Ducati already offers a 170hp Pikes Peak version of its Multistrada V4 range, but if that wasn't mad enough, take a look at this: Ducati's Multistrada V4 RS which is fitted with the same engine as the Streetfighter V4 and produces 180hp, or 192 if you fit the full race exhaust. That makes it the fastest motorbike in the world that has panniers.
And our shy and retiring road tester, Adam 'Chad' Child, accepted the invitation to ride it on track in Italy a few weeks ahead of its official world premiere.

Had my Streetfighter for 3 years now not a single issue apart from a set of tyres and excessive about of fuel used. Wish I could afford this beauty would make a nice replacement or addition 😍

There are adventure bikes and there are sport tourers. This is a sport tourer. Sport touring segment is where I am at this moment in my life. Used to enjoy mental day rides on superbikes and nakeds, but now I love some comforts and multi-day all day trips on paved roads. My favorite road bike is Gen 3 SuperDuke R, for me the definition of power on the street is how easily bike lifts the front without having to rev it like an F1 engine. This is where torque comes in. I owned and tracked Pani V4S for 3 years (mine had dry clutch also) , rode Pikes Peak V4 and V4S Street fighter for extended periods and SDR is so much better than any of these on the street mostly due to its torque and much lower rpm engine for me personally. It just can’t do touring in a good way. I can’t wait for the new 1390 GT. If your use is outright sport and for some reason you want this form factor I think it could be great, but if you are a true sport tourer I would not go for one. It looks awesome though.

Dear TheSuperpod. Honestly… you are right, a SDR engine is fantastic and the best for street riding. And the bike looks great. BUT, everything else around this engine is not really convincing. I owned a SDR for three years, rented a Super Adventure many times and I simply had too many breakdowns and other issues with these bikes. Finally the components, especially the suspension is not on the level of the Öhlins… So why not go for a RS 😜?

2:30 As a proud owner of a 22 Multi V4S THIS here is what I've dreamed of. 👏 Well done Ducati. I said Id like the Pani V4 w/ its valves and all in this frame. Give me the full freight. Im addicted to speed so i need this. Its still no Pani, but hot damn you stick two riders one on a stock pani and this and id argue, id probably spank the Pani on the streets, On the freeway he'd probably trounce me on the Vmax which was 160 on my Multi, i rode what I'm buying yesterday w/ 6 miles and didn't want to max it out prior to break in but id bet this thing can do 175 maybe 180 v max which still falls short of 200 on my Pani V4S. But your doing all this in comfort! 💥

I had a MT10 before. It has 140Hp and most often, I ride it on Road mode taking away a good 10-15 HP from Sport Mode. Even that configuration, i barely could get to 6th gear for the road condition i drive. I could not imagine with this Ducati Multistrada RS Hp of 196. Maybe i will be stuck to 3rd or 4th gear the entire ride 😂😂😂

This sort of bike really provides the essence of motorcycling. I'd recommend every one who rides to own something like this that forces them to ride slower at some point. It really does remind you that whilst ultimate performance is fun, it absolutely isnt always necessary. And there's no shame in it, lets face it, we'd all have a bike for every occasion if we could and this would be a contender for one of many "slots".
Good on you Dan, hope you both carry on enjoying it.

Get this and the Pikes Peak version along side the M 1000 XR THE only down side for me personally is that the BMW fell short as they ignored the hard panniers as an option defeats the object really it’s an easy fix next time they do the update

Rather, Ducati looked over at BMW and the upcoming XR1000M and said "Oh shit!"--in Italian, of course. So the RS. But has anyone seen the secret Ducati-issued dyno power curves of these two motors to 10,000 RPMs laid over each other? The standard V4 motor out-powers the RS by LOTS (15-18 HP) all the way up till 10,000 rpms. No doubt IF you are running the RS to 13,5000 RPM--it will be thrilling. But with passenger, luggage, in 5th gear rolling out of town--will standard motor (with full Race exhaust and mapping) give the proper shove with superior torque. They will gear down the RS--but maybe too much/more frenetic and viberation? Area under the curve where you ride it matters a bit more on a tourer than Streetfighter.

No need for that kind of hp on a bike like this. The focus should be more on low down torque, as grunt is far more practical on a tour bike. But that wouldn't be as sexy would it and Ducati are always trying so, so hard to be sexy.

It also needs the tank off the Rally for that amount of money for a semblance of range. A poseur special to be seen at the Ace Cafe next Spring, after multiple stops from Hackney filling it up….
