    If the driver had info about the dpf on the car media system such as how full the dpf is . 20% 50% 90% , he could take the car on a drive before the yellow drive to clear light comes on. A diagnostic machine can see how full the dpf is , so there is no reason why the car industry could not give this info on the dash . This would solve 99% of issues. Not knowing is the problem . It takes more than 30 miles drive 70mph in 5th gear to get the dpf to 0 % . Many drivers never complete a full dpf registration.

It seems to me, DIY mechanics are buying scan tools to Do DPF regens without knowledge it might be something else.. I’ve had multiple regen’s, pressure sensor and pipe replaced and a couple of DPF cleans but still have the same issue. Garage is now telling me I need a new DPF… Seems no matter how many times they clear the codes they come back and it is also reporting glowplug sensor issue.

    Our Isuzu Dmax kept doing regens to the point that it was trying to do one every time you fricking drove the thing. And the garage tried doing forced regens and lecturing us on "try going on long drives". I ended up finding the fricking problem myself, one of the boost pipe clamps was loose, so i would presume that would cause the regen not to get upto temp because of poor air to fuel mixture. (Weirdly the truck never threw up a over or underboost code and drove ok, but did feel slightly different on power.
    Something to watch out for on Isuzu Dmax's is oil dilution from diesel, running rich from regen and it washing your pistons and seeps past the rings into the oil. Ours was over an inch higher than max on the dipstick. It's a common problem and Isuzu know about it, their solution.. A shorter dipstick and two max marks, one for when you fill with oil after a service and one after you have driver it and the oil has crept up because of diesel dilution. their solution is pretty comical tbh until someones engine blows up.

    • @LucasVWGolfR
      @LucasVWGolfR ปีที่แล้ว

      If you had a boost leak then the engine would be overfuelling to compensate for the leak, which would cause the DPF to fill up more quickly than normal.
      Good to hear you fixed it. A good idea is to change the oil after an issue like this due to the oil dilution as you mentioned.

    • @MrZimmaframe

    Hi we have spent 2 years getting our Citroen relay camper van registered in France following our move from UK. Finally just got registered 😀 Unfortunately 🥲we then had a problem with grey smoke and van went to limp mode. We had the dpf cleaned by our local garage in France and the problem is back after 2 months, still smoke but not in limp mode. We are not sure if to take back to our local french garage that did dpf clean or take to a Citroen garage.

    • @CamperVanTango
      @CamperVanTango ปีที่แล้ว

      We took back to our local garage in France after it's full dpf clean, new radiator, full service and new tyres 🥲, we then only did 400km and it still lost 4litres of water, so we think there's another problem not just dpf Garage now think it is injectors quoted 1800 euro for 4 injectors replacement and includes diagnosis that its 3 injectors. We wanted to know if injectors are usually checked in a service. . We said is it possible also to check if there is a fault with egr cooler as well first in case there's a bigger issue because it is strange how it lost so much water (although it hasn't overheated as such). Garage replied it doesn't have an egr. He said it's one of three different motor types and this one doesn't have an egr, for our 2014 Citroen relay Ford engine. My husband was fairly sure it does have egr cooler but garage still has vehicle at moment. So we don't know what to do. Our worry is if we pay 1800 euros and it ends up an underlying problem causing injectors. We also asked is there a way of checking if it's the head gasket, garage says no unless they remove the head gasket first which will take 6hours they can't tell there's no test for it? We just want to know if this sounds reasonable/sensible/logical solution. We want to take it for a second opinion but are frightened to drive it in case it does more damage. It does drive at moment but lots of light grey smoke and losing water.

      @@CamperVanTango its seems the garage is giving you wrong advice. I'm assuming your engine is a 2.2? Its ludicrous for the garage to suggest this does not have an egr. Also there are various tests fir checking the water leak. The first should be a pressure test and then following a leak down test.
