    Thanks so much. The one thing evident, Toyota is a great truck, still running, but we all have heater and ac issues. So thanks for this video. Great help.

    Thank you! your video saved me $900! You walk through all the parts that need to come out to get to the heater core! Its not a bad job, just have to label all the screws, bolts and what goes where!! ALSO @Adam Matuszak You are right, you dont have to discharde the AC, you can wiggle the heater core box out if you remove all the parts around it.

    The title of this one should be "sell your truck or move south, but never consider changing your heater core..."

    Started smelling radiator fluid wafting through the vent system. It's the telltale sign of a blown heater core. Uuuugh! Did a heater core years ago on our Dodge Caravan. I sure wish a video of this quality for the Dodge existed then!!!
    This is one of the most detailed vids I've seen.
    AND I was super impressed with all of the one handed operations you performed. I hope to do half as good with two hands. THANKS a Ton!!!

    looks like a headache waiting to happen, but when you can't pay to have it done, perseverance and a good record of where things go is a must. always keep a clipboard and pen handy... :( really, REALLY not looking forward to having to do this one... bypass for now, fix before winter

    I learned the hard way never to add plain water to the coolant system, it lacks passivators that otherwise prevent rust. In other words, I added plain water, rusted out my heater core, and had to replace it.

    I would just cut a hole in the side of the heater box and run a hot ducking hose through firewall and mount heater core on engine side of firewall, save a headache.

    A lot easier than a 97 f150, heck I won’t touch the heater core on a 99-06 Silverado

    You do NOT have to remove the ac evaporator or bleed the freon out. Just did this today.

    • @travisduggan7126
      @travisduggan7126 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have to do this job soon. Are you saying that the core can be removed without removing the AC evap coils?

    • @GioGuitarDude
      @GioGuitarDude 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Travis Duggan Yep. You have to tug on the box containing the evap coils a little bit to be able to pull the heater core box out, but only about an inch. Nothing that would damage anything. It took me less than 2 hours to get the heater core out, but it became a little disorienting putting everything back together once it got dark even with plenty of artificial light. Start as early as possible and you can knock it all out in less than 4 hours

    I have a 96 tacoma. You say in the text below your video that this video should work for 2000 and 2001. would it be a half way guide to replacing heater core on a 96 tacoma? if not could you reccomend a video or resource. Thanks so much

      If this helps, the 7th generation Toyota Tacoma period is 1995 1/2 thru 2004. Mechanically (4 cylinder to 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder to 6 cylinder) the "Tacos" in this group are very similar to each other with minor changes as the years progressed.

  • @enlighteneddarkness1627
    @enlighteneddarkness1627 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Screw doing it myself. Or even a mechanic doing it.

  • @soundwaves9272
    @soundwaves9272 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    all you had to do to remove the heater core is removing the glove compartment holder screws remove heater hoses and unscrew 4 screws holding the heater core than remove without having to remove all dash.

    Why don’t car manufacturers design an easy replacement for heater core? I think it’s time to go for electric vehicle.
