I bought the Active 3 just like yours and am impressed by the built quality. Already loving it. Originally wanted to go for an active holder from RAM but after you explained the problems with the pogo pins, I opted for the Brodit with spring lock.
That's a great setup Johannes. Thanks for sharing it. I have been using a Lenovo M7 tablet running OsmAnd. Its a good size (7 inch) and cheap so that if it got damaged, it wouldn't worry me. The Samsung Active 3 looks like a great device but here in Australia its $600 AUD new and its a bigger 8 inch screen and quite heavy. The only comparable 7 inch tablet to the Active 3 that i can find is the Tripltek. Also great hardware but its $1,000+ AUD. You would think that with the popularity of drones that these tablets would come down in price.
Brilliantly explained. You made everything so clear. I liked the way you broke down your setup into 4 main parts. Made EVERYTHING so much clearer now. Well done. I'm impressed. Have you made a video of the controller yet?
Well done! You actually answered most of my questions regarding usage of a tablet as a navigation device. It would be great if you make a long-term review after let's say a year or so. Unfortunately, when I look at your recent videos you have changed the ride quite a few times, so maybe the tablet as navigation is way back in the past for you. Ride safe!
Thank you! An updated video on this would indeed be nice. The trips I've been on since making this video (on any bike) hasn't required me navigating at all. The others guys do that and I focus on filming. The other guys in my group all use a tab like this one though, so combined we have a serious amount of traveled miles with this setup. Other Android tablets to consider are: Oukitel RT3 Pros: Affordable, Android 12. Cons: Screen brightness is only 400 nits, no rear strap mount, 5150mAh battery. Hugerock T71 (or R71). Pros: Well made, 10000mAh battery, screen is 1000 nits brightness, tablet can be mounted via the included strap brackets. Cons: More expensive than the Oukitel RT3, screen is only 7 inches. If only the Hugerock offered a 8" model that's as cheap as the Oukitel, that would be good. I'm still undecided which one to get, but the brighter screen in daylight may be the way to go.
No truer word spoken! I switched from brand name GPS systems to an Android phone on my bike. Got tired to be locked in by the GPS lot. Never looked back - even use Google Maps offline and it works 100% - phone blue tooth to my headset, so I can get calls, listen to radio, music etc....
One thing about phones and tablets is if you get one with a oled screen, dark themes give better battery life vs bright colors. And with LCD screens white backgrounds give better battery life. Also with some devices you can help power consumption by lowering screen resolution, and screen hz
I've got purchased the same solution for my BMW R1200 GS LC. Together with the Wunderlinq device I can control my Active Tab with the BMW-Wonder wheel and it works very well.
I want to add, that you should remember about battery degradation (it is always in charging mode), it will be happen sooner or later. And if you looking for used device - there is huge possibility, that it is not so waterproof as a brand new one (because of drops/repairs, etc.)
I use a garmin Navigator 6 bike satnav which unlike tablets, is deigned to be fully waterproof and take shocks plus spare batteries are available from the factory for them if ever needed. Can't see myself using anything else. Used you can pick them up for under £300 and if you have a bmw you always have the option of the bmw cradle set up for charging and it additionally reads and displays all the bike's critical data like engine temperature, tyre pressures and just about everything you need to flick through bike dash screen menus for but all on one easy to read display. I'd be concerned about reliability with a tab but would also carry paper maps as a backup.
Thanks for the video - I was looking for such a review: detailed enough but not that long. :) Would you be so kind and add the names of the equipment into the description please? It could be much easier to look locally for these products. Thanks!
Happy to hear it was helpful Chris, and thank you for the feedback regarding video length. I will update the description with the information. Tab is Samsung Galaxy Active Tab 3 Holder by Brodit Waterproof UsbC from Quadlock. 🙂
Hi Johannes, mate, I have to say your video was excellent. I have pretty much done the same set-up for my brand new Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. I have the same tablet and Brodit holder. I do have a different mount to my bike, I have also the Quad Lock cables attached to the tablet.. AI wold like to say an excellent video, and set up. I also like to say because of your content, was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks once again from Canberra, Australia.
