That's was excellent! However, I still need a little more information. How do you keep the cardboard stiffener from becoming water logged and badly shaped? How do you return the crispness to the pleats ... ironing? Thank you.
The hard, flat piece at the back (the 'koshi-ita') should be plastic. Its unlikely to lose its shape :) For the pleats, ironing isn't necessary if you fully dry the hakama, fold it neatly, and place it flat under a mattress #protip If you do decide to use an iron, make sure you use a very low heat and/or put a towel between the iron and the hakama. :)
