Dixie was very loved by your family. People who don't understand what had to be done aren't a working farm people. I cried through the goodbyes. Love your family. Dogs post amputation actually bounce back and recover fairly easily all things considered. Way better than humans. People have reactions more related to emotions and the habits we’ve developed throughout our life. Animals react to things with instincts and they adapt well just like they would have to in nature.

As someone that has 6-7k in my dogs leg, I wouldn’t do it again. She was kicked in her back leg, the fracture went up to her hip as well. They did a bone graph from her shoulder for her hip joint. She now has a lot of arthritis in it now and I think she would of been better off with it amputated off.
She is my heart dog, or I wouldn’t of spent that on her or any dog honestly.

Brandon you are not a cry baby, you are compassionate. I had a dog many years ago she was a LabradorxWhippet she was short and fat and ran like hell, she was also the best mother to 2 litters of puppies. I woke up one morning to find her on the kitchen floor in a puddle of pee unable to move, she was 15yrs and 1week old. I was present at her birth and at her death. My heart still breaks when I think about her and it kills me when I see injured/dying animals online but I know you've done your best to help and you want nothing but the best for all your animals.
To all who follow this family’s journey homesteading please treat them with kindness and respect just like you would for any family who lost a human family member. Dixie was a part of their family and they are all heartbroken. Please don’t add any additional pain to them by rude comments. If you can’t say anything good keep your mouth closed and don’t say anything. I believe in a Christian Christ-like love is in order now. We love each of the Eddy family and are so thankful and blessed for their willingness to share their lives even when critics bad mouth them. Unless you have farmed you have no clue what they should do.

My quality of life is way lessened to. I have chronic Lyme disease for the last ten years. Drs didn’t know what it was back then. I just had my second heart attack 4 months ago and it was massive. I had ten stents put in. I should not have made it but for Jesus I did. So I’m on borrowed time myself with much less quality of life. But I am still here now to tell my son I love him everyday. It’s worth the extra days I have. I’m glad Dixie is still alive and taking care of her pups if she is able. And please Brandon, stop living your life on what people will say. Every video you comment on what will be said. Forget negative remarks. Do what needs to be done and forget them. Do your best and forget them. Forget them.

It’s one thing this happened it’s another that you have that poor dog in the back with the horrendous pain she is suffering and making her stand ..this isn’t TH-cam worthy. It’s sad and my heart goes out to that poor little girl.
He can't stop talking about himself, the dog provoking his own injuries, too much extra care, rejects pain medicine and of couse cost. Making her suffer through the extremely long rides. Tragic loss.

I hope you keep Dixie in a cleaner environment than you did your other dog when she was spayed. The pups are old enough to be weaned. Dixie will need all her strength to recover, nursing pups is going to drag her down. This isn’t a hateful post. I’ve been raising and showing dogs for over 30 years. What I said is just the facts.