Great video ... like you I am using a Tab Active 3. I am on 3rd mount system (tried Quadlock, RAM and now Gamber Johnson). I am really like the GJ mount as neat, lean profile and has security key lock. On a KTM790R I am running a Rade Garage screen and GPS mount bar. On the mount bar running a Rade Garage AMP pattern billet clamp which is connected to GJ mount via a home made ABS plastic plate (VESA pattern) to get the offset (correct centering & height) of the tablet. To fit neatly I am running the GJ mount upside down (with the blue slider bar / key lock on the lower left) - this allows the tablet to be in optimum location and still be able to unlock and clip it out of mount. Like you running Quadlock 90 degree USB waterproof connector cable - works great. Also have Carpe Iter adventure controller (the original version) for Bluebooth zoom, pan and operation of screen from handlebar. I need to upgrade my USB charge source to QC3.0 fast charger in a format that I can hide inside headlight assembly. If anybody is interested send me a note and I can send some pictures. Also run OsmAnd as main application (tailored for Offroad ADV), with Gaia and ExploreOz (Australian) for other references. This has been rock solid, water proof and easy to operate system - really happy ! www.gamberjohnson.com/products/samsung-galaxy-tab-active2active3-lite-cradle
Hello there Steve - Sounds like you have found a perfect setup! I too run the billett clamp that was provided by Rade Garage. Thanks for providing this information for people to see, have a great day!
@@Vytasltu I tried Quadlock adhesive mount on back of tablet (strong adhesive) - it had potential - nice clean minimal solution. However I found on day 1 of a rally I attended it popped at the join of the quadlock socket (on the adhesive mount) and the Quadlock male / plug which was connected to my bike. I think when bike was on a angle / leaning and hitting bumps at force with the tablet weight it rotated off the 0 degree lock key towards 45 degrees and popped off (3 times in the first day). I have heard of one other who is happy and has not have this happen
Many thanks for this excellent video / review of the Samsung tablet & software. To be blunt, Garmin are just not going to have anymore of my hard earned money. As others have said, you buy a Garmin device and get locked into their world! I am trialling the software on my Nokia at present and find it really useful to monitor all the data coming from the ECU via an OBD wifi reader under the seat.
The problem I see is the tablet only has about 400 nits of screen brightness which is low for sunlight viewing in my opinion. My phone has 500 and it is hard to see sometimes, the Garmin Zumo XT has 800 which is always viewable. Now one needs to think about cost when considering these options.
Hi, thank you, this is very informative… i will think about this combination hence i thought the screen may not be readable in fully sun shine… I will get back to you if i need more infos. many thanks. Pascal
Hi Johannes. Thanks for great video. I'm going to make the same configuration as you did after watching. Can you please help me to describe what you used to mount the Brodit holder to the 12mm crossbar, and how you connected the USB cable into the bike ?
Nice video! I have the same tablet on my bike for navigation. The only difference is that I ride a BMW K1600GTL and I'm not offroading (duh!). I was sick and tired of the Garmin, which is still a century backwards in that I can't upload a GPX through my phone or tablet to it, in fact forcing me to carry a laptop with me on holiday or pre-plan all the rides I want to do. Now I can use the tablet to do route planning, store the route on Google Drive or whatever and use it on the road. I made a mobile hotspot on my smartphone and use that internet connection. Works perfectly! The tip for that DM2 menu/dashboard app is cool, I'm going to try that out.
Are you telling me you don't have knobbies on your K1600? 😁 Thanks for sharing, I too think a designated GPS unit like a Garmin is becoming so outdated that switching to a tablet is much better. It's possible to add a twin-sim card to the Samsung tablet as well, so you can get internet and receive calls/messages on the tab too, but using your phone as a hotspot works too. Ride safe Mike!
Nothing against your choice but the POGO pins on the Carpe Iter are not on the bottom; they are in the middle. Also, it has dual charging: besides the POGO, it has an M8 cable for redundancy. Another advantage is the ROM and firmware are made by Thork Racing, and it has a u-blox M8 (Carpe Iter Tab v4) or a u-blox M9 (Carpe Iter Tab V4b) which is a better "gps" chip (2Hz or 5Hz Updates) than what we find on normal tablets and phones, and users can even choose. And more. Not judging who doesn't want to spend so much money (I don't have it too) but its advantages to a normal tablet are considerably higher.
