    OMG. Nostalgia is real. With the way the world is today, I’d go back to 1980’s and 1990’s in a heartbeat. This pizza WAS LIFE back then. All that's needed now is a carton of chocolate milk, corn, and a fruit cup.

    The original recipe does call for 1/2 pound of Italian sausage and 1/2 pound of ground beef! My Aunt use to make it for us.

    Here is the recipe to this video i saved before the website hosting it went defunct.
    Crust:
    * 2 ⅔ flour
    * ¾ cup powdered milk
    * 2 T sugar
    * 1 packet of quick rise yeast
    * 1 tsp salt
    * 1 ⅔ cup warm water (105-110 degrees)
    * 2 T vegetable oil
    Filling:
    ½ pound ground chuck
    ½ tsp salt
    ½ tsp pepper
    1 8oz block mozzarella cheese - grated yourself (To be authentic school pizza, you will have to use imitation mozzarella shreds.)
    Sauce (I make sauce the day before):
    * 6oz can tomato paste
    * 1 cup water
    * ⅓ olive oil
    * 2 cloves garlic minced
    * 1 tsp salt
    * 1 tsp pepper
    * ½ tbsp dried oregano
    * ½ tbsp dried basil
    * ½ tsp dried rosemary crushed
    Crust:
    1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Spray pan with Pam and lay Parchment paper down (Pam makes it stick)
    2. In a large bowl - flour, powdered milk, sugar, yeast, salt - whisk to blend
    3. Add oil to hot water (110-115 degrees) - pour into your mixture
    4. Stir with a wooden spoon until batter forms - don’t worry about lumps - you just want no dry spots
    5. Spread dough into pan using fingertips until it’s even. If dough doesn’t want to cooperate, let rest 5 minutes and try again
    1. Bake just the crust for 8-10 minutes - remove from oven and set aside.
    6. Brown meats until it resembles crumbles - set aside and drain meat
    7. Get out the pizza sauce - to partially baked crust, assemble:
    1. Sauce - spread all over crust
    2. Sprinkle meats
    3. Sprinkle cheese
    4. Bake at 475 degrees for 8-10 minutes until cheese melts and begins to brown
    5. Remove from oven - let stand 5 minutes
    6. Cut in slices and serve!

    You did a good job at my school they took a fork and poked holes in the crust before baking, it is a sticky wet dough, you can put seasoning on the parchment before you spread the dough on to help the crust but you did a great job! I made it last month my neighbors and friends all loved it. We ate better when I went to school❤️

      Thanks for the helpful comment, Ms. Pamela. Do you think you might know why my dough came out much dryer and not like a spreadable batter. I guess I can try a bit less flour. I'll use your idea to poke holes in the crust after it pre-cooks.

      @April sunshine75 I purchased the ingredients to make a pepperoni school pizza. Lol, I found an old-school lunch ladies youtube channel. It's @whippoorwillholler
      and the recipe was the same except she used chopped pepperoni and said you can use anything you want for the sauce.
      She also shared the school brownie recipe. So I'm planning on making both and having a side of corn! That's what it always was on pizza day. Pizza, a brownie and corn! Lol

    These things were the bane of my existence in middle school. I grew up not knowing I was lactose intolerant and cheese always gave me terrible gas. That'd be worse within itself, but on top of that, all my classes had assigned seating in alphabetical order. The girl I had a huge crush on always sat behind me in almost every class. I would sit at my desk, stomach making whale noises and rumbling while I'm breaking out in cold sweats trying not to blow her away. To add insult to injury, I worked up the courage to finally ask her out in High School and later found out that she had anosmia due to a childhood illness and would've never smelled me if I did let one out.

    For those looking for the recipe, you can use the wayback machine and plug the website in there. Alternatively, I already did it and here it is copy and pasted:
    Half sheet pan and line with parchment paper.
    Crust:
    2 ⅔ flour
    ¾ cup powdered milk
    2 T sugar
    1 packet of quick rise yeast
    1 tsp salt
    1 ⅔ cup warm water (105-110 degrees)
    2 T vegetable oil
    Filling:
    ½ pound ground chuck
    ½ tsp salt
    ½ tsp pepper
    1 8oz block mozzarella cheese - grated yourself (To be authentic school pizza, you will have to use imitation mozzarella shreds.)
    Sauce (I make sauce the day before):
    6oz can tomato paste
    1 cup water
    ⅓ olive oil
    2 cloves garlic minced
    1 tsp salt
    1 tsp pepper
    ½ tbsp dried oregano
    ½ tbsp dried basil
    ½ tsp dried rosemary crushed
    Crust:
    Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Spray pan with Pam and lay Parchment paper down (Pam makes it stick)
    In a large bowl - flour, powdered milk, sugar, yeast, salt - whisk to blend
    Add oil to hot water (110-115 degrees) - pour into your mixture
    Stir with a wooden spoon until batter forms - don’t worry about lumps - you just want no dry spots
    Spread dough into pan using fingertips until it’s even. If dough doesn’t want to cooperate, let rest 5 minutes and try again
    Bake just the crust for 8-10 minutes - remove from oven and set aside.
    Brown meats until it resembles crumbles - set aside and drain meat
    Get out the pizza sauce - to partially baked crust, assemble:
    Sauce - spread all over crust
    Sprinkle meats
    Sprinkle cheese
    Bake at 475 degrees for 8-10 minutes until cheese melts and begins to brown
    Remove from oven - let stand 5 minutes
    Cut in slices and serve!

