Mine too! This is easily my favorite elder dinosaur! I love that it can be a good and fun commander or a great card in a deck! Etali might be my new favorite commander, and It's definitelly my new favorite red card! Etali is so interesting, unique, and wants you to do my favorite thing to do, which is attack over and over again!
Had her(?) in my r/w Pre-release deck and was quite happy since I fell for her the moment that she was revealed! Not to beat the big drum, but I might do a video on Etali too, if she turns out to be an "underplayed commander" (only time will tell)!
Me too! I loved this card as soon as I saw it and wanted to make a commander deck based around it! I'm replacing my Neheb deck for Etali, because I don't want two mono red decks. Etali is a combat based commander, which is what I like the most, and I think Etali is much more interesting than Neheb. Luckily a lot of the cards that I had in my Neheb deck will fit in my Etali deck, so it won't cost much to build it.
One of the problems with adding steal effect into Etali is that if you hit said steal effect off of his trigger, those stolen creatures will miss the declare attackers step. So things like insurrection and Molten Primordial, while are very good red spells, actually fall rather flat if you hit it off Etali. I have the same problem with the Geosurge and other red rituals in this deck because unlike Narset, you cannot wait to cast these cards. If you want to cast cards off of Etali, then you ignore timing restrictions and cast them after his trigger is finished resolving, (you do NOT have the "may cast these until the end of turn" clause). So hitting a ritual off of Etali is almost as bad as hitting a land, unless you have something to dump mana into at instant speed.
Oh yeah! Storm would be really good in an Etali deck! Haha! Oh that is perfect that a commander with storm in the name goes really well with the Storm mechanic!
A word of warning about seize the day and relentless assault - they do not work if cast off an Etali trigger, you must cast them during a main phase due to their phrasing (check the gatherer rulings for seize the day for confirmation). Still great inclusions, but an interaction that is unintuitive and likely to come up during gameplay.
Hey I've been watching you for quite awhile. Your videos are pretty good keep it up =). Okay on to my two statements slash questions. For Narset I know strionic resonator works for her making you go 8 cards instead of four. Wouldn't it work for this commander? And wouldn't illsionionst bracers do the same? So your potential casting if they're four players 12 cards.....
I've noticed that people have almost no board wipes in these deck techs. I know board wipes aren't great in an Etali deck since you could exile one off the top at the wrong time, which wastes a trigger and a board wipe, but why aren't people at least playing Pyrohemia?
Love your Content:) can you do a ramos spell slinger Deck? With All about Casting Spells with cascade, Copy Spells, fer free casts and so on. Kind regards from Germany
I was thinking the same thing. I'm debating building an Iroas deck or not. If I do though I want to put Etali in it. The problem is fitting it in since It's a six drop, and I already have a good number of high drop creatures that I want for the deck, and I don't want too many for a commander that wants to attack with a lot of creatures.
You might have already though of this, but here's a tip for your Iroas deck. You can use Pyrohemia so that you have a recurring board wipe that won't kill your creatures if you have Iroas out and you trigger it while you're attacking.
Do you mean Etali or Pyrohemia? If someone is playing Etali in a 1v1 game I don't know what they are doing. I like that Pyrohemia is a flexible board wipe for killing creatures, and can be used over and over again, especially to kill a bunch of small creatures, like a swarm a tokens that token decks keep creating. If Pyrohemia sticks around, it will destroy token decks! Sure it takes a lot of mana to initially board wipe, but I think It's worth it since you have a constant ability to wipe the board, you're dealing more damage from it than you are taking, and Iroas as I mentioned protects your creatures from Pyrohemia during combat. I don't see how that's not worth it. What board wipes do you play over Pyrohemia in an Iroas deck?
Etali as 1 of the 99 in Maelstrom is gonna be gross. Play Maelstrom, stack to get a free Etali, and then swing Etali b/c Maelstrom haste and get another free card? Oh and of course the second cascade from Maelstrom....
Lol my planeswalker deck has my perfect counter to the sun. Whoever plays it suffers in the next few games. Once stopped a friend from casting 1 spell one time he got on my bad side xD
This Channel is so underrated, I've watched like 6 videos and this is by far the best etali deck by far.
I just love Etali! Be it as general of part of the 99. Pure class and my favorite Elder-Dino so far!

I was considering building a Deck around that behemoth. This has lots of great cards! Thank you!
i built mine as a half storm half value build and its fantastic. add strionic resonator

Care to share the deck?
I'm going to blame you for all the Etali decks I keep seeing in MTGO. xD
Added Etali into my Yidris edh. Lots of fun from it so far!

conduit of the storm might be worth considering

What if you added a helm of the host
Gonna try out this dino in my Iroas commander deck

Probably not worth a slot in a 1v1 game, but in a 4 player game or 2 headed giant could be interesting

Pyrohemia & lightmine field can be very effective not hitting your creatures and can easily wipe the board repeatedly

Don't hate the activated ability of the hammer you never know when you 4 damage away from victory or the o shit chumper
