Additionally it might also be known that rheas may actually be more closely related to ostriches than to oceanian ratites, since rheas are more similar to ostriches than other ratites in addition to the continents that they currently live in (Africa and South America) having split apart after the extinction of the non-avian dinosaurs.
I'm 34 and I'm today years old when i found out about this bird. I know ostriches, emus cassowaries and volunteered at the bird section of the Malaysian zoo
I just realized Ben takes Kevin’s eggs and suddenly it makes sense why Kevin has a vendetta. It’s basically swiper no swiping. I wonder if Ben let kevin try and incubate, their relationship would heal?
This video says that “rheas are a bit harder to tell apart from emus”, and then mentions feather shape as the only obvious difference. I don’t think rheas are at all difficult to tell apart from emus. The feather shape is a difference, but not the most obvious difference. Emus are grayish-brown with sort of baldish heads that are mostly black and blue, and they have little stubs instead of wings. Rheas are gray all over with fuzzy heads and large wings like ostriches. To me, the two species look very different. But maybe I’m just too much of an animal nerd. 🤓
The wings are the most obvious. Emus basically have no forelimbs whatsoever just little atrophied nubs. Rhea have big honkin limbs they can spread out, touch the ground with them, flap them around.
Rheas are definitely easy to distinguish from Emus. Emus don't have any forelimbs whatsoever!!!!!!! They have like tiny sticks with no muscles. Rheas have magnificent forearms they can spread out and touch the ground with.
Well Well Well Well Well, look at all The Kevin fans coming here to learn about Rhea's. Me included. 😉😅 Thank you, Animal Fact Files & Urban Rescue Ranch!
I've heard they're more aggressive during mating season and when taking care of their young and that they tend to be mellower in the winter. It also depends on the temperament/personality of each individual bird.
Rheas are so cute! We love their impressive wings! What do you think of these flightless birds?
Pls do Sumatran Rhino 🙂
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yea theyre awesome! Tv documenteries barely show
Kevin needs an entire documentary dedicated to Kevin.
Agreed. I also came here trying to figure out the enigma that is Kevin
@@Annimations Can't solve Kevin because he's a psychopath.

You forgot their favourite food: glizzies.
Those are not Rhea's those are Kevin's and Karen's.

Never heard of that bird before Kevin
They dont only live just in south-america anymore. There is a growing rhea population in northern germany.
And in Texas....specifically Waco at the Urban Rescue Ranch.
@@jtotheroc thats actually a special breed, that can only be tamed with trash bins and glizzys depending on gender

Rarities r cool
Check out urban rescue ranch on here. He takes care of 3 of them and is pretty funny.

He’s tried. He makes his nests in bad places and abandon’s them. Too angry & too protective.
They are found wild in the UK with a feral population of 300 here
Need to discuss kevin from urban animal rescue...just saying
Too bad Kevin isn't a good father like these male rheas 😂
In prehistoric times there was a larger, much more aggressive species known as the dire rhea.
I get some "dire rhea" after eating at that shady 2am streedfood stand.
That bird still exists and it lives in India.
Kevin?
Ya mean Diatryma?
@@rickrozen2341 Only if you drink the water.
Wow! I didn't know that Rheas is from South America and it's a relative of Ostrich and Emu. 🙂
That's great! So glad you learned something new here! Thanks for watching!!
And casserrary and kiwi
😂😂😂
South American 🇺🇸 or Pampas Ostrich

Even if you are starving you should never eat a Dire Rhea
lol
Heeyyy kevin
Don’t make me get the trash can lid
*bonk*
Male: Kevin’s
Female: Karen’s

You forgot to mention that they hate trash can lids and master cheif.
I did not expect them to eat... that :o
Wow, Kevin duplicated into a whole two species
Ostriches fight each other in the same way as Rheas. After all, they are part of the same family.
A nice looking bird.
I like these ones. They are neet
I respect this bird even though they fight a lot because it’s mating season for them I respect them anyway
So are they edible and eggs profitable?
Hey is that Kevin?
Kevin?
HEY KEVIN
You forgot the third species. The late night taco bell drive through variant called Diar-Rhea lol.
Can you do porcupines?
Wake up babe, Kevin and Karen documentary just dropped
Still nothing on the Yellow flies
Super 🕊️🐦🕊️🐦 bird👌🏼✨
Fast dudes, and pretty cool, but I'm not a fan of their diets. :)
Thanks for the video.
It's so funny when animals seem like they'll only eat one thing and we learn they eat lots of other things!
Seems zeus turned his mom into a bird
Hey is that Kevin?!
Are Rhea's edible? And do they taste like chicken?
Pls do Pampas Cat 😻
For sure! That's on our list!
oh no rheas
Cool that ratites are quite well spread throughout the world
Well Well Well Well Well, look at all The Kevin fans coming here to learn about Rhea's. Me included. 😉😅

are male rheas always aggressive?

They are only aggressive when threatened.
Emu in Australia.

Kevin's family documentary..
Rheas are the only ratites that dont have spikes on their wings. You made a mistake there
Nope...they do
my name is rhea
There is another species; the leader of the Church of Seiros - Archbishop Rhea.