Nice video I use the same tablet for my navigation one thing I do that I didn’t hear you mention is I use my phones hotspot setting then my tablet has internet
Thanks for the tips, actually ended up with a used Active 2 tab with the ADV Thor holder on my KTM 690 with RebelX tower. Not completely finished with all the wiring yet, waiting for new light switches since i have the Terrier Command Gen2 switches.
Hi Johannes, thanks for the video. I have a BMW 1150 GSA. It´s a bit narrow behind the cockpit. Do you think the Brodit holder on a RAM Mount would hold the construction? Between the RAM Mount ball on the cockpit and on the Brodit holder would be a a RAM Mount connection arm in order to get a bit distance from the windshield.
Great set up if you have the space to fit it. 👍👍👍 I just use a cheap Nokia phone on my handlebars with a quad lock, works fine for me, but I am old school and just use maps to tell me where I am not how to get there, but I like the adventure of not knowing and try to work it out as I go. The only time I like using maps is in cities where I have to find a certain place but after 30 plus years of riding without a GPS system and only the last few years using one, I find the GPS maps become a distraction, instead of looking at the road ahead I keep looking at the map on my phone. Back in the day it was look at a paper map and work out in your head how to get somewhere by using your memory and road signs. Is a GPS just another technology we don’t really need ? Is it just another product to make life easier and stop people from actually thinking ? People have traveled the world for Thousands of years, some without even a map, just an idea and discovered amazing places. The Vikings done a pretty good job and that was even without a compass. 👍👍👍👍👍
You’re critical to this and I like it, makes me reflect on my use of it. I’ve done both on my travels, with and without a digital map. I have to say for my use I think the pros outweighs the cons, especially when the pace increased and I used the tablet as a tool for knowing the next corners and turns. I definitely rode faster having this tool available vs. When I just read the trail. But, as a rider one has to be able to read the trail and the surface too, so I’m definitely going to practice both. In terms of relaxed, slow paced adventuring/exploring, I must say I like it for that application too. I can read the names of the towns I’m passing by and get a much better understanding of the geography. But is it a must? Absolutely not!
very nice, nice you mentioned incoming shape and corner sharpness is very useful , using in on twisties or on any unknown road/trail....great setup, thank you for sharing, cheers V!
- In Canada, the "Samsung Active Tab 3" is 824,79 CA$, and the "Garmin Montana 700i" is 939.99CA$.To go for a budget setup I recommend instead "Lenovo Tab M8 (4th Gen)(2023)" is only 140CA$. Specs: 8inch, MediaTek A22 (Quad core; A53 @ 2.0GHz), 2GBRAM, 5100 mAh. - The Carpe-iter tablet (CI Pad v4 B) is powered by a "Mediatek Helio P60" CPU (8 cores) and not a "Samsung Exynos 9810" CPU (8 cores).
the Samsung Tab Active 3 should be much cheaper than that. Especially used. bought mine for about 150€, and if you want to spend even less, the Tab Active 2 sometimes is available used for 20-60€ if a batch of them is thrown on the marked by some agency or company.
Hi Johannes, I know that this was probably asked a hundred times. But there is no link to the Tab holder/mount you are using. Any chance anyone can point me in the right direction
Bloody excellent video , agree entirely about the tab active instead of the Carpe Iter, although Ive used a tab active 2 . 1300 Euros , absolute rip off . Regards from the UK.
Thank you so much ! That helped me a lot. I just ordered the Samsung active 3 (will come the next days) There are a couple of different Brodit-mounts availible and i was struggeling which of these holders i need to buy. Now i know what do do Thanks! Regards from germany and safe trails.
Thanks. Very nice/helpful video. Would help to put the details/name of the apps, and the link to the holder in the details. I stopped and started the video to get them, but took a bit of time. But no big deal. Thanks! Rubber side down....:-}
Thank you! I would definitely take a closer look at the available tablets before buying a GPS. I forgot to mention that you can put a sim card in these tablets as well, so it can work as your phone in emergency situations or just as your phone too.
