I adopted Seamus so many years ago, and (Spanish) Charlie (he passed in 2009) and Turkish Carli (from the tv show) and orang oetan Amy, Gordon's mom, and the babies Pip and Ben. It's good to see them again. They are all big now!

We visited there in 2010. It is an amazing place. Got to meet Jeremy who is the most passionate and kindest soul. What a privilege.

I discovered Monkey Life around season 7 and watched through the end of season 13, the last one available now. So I decided to find season 1 and start from the very beginning.
Very interesting to see how everything started, and get to see Jim although sadly for far too short of a time. Seeing Jeremy and John Lewis and Alison in their younger years is fun too.
You can really tell they have learned an awful lot over the years, even though they did amazing work in the early years to get the park as developed as it was by the time they began filming these episodes. A few differences I've noticed between this S2 episode (I believe filmed around 2007-2008) and S13 around 2020 since the pandemic had just begun:
1) Introductions are managed more carefully, one on one instead of a new/young member meeting a lot of other monkeys all at once like happened with Bryan and the chimps.
2) Feeding treats evolved so they now spread a lot more food around but in multiple smaller quantities so everyone has a chance to get some and it reduces competition over larger treats that only one or two can access at a time.
3) I can't believe Jeremy was in a space with so many chimps at one time, especially grown ones and very boisterous young males like Seamus! I don't think sanctuaries and zoos allow humans in with chimps past a young age anywhere now that we know how volatile and dangerous chimps can be. It's wild seeing Jeremy in the middle of all the chimp mayhem, and even though I knew he would be safe I was a bit uncomfortable seeing him there. Chimps are something like 7 or 10 times as strong as an adult male human, and Jeremy could easily get hurt even accidentally since Seamus plays so rough.
I wonder when Monkey World phased out humans being in with the chimps? Guess I'll keep watching and find out!
It's really enjoyable learning the back stories of many of the monkeys and apes I saw in later seasons. Allison, Jeremy and all the other caring staff deserve so much credit for carrying Jim's mission on, making it their own, and building Monkey World up to a world renowned sanctuary and park that is a huge success. It's a great tribute to Jim Cronin and although its been many years, I can tell in later seasons how much Allison still loves and misses him.
I can't believe how close y'all are to the apes and how patient y'all are to be able to sit with them in the nursery its beautiful we're are y'all monkeys tho I see the apes?
I love Sally, she really is very gentle and a great allomother!!! If chimps can be allomothers!! Lol 🤣😭 Jeremy is a pure ANGEL!!

@9:38 Baby Chimp Bryan (I think that's his name) is rocking back and forth which is a tell-tale sign that he is very stressed and not liking his new environment

I really enjoy any footage of the Orangutans & any unheard monkeys. Although I like Chimps, they're a bit too loud & chaotic for me. But I love listening to the Orangutans stories; I didn't know anything about Wooly monkeys & the "ugly maqaques (?)". They're really not ugly - they're actually cute, even when they're fat. I look forward to learning about monkeys I've never heard of, hopefully!🙂

@@gigicostlow4414 no they are not. Season 1 goes up to ep 19. There are still so many events in season 1 not covered yet

@@DG-zv4bl I googled it because I thought there were more than 14 episodes. But there isn't. Season 1 ends with the death of Jim Cronin. There are 20 episodes in season 2. It makes sense that they would end season 1 when they did. Jim's death was unexpected. I'm sure Allison didn't want to be making a tv show right after her husband died.

Poor Bryan, why wouldn't they introduce him little at a time (like in a cage next to them first ) or one monkey at a time. And why aren't there any trees in the big enclosures?
The trees are in their outside area.
Will the new one have to be bottle fed to get his milk every day?
Every day??? As infants, primates need to be fed every couple hours.
I see so many ppl mistreating monkeys. They post on TH-cam often. How do we go about getting them help? There are so many ppl who treat them like people and not like the animals they are.

Jim died in 2007 from liver cancer. These are all old videos

That’s so messed up that this zoo have all these specific primates that come on the yard together. But they only put a couple treats out for them, it’s like the zoo is encouraging them to fight.

If you give them trees they use them to escape the enclosure by bending them over walls.

If you put them in a outside invirament they would have more room and

The animals live outside so I don't know what you are on about. Introductions take place inside in a controlled environment where they can easily be separated if necessary. Once all that is done they live outside. Being outside has nothing to do with it.

It's a simple fact of life that not every human or animal or a genius.
Should allow an orphaned baby Orangutan be raised with orphaned baby Chimps, and see if their adult behavior is more aggressive?
