... If you connect the battery and usb you can easily fry a esc...
You can give me the video link where the USB cable is please
th-cam.com/video/e6Xgn1gf4YA/w-d-xo.html keep in mind if you don't have telemetry and your quad is stock ..you can plug in just the usb cable and update firmware... however if you do this cable mod ..you will need the battery the bonus the low voltage alarm will stop as well. just be careful in remote calibration as you can arm it by accident ..
thanks for your advice and prompt response friend, have a happy night
this is so great you asked twice.. i jsut found you on another video and the guy told you to put the battery in....
Does anyone have the needed files I'll need to restore my quad (open source version) back to factory default?
thats what this video is for.. ..but i did just make another video.. th-cam.com/video/wKEC6rUW5Ow/w-d-xo.html
Hi Bangs. Got my cable at last!! Could you advice on where it goes. Not really sure. Hope all's good with you.
youtube never notified me of your comment.. so basically just set it to 5 volts depending which bec you got.. on one side you should have 2 separate wires red and black not in a harness .. and a tad bigger then the other side.. those 2 wires (input) gets soldered onto the main board 12 volt pads.. then simply plug the other end into b spot on your receiver..
Ok,thanks. I'll give that a go tomorrow.
(but it will land on top of tree's buildings ect..)
buttttttttt if your in a field/park and you set the fence around the field type thing for the fence and its in line of sight .
(As always) lol.
thanks for making video
Hi I am one of those guys that thought it was a good idea to update the cx20 bfirmware when Mission Planner suggested it. Now I an running V3.1.5 but have to use MP to set up GPS and stuff.
Wonder if you have have anyone send you an original firmware for cx20 because I would sure like a copy please. I see from the comments it appears to be available. Great video by the way.
Hi.... its in the description.. ...or here is a link drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxYkJmUjY3S2VuZm8 ..update it through missionplanner custom firmware option..
use the mission planner.hex one.. and ignore the other files.
Ok great we will try that and thank you very much.
your welcome..
Thank you so much for this video and files. Can I get the original param. list?? I didn't save my when I moved to the 3.2 ver.
In reality you don't really need to back up your params.. just redo all the calibrations .. however here are a couple. if you have issues with the first one ..try the april one.. With both of the files bellow you have to redo all the calibrations as well.
Here is a default one...This is not mine got it from the net awhile ago.
drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxWWVHRFB1Z09GZTg
Here is one of mine working as of April.. RTL_ALT is set to 424 (13 feet) and arming check is disabled. also mot spin is off as well.
drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxM0xYckJidFNRWTQ
banggood have original params list for each verison of cx-20 just go to the page where they are selling your version and scroll down till you see it
Thank you for the tip.
sorry to keep bugging you again but would i use install firmware or would i go to full param list and write file from there thanks a lot
HI .. my upgrade video will be up in about 20 mins.. .. for the cx20 firmware.. use the initial setup .. for the params use full param list or tree..
load the file ..then write the file .. then reboot the apm or push refresh
hi iv had a frends cx-20 given me to try and help him out its not connecting to pc even if you connect the cable to the amp direct just get green light in one corner then red and blue flashing in other corner ..iv tryed different drivers all mission planners just do not know what to try next any help or any thing you can help with this ... just so you know iv got 3 others here all connect 1st time ..so know its not pc and it does not show up in device manager no com no.
or go bing bong ;)
Piotr Borowski had posted in this video
th-cam.com/video/gKMFenjNrLE/w-d-xo.html
He replaced the mux chip I have a link for it but..he did not have success with it anyways..
if its apm2.6 you can try to attach tx and rx to your telemetry port and connect at 57600 baud.. but if the atmega32 chip is messed up then you won't get pwm to ppm = the receiver won't work.
Is this the apm2.6 or original apm? if its apm 2.6 you can try this
th-cam.com/video/U6axABOd_Dk/w-d-xo.html
I have not pinned it out on the apm 2.5.2
Might be some hard soldering .
Its very possible that he attached the usb cable and battery at the same time..and ended up frying something.
Boas
Tenho uma dúvida se me puder ajudar.
Regards Nuno
that should be in the video link i sent you. under flight modes 5 stabilize with simple checked.
+bangs6996 how to i update software
hi i am on v3.2.1 should i use a different firmware or stay on this one is there any problems with this vir i am on
no not at all..
Did you get my last reply. Don't know if i'm getting too exited too soon. Thought i could see light at the end of the tunnel and it was orange!!
ok will stick in this thread.
so now if you remove b cable and do the order again does it arm now?
.. ok
unplug the motors..and only use the usb cable and try to arm it.
don't use the b cable
Sorry, getting a bit confused!! Yes it does. When cable b removed and plugged into computer and battery it works perfectly. Appologies.
Please disregard that "no" answer. Completely wrong!
ok good..
so lets try esc calibration one last time.
just make sure it still works how you have it now.
then do the steps.
