    I’ve been also going through a seizure journey myself for many years and I’m so sorry to see you have to handle this a lot frequently. You’re clearly a very strong person and I respect your TH-cam channel creation and how you’ve been guiding others who too suffer in your videos. Bless you and your family/friends who support you during all of this as well. Your mother is also very strong and her support for you is powerful and very inspirational, as is your channel. I hope your seizure free journey improves further and that you’re able to be officially seizure free. I’m aiming to be seizure free for a year and hope to be as strong as all of you.

    I just discovered you are from Ontario. Me too. It breaks my heart to see your videos. You are such a strong woman. Your mom is so caring as well. I have 2 friends that have seizures (though I have never witnessed it). I pray that one day they will find a way for you to be seizure free. Until then I am glad there are channels like yours to inform people. Though it is certainly scary to watch I have learned so much from your videos.

    • @ashleygill7018
      @ashleygill7018 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Kronos9870 I have epilepsy and see an epileptologist. I’m not convinced that any doctor would spend their time coming on here to say a person is faking. If indeed you are a neurologist, you know that some people never catch their seizures on an EEG. I have EEG confirmation, but I don’t have a print out I show people, carry around or would show people on TH-cam. So you’re assuming she is faking because you haven’t seen her EEG?!? Not cool.

    • @SuperButterfly217
      @SuperButterfly217 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Kronos9870 do you ever test for seizures that are not considered epilepsy, nor psychological but due to an infection in the brain, fevers, high blood pressure (hypertensive crisis) electrolyte imbalance/dehydration or hormone imbalance I ask because most either say you either have epilepsy or you have psychogenic seizures, but never talk about the physiological causes/ triggers of seizures. Just wondering if neurologists look into that too. Thanks.

    I’ve mentioned this before, but if you get several hand towels, or even better... those microfiber towels, wet them down with cold water, wring them out tight, fold them (if they are too large to fit in the bag flat), and put them in a gallon ziplock bag flat, and squeeze out all the air (roll the bag tightly, starting from the bottom) and zip it shut, then keep it in your refrigerator, you will have something more flexible than a water bottle (which you can still use) and have more surface coverage. You can also use them to wipe her hair to cool her off, wipe her mouth, wipe her face, etc. By keeping it rolled up in the ziplock, pushing out the air, you keep them from getting moldy, and keeps them wet. Buy several microfiber towels, make a few ziplock towel packs, and keep one of the packs in the freezer, also. In case you need more, the frozen towels can thaw while you’re using the refrigerated towels, ... or maybe the frozen is the way to go, if it’s not too cold. In my previous post I suggested using a beach towel, but that would be too large and take up too much space. Several hand towels would be smaller and allow you to place them on several areas that might get too hot: forehead, neck, underarms, etc. ...you get the idea.

    Hello Angelique,
    I don't know where else to message you.
    My daughter has been experiencing seizures since she started school (also roughly around the same time she had to get vaccinations as I didn't vaccinate her on the recommended schedule.) In the last year they got more frequent and daily medication made her behave as if she was drunk and I started on my own journey to make her seizure free. I am so grateful to you and your mom for opening up and allowing me to study your condition to be able to help my daughter. And Im excited to say that I may have found the trigger for her.
    Since the shutdown from the pandemic happened, we were forced to be at home I was exclusively in charge of her food. We significantly cut out processed foods and mainly eat a whole food diet. One of the things that I noticed is that she would still get auras occasionally and I would give her cbd or lorazepam if she expressed a number of precursors to her seizures. Usually headache, nausea, lack of coordination, confusion and a general feeling of "blah." She's been seizure free for 5 months with this medication treatment and diet adjustment.
    This past weekend, I let her go to a birthday "party" of a very close friend. Since it was a "party" and I don't want to treat her differently than most kids i didn't give her any dietary restrictions. She ate a lot of sugar that day and the next day are a bunch more. She started getting all the usual pre seizure symptoms.
    It hit me yesterday that her body probably can't process that much sugar. Sugar might be what triggers her seizures. While we've been mindful to eat clean food, I wasn't always mindful of her sugar intake. I thought, she's a kid who already thinks it's unfair that she gets seizures and can't eat junk food. So I let her eat sweets because I wanted her to feel normal. It was usually homemade and minimally processed and definitely organic so I thought it was ok. But I am convinced I was wrong. So, starting today we are really going to be paying attention to eating less sugar.
    Hopefully, if sugar is the trigger for her and we can avoid it in addition to keeping a whole foods plant based diet, she will be seizure free for much longer and we won't need to give her any medication. Knowing she will be able to live a typical life by just keeping a good diet just fills me with overwhelming joy.
    I wholeheartedly hope you find what triggers your seizures. I feel your pain and I'm sending you and your mom (because she needs it too!) Lots of healing energy and peaceful vibes.
    Thank you again for sharing your experiences. Your willingness to open your life to the world, helped me help my child. Thank you.
    -Ania

    Ang - I know you've mentioned before an interest in getting the VNS implant. My daughter has seizures like yours. She can go a couple days and then have three in one day or go one day and have one., etc. You just never know. Her seizures began after an infection went to her brain two years ago. She is 44. Well yesterday she had the VNS implant. It wasn't too bad as far as the procedure goes. Two cuts, one in the chest to implant the device and another along the crease of the neck. Surgery took about an hour, recovering for an hour, and then she was sent home with an antibiotic and mild pain med. I'm not sure if it was the anesthesia, antibiotic. or pain med but she had 5 statis seizures in a row yesterday afternoon. It took two ativans to make them stop and today I gave her one first thing this morning so we wouldn't have a repeat of that. I did read that antibiotics can bring on seizures in epileptics. So far today things have gone ok. In two weeks she goes back to the epilepsy specialist to have the device turned on and then begins the tweaking for her particular seizures and needs. We understand it won't stop all seizures (though it has for years in some people) but it should lessen them and lessen the intensity of the ones that slip through. She will also have a remote to turn this up when she feels a seizure coming on that could either stop it or certainly lessen it. I know you have an interest in this and if you'd like. I will keep you updated on the progess of this with her so you can maybe someday make a more informed decision if it's right for you or not. I can't tell you how much your posting of your journey has helped her and me, as I am your mom in our situation.

      Isn’t that odd that migraines cause auras, also? Makes me wonder if migraines aren’t a seizure of the head. My aura is I act drunk several hours before the migraine. I’m giddy and laugh at everything, I stumble, drop things, etc. my husband can call a migraine based on my behavior. So weird. My doctor said he had one other patient who acted drunk before a migraine.

      @@flxmkrVery odd. I drop things, fall down, hear music and my memory gets messed up and those visuals auras are crazy. We need more research for both seizures and migraines.

    The embrace watch has been incredible for our family. I got mine for free and I’m in canada. I believe you could get one free too.

      Jane Russell Hi. I’m in Canada also. Is there a program or something that helps Canadians get this watch? Would love to learn more, if you don’t mind. Thanks so much!

    Beautiful girl, and smile. I would freak if one of my several granddaughters had to suffer like this! There must be a way forward. Maybe a medical Dr watching this could help. We have a world of Drs. There is medical marijuana for seizures in US. Good luck, Grandma Kathy!

    The hiccups make sense because they are a form of myoclonic jerks, and some forms of myoclonus are epileptic seizures.
