      If you are a beginner you will be playing a smaller game and people act different. Don't try to learn from an edited TH-cam video. Go play small and work your way up. If you want to read a book, read one about mindset of successful poker rather than one about how to play cards in situations. Learn some math but realize odds are never 100 percent until they are 100 percent

    • @JohnSmith-gu6hf

      @@ders972 I have no intention of play poker for large sums of money. I think it takes the fun out of the game. Most people in small games respond differently to betting as well. They don't think about odds or ranges. They will chase after flushes/ straights, bet big on second and third pairs, call everything, call huge preflop raises with 4,5 o, etc. bluffing often isn't that successful when playing against 3 or 4 of these types of players. I have found that very tight play, which is not as much fun, is often more successful. But if someone else has a better suggestion, I am all ears.

    Ethan, why bet small on river with 5h6d when flush comes in? You beat so many value hands and spr is so low that what are you going to do, bet fold the river? If you run into a flush you run into a flush. He’s calling all sets and maybe some 2 pair plus. You should be for sure shoving. By the way you describe it you say you’re going to bet small here “in case you run into a flush” yet that opens doors for opponent to bluff shove river. Just seems stupid dude. If your getting called your called. If he’s check folding he’s check folding. By betting that small w spr at less than 1 you open up to getting blown off the hand. Btw your the same dude who folded set of,aces to me on the river at the brook when I had Kh9d. 😊😊😳🙈

    • @gs6810
      @gs6810 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@antmespo Because decisions aren't made based on what the opponent had in hindsight, you don't know what he has when you make the decision. You put together a range of likely hands. Then you created a weighted average you chance to win based on the occurrence of those hands (ie 6 possible combinations of X, 12 combinations of Y, etc.) and you equity vs that whole range. Any of the sets were in his opponents range and he was like 12% to win vs a set. All the other hands his opponent holds are combo draws and he would be between 55-49% to win. Overall vs his opponents range, without doing the exact math, he's probably about 38-40% to win. In that range, basically best case scenario he's flipping a coin and worst case scenario he's punting a huge amount of money. The risk to reward isn't there. Even vs the hand his opponent had he was 49% to win. His opponent made a good play, and he made a bad call. Long run those kinds of calls are lighting money on fire.

    Hey Ethan, I had a very similar scenario, as far as cards go, when I played 2/5 at the Cherokee in Tulsa OK. It was uncapped, and this one guy had bought in for $1000 (where most of us bought in for $500), and I had just taken him off for at least $200 the previous hand, where I'd 3-bet to $60 pre-flop. I hadn't even finished stacking up my chips from the previous hand, when I did that again. He cold-called the 60, and the original raiser also called. The flop came out J-10-2. It was checked to me and I bet $300 (probably way too much in retrospect), and the guy that I'd beaten in the last pot, ripped it all in for his final 700+, and my thought process was the same as yours, Ethan, when I said "Unless you flopped a set..." I didn't even finish the sentence, but made the call. The last two cards were, I believe, a nine and a trey. When I showed my queens, he was really pissed, and mucked his cards. Someone told me that he had Ace-Jack. Regardless, that was a huge pot, and let to the biggest poker win I ever had. That last hand you had in this video reminded me of that hand. Hope you don't mind the length ☺ Great video!

    Why you run it once. When a guy wants to run it twice it means you are always ahead. You need to think about this in the future

    Was there playing 1/2 the night they recorded this. Chips are so faded can't tell if it's a 1 or 5$ chip. Solution? Mo rake for new chips probably.
    All in all though, 1/2 at pbkc can often play like 2/5 or more.

    If you are gonna jeopardize 5k with an overpair in a pot you only have a couple hundred in you are most likely 60/40 so why run it twice? run it once or fold. calling and running it twice is pointless. i think folding is the best option there because the worst hand he would have is a pair and a flush draw or overcard and a flush draw which both are 40 percent to win against you. all other hands he would be going all in with there beat your overpair.

      @@RampagePoker 1 time or 3 time. atleast someone will win money everytime. running it twice splits happen 90 percent of time.
