This soundtrack and song in particular is incredible. Gets me every time. That scene in the field with HIld when Uhtred is rescued from slavery is one of the key moments I'll remember from this show.
I feel incredibly connected to this music. I cry every single time. It's like I've connected with ancestors from over 1000 years ago, I honestly can't describe the overwhelming feeling that I'm directly connecting with them. I'm not even religious. It's just like this music is a bridge between that era and the present. So powerful.
A little over a year ago, I was walking around Lindisfarne Abbey, and on the ramparts of Bebbanburgh with this in my earbuds, looking out over the cold, grey North Sea. Divine.
I had a cathartic experience when I heard this. Tears started streaming down my face but I felt completely immersed in love. I`ve watched the show several times over love it but never felt like that. Eivor you are blessed.

I have followed the series of vikings .... The last kingdom ... Vikings Valhalla .... Truly after Ragnar Lothbrok ... I think Uhtred has done best to showcase the beautiful Norse culture... Although I belong to an entirely different region and culture but I have loved these characters with all my heart. And this music always soothes me ❤

"Lívstræðrir" - my first reaction was to translate this as "Lífsþræðir", i.e "the threads of life" -and I was right! I have admired our no-nonsense brethren in the Faeroe Islands for decades and always thought that I had a handle on at least written Faeroese (the spoken language is a different animal altogether, and takes some practice), but this one left me doubting until Eivör simply confirmed it. In my opinion Eivör has a talent that at least equals, even transcends Björk - more melodic, if anything. Having met this sweet girl on a couple of occasions (I was a captain with Ernir Air, a small domestic Icelandic airline, and she traveled with us occasionally), I found her extremely nice, always smiling and a pleasure to be around. I, an old fart by any measure at the time, was already a fan of Eivör - she competed in an Icelandic song contest and, in my opinion WON, hands down! There was some nationalistic nonsense going on at the time, but to our credit her countryman Jógvan Hansen broke that barrier a few years later.

My family comes from Kristiansand, Bergen, and the Oslo regions of Norway, Torsby area of Sweden, and Bathgate area of Scotland. I am lucky to have a very detailed historical record of my Norwegian family of ancestors dating from 1249 to approximately middle 1950's. This document was hand typed and completed in 1953 by my second cousin, Olav Kristian Stromme. It is one of five original copies, four of which remain in Norway. I'm neither Saxon or Danish, but can't believe how masterful and melodic this music is and how it sets the tone for the series. I have been extremely hooked on The Last Kingdom series and the music was a huge pivotal reason why. Thanks to the masterful musicians of Eivør & John Lunn. Definitely phenomenal talent. The most special thing about this video for me is that it was made during the pandemic, when the whole world went to hell and keeping our minds and souls intact was a daily battle. The most special thing about this video for me is that it was made during the pandemic, when the whole world went to hell and keeping our minds and souls intact was a daily battle. Artists were struggling to connect with their audiences and videos like this were the only way that we could commune through art. When I heard this song, it was in a time of enormous despair for me, when I was alone and hadn't seen friend or family in months. I cried like a child and it still makes me cry every time I hear it.
