The last trailer for Sora took place in the same location as the reveal trailer for the game all those years ago, with Inkling Girl looking at the flaming Smash logo. My quote of "Welcome to Dark Souls, bitch" had become a meme back then, so I figured I'd bring it back for old times sake. Add in the fact that the single flame aesthetic was giving me HUGE Dark Souls vibes before it turned out to be Sora, and that's a recipe for nostalgia.

The best is wasn't P5 a recent game at the time? Like relatively new and it got so popular so fast it got a fighter in SMASH.. like that is an accomplishment
@@BaconNuke it was about 1-1.5 years old depending on where you lived. Persona was popular, if a bit niche, but it really took off with P5. Sakurai also really enjoyed P5 himself, which may have played a part in Joker's inclusion.

I can always tell when this video is being pushed into the TH-cam algorithm, based on how frequent and consistently people will come back and watch this compilation for nostalgia or by discovering it for the first time. I'm grateful that a franchise like Super Smash Bros. is recognized as a unifying force for gamers of all kinds, and be it the hype, gaming culture, nostalgia, or togetherness that these reactions allowed between us all, I'm glad my reactions over the years could be a part of that experience. I dont know how but ive never realized how many characters are in smash ultimate. DQ, King K Rool, Sora, and banjo and kazooie play a huge role in my childhood. I was watching a compilation of final smashes when i saw a guy named hero who looked like erdrick and i couldnt believe it was real and nearly shed a tear. Im so glad this compilation and community is filled with others i can share the hype with even though im years late lmao

My mind will never comprehend how anyone can complain about the game when Sakurai delivered EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER from previous games, added a bunch more for the base game, along with 11 more through DLC, with stages, music, and everything else. A labor of love through and through. I hope he rests now. He really went above and beyond with Ultimate.

Is it wrong to feel nostalgic for a game that's been out & pumping content for 3-4 years?
The hype behind SSBU's reveal announcement, the Everyone Is Here, the World of Light announcement, and the Joker reveal hit that feeling that just screams nostalgia
It honestly feels like Smash hasn't come out yet because every character reveal gives the feeling of a new game coming out.
If feeling nostalgic for this game is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

I wanted both, but am relieved, in a sad way, that we didn't get Crash, just because of all the Activision drama going on right now.

Unless they sell the crash brand to another company, which is highly unlikely, I won’t expect him to appear in any smash game any time soon.

@@invaderperidot the funny thing is that Disney has had ties to Nintendo since 1959 where they made a deal for Nintendo to distribute Disney merchandise in Japan that included cards that sold very well. This was during the era when Nintendo hadn’t find itself yet and was a card company among other things. Nintendo owes it’s success to Disney for helping them climb to the top, as it allowed them to be publicly listed as an official company. What’s funny is that Nintendo is actually *OLDER* then Disney believe it or not. The only difference is that Disney always stuck to their way of making entertainment, Nintendo shifted their organization up a bit till they became a video game developer, publisher, and console manufacturer.
Activision on the other hand, isn’t a very loyal company anymore. They used to be a very small video game developer that worked on games for Atari and then they transitioned into a giant publisher conglomerate that buys out a bunch of other independent studios, harasses their employees, or either shutdown the studios if they aren’t making enough good content or just merge them into a better division just so they can assist their game development on titles such as call of duty which are practically the same game every year. They aren’t a worthy company anymore, even if they had a historical importance in the games industry and now owns two important gaming icons from the ps era. They may have started the toys to life craze which caused amiibo to be created but if I recall correctly, it seems that nobody from Activision or blizzard has been contacted by Nintendo about anything smash related since their current controversies. I don’t think they are going to try working with them again.

BIG SAME. I often wonder how I wouldn't reacted if I never played Persona 5 beforehand, and I'm SO glad I did. Persona 5 Royal went on to become my favorite video game of all-time too.

I'm thankful Sakurai has gotten his rest from working on Ultimate for so many years, but the excitement of waiting to see what new characters, mii costumes, and content released from each Smash direct is something I'll cherish forever and miss dearly (or until Smash 6 comes out), and your reactions help relive the hype.

Teaser dropped 8th grade for me and Sora dropped near the end of my senior year of high school, smash was my whole school life
This REALLLLY hits. Smash ultimatr was the game that got me through high school because of just how hype it was building up to its release, and then the dlc that game after, what an amazing experience and i love it to bits. So so happy to get to see arnold just as excited as me, cant stop the huge grin of my face when watching this

Just watched this entire thing and you made me hype for even the reveal at the start being taken back when the first new characters were dropped and even everyone being here, and I knew seeing the overlay and the keyblade in the back I knew the last would be the best, you got so hyped for every single fighter more than many would even be for their own requested ones, not a single bit of disappointment, only dark samus lacked as much hype but you were happy still
but omg when you reacted to sora still not getting hopes up, you really did get what you deserved and seeing your actual hype for your wanted character, you really deserved it

Comments of past reveal trailers like that live rent-free in my mind now that Sora's out. Those people were the truest of believers and never gave up hope until the very last trailer and I'm so happy they get Sora!

It just brings me joy seeing all these ppeople excited to see sora finally join. I also find it amazing, not just because of sora but because Sakurai and his team managed to convince DISNEY of all companies to let them add sora; its amazing honestly

EXACTLY! I just said this in another comment, but Smash reveals were an event all their own. It's the only game that I know where it seems like the whole world stops what their doing, they watch/react to the trailer, they walk about on social media all day and they everyone watches reactions on TH-cam. I'm SO gonna miss doing these.

RogersBase's reaction compilation is actually what inspired me to make this video as my first upload to the gaming channel. I was in Canada at the time, but I decided, with the hype of Sora's release and it being the final character reveal, that it would undoubtedly do well for people looking to give one last hoo-rah to the journey and excitement toward these reveal events that've been happens for the last few years now. I never played Kingdom Hearts, so I didnt care much about Sora at first. But watching his reveal makes me tear up nowadays, because bringing the magic of disney to the world of smash was the single most beautiful conclusion for the journey we all went through, feeling excitement and joy for all the characters. Smash Ultimate was really a moment in gaming history, I look back and remember getting a pit in my stomach watching these originally and I feel the same rewatching them today. After all that, the game is in player's hands now. So the journey isnt over, it continues through all of us who continue to play it and experience memories with our friends, loved ones, and other players. I want to thank Nintendo, Masahiro Sakurai and the rest of the smash team, and the third parties that cooperated with Nintendo to bring their characters to life in a whole new world. This span of character reveals and content updates goes down in history as a time where we all shared unmatched joy, excitement, laughter, and more. I'm really thankful for it, and I hope you all continue to enjoy the game and make memories.
