So sad to lose an animal you've taken care of and grown to love over the years. It's devastating. These people are literally angels on earth. They truly love these apes and monkeys.
Thanks for posting, I know these are old, but I am really enjoying watching them! This one got me straight through the heart tho, I've been searching for this episode to see what happened with Aris...watching Charlie go and now Aris...oh my...but I do love these videos - Thanks so much!
Thank you for caring for Aris . He is a beautiful boy. I know the other animals will miss him as well as the staff. I'm sure the staff and viewers have fun memories of this guy. May he live on in your hearts .
I love Monkey World. But sadly they made a mistake with Aris and the young male chimp who was introduced to the alpha in a small room with his sister. Males, sub adult or adult, are simply not accepted by the dominant male who has a harem of females, unless they are HIS OFFSPRING. It would have taken a long time, or probably he would never have been able to live with another dominant male orangutan and the same with Chimps. This is captivity...but as they say these animals will always be wild animals. What I'm saying is they introduce the young ones to the group too quick and when it goes wrong.. It's bad for everyone and expensive. They should reread Jane Goodall's textbook AGAIN. I read it and it really says it all about Chimps. What happens when a sub adult or adult male is suddenly introduced or wanders into a set community of Chimps? Well...what happens is they higher ups attack and kill the intruder. This won't change simply because they are being fed by humans daily. It's hard wired.
Thank you for airing this episode! We knew Aris had passed but we never did get to see the actual episode of it. So thank you for going back and airing it, even if it is out of order.
Some of my family think it's silly how I've gotten all wrapped up in this so much that I cried over the passing of Aris. I loved little Aris, then bigger Aris! Oh, thats just a soap opera to get hooked on. I'm not hooked on soaps or any other series. On you tube or TV except this one. It's been a long time since I have. Plus they don't have the love for primates like I do and they keep forgetting it's "REAL" not some made up story or short like so many you tube videos are. I've got some nice pics of him that I'll enjoy looking at along with all the others. So sad he had to go but we didn't know what he was feeling if anything. He may have been in excruciating pain or in a vegetative state. That's when it would be nice if they all could learn to sign. Then they could give us some kind of clue. He fought hard like a champion but when comes down to it, we all knew the humane thing to do. As heartbreaking as it is, and it's the same every time there's a loss. And a great loss it is. Go rest high Aris! We all love you!!😔😭💔💖💕Prayers sent for all the Monkey World staff. You guys are truly the best. My heart and sympathy over the loss of our good friend Aris.🙏
I ABSOLUTELY love this and watching all of the different personalities Monkey World has with their monkeys ... I'm in love .... Thank you!! ❤ RIP Arias 😢

You can explain to humans what they need to do for rehabilitation after having a stroke, but how can you explain it to non-humans? Thank you for taking care of them and Thank you for making the hard decisions.
It's amazing to me that these chimps who evolved to live in tropical Africa can be so comfortable outdoors in the UK during autumn or winter. I know they don't sleep outdoors but even the time they do spend impresses me. Imagine if humans tried to do that without clothing!!
This unfortunate orangutan was named ARIS. He was well loved and whoever writes these headlines should show some respect . I know that no one associated with the park would be so thoughtless. Everyone in the facility deserves our gratitude. Thank you all. Jerry
Woolly Monkey babies are the cutest babies EVER! 😍🥰 Hananya and Butch - their displays are incredible! And Aris....beautiful little baby Aris - so very sad.💔😭 RIP Aris †🌹†
The sight of Aris trapped within his immobility was horrible. I am aware that primates are vulnerable to strokes, but seeing it is a shock to the senses. I am sure his care was best for him. Happy playing in heaven mate. ❤❤❤
I too struggle with the notion that any anesthetic is a (significant) risk in these primates. When I trained, the vets did their theoretical anesthesia training with the human practitioners. I wish I’d taken the opportunity to inquire more about risk in veterinary medicine wrt anesthesia. I guess I was preoccupied with learning how to conduct safe, balanced anaesthetics in my human patients.
They're sent to Asia to high end dinner clubs. Where business men and social lights spend upwards of a 100k to dine on several different endangered species in a variety of courses. Tigers, sun bears, Komodo dragons, Sulawesi macaques, orangutans, gorillas, both kinds of pangolin, sturgeon, the list goes on and on. I doubt they ever put it down, 4 yr old " stroke" victim, from knee surgery? They made it comatose so it's easier to open its skull and eat it fresh. You can say I'm disgusting or I'm fucking with you. I'm being 100 percent serious I've been to the east many times thru the early 2000 to today and one of the first times I went to western China I was taken out by business contacts where the restaurant had living macaques in the center of tables. Where the guest hits the thing with a hammer and the server opens the skull and you eat the brains with chopsticks. I was there for about 30 secs and wanted to throw up. The local markets in Asia and Africa are the worst things I've ever seen. Thank god for zoom because there are a lot of fucked up customs out there.
