I carefully removed my windshield, packed it in blankets, and hid it away somewhere safe. Went out to take a measurement and it was cracked. My guess is that the padding I used to support the curve settled and it’s own weight cracked it. Interesting that the new glass is lighter. They should call it “high performance” weight saving and they could charge us double.
Sorry about the windshield, a little pressure on the edge of the glass is all it takes nowadays. Luckily I was able to reuse my old one although having to polish it to get a ton of scratches out of it . I heard aftermarket glass is thinner as well contributing to seal issues Studs are a great idea, I had to use my head to hold the lid as I was trying to start one of the bolts. studs wound have aligned it as well as supporting it, I was laughing at the end as if I would spray my convertible like you did I am sure I would get all sorts of leaks, Looking forward to the 72
About the 72, the owner wanted to help and didn’t want to be on video. Now that it’s running maybe his son will agree to a walk around. He must trust my work, I understand he drove it to Seattle (180 mi) this weekend.
Enjoy… Don’t over do, you may suffer “Don overload.” I once asked my wife if she had watched my videos. With a funny look on her face she retorted “why would I do that?” 😂
Thanks for the help on the 72, Don!
Folks on this channel wanted to see the convertible, maybe we can arrange a quick video walk around.
@@donsmanufactory sounds great! I'll probably have it back down there around the end of the month.

👍😀 Don’t give em any ideas. I considered the Scott Drake $885.00 version complete with factory markings. I wonder if they are thick like OEM?
@@donsmanufactory I wouldn't bet on it. Probably the same window you got with added markings.

@@donsmanufactory NP, it was just an assumption on my part. Hope you can snap a few pics. Hope all is goes well with the reunion.
There’s going to come a point where I watch these vids over and over again, once I’m caught up.
Enjoy…

Is the windshield cracked on the passenger side?
Driver’s side lower corner.
Sorry to hear about the windshield. Hopefully it helps me and others in the future. Question for you, how do you know the paint is still shrinking?
The surface continues to look rougher. The smooth polish I did is not as glossy smooth now. It still gasses off when it’s parked in direct sunlight.