..
plug in usb to computer..
arm the quad
go full throttle
plug in battery ..
wait for 2 beeps .
put throttle down.
musical tone should happen
then unplug quad
could you send me the factory firmware for cx20 i did not back up and i would like to go back to the way it flew when i first got the quadcopter thanks
HI the link is in the description use the mission planner file when you extract it.
here is a link for the default params as well... drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxNTRYWTc0c1J1MjA
Have not managed to sort corrupted firmware in me cx-20. Would replacing the flight controller fix all my problems?? If so, what is the original fc called?? Thanks.
its been awhile so not sure what all your problems were.. however I would switch the apm to a apm2.8 i have a video on the switch over.. th-cam.com/video/mrBWEATUbus/w-d-xo.html
the apm2.8 is totally the same hardware its just more convenient on the pin layout ..
ok I found your old messages.. yeah personally I would just switch over to the newer apm.. if you really want to get the same apm here is one like it goo.gl/edphyy
HI ok we will take this in small steps..do you have a isp?
Phew......thanks. Isp???
All cals done to the letter. Looks really good in mp radio cal. hitting all the marks. Followed your esc cal again but will NOT arm at all on battery!
alright i know this one is old ..but after you test my last suggest post result in this one..
Orange light beside the b cable flashes until i switch trans on. It then goes solid and stays solid.
ok .. so from your last message you said it stays solid.. but in the mean time I had a idea..to see what can be blown.
but confused as well as this should worked during esc programming.
..remove the b cable
and plug in the usb cable into your computer
try to arm it..
does it arm still?
yes. goes solid and stays when arming.
yes.
Hi Bangs,
I have good news and bad news and would really appreciate your thoughts...
Good news:
I followed your videos to the letter, downloaded your 3.1.2 back up, saved a copy of my factory params etc
Then downloaded Funtastix 3.2.1 hex as advised by the many RC forums
I then turned on the drone, opened mission planner, plugged the drone in and selected the correct COM port (but made sure not to press connect)
Then went to Initial Setup and loaded custom firmware by selecting the 3.2.1 hex as above
This successfully loaded and verified to the drone
Then I calibrated the drone and transmitter via MPlanner perfectly
Disconnected, removed USB cable, unplugged drone battery
Bad news:
Plugged the drone battery in to turn it on as if to do a normal flight, she beeped and turned on seemingly as normal (green light flash then steady - red light flash for motor lock)
Turned on transmitter within 5 seconds as I always had done previously
However.. upon moving the throttle stick to the lower right position - the drone wont arm. Almost seems to completely ignore the tranmitter...
(Interesting plot twist.. my android phone CAN connect telemetry to the drone and CAN arm it.........)
I tried connecting the drone back up to MPlanner and then tried to arm it with the transmitter to see if MP would show an arming error. But no error comes up.. again, its like the transmitter just doesnt exist
I have tried changing the parameter for ARM check to 0 (to skip the arming checks) but this didnt make a difference
I have also done a transmitter calibration.. no difference
And furthermore to this issue.. when I now plug the drone battery in to try different solutions the front starboard ESC beeps constantly! :( This never happened before....
So all in all.... the firmware update seemed to go well, but has a few residual issues left over... i am confident they can be fixed but I am not sure on the solutions..
Many apologies for writing so many questions but if you have any thoughts, or have encountered this behaviour before and have any tricks up your sleeves I would really really be most appreciative to hear them
Thankyou :) :)
back your parameters.. and load these ones drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxM0xYckJidFNRWTQ you need to re do all the calibrations in mission planner.. but you can try to arm it for kicks right after you load it just to see... ..just make sure to push write after you load them. and unplug the quad and plug it back in
and if that does not work. I would suggest trying 4 step calibration
in order. also for step 2.. make sure the throttle stick is center after your done..
err.. also in mission planner when you do a Radio calibration.. confirm your throttle moves up and your yaw moves to the button right..should not be a issue but who knows maybe you moved a cable..
+bangs6996 Thankyou ever so much - I shall try all of the above tomorrow (UK time) and get back to you... Hopefully with success! :)
Hi again... more good news and slightly less bad news...
I went into MP and re calibrated just the transmitter, upon exiting the transmitter calibration I left the throttle stick in the middle X & Y axis
I CAN now arm the drone and control the motors just fine!
Remaining bad news...
The beeping ESC is still beeping and its respective motor (front right) will not rotate
I am unsure how this ESC issue could be caused by the firmware update..?
I have not moved the drone during this process, not dropped it, opened it, soldered anything, changed anything etc so I can only imagine its been caused by the software change...
I will open the shell up any way to check for physical wiring issues, then will follow your video above to check and calibrate the ESCs
Nearly there!! Thankyou again for your help and knowledge! Hopefully these comments will help anyone else going through the same issues as well :)
Right... time to iron out this ESC issue :) ill keep you posted :)
its not as good here today in uk been raining most of the day but went to the field to test just got to know it as i normal fly a 450 frame
thank s again for your reply i will try and look in to this see if i can set a place here that is perfect level and re do them will try your s just to see thanks again
do i plug etr cable in before trying that. B cable is still out.
oh oops..yes ..plug that back in as well....only thing you don't have to is the compass..it should still arm ...and don't use the B cable
not arming.no lights. nothing doing. just beeping
you are doing the steps?
plug in usb cable
plug in battery.
wait 20 seconds..
turn on remote .
try to arm.