    Thank you very much Nicole[or 'Ms. Peabody'?] for a very pleasant trip in the way-back machine to my youth(elementary school in the '80's). Remembering the awe and delight of seeing those sheet pans of pizza- especially the pepperoni. Tantalizingly displayed along the lunch line under heat lamps; what seemed a gigantic field of glistening melted cheese, leopard-spotted with orange grease, ever so slightly kissed with brown where small diced pieces of pepperoni lurk below, while their spicy brethren sit boldly atop the cheese, now cooked to an almost "soft bacon" fry...
    I think I need a moment.
    It didn't occur to me until just now, but that might be why I often feel hopeful about Thursdays.
    Also, when you brought up the rosemary, my brain screamed, "THAT'S WHAT THAT WAS!!" So this would seem to be pretty spot on, at least compared to my old elementary school cafeteria.
    Thanks!

    I started school in 1970, the pizza that was served then was a thicker, almost deep dish crust. That was covered with what I believe our school used as spaghetti sauce, thick with beef and yellow cheese. The only way it actually resembled a pizza was that it was baked in a flat pan! For everyone wondering, this is NOT the school lunch pizza from the mid 80s-90's; its from the 70's. I was very excited making it and it was good, but I was sad it wasn't from my childhood. HOWEVER, my mother was elated to find that it was what her highschool served in the 70's!

    When I was in school..the lunchrooms used Heinz Sausage pizza, which was cut in the shape of a rectangle...my mom supervised one of the High schools in Dallas...so I recall most of the brends they used...

      What in the world is pizza with gravy in it? "in it"? "In it"? What location is that on a pizza map, Where is the "in" on a pizza? Where does one learn more about this gravy pizza because I have at least 20 more questions before I can even wrap my head around the concept of gravy Pizza?

      my husband and i make this for our kids all the time on english muffins or bagels...but now i'm gonna do it with the crust from this vid. we make country gravy and add sauted breakfast sausage to it. sometimes we put scrambled eggs on this too sometimes not. always topped with cheese. tastes EXACTLY like those breakfast pizzas!

    Our school system also made a hamburger bun pizza with a meat sauce and cheese. I'm sure the bun was browned, because it was crunchy and the meat sauce was deliciously tangy, they called them pizza bugers.

      Mom would make them with a piece of bread, pizza sauce, hamburger and cheese. We called it Poor Man's Pizza. Of course mom came up with cowboy night too. She would save the aluminum pans from pies, that was our plates for that night. She would boil hot dogs, pop some popcorn and those special nights we got soda. Mom, my 2 brothers and I would all pile up on the blanket that mom laid in the floor in front of the TV and watch movies that night while we ate. We loved it. We didn't have money but mom had an imagination. Days and memories that we will never forget. e will never firget.

    I was a teen in Florida, I think our lunch ladies used leftover sloppy joes or something on our pizza, it was usually Thursdays or later in the week, so I think they slopped on what they had, also I think I spied leftover veggies in there too, same with meatloaf, green beans and everything in it, but they made it taste so good.
    Also, ours had yellow cheese, no doubt the government cheese, but man, was it EVER good, so thank you for the recipe for the crust.

    Not bad! The crust tastes about like I remember. Personally, I think it was a bit too sweet for my liking and could benefit from some extra salt. I would also add some garlic powder and Italian seasoning for more flavor. Also, I got better results and a more airy texture from proofing the batter (covering it and letting the yeast work on it) for at least 5-10 minutes before pouring it. Longer still may be better. Overall, I think this has some potential! I'm going to tinker with it a bit more and see what I can do with it.

      In middle and high school they had pizza everyday and it's what most kids would eat. I remember asking for "pizza and fries" pretty much always. So healthy! We'd sometimes get the ham you're talking about and other times get sausage. I think the "ham" was supposed to be pepperoni, just cubed rather than sliced.

    I'm 30yrs old and lived in a small Georgia town. Wasn't no processed trays for lunch at school. We had real food cooked in the cafeteria...they made the best grilled cheese! Went to a few grades in middle school in California and was shocked at the school system. Shit for lunch, processed trays delivered cold put under heat lamps, no veggies or salads, no air conditioning in the classroom so your lunch was in danger of spoiling if you brought something from home
