    Thank you for a very clear and straightforward walkthrough! Mine is displaying the typical ‘hard to start after fill-up’ so I know the pump is going. ‘05 and original pump, so I’m sure it’s due.
    My first car was a ‘73 Vega GT. In-tank pump. I got to change my first pump ever on the side of the road in 1980 in Dripping Springs, TX in the middle of August 😂 wasn’t gonna pay $60 for a tow back to Austin! This looks like a breeze compared to that. Thanks again for a very good guide

    YES, Thanks for making this video for the "in Tank" fuel filter. eBay is the only place I could find a filter replacement. All the listings only offered a complete fuel pump and filter.

    So much easier replacing the fuel filter on the models Subaru has them on the engine bay. Thanks for the video!

    Spray those plastic fuel line connectors with penetration oil and let it soak a few makes it easier to get off and on especially on those o rings can get messed up if there not lubed. Cool video!!! Thank you my son has a 08 trying to find out why it dies randomly when its started and put into gear may be the pump but love it when i dont have to make my own accses panel lol

    I had an issue with fuel seeping out around the metal ring. So today I pulled everything out and replaced the strainer, filter, and gasket. Put everything back together making sure that it was seated correctly and it's still seeping gas when full. There were no visible cracks to the plastic. Needless to say I'm pretty frustrated with it and there's no way I'm spending $400 for the complete assembly when I don't need it. Time to buy a tube of gasket maker Lol

      I ended up replacing the entire assembly. I wasn’t wanting to risk having the pump go out later so I just did the whole assembly. Cost about $380 but it was OEM.
      Not a single issue since then.

    Quite helpful. Next, please try making a video in horizontal (normal video) format. Makes it a lots easier to watch on a TV or monitor and since normal peripheral vision is horizontal it makes it much less claustrophobic to watch ;)

    I had a melt of a connector on the other side that stopped the fuel gauge and fuel pump from working. I spliced all 6 wires together and now the gauge works and the fuel pump hums for a second after I stop cranking but it won’t start and is not getting any fuel. I have 130 K miles and wonder if I should clean or replace the fuel filter/pump. Great video!

    Well the be at half tank or under part is going to be a problem. Bought the car blown and im in the middle of a rebuild. Guess the owner filled it before he blew it on the dyno. Wanted to upgrade fuel system for VF52 setup. Guess i gotta find a way to siphon the tank or baby it on a place holder tune to get rid of some fuel.

    If I were to buy a new assembly, how would I know if it were the right part? I have a ‘05 Legacy but the 2.5gl so not the turbo. Is it different?

    • @brokenwrench4309
      @brokenwrench4309  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damon Gerges I would feel that your car would be a little different then my car. Your fuel pump could be on the passenger side of the engine. What is wrong with your car?

    • @damongerges5749

      Im almost positive the fuel pump is going bad bc when i drive on less than about 1/4 a tank, it stalls and idles to the point the belt will sometimes completely stop. Also, whenever i drive it stutters, Im getting it checked out soon to make sure I don't waste money on a fuel pump

    • @brokenwrench4309
      @brokenwrench4309  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damon Gerges yes that sounds like the pump. That's good your taking it in, please let me know how it goes

      Hey! I ended up replacing the fuel pump then I went in to replace the spark plugs. That ended up to be a real pain. As I was doing that I see there’s oil around the plugs and boot indicating a bad valve gasket so I finally found the problem! Now I’m just debating on paying to get it fixed or to do it myself because it was hard to get to that part of the engine.

    • @brokenwrench4309
      @brokenwrench4309  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok do the valve covers yourself, it will be much cheaper and they aren't bad to replace. if you got your spark plus done yourself your one step away of doing the valve cover. Watch with video its not the valve cover removal but it will show you how to get the most room to work! th-cam.com/video/WG0iTkS3yiM/w-d-xo.html
      Let me know and I will try and help you the best I can. Good luck and I feel you can do this! Happy wrenching

    Was thinking, man whyd they make it so difficult to replace the fuel filter, then thought to myself, last month i had to replace the spark plugs, so it could be worse. Then i also remembered last year i replaced my fuel pump in my 95 f150 (you have to either drop the fuel tank or take off the bed), so yeah, it really could be worse🤣