Awesome setup! I've been using my Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 as the dashboard for my ebicycle for several months now and it works really well. Nice vid!
Brilliant video, the only thing that holds me back from setup like this is the way the screen reacts to the rain. Phones are pretty much useless in this regard (jump through the apps during the rain), has anyone got any experience with wet tablets ? Are the screens less sensitive to water - like dedicated SatNavs are ?
If you place a sheet of plastic over the screen like a zip lock bag then the screen will likely be usable. At least it works on my Garmin. You may need to tape it tight to make the screen viewable.
DMD2 has a feature to lock the screen while moving, and you do most of the panning and zooming with the controller so I haven't had any issues with the display. This tablet is made for rugged outdoor use and handles rain pretty good.
Great movie! Based on it, I have configured my own kit and it works great. The cost was negligible because it is an older Tablet, but also a Galaxy Tab Active. TomTom ended up in a drawer. Greetings from Poland.
@@JohannesDalenMC Pay attention to the locking handle with a key lock. It will not protect your tablet from theft, because the thief will simply remove it from the rubber case.
How does the Tablet handle rain? Does it not start flippin' out then? Like my iPhone does when it's raining... Any solution around this? #ktm690enduror
Hi Johanes. Thanks for the video. It helped me to switch from a gps to a tablet. Very explanatory video. I found the mount, the cable which I've ordered but I did not find the bracket that you used to fix the mount onto the bike that allows me to rotate the tablet. Can you please tell me what is the brand of that braket? Thank you so much.
Exactly what I wanted to know so many questions addressed here. My main intention is to have a thermal camera on the front of my bike since I struck a deer on my Yamaha, and just hit one with my car a few weeks ago, and probably will add a rear view camera as well. So I figured a tablet was the best option and why would I do that and not have GPS? I own the thermal camera already and have been looking at tablets in earnest this past week. Thanks from USA...
HI Johannes - thnk you; this video is exactly what I was looking for 🙂 Can I ask a couple of questions please ...1) do you know what the IP rating of the tablet is, and 2) could you possibly send me a link to the bluetooth controller that you mentioned towards the end of your video. Thank you 👍🏼
Hey Johannes, awesome video, and I think you have giving me great idea's for my android GPS set up. Like you I've looked at the Carpe-Iter units and when converting them to Australian Dollars, Wow, they are expensive. Like you, I'm sourcing a 2nd hand Samsung Active 3 or something equivalent. Can I ask, what are you using to mount your Brodit - Key Lock Non-Charging Holder (SKU 739003)? Are you using a RAM U bolt or something else, Can you please let me know how you are connecting your holder to your bar mount? How stable is it whilst riding, I'd imagine a little shakey on off-road surfaces? Great Video, well Done!
As far as I knew, cell phones and tablets with cell radios are aGPS devices. Assisted GPS needs help from cell towers to operate fully. A Garmin unit has a full blown GPS receiver with no need for external assistance to operate. Has this changed? Or is it different in Europe compared to US?
Thank you very much for the informations. I have something to ask., Is it possible whit this system to connect two helmets, the pilot and the passenger? Can they talk? Thank you very much
Brilliant! Is there a way to show the bikes info on the tablet such as fuel level, tachometer, gear, and odometer? I enjoy and appreciate your sharing your knowledge and experience. All the best
Thank you John! Yes there is, but one needs to connect a few different ‘readers’ to the bike. I don’t know all the details, but it’s the same as adding an OBD reader that get’s all the information from the ECU, and shows it in an app. The same way you can get the dashboard app that I showed in this video to show all the information.
Thanks Johannes, really great video! I did a similar setup on my BMW GS but I added also the controller for interacting with the map. How do you manage the tablet when your bike is parked in the box for long time? Are you shutting down manually or bring home for recharging? thanks

Great set up!! I had been finding out that holder, but so far I dont found anything… do you remember the model? Or rather, do you still have the purchase link!?
Hi Johannes, great video and my Tomtom550 will remain in the drawer as from now😅 Can the tablet charge on a regular 5v USB charger or should I, as you did connect it to 12v. And where precisely did you connect it to a life wire? Un saludo from Spain!
