    Just so much damn nice sound! Your playing is so beautifully entwined with the pedal. Just wow. Those dynamic waves. You're bringing me fresh ideas to one of my most beloved pedals. Also big thanks for the shout-out. That's very generous. 😍

      Huge, man. Thank you so much for the praise and loaning me such a precious pedal. What a dream this thing is! 🥹

      Now you gotta lend Lyle that sweet Dunable so he can show us how his awesome pedal collection sounds on guitar.

      @@nicholasrella6904 The pedals would sound nice and the guitar would sound awesome too until I tried playing it lol.

      @ These pedals practically play themselves these days. You can just strum anything. Especially in an open tuning.

      @@nicholasrella6904 Good advice. I did just buy my first guitar so who knows. 😅

    its an all-timer pedal, john is a magician. its grandpappy is the catastrophically rare EHX Solid State Reverb from the early 80s, which is a desert island pedal for me, but the tweaks and additional of modulation settings make it capable of so much more. its frankly unsettling sounding.

      @boringgearreviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn’t agree more. He’s an actual wizard and a treasure trove of knowledge. I didn’t know that about the EHX reverb but I’m gonna check that out now. Thanks for the heads up and watch.

      @boringgearreviews unfortunately there's no video demos about them, and very little information because only a handful are known to exist at this point. John visited my studio and serviced mine and that fueled some of the hypersleeps origin (same chips, weird cold murder basement tone), but its very much it's own thing now. My v1 hypersleep is serial #69420, one of my very favorite modern pedals.

    • @boringgearreviews
      @boringgearreviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ bummer about the EHX but that’s rad about your Hypersleep! Mythical serial too! Hahaha

    Dang, I knew I shouldn't have watched that video...now I want the Hypersleep! Cool demo once again!

      Dude, I totally get it. I thought I avoided the need for this pedal and then I borrowed Basementlyles and had to buy my own afterwards. It’s a v1 though… still need the v2. 🤣😅
      Thanks so much too!

    Wow I wonder if I could get similar sounds with my Chase Bliss Tonal Recall RKM on short time settings?

    • @basementlyle
      @basementlyle 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you can get Hypersleep-esque sounds with low time and high feedback on a number of delay pedals. I'm doing it sometimes with Habit even so Tonal Recall ought to deliver too.

      I think in my Echo Dream 2 video I did some metallic reverby stuff too.

      Ah, you’re too kind. Thank you! So rare here too. The Prismatic Wall is amazing too. Can’t wait to see where they go with reverb next.

    Hypersleep is also one of the best pre-fuzz echoes ever! I use mine before a Spiral Electric Black II and it just totally rips for that extra orchestral wailing doom gaze thing. So good. Oh, also try it before a great Ring Mod like Randy's Revenge for really cool steel drum/hand pan effects!

    The determined can usually source a MN3011 on AE or eBay, but sadly the sellers are *well* aware what folks are willing to pay.

    I have drooled over this one many times. I got the Halberd v2, it is the only one I have tried/owned . Love how much output it has. What other Drive that John has had a hand in designing would you rate highly. Dont know if I will ever get a hold of an EAE reverb or delay. Congrats on getting one!

      The Halberd v2 is one of my favorite drives ever. Like top 3. Both the Model feT and Longsword are INCREDIBLE as well. I’d say the feT has a more specific voice but the Longsword can literally do anything. Couldn’t go wrong with either. I’ve got vids of both. Thanks so much, dude!

      @@boringgearreviews Thanks for the suggestions! I have watched a lot of vids for those, yours included. I also think the Hawaiian Pizza looks decent as a preamp that can do a variety of fuzz tones well. Also have an eye on the Behringer Tone Bender coming in Jan next year. At like $60 it seems pretty cool.

    I didn't think this pedal was that rare. I remember seeing quite a few on Reverb when it first released. I don't recall if I've seen any lately. I really wish they would make the Beholder again. I should've bought one when it first came out. They don't go up for sale very often, and when they do the prices are ridiculous.

    • @boringgearreviews
      @boringgearreviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, it’s such a wacky market. John offers a DIY pcb for the Beholder, if you’re keen on soldering. I missed out on it too, sadly but might do the pcb.

      I use a Canon M50 for the right angle, b-roll and talking and an old Sony mirrorless for the left angle.

      @boringgearreviews the dude from past fx told me about it I was pissed because I bought an echo flanger clone that was done with the wrong chips and sounds terrible and he said he was gonna make one soon and the correct chips are available again through those companies looks like someone listened when I said years ago a company could make a killing if the started making the chips again now all we need are the Panasonic sad chips for the really old flangers and echo pedals most first generation stuff used them there not the cleanest sounding but certainly have their own character

    I own a V1 modified to a V2... yeah, you need to coerce sounds from it. An aside, don't pay crazy prices for this pedal. Great pedal, but not worth what people ask for it. Don't EVER buy the hype that it can't be reproduced. Gibson just reissued the famed Mesa Boogie mk iic+... these people create a demand, then force you to pay crazy prices for a demand they manufactured. Guaranteed you can make beautiful sounds with inexpensive gear. Trust your musical instincts. The creativity is in you, not your gear.