Ok. the quad works perfectly when plugged in with uncut usb and battery. When this is done with cut usb cable and battery all i get is beeping and no lights and not arming.
Ok don't worry about the cut cable..I've had lots of time to ponder.. ..
I some how think your main board is messed up.. specially because you remember me keep saying .."thats weird you can spin the motors"
so for a test.. ..
plug in b cable back into the receiver.
plug in the usb cable..
now on the main board front facing forward.
left side.. you will see 4 wires ..two reds a big one and a small one
then a big black and a small one..
put your meter and tell me what voltage you get from the black and red wire
don't put the battery in.
So it's definitely problem with your program.
michalk09 hi will be back later to help....but for now you can just use mission planner to load the firmware in the description.. or check out my other restore video
michalk09 th-cam.com/video/wKEC6rUW5Ow/w-d-xo.html
bangs6996 Yes I know this video, it's about downgrading, so it's not the case. I just want to make backup. You made video about firmware backup, thanks I appreciate it, but unfortunately it's not working.
yeah it does work but can be annoying to catch it at the right time....I use it to back up everything......I'll look later..to see if icon tweak it
Hi .. re download the package.. and try again.. timing is not everything now.. you should be able to simply plug in the apm take your time put in your com port number and push any key..
drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxVUJtOU81SE1uWm8
I also included the lib in my package as well..
let me know how it goes..
HI, have you done this part ? th-cam.com/video/mrBWEATUbus/w-d-xo.html setting arming check to disable.
also what he is talking about is this part th-cam.com/video/mrBWEATUbus/w-d-xo.html at the end you have to make sure the stick is centre..
Thankyou for that. Much appreciated!
Is this ok. Not actually sure how to start a new thread.
just seen video thanks for fast reply think i try and get a programmer see if that does any thing thanks for all your help
your welcome.. I don't think it would be a bad voltage regulator ..
thanks so much
you're welcome .if you downloaded the params minutes after I uploaded ..make sure it says "cx20 default 2014.param" the first one I linked was wrong.. I'm just going to upload a new video like a step by step for this .you are not the first person to request or ask questions about the firmware..so a new video will hopefully be more helpful ....
do not get any thing with the radio calibration this is very strang
Not strange its the same chip as I said that controls the usb and your pwm/ppm for your receiver.. ... so as far as I can see tracing it out .. if you are getting power to your 2560.. then the atmega32 is alao getting volts...
I have traced out couple of things and it seems pretty easy to program the at32 chip once you get a programmer ... you can try to connect rx tx directly to the 2560 chip ..if you have a usb to serial adapter. ttl.. or you can just try using the rx and tx from your telemetry ..
I'm just finishing up a very long annoying build video .. so once I'm done with the editing .. i'll make a step by step on that.. you might have to solder though. not sure yet..and no idea if this will fix your friends problem.
wow your so good
thanks
ok so I spent a tad tracing it out today ..and will post a step by step for you tomorrow... you will have to solder just one wire to be able to program with isp.... Again not sure if this will help with it,, as a component might be fried ..but its a step to rule it out anyways.
just been out to night after redone all you sead wow flys mint now thanks did not use your prams there was a lot of settings not like mine so was not shore
cool glad you got it to go. just wish my weather would get better so I can play =(
Apologies again. I understand. Getting bogged down here too. Will post video tomorrow. As always, thankyou. I hope this is a new thread!!! Doh.
perfect thanks.. .. maybe one day youtube will fix the comment layout but doubtful
Yes, of course. Thanks. No mods done to drone whatsoever. I'll start taking the lid off it now. That ok??
yup let me know when your done.. just carefully lift the lid and place side ways on the quad some how without pulling to hard on the red cable..that goes to your compass..
thanks !!!!!
you're welcome ...
No, not at all. I completely understand that this is a process of illimination . Please go right ahead.
ok.. so what happen with the last esc calibration?
Seemed to work fine. All three motors spinning. One still beeping.
but you manage to actually do the calibration .u got the two beeps? then put throttle down got a musical tone..??
Got music tone when put throttle down. More than just 2 beeps of course cos of other motor beeping. Seemed to be a slight delay in one of the motors kicking in.
ok.. we will jump around a tad.. lets fix motor 3 first..
if you can solder remove the wire i show in the picture off the main board ..and tape it up..or just clip it at the solder joint and tape it up..this is the last connection .. connecting your apm to your your mainboard.. so even if the main board is screwed up ...
drive.google.com/open?id=0B2w6_OKE_2kxb1VGVmdOX1ZRVzg
after you clip that.. re attach motor 3 to your apm ..and do a calibration one more time.
It's too complicated----!!!
not sure if your joking or not.. but here is a updated video.
th-cam.com/video/wKEC6rUW5Ow/w-d-xo.html