Nice video. I just wonder how you manage the battery of the tablet. Do you have some sort of profile in which you prevent draining when the motorcycle is switched off, and when pwoering up things are being switched on?
I have the same setup so i thought I'd answer this. My tablet can sit in standby for several days so I just turn off the screen when I'm stopped and charging is connected to switched power and will always keep it at 100% while riding.
Thank you for your video! Got a lot of infos, i do have here in kenya a ktm 690 enduro, my project is toget a tablet as dashboard, as you know the stock dashboard is very basic, can i plug permanently an obd2? ( i tough of sleep mode type)
Tenker også å montere active tab3 men er litt bekymret for at den kommer til å slutte å jobbe i veldig høye temperaturer. F.eks i land som Morocco, Tunis etc...
Greetings, I suspect it doesn't get as warm around your home as mine in central US. MyTab A8 is not ruggedized but I have it in a waterproof sleeve and it is held by a robust spring-loaded holder. Have you had any temperature issues with it sitting on the tank being subjected to ambient heat, sunlight, etc? My Zumo was designed to shrug off temp extremes, just curious, thanks! I was thinking possibly a perimeter sunlight deflector of some kind. My riding will be on-pavement long distances.
amazing video. I chose the same setting. but the brodit is too big for the tablet alone. and i.poasible to find a samsung case on interenet. Any idea which case could fit?
Very useful Info as Im looking for a new Navi setup right now. But Iam missing some Infos. Is the Samsung tab handshoe compatible? Update : I have a Samsung Tab my self now and I can not recomend it because it does not work with regular handshoe on and it is overheating in the sun like a regular Android phone. Brightness is also not the best in the direkt sunlight. 👎
Very interesting Johannes……thank you. I am new to the world of tablets on motorcycles, so please forgive my naivety, but do you know if there is an Apple counterpart to your Android system?
Bro, I have been thinking of doing this to my ADV bike for years now. Did you run into any issues with vibration ruining the power connector? It's the only part I am not sure of. And man I wasn't sure how it would fit, but that looks great. Good Job man.
Hi Johannes, I have noticed that on your recent trip to the Pyrenees it seems like you are no longer using the Samsung tablet but have "gone back" to using a phone mounted to the handlebar using a RAM X-grip? Can you explain why you were not using the tablet on that trip? Reason I'm asking is because I'm also considering mounting a tablet to my T7, while being doubtful if sticking to the Beeline Moto setup I currently have isn't the better option bacause of it's simplicity. One might even argue that the Beeline Moto is "more adventurous" than having a large screen with a map, although with the Beeline you do need to pre-plan your route. Unless you really go "all the way" of course and just enter 5 or so waypoints and find your way entirely based on the heading and distance to the next waypoint... :)

Hi can you give a link to the exact Borodit adapter used please ? Thanks
I've got purchased the same solution for my BMW R1200 GS LC. Together with the Wunderlinq device I can control my Active Tab with the BMW-Wonder wheel and it works very well.
may i ask how mounted the device to your gs
I want to add, that you should remember about battery degradation (it is always in charging mode), it will be happen sooner or later. And if you looking for used device - there is huge possibility, that it is not so waterproof as a brand new one (because of drops/repairs, etc.)
On the TAB3 you can remove the battery and run on power from the bike, you will need a constant power feed with a switch to isolate though.
Absolutely beautiful I'm going to copy this exact system you got here. Got my like and sub.
Happy to hear James and welcome to the ‘show’ 😁
Thanks for the video - I was looking for such a review: detailed enough but not that long. :) Would you be so kind and add the names of the equipment into the description please? It could be much easier to look locally for these products. Thanks!
Happy to hear it was helpful Chris, and thank you for the feedback regarding video length. I will update the description with the information.
Tab is Samsung Galaxy Active Tab 3
Holder by Brodit
Waterproof UsbC from Quadlock.
Thanks for the tips. Currently setting up a tablet for in car off road navigation
@Johannes Dalen. What dit you use to connect the mounting to the bike. I don’t like the RAM mount.
