God bless the people that make these random instructional videos on everyday things.
;)
Ohhh yes😂
OMG I was thinking and saying the same thing. Been having to walk alllll the way up on my car for it to open. And now even then, it STILL won't open after several clicks.
I figured it was the battery just didn't know how to change it.
Thank you Sir for this video❤.
Exactly!
Took me longer to open the new battery than it did to replace it😂 short, sweet and to the point. Thanks Rob
Glad the video helped!
That was very useful. I could not change my key's battery without watching this video. Thank you very much.
Awesome! Glad it was useful for you
Thank you for the tip! I successfully changed both fob batteries. The only issue I had and would recommend to be careful with is that the on older fobs the plastic is a bit brittle and prone to cracking, so gently pry up and down and help with your finger in the middle when the gap is visible
Good tip!

Lmkkm.
This was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Took me 5 minutes total for both keys. Thanks!
Awesome! Glad I was able to assist you
Mine apparently had a tiny screw holding it closed on the right side (looking from the back).
2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude.
Noticed mine wasn't responding very well when I tried to lock. Figured it was a low battery. After opening it up noticed the contacts were all black and caked in crud. Took some rubbing alcohol and cue-tips and cleaned it. Remote is super-responsive now.
Thank you so much for this video!!! Seriously just taught me such a practical life skill!! 😊
You're welcome! Glad I could help out a little

I used my debit card to pry mines open, just in case you don’t have the tools he has. Thank you I really needed this quick simple video and where I can get some more of those batteries for so cheap. My mom paid $300 for two😱
Nice work! Glad you could save some cash!!
Maybe she paid that much for the keyfobs. Batteries are cheap
Thanks for the video. Something so simple but look how many of us didn't know.

Very helpful information, thank you. The dealership was going to charge me R1200 for a new key (~US$80)

Be careful though. My 2014 Cherokee latitude fab has a tiny screw that you need to take care of before pupping the fab open or you brake it. Double check your fab.

Some jeep keys have a small Phillips holding the key together.
That’s what I was wondering there should be some type of screw to hold it together
Thank you my friend😊
you bet!
About to earn some husband points lol! Thanks buddy!
:) awesome
Hello! Thank you for the video. I’m currently on the hunt for a 4 button key fob rubber cover (rather than replacing the entire key fob) as my unlock button is extremely sensitive and the lock doesn’t work. Been searching for a while now and can’t seem to find one that absolutely fits. Any ideas?
My Elderly neighbor key fob stopped working, I followed the instructions but hers is a little different, as the battery is on the circuit board and there's no mention of the little tabs between the rubber part and the circuit board, and when I took the circuit board out to change the battery, one of the tabs must have come off... Do you know where I can get a replacement tab?? She can't afford to replace the whole fob as it's like 70 bucks a 200 bucks to program it to her jeep.... You should mention it in the video to be very careful not to lose the little tabs... Thanks (Hers only has open and close and Panic) If I can't get replacement tabs, I will have to remove the Panic tab and put it on the unlock tab... Please let me know asap...
Very helpful, thanks a lot 🙏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you

My boss paid $60 to a Mechanic to replace a battery!! I just replaced the other fob battery for nothing:) Thanks
You bet. Glad you could look like a rockstar!
Ty sir!!
No problem at all. Take it easy
My key had a tiny Phillips Screw in that spot that I had to remove first.
thanks easy. helped a lot
Excellent
Thank you 🙏🏽
No problem 😊
You’re awesome.
Ha! Thanks - Glad it was helpful!
Thank you. This was very helpful. I had no idea that there was a hidden key! I have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. I tried this but when I take the hidden key out there is a little screw that needs to be unscrewed. Now I have to find a tiny screwdriver. Ugh. I guess I have a slightly different version of the key.
The fob in the video is for an older GC. Mine is the same fob and it's from a 2012 Grand Cherokee.
Just FYI, no need for a screwdriver, you can use the key to pop the side open
Will a dead battery keep your key fob from starting Jeep
What if that little piece that takes out the key is broken 😭
Did you have to reprogram
nope
He didn't show the little screw that needed to be removed on the other side under the key. Must have been one that the screw was already removed and left out when put back together.
Most dont have a small screw that needs to be removed
3-4 dollars for that pack shows how insane inflation has gotten over the past 5 years
key fob absolutely does not click back into a tight position
What happened to your hand?
Got a little aggressive with a box cutter
My panic button works but the other ones dont
I did it and now the key doesn’t work
Did it work before the battery change? Are you sure the battery is good?
Did you insert it with the correct side up? It appears the positive side goes down...and make sure there's no protective clear plastic on either side...
Also, don't cover too much of either side with the permanent marker...it may not allow the contacts to connect to the battery...
Oh...forgot to add...thanks for the video. Need to change mine tonight...
I changed the battery but now it doesn’t work. It worked before on and off. I put the old battery back in and now not working either. Maybe something else is wrong with key fob.
aparently i just broke it xD
Ppl
THANK YOU!