Hello there! It's called "Brodit". I think it's a swedish product, so perhaps not available worldwide. I googled "brodit" and several hits came up.

Hello there Steve - Sounds like you have found a perfect setup!
I too run the billett clamp that was provided by Rade Garage. Thanks for providing this information for people to see, have a great day!
Could you share your experience using quad lock with the tablet, please? Any experience with this off-road?
@@Vytasltu I tried Quadlock adhesive mount on back of tablet (strong adhesive) - it had potential - nice clean minimal solution. However I found on day 1 of a rally I attended it popped at the join of the quadlock socket (on the adhesive mount) and the Quadlock male / plug which was connected to my bike. I think when bike was on a angle / leaning and hitting bumps at force with the tablet weight it rotated off the 0 degree lock key towards 45 degrees and popped off (3 times in the first day). I have heard of one other who is happy and has not have this happen
Hi Steve,
I’d love to see some pictures of your set up as I’m definitely not happy with my Garmin choice and looking to go the tablet path
David
Pascal
Hello there Pascal, happy to hear you found the video helpful - If you have any questions feel free to ask my friend!
Where can I buy the tablet mount. I can not find the link? I found one at €55 is that a reasonable price?
Brilliant video, simple step by step parts!
How does the Bradit mount actually fit to the bike?… does it fix to a bar or with a ram Mount ?
Great stuff I am looking to do a tablet navigation solution to use apps that are more detailed
Thanks for sharing, I too think a designated GPS unit like a Garmin is becoming so outdated that switching to a tablet is much better. It's possible to add a twin-sim card to the Samsung tablet as well, so you can get internet and receive calls/messages on the tab too, but using your phone as a hotspot works too.
Ride safe Mike!
Thanks for an informative video. I assume that you post a similar one when you have chosen the Bluetooth device to control your tablet with💕😄🇸🇪
Brilliant video!!! Answers all the questions I had about going this route on my norden 901
Happy to hear, ride safe Anthony!
Love your video, i bought the same set up on my CRF 300L
Could you summarize all the apps you use ?
Thanks Johannes !
Not completely finished with all the wiring yet, waiting for new light switches since i have the Terrier Command Gen2 switches.
does adv thor ships outside norway?
Hi Johannes, thanks for the video. I have a BMW 1150 GSA. It´s a bit narrow behind the cockpit. Do you think the Brodit holder on a RAM Mount would hold the construction? Between the RAM Mount ball on the cockpit and on the Brodit holder would be a a RAM Mount connection arm in order to get a bit distance from the windshield.
Great set up if you have the space to fit it. 👍👍👍
I just use a cheap Nokia phone on my handlebars with a quad lock, works fine for me, but I am old school and just use maps to tell me where I am not how to get there, but I like the adventure of not knowing and try to work it out as I go.
Well yes yes yes, we do not need airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, and on and on. But just try to take them from the masses.
Looks great and as you say that big screen helps so much with what is coming next will be interesting to see how it does longer term ,great video 👍👍
Thanks Dale - Yes, I will keep you posted on its longevity!
very nice, nice you mentioned incoming shape and corner sharpness is very useful , using in on twisties or on any unknown road/trail....great setup, thank you for sharing, cheers V!
Thanks for watching my friend!
Thanks for this I was just about to buy the latest garmin, but I have now ordered everything you have got a better setup and a fraction of the price
Thank you, Johannes. so well explained!
What bracket do you have to hold it onto the small bar ?
I've been waiting for this video for a long time. Pefect setup! Good luck in your next adventure.
I’m glad I could deliver John, thanks for your kind words!
Hello there Martin! Very happy to hear you found this helpful - an android device is incredible for this task.
Safe riding to you too 😊
Hi what Mount do I need?
Thanks. Very nice/helpful video.
Would help to put the details/name of the apps, and the link to the holder in the details.
I stopped and started the video to get them, but took a bit of time.
But no big deal.
Thanks! Rubber side down....:-}
Very nice setup 👌
I've been considering the Garmin options but will look at Androids now too, cheers from Australia 🙂
Thank you! I would definitely take a closer look at the available tablets before buying a GPS. I forgot to mention that you can put a sim card in these tablets as well, so it can work as your phone in emergency situations or just as your phone too.
@@JohannesDalenMC You talked abut a bluethooth option is that on this tablet ?
Hilsen Eivind
Thank you Johannes this video was very helpful I hadn’t considered a tablet so I will see what I can get second hand thank you . Nigel
Happy it was helpful Nigel!
I never knew any of this, Absolutely Superb! Thank you
Lovely man. Nice and clear. I'm going to go with this set up. 👍🏻
Thank you Jim! Let me know what you think when you have it installed and tried it. If you have any questions let me know :)
Great movie! Based on it, I have configured my own kit and it works great. The cost was negligible because it is an older Tablet, but also a Galaxy Tab Active. TomTom ended up in a drawer. Greetings from Poland.
That's awesome Lukasz, happy to hear! Thanks for the greetings from Poland - ride safe!
I haven’t tried it myself, but there is an app that locks the screen while it’s on. I’ve read about people using that with great success.
you have a screen lock in the settings (horizontal / vertical)
Hi @Jonannes, could you share the way that you connected the tabletholder to the bike itself?
Exactly what I wanted to know so many questions addressed here. My main intention is to have a thermal camera on the front of my bike since I struck a deer on my Yamaha, and just hit one with my car a few weeks ago, and probably will add a rear view camera as well. So I figured a tablet was the best option and why would I do that and not have GPS? I own the thermal camera already and have been looking at tablets in earnest this past week. Thanks from USA...
Happy it was helpful James!
You can waterproof the Ram mount with electronics gel, there’s a good video on it
Hi - That's a really cool set up. Nice job, Mike @ Rally Navigator
Hi Mike, thanks a lot 😁
HI Johannes - thnk you; this video is exactly what I was looking for 🙂 Can I ask a couple of questions please ...1) do you know what the IP rating of the tablet is, and 2) could you possibly send me a link to the bluetooth controller that you mentioned towards the end of your video. Thank you 👍🏼
Great video Johannes! Just orderna a used Samsung tab Active today. 😀
That’s great Kalle, I’m very happy with mine still 😁
It would be very interesting for me what are your long time experiences to navigate with the tablet, in terms of power connection, vibrations....
Did you end up getting a BT controller sorted? There are some forum discussions about using an R1 Bluetooth remote with DMD2 if you go hunting.
Did you buy one? Wondering same .
Thanks a great help made my mind up about, how to get my personal set up orghanised
Priceless info and really useful. Thanks.
Happy to hear my friend!
This tablet must be nice for your DJI drone too i wanna go for this setup my self thx for a great video 👌
I don’t have a drone just yet, but that is on the list of things to get 😁
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Johannes, really great video! I did a similar setup on my BMW GS but I added also the controller for interacting with the map. How do you manage the tablet when your bike is parked in the box for long time? Are you shutting down manually or bring home for recharging? thanks
Hi Johannes, Thks for the good info.
1 question, where and what ip 67 waterproof usb c cable is needed?
Can you send me some more details about to charge the tab 3
Regards Richard
exelent explained. please one question: what usb c cable do you use? is it a special water protect usb plug?
kind regards and ride safe
Great vid and nice bike. Looks like the rade tower. Can you confirm the brodit model and parts required to fit to nav bar.
I've been thinking of this myself. Awesome solution imo.
I couldn’t be happier with this setup, it’s excellent!
thanks for sharing. Can Y tell how the mount did till now ,the tilt etc ?
Hi greeting from Indoonesia. New subs and have watched some of your great videos. Wondering if you have had use the remote bluetooth already? I need device recomendation, installation and so on.
Thank you
Great set up!!
Well put together and presented, nice vid :)
Excellent video, many thanks!
Hello sir, great video! Do you know what the part is for mounting the tablet to the cilinder (bracket of your bike)?
Very interesting Johannes……thank you.
I am new to the world of tablets on motorcycles, so please forgive my naivety, but do you know if there is an Apple counterpart to your Android system?
Nice video … (super bulky hardware though) I suspect that with chigee , we can get similar functionality on smaller hardware
Well, you do want the screen to be large so it's easy to read though, so smaller isn't always better.
